of the reasons why I'm here is because I would like to talk with you >> about what? Just get to the point, please. >> Okay. >> Cuz I have >> things to do. >> Okay. Right now, you're in custody for aiding in abetting a felon. On March 9th, 2023 in Brown County, Wisconsin, Kana Brunette was brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Braxton Phillips, who had died on March 1st, 2023 in Ashwabanon as a result of a gunshot wound. Spoiler details are in the video description, and the full results of all charges in the case are laid out at the end of the video. >> You've obviously talked to police before. [sighs] I was not there. [snorts] Kind of give me like a rundown of what you've talked to them. >> Can I get some tissue? >> Absolutely. >> Please. Let's [snorts] see. [crying] So, I'm sure there's a lot going through your mind right now. You just want to give me a rundown of what you told law enforcement in the past >> that I went to go pick him up at 6:00 in the morning and then he gets in the car and then I his phone ended up dying. And I just heard a girl and he he was like, "I just shot my best friend." And I was like, "What?" And he was like, "Yeah." And like he was crying and [ __ ] He was really crying and he couldn't even talk loud. And I just like I just kept trying driving cuz I had to process it. Like I thought he was really [ __ ] lying about the [ __ ] He didn't. And so while we're on the highway, he just throws something out the window and I was like, "Did you just throw something?" And he was like, "Yeah." And I figured it was the [ __ ] guns. And that's really all I came back home and I just like to tell him like I'm like just calm down, you know? Like >> it's all freaking early as hell in the morning. I had to get my siblings off to school. So, I mean, I we went home and then he fell asleep and then I fell asleep after sending the kids to school and then that's all that happened. >> Okay. So, >> tell me about your relationship with Perez. >> I've been with him for six years. >> Mhm. >> You have a daughter together. >> Have you known him for that long or longer? >> Known him for that long. >> Okay. [snorts] >> But our parents always knew each other. We've lived together for the past four years. >> Mhm. >> It's not something that he would intentionally mean to do. >> What's What's >> You know what I'm talking about. Killing shooting him. >> Okay. So, >> it was all they were drunk and dude cocked his gun in the middle of the night and he forgot all about it. So then when he went to go pick it up to go say, you know, because I was there, it went off. He's not like that. Yeah. Okay. There's a bunch of guys and dudes out here who have guns. Not all of them are meant to be like do that. I know his past. Obviously, you guys can see his record, the burglary of the armed robbery store, whatever. But he he changed a lot ever since like three years ago. >> Mhm. He's not He's not one to kill someone. He can't even handle that. >> Mhm. >> Obviously, he couldn't even do it, right? So, what makes you guys think that he did that [ __ ] intentionally? >> Okay. You You said So, how do you know all this to be true? >> Oh, what to be true? >> What you said, how it was accidental and all that? >> Because they were best friends. >> They were brothers. >> Okay. hit. He >> Yeah, everybody has fights. >> Mhm. >> But that doesn't make No. Like none. No. >> So So you're saying it's accidental because they were best friends. >> If Come on now. No. You're telling me if it you were him in his shoes, you're going to tell me that he meant to do that on purpose. You guys are drunk. It was only them two hanging out. >> Mhm. >> He would not do that to his best friend. They don't they don't beef like that. >> Okay. So, >> and his mom just died. Why would he go and try to just kill him? >> Okay. So, I'm just trying to get this straight. You know what you all told me to be true? Because they're best friends. He didn't tell you any of this. >> Tell me any of what? Yeah, he did tell me. He told me everything that happened and I already told you guys everything that happened that I knew from what he told me. >> From what he told you? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, everything >> and if he meant to do this intentionally and if they weren't best friends, he wouldn't have sat there and freaking been crying and can't shaking or [ __ ] like wasn't even eating. If he meant to do that to him, he wouldn't have gave a [ __ ] >> okay? >> He would have been like, "Haha, I just shot this nigga." Like, no. He was not like that. He couldn't even talk, >> okay? He held him while he [ __ ] died. >> Okay. >> And he's the one who called the cops. And the cops didn't do their job when they got there cuz we rode right past them. >> Okay. So, he called the cops, you're saying? >> Yep. >> And he said, "I shot Braxton." >> Did he? >> Something like that. I don't know. The [ __ ] dispatcher died right off the b. The phone died as soon as he basically got in the car. So, I didn't hear the whole conversation and I didn't care to ask him because I'm shocked myself. >> So, you heard him call 911? >> I didn't. I heard the dispatcher on the phone. Do you see any cops around? That's the last thing I heard. >> Okay. >> Do you see a cop? There should be one coming in. >> Okay. Did you see one? >> Yeah, we did. >> Did you stop and tell the cop what happened? >> No. >> Why? >> Because I'm shocked. >> Okay. So, >> I'm shocked. I'm just driving. >> So, you're saying he accidentally shot his best friend? You guys are leaving the apartment and call 911 saying, "Hey, I just shot my best friend on accident. I need help." You see the help coming and you guys keep going? >> Yeah. >> Does that make sense >> for my side? I don't I don't know. It's just you guys. Why are you guys trying to like get to pin this on me too? Like I have something to really do with all this? >> Well, talk to me. >> No, I am talking, BUT YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO FLIP THE QUESTIONS ONTO ME. >> NO, I'm just I'm telling you. >> SO, YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT YOU DIDN'T GET OUT and tell the cop? >> Okay. Well, IF THE COP WAS THAT WORRIED, then why was he coming in with his lights on? >> So, did you not do that? >> I didn't do that. No. >> Okay. So, then you guys left. Where did you go? >> I told you I went I straight up drove where >> and I got on the high 41 whatever 40 29 one that goes towards [ __ ] Shauno. >> Okay. So what made you go out that way? >> I don't know. That's just the way I went. >> Okay. >> Cuz originally I was driving home. I live over there. >> Okay. >> Why does it matter why I went that way? >> Well, cuz I'm curious if you had a reason or if you didn't. >> Well, I'm driving. >> Okay. Do you have a reason why you take your certain ways to just drive? >> I don't just drive. I drive to go places. >> Well, you're lame. People just drive just to drive. >> Okay. So, what happened after he threw something out the window? >> I asked him what was that? And he I couldn't hear him and I asked him. I was like, "Well, was that the gun?" And he was just sat there. So, >> yeah, I took it as it was the gun. >> And then >> don't nobody ever just throw anything out the [ __ ] window that's big. So, what happened after he threw something out the window? >> I kept driving and then I turned around later on after I calmed myself down. >> Mhm. >> And I went home. Like I said, I had to get my siblings off to school. >> Okay. Is there any time that you called the police to talk to them about it? >> A couple days later. >> Okay. Why Why wait that long? >> Cuz I'm still processing it myself and I already know what you guys were going to try and do. I don't know. I don't have nothing to do with it. I'm I was shocked. I have a one-year-old. He was my [ __ ] best friend. You guys sit there and like expect me to just be quick as hell to turn on him and snitch on him. No, THAT'S MY BABY'S FATHER. >> NO, YOU'RE NOT LISTENING to me. >> Okay. >> So, you guys expect me? Why didn't you just come down right away? Because I knew he was going to go to jail, obviously. Right. I wanted to spend as much time as I could to [ __ ] before he leaves. I'm a I'm a single mother now. Do you KNOW HOW BAD THAT [ __ ] SUCKS? NO, you don't. >> No, I don't. >> I bet you got a wife and a [ __ ] picket fence and a dog and perfect little kids, right? >> So, you're doing this to protect them. >> I was at first. Yes. But I'm the one who [ __ ] told everything. I told him, "You're not going to say something I am. I can't keep doing this." >> Okay. >> I was like, "I'm not going to go to jail for something that you did, especially cuz our daughter at least needs one of us." >> Mhm. And you can ask and the PO from whatever anybody. I'm the one who got him to freaking say something. Otherwise, he would have never said nothing because he's scared. >> Okay, >> so we talked about your relationship with Perez. What was your relationship with Braxton like? >> He was like my brother. Yeah, we had our ups and like we didn't have our ups and downs, but like just when him and my baby daddy, they would go out or whatever and talk to other girls. Obviously, I'd get mad at him for, you know, going along with it. You'd think that, you know, like why did that matter? >> What? >> My relationship with Braxton? >> Because I knew you had a relationship with Braxton. >> I didn't really technically have a relationship with Braxton. So, you don't even know what you're talking about. >> Explain that to me. I never kicked it with him like that. >> What do you mean? >> Hung out. >> Okay. >> Hung out, talked, nothing. That's That was my baby daddy's friend, not my friend. >> So then why would Perez be upset after seeing you and Braxton together? >> See, where did that come from? >> Press. >> That came from Pres. >> Yeah. >> Well, I don't know what the [ __ ] he's talking about. I was never with Braxton. So he woke up after being passed out at night and he saw you two together in the >> Oh no. What? What? He really What? Hold [laughter] on. What? What night? The [ __ ] are you guys talking about? This is what Press is saying. >> Okay. Hey, well, I'm going to need to talk to President because that's not correct. I was never with Braxton. I don't know where the [ __ ] he got that from. >> No, you never had a romantic relationship with Braxton. >> Nope. >> Never. I never even [ __ ] hugged him. >> No messages on the phones would indicate that. >> Nope. Just this one night when he took my baby daddy in my car to go pick up some girls in it at 3:00 in the morning. I was telling him, "I love you, Braxton." Just to give my baby daddy. But I never talked to Braxton before that. I never even hugged him. Nothing. I've never talked to him before that. I did that to get back on my baby daddy the night that he wanted to pick up girls in my car, but that doesn't make me like I don't even know what that has anything to do with it. >> Well, you're saying you initially said that they were best friends. Yeah, they were best friends and >> there was a strain in their relationship that you knew about. >> A strain in the relationship. Explain that to me. >> You and Braxton were together. >> Me and Braxton were never together. >> Well, at least that's what Perez thought. >> Well, no. He's probably just talking about how I told Braxton that I how I was telling Braxton I love you because that night that they wanted to take my car and pick up a bunch of [ __ ] >> So, he was upset by that? Probably. I don't know. He was like, "Stop." >> Stranding the relationship. >> Okay. Well, that was between them, not me. >> Exactly. And one's alive and one's dead. [sighs] >> No, because it wasn't even like that. >> I'm going to let you sit here for a little bit and think about it. I'm going to go talk with the other investigators who are watching this interview right now. >> Mhm. >> Um cuz I have a feeling you're not being honest. >> I am being honest. I don't know what you GUYS ARE LOOKING FOR for real. >> Like that what PRESS IS TELLING YOU GUYS. THAT'S not what that [ __ ] don't even make sense. I've never had a romantic [ __ ] relationship with Braxton. JUST THAT ONE I LOVE you and you guys take that as a [ __ ] romantic ass relationship. Like we've been together and was [ __ ] and all this and that. No. >> Would Perez be upset by that? >> No. He wasn't even really that upset about it that night either. So, he wouldn't have told us he was upset by that. And at that straight, >> maybe he's trying to throw that in there as a [ __ ] excuse. I don't know. But all I know is they were hanging out between the times. >> Mhm. >> No problem. Nothing. So, I don't get it. >> Okay. So, what did what did PZ tell you? What happened? How he ended up shooting him? He he said that Braxton cocked his gun in the middle of the night. And then when he was going to leave, he forgot to check, you know, the gun out the chamber and make sure that it wasn't in the head, whatever. Cuz I mean, he was drunk, obviously. And then when he went to go pick it up, he was like, "You're coming out tonight with me, right?" And then boom. >> So he used Braxton's gun to shoot him. >> No, obviously not. No, I don't know. >> Okay. >> I wasn't there. No, I'm just trying to figure out what he said. >> Yeah, I'm trying I'm still trying to figure out everything myself. >> So, >> besides what he told me. >> So, he s said a gun was cocked. >> His gun. >> Perez's gun. >> Pres's gun was cocked. >> And Braxton's the one that cocked it. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Because he was playing with his gun. >> Okay. All right. [snorts] >> Did he tell you about the rounds that were in the gun? >> No. >> Okay. You don't know nothing about >> No, cuz I don't care to know about guns. >> Okay. >> I don't care to know about them >> about that [ __ ] >> Okay. All right. >> And you guys are boas if you guys take me away from her >> cuz I already have a feeling that's what you guys are going to do cuz you guys are sitting here trying to >> to be honest with you. You're not being truthful. I can >> I am being truthful. I'm trying to be as truthful as I can be. How? Because I'm getting mad. >> No. No. I >> Or because I'm fidgeting. >> I do this for a living. >> Okay. But I'm being truthful. >> You're not the first one I've interviewed. >> Okay, cool. I don't care if I am or I'm not. I DON'T LIKE I DON'T know what you guys want me to say. >> That shit's not true. >> Okay, be honest with me. >> Yes. >> Okay, be honest with me then. >> I am being honest with you. >> Well, what are like I don't get how I'm not being truthful. Because >> what is it exactly? You want to know >> the truth? >> I only I gave you guys everything truthfully. >> I am okay. Ask him again. >> What was your relation with Braxton like? >> Mainly just a friend, but I never talked to him like that. >> Okay, >> that's the truth. I never talked to Braxton like that. Okay. >> Ever in my life. That was that's been my baby's best friend. >> Okay. When you say manly just a friend, what do you mean by that? >> Like I was just in the car when he needed a ride in the like needed a ride or like dropping pres off by his house. >> Mhm. >> I never sat around him and actually hung out with him. >> Okay. >> So that's that. That's the truth. >> Well, I'm I'm confused cuz why would Press say otherwise? >> I don't know why he would say that. And that's what I'm not getting. >> Okay. >> Like he he told me that night that I told him I love you. Whatever. He he wasn't even mad about it. But he just told me like, "But I just don't want you around." And I was like, "That's fine." Like, "I don't care. I don't have to be around Braxton." Cuz it wasn't even like that. I told him myself that I only said that to him to get him mad because he had girls in my car at 3:00 in the morning when he's supposed to be at home with me. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I can see why upset. >> Yeah. So, I thought saying that would get him mad. >> Mhm. >> Or, you know, make them not be friends because whatever. I didn't like how he always had him around girls. >> Mhm. >> So, was he when when you when you kind of talked to him about that, was he upset with Braxton about it or was >> No, he was more upset with me >> for doing >> for saying that. >> Okay. >> But he was not mad at Braxton. >> Okay. He would still talk to me on the phone and play the game with him and stuff like >> Mhm. >> He was mainly mad at me. >> Okay. All right. So, go back to the night where this all happened. You said you picked him up at 6:00 in the morning. >> Yeah. Around 6 something in the morning. Like between 6:00 and 610 the latest. >> What was going on before that? >> What do you mean like with me or with them? with I just want to hear what h what was going on with you. >> He wasn't even really answering the phone. >> Okay. >> For me, >> he said that they were listening to music and that's the last thing that I knew for like 3 hours. >> Okay. >> And then he finally texted me and asked me, he was like, um, come get me. Cuz he had to go with his, uh, his mentor in the morning to go get a new car. >> Okay. >> And I was like, right now, dude, I was I was literally about to just go to sleep. And he was like, "Well, if you don't want to," I was like, "Well, cuz I mean, obviously he's my boyfriend. I'm not just going to leave him." So, I went to go pick him up. >> Mhm. >> And then I didn't text him until I got there. >> Okay. So, where were you at when he was texting you? >> At home. >> At home. Okay. Were you anywhere prior to home? >> Were Were you home? >> Yeah, I was out with my friends. >> Okay. >> For a little bit, but I was home by two. No, I think it was before that. like 1. >> Okay. >> One or two. >> So, you were out with friends. Um and then you got home sometime around 1 or 2. Um he wasn't answering messages between that time until around 6. >> Well, I mean like he would answer but they were really dry like K or like oh like just >> so text messages not >> like barely like maybe like one or two messages but I wouldn't really count that as having a conversation. >> Yeah. Yeah. So he'd respond to you but not be a part of the convers I got you. All right. So and then eventually he said come get me. And that was upsetting cuz you were done with the night and you wanted to go to bed. So you but you went there and got him. Um so you said you were out with friends. Were you with Perez or Braxton anytime during the that night before friends or anything? No. Um, and then >> I didn't see them since before 6:00 the the day before >> 6:00 >> the 28th. >> So 24 hours or 12 hours. So 6 p.m. >> like Yeah. >> So yeah, I dropped him off at like 6:00 and I didn't see him again. Yep. 12 hours. I >> So 12 hours. 12. So that you dropped you dropped Pres off at uh Viking Drive sometime around 6. Okay. Was pres at work or what was he doing before then? >> No, we were driving around. >> Okay. So you're driving around. He ends up wanting to go to Braxton's. You drop him off. You don't stay. You go out with uh girls. >> What happened was me and P were driving around. >> Mhm. >> Braxton hit him up like, "Yo, what are you doing for your birthday?" And he was like, "Well, I don't know yet, blah, blah, blah." And then he was like, "Well, come get me." So, we went and picked him up. And then that's when I dropped him and Braxton off at Bike and Drive. >> That's the truth. >> Okay. So, where was Braxton at? Where'd you pick him? >> Do you know where 92 is? McDonald on Maine. >> Yeah. Yes, I know where the McDonald So, someone >> So, right across from the Riverside Ballroom. >> Okay. Okay. >> That house right next to the bar. >> Yeah. So picked him up there >> and then dropped him went straight there and dropped him off. >> Okay. Dropped him off at Viking Drive. Then you went out with some friends uh throughout that time just having text messages back and forth with >> kind of. Yeah. Pres fell asleep drunk for a little bit and then um I called him again at 10:30 and I was like, "Are you ready to get picked up yet?" because like you know you just spent your time some time with him like come home by me and your daughter now. >> Mhm. >> And he was like no I'm not ready. We're going to go get some beer whatever. I'm like dude okay whatever. And then that night I after that that's when he really kind of just Well even before that though he kind of was starting to dry text me as if they had other girls over or something. I don't know who was all there that night. He wouldn't tell me. He keeps telling me it was just him and Braxton all night. >> Mhm. >> So I don't know. And then so I'm just want to make sure I get the story straight. So then uh sometime around 2, you're done going out. You're ready to go to bed. >> Yep. I said, "Well, I'm going home." >> Yep. And then 5:00 comes around, was it 5 or 6? I don't know. >> Uh well, he called me at like between 5:00 and 5:30 and I got there by 6:00. >> And then got there at 6. And that's when he came in and said, and he was in rough shape, that he shot shot him, and that's when you guys drove around and everything. Did I get that right? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Uh, what else has he said about that night that you haven't told me already? >> He won't tell me nothing else. >> Okay. >> Like, and I don't I don't know if he's for real, like just that that's all that happened or I don't know. This [ __ ] sucks. Yeah. I I don't know. Like you said before, um I have no idea what you're going through right now. No idea. I can try to empathize as much as I can, but I'm I'm not in your shoes. Um and I I know you're upset with me um just because of the position that I'm in. And I'm not really >> I don't want to be taken away from my daughter. >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> I'm going to let you have a couple minutes. >> Do you need a little bit more? Like I said, I'm not going to be able to understand what you're going through, but I want you to try and understand where I'm coming from and why I'm asking some of the questions that I'm asking. >> Just please don't be a chill. About what time did you drop off Perez and Braxton at the apartment? >> Like 6 or 7? >> 6 or 7. Why did you go back there? At 11:00 p.m. >> Go back where? >> To the apartment. >> I didn't go to the apartment at 11:00 p.m. >> Yes. I don't remember going back to the apartment. >> I was at my friend. >> So they just showed me your cell phone records, location records that so that you went back to the apartment. Why would these be wrong? >> I I don't remember going back at 11. Did you have uh text messages with uh you said you were talking with uh Perez. Did you have text messages with Braxton at all? >> Yes. >> What were those? >> Because he was because Pres wasn't answering me. Um I texted Braxton and I asked him. I was like, "What's up with Pres? He's not answering." And he sent me a picture and that's when Pres was passed down on the coach. >> Okay. And that's when 10. So then he told me that cuz I asked him I said, "Well, when should I come pick him up?" He said, "Well, 10:30 latest and if you guys can go on Braxton's phone, you guys will see that this is true." >> Yeah. Yeah. I know. I know what you're saying is true >> and >> right now. >> So I was like, "Okay, I don't know. Maybe I drove past. I don't remember that night like before that because I ended up getting drunk after he told me that he wasn't trying to come home by me. >> So, I mean >> I I really don't remember going back there though. I really don't. I had no reason to pull up. He told me he wasn't ready. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know. Maybe is it his records that showed up that because I didn't go there? >> No, >> I didn't go there. Not that I can't even [ __ ] remember. >> Okay. >> Honest. I don't know. >> So I I >> Well, maybe he lo I don't know. That don't make sense to me. >> And do you see why I'm asking the question? Things aren't making sense to me either. >> I know. And I'm doing whatever I can to [ __ ] stay out of jail. So I'm not going to sit here and lie. >> Okay. So you said you said maybe you drove by. Is there any reason other than Bra's apartment that you'd be in that area? >> No, I don't know anybody else that lives there. >> Yeah. So I'm having a hard time thinking of why you'd be over there as well. >> Me too. Now that now that I know that >> when when you dropped Braxton Press off, >> does it say I was in the parking lot or something like specific? Like does it give you a specific like specific area that I might have been in? >> Well, did you ever go >> because I was driving? >> No, I never went inside the apartment. >> Okay. So, your DNA wouldn't be on any of the Corona virles? >> Nope. >> Okay. >> All right. >> I don't even know which one they are in. >> Okay. Was Perez ever upset with a presumed relationship between you and Braxton in the past? >> There was never a relationship between me and Braxton. >> Can I I'm sorry. Contact >> contact information. I mean what? Can you reword that? >> I'm trying to think of a good way like a better way to put it. So for instance, when you turned 18, you went out to San Diego and then Braxton came with Was he upset about that? >> No. >> Cuz President is the one that wanted him to come out. >> Okay. So >> So I I I flew him out to California. That's when I got my percat money from Onida. >> Mhm. Um was Perez upset [snorts] with Braxton just showing up at New Year's? No, cuz he's the one who was telling Pres to come get him. >> Okay. >> And that's what we went and did. >> All right. >> He didn't just show up on New Year's. >> Well, it's just >> we met He was with other people and then he called and asked what we were doing for New Year's and then we met them at the Quick Trip by the casino. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, I don't I don't I'm having trouble why Pres would be telling us one thing that he I guess why would he be upset? Did you guys fly out to San Diego alto together? >> No. >> You said you surprised him with >> No, he knew he was coming. >> Okay. He knew he was coming. >> He He knew he was coming. That's the only reason how I knew he wanted to come was because of press. >> All right. >> So, is he like making all this [ __ ] up? I don't know why. That's [ __ ] up, dude. That's really [ __ ] up. He's trying to throw me down. [laughter] What the [ __ ] [cough and clears throat] >> Wow, he's crying. >> So, you can see why I'm so confused. >> Yeah, now I see why. >> Trying to get a story. >> He's making it look like I [ __ ] got everything to do with this and I don't. >> Okay, [laughter] >> that's [ __ ] up. What the [ __ ] Damn. It's like that the [ __ ] bro. No. So, one [clears throat] thing that that I'm hoping I could get some clarification on is Braxton or I'm sorry, Perez was passed out at some point in the night. >> Yes. >> And you got that message from Braxton showing him passed out. >> Yes. Pres is saying or at some point or another Press wakes up from being passed out. >> He woke up probably like a half hour after he sent me that picture and that was going on like maybe like a little bit before 10:30 because it wasn't I remember him texting me before Chris texting me back finally saying that he was sleeping and it was sometime before after 10 but before 10:30 because I was about I was getting ready to get my stuff together to go pick him up at 10:30 if he didn't text me by then. >> Okay. So, what's there's one thing that I'm kind of stuck on. It's he was passed out 10:30. Uh we're hearing stories that he woke up, you say about a half an hour afterwards. Um and we're hearing stories that that he saw you with Braxton. >> I don't know how that would No, >> I have alibis. But the time frame lines up with the cell phone records of you being at that apartment a half an hour after that text message >> cuz you told me it was about a half an hour is when he woke up. >> I never went by breakfast. >> It's just not adding up. What the [ __ ] No, I was never over there. And I don't know why that's showing that I was. I was with my brothers and my brother's friend that night. You can ask them. I never went there. I had my whole kid with me. That don't make sense to me. I'm just as stuck as you with this now. >> But you see where the the issue is? is the story that I said >> is lining up time frame. >> Well, check this out. Go look at Braxton's messages and see if I said here or come outside or let me in. >> Yeah, you said that. >> I did. >> No, not not at all. No, sorry. I was confused. You said here to Perez at 6:00 a.m. I'm sorry. I got that screwed up. Um, >> I did not. And especially if it's my boyfriend's birthday, why would I show up there? No, I was never there. >> So, >> I don't get it. >> Do you always have your phone on you? >> Yes. >> So, I don't know how this is even I don't get it. Maybe ask my brother or something if he remembers us going there that night cuz they were with me all night. >> I don't ever leave my >> I'm not going down for that. No, >> that [ __ ] That don't make sense. We'll we'll kind of move on from that. Um we can go back to it later, but I mean I I'm getting one thing on on records which you know AT&T they're not going to fabricate anything up. Um but >> I know it just it don't make sense to me. I don't >> Yeah. So stories aren't aren't adding up to that one. Um, but let's talk about uh when you went and picked him up again. >> Oh, no. I not Okay. No, I remember why I went over there. Or if I wanted to see if that girl Nicole was there because he told me his cousin Gracie was bringing him to the gas station to go get more beer. That's when he woke up. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, Nicole is Braxton's ex. She was one of them girls who were with them that night when they went and got all them girls on Braxton's birthday >> the 15th. >> Okay. >> So, yes. >> So, you do remember going? >> I do. Yes. Now, I do remember going over there and it was to check if she was there. >> Was anyone else there at that time? >> No, >> I didn't see anybody else's cars or nothing. >> Okay. >> That's probably why I forgot about it cuz nothing I went over there for nothing. >> Mhm. And when he went over there, where was PZ? >> He still wasn't answering. >> Okay. >> Because at that time, that's when he was saying that his cousin Gracie was supposed to pick them up to go, what's it called? Go get beer from the quick trip down the road. And he stopped answering me. I was like, "Is it really your cousin Gracie?" And then he just would not answer. And the next thing you know, he's saying that an Uber brought them. >> Okay. And I was like, "Bro, you guys don't Uber nowhere." And if anything, y'all would have walked. It's right down the road. >> Yeah. All right. >> And Yeah. I don't know. >> So, when you went there, like, tell me about going there. >> All I did was I drove to the apartment and I just looked to see if I knew any cars and then I pulled back up. >> Okay. So, you just drove through the parking lot. >> Yeah. >> Who was with you at that time? It would have been my brothers and that's the only reason why I would have went over there. >> So, you would have been there for what, a minute? Maybe. >> Maybe like a couple minutes. >> Couple minutes. Oh, I guess I'm going to have to do some addition here. Let me go talk to the person who was who printed this. So, I'm not good with these kind of numbers, but I can do that later. All right. So, a couple minutes through the lot. He didn't recognize any car. What kind of car does Nicole drive? >> I'm not specifically sure what kind of car it is, but I know it's I'm pretty sure it's either a gray or a white car with tan seats. I'm not specifically sure what brands she cuz I had her on Snapchat. >> Mhm. >> So, and she would always post like the inside of her car and everything and so I was basically kind of just looking for tan seats. >> Okay. So, you didn't see any cars with tan seats near the apartment? >> I really don't remember. >> Okay. >> But no, not cuz I didn't get out and look in cars or anything. [ __ ] I'm not creepy. >> Okay. But I was just like, you know, like looking. I don't know. >> All right. So, where what kind of cars were you looking for then? >> Well, [sighs] there's this Pontiac or Mazda that I'd be looking for. It's my baby daddy's ex-girlfriend, Kiana. And a lot of people are saying she was there that morning, too. Um, and Nicole's car. And then I was >> I'm sorry. Nicole's car is the gray and white car. >> Gray or white? One of them. >> Okay. >> Yep. And then a dark blue like either Pontiac or a Mazda looking type of car. And yeah. >> Okay. So drove through nothing and then you drove out of there. Do you remember where you went after that? >> Yeah. But it doesn't have anything to do with this. That's personal. >> Well, we have >> Okay. I went by my uncles. Damn. >> I wasn't pressuring you. >> [ __ ] >> Well, I'm sorry. I wasn't I didn't mean to get you upset. I I swear I wasn't trying to pressure you, but uncles. Okay. It's just I mean, you know, we have location data, so it's >> Exactly. >> Yeah. >> So, you could always just look for your damn self. >> I could um So, let's let's talk about um what did I say we're going to talk about next? >> And then I went to my uncle's because I wanted to wait longer to see if he was going to end up wanting to come home soon. And [clears throat] that's when like 2:00 was coming around. >> Okay. Okay. Oh, yeah. So, when when you went to pick him up and I know you kind of explained it to me, can you explain it to me again what it was like pulling in from pulling in to the apartment or parking lot to leaving what? And try and be like as detailed as you can from the start to the finish. >> Well, I was tired. >> Mhm. >> Obviously, it's going on 6:00 in the morning. >> Yeah. >> So, I'm tired pulling in there. [clears throat] And I called him and he didn't answer because he was on cuz he came walking out. Is that a spider? >> Nasty. Um. Uh. Hold on. Brain farts. >> Yeah. Take your time. >> Okay. Yeah. So, he comes walking out and he has the phone like kind of like this. >> Mhm. and he hops in the back and I like look back at him and like but he starts like talking to them. So I was waiting for him to get done talking and my god and um she asked what apartment number he was in cuz she said so you heard the gunshot. He he didn't say that he had called and shot him. >> Okay. >> So, he called him. She asked, "What apartment number are you in? Did you hear it from like maybe like up top side?" And then the phone died. Oh, no. You start I start pulling out and she said, "Well, do you see any cops coming in?" And he and then the phone died. He didn't even get to answer. >> Okay. And then that's >> And then I like I looked back at him. I was like, "What the [ __ ] are you talking about?" And he was like, "I just I just shot for accidents." And I was like, "What?" And I dead ass thought he was playing until we almost got close to my house. And I was like, "Well, I can't bring you to my house right now." Like, especially not the way that you're [ __ ] looking, you know, all shaky and >> pale like you just saw a ghost. Like, >> so I just got on the highway. >> Okay. >> To clear my own mind. like I wasn't going to go home and start tripping and acting weird around everybody like you know >> and that's when and correct me if I get anything wrong went on 29 towards Shauno right >> y >> uh that's when he threw something out of the window >> it's somewhere near the exit of do you know that big old car lot with all the new cars Bergstrom or something out there >> y >> right by that exit somewhere. >> Okay. >> That I saw. >> Okay. >> I don't know if it was a little before, but by the time I like looked >> Mhm. >> we were passing that. So >> So threw something out the window. Um did you assume it was guns or did you find out later that it was a gun? >> No, I already basically knew what it was cuz he don't ever just throw nothing out the window. >> Okay. Did Did he ever tell you what he threw out the window? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So you >> I didn't even want to ask. I didn't want to get myself that deep into it. >> Mhm. You know, cuz this [ __ ] >> Yeah. Yeah. So, he threw something out the window, went down. That's when your head was cleared, turned around. >> I turned around and shot him at this quick trip. >> Turned around, came back here, went home. >> And I >> basically enough was enough. And you guys, >> I had I had to go to bed. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> It was too much. >> Okay. Did I get all that right? Yes. All right. Is there anything that I missed or you want to change or something like that? >> So, think back on the entire entire timeline that we kind of went through and we we were kind of hopping around there. >> That's I that's pretty straightforward about what happened. Yeah. Really? >> Anything that you want to add or change? M I mean from afterwards maybe like I could tell you what happened ever ever since he went to got picked up at court. >> That's what you guys want to know everything. >> Sure. Tell me about that. >> Well, we got home. We fell asleep. His mentor shows up there like 11. Takes him to go get this car. I get me and my baby ready cuz I had to go get my sister from school. My mom's truck ran out of gas on me in the middle of freaking driving. So, I had to wait for him and his mentor to get back to me with some gas. And then I went and picked up um Did I have to pick her up? I mean, did I pick her up? I think I did pick her up that day still. I forgot. But and all I had all I know is I had to go pick her up and then uh he bec like people started like texting his phone cuz then it's already going like kind of like you know like later into like the day and everything and like they're um asking him like have you saw Braxton? Have you heard from him? He hadn't texted me and um he was just saying like no and stuff and like I I wasn't throwing myself in it. I was going to tell him well say this, say that. No, I'm I let him do what he was going to do and I already knew cuz the next day he had court. I already knew he was going to get picked up because everybody knew that's the last person he was with. >> Mhm. >> So I minded my business. >> Mhm. [clears throat] >> And I just took care of my daughter. I already knew. Mhm. >> So he went and stayed at his aunties that night. And then his Mr. Boyce texted him and said, "Have your girlfriend drive you to court." And I told him, I was like, "That don't sound fish of you." And he was like, "I don't know. Just cuz I don't have my license yet." And I was like, "No, he never tells you to. He knows you drive yourself to court." >> Mhm. >> And like, why would he just come out the blue and say that now? Why would he get you a car knowing you don't got your license? M >> like no. I was like so like leave your wallet and your keys or with me or whatever and because like I'm not about to be sitting here stuck at the courthouse like no. >> Mhm. >> And so we go in and we saw the three officers and I already knew. I was like you're going for real and [ __ ] >> and that's all. >> Yeah. >> Everything I know. >> Yeah. Have you uh talked with Perez while he's been in jail at all? >> Yeah, I talked to him every day. >> Do you talk about the case at all? >> Oh, no, not really. Okay. >> Just in the beginning when I was trying to get him to admit the [ __ ] >> Okay. But since then, you guys haven't talked about the case. >> Just like the only thing that we've talked about is how his re his revocation court got pushed back all the way to October and then we sit there and we try to think what he's going to get charged with. H. >> That's basically it though. >> Yeah. >> Anything else that you want to talk about? >> I just want to go home with my kid. >> I'll I'll talk with the um investigators. Uh see if there's any blank spaces they want filled in or have any additional questions and I'll be right back. Okay. >> Should I have my phone now? >> Not at this time. Okay. So, we talked with the the investigators on the case. Um there's still some stuff that isn't adding up for them. Um stuff that they know of um that they want me to keep talking to you about. Um and you know, it's like I said, I'm never going to be able to put myself in his shoes. Yeah. >> Um, and I'll be honest, I'm having a hard time even empathizing because I I just I I I wouldn't know how I would feel. Uh, do you know what I mean? Like I I can't I can't put myself where you're at. Um, but what I can empathize with is um, you know, having someone that you care about going through this situation, you got to feel alone. Um, that must be terrifying. Um, I >> You guys don't care though, so just move on. >> But I do care. >> Well, no. You guys are going to throw me in jail anyway. >> Well, that's not my decision. What goes on from here on out is not not my call. But it it I I can tell you it's got to be difficult. And I I can see why some of these stuff might be might not be adding up. Um, and I'm going to go back to um, you know, you being in the bedroom with Braxton and then PZ saying that he saw that happen. Why is that not adding up? >> I don't know. He must have somebody else. It's not me. >> Okay. I was never in a [ __ ] bedroom with Braxton. I've never been in a bedroom by myself with Braxton before. >> Okay. >> Ever. >> All right. Um >> like I don't know where they're getting that from. Where's he getting that from? >> But you see you see that's what I'm trying to do about that, too. >> Well, I can't do much about it cuz I don't even know. I was never there in the house. But what I'm hearing um is that presentingly [snorts] getting jealous over the years that he thought something might be going on. >> Okay. Well, what I what I'm thinking is he's probably thinking of Kiana, not Kana. >> Okay. >> That's what I I was never in there. I know. Kiana was talking to Braxton. She told me he was talking to Braxton that night. >> Okay. When When did you hear this? >> Like the next day. >> The day after. Okay. >> Yeah. Cuz I asked her cuz she was saying something on Facebook. She was I was just talking to him and like I texted her that you were just talking like to Braxton and stuff and like Yeah. >> So she was over at the apartment that night. He hadn't been. And he probably was trying to get mad at him about that. >> Mhm. >> Because that's his ex. >> And then she's the one that drives the dark Pontiac or dark or dark blue monster. >> Yeah. So, please let me know if you see that car pull up in there cuz then it was not me. >> Okay. >> But I know I remember I do remember driving in the parking lot to see if I saw any other cars, but at the time there was no other cars. >> Mhm. >> That I would have known unless she took somebody else's. But like I like I don't the la that's the last car I remember her having was a blue Pontiac. >> So >> Mazda looking type of car. >> Um did Press ever talk to you about um or when did you find out that Braxton was actually dead? I mean I know I know that um >> he told me that he died basically instantly. >> Okay. So that was at the same time that >> when I picked him up in the morning. >> Okay. Um, so was that while you guys were still in the parking lot or was that during the drive? >> During the drive. >> Okay. >> Cuz I kept asking him. I was like, "So like is he alive like or what?" And he was just like, >> "Did he describe that at all?" >> No. All he could do is [ __ ] shake his head. He couldn't even talk. >> Mhm. All right. And then he told you, and I'm sorry if I'm asking the same question over again. I'm just I just want to make sure I'm getting it straight. >> I don't care if it's going to >> So, he told you that Braxton cocked his gun. >> Yes. >> And then [snorts] uh Press was screwing around and shot Braxton with his gun. >> Yes. >> Did that you know of Do you know if President Braxton shared guns, shared ammo? >> No, they had their own guns. >> Had their own guns, had their own ammo, everything like that. Well, I guess Braxton gave Prize some the ones that they were looking for. The hot the hot pink pink [clears throat] tip, whatever. I guess Braxton just gave him those that day or not that day. >> It was either couple days or Braxton's birthday. He gave them to him. >> Okay. So, there was the hot pink [snorts] whatever rounds that that he was given. Okay. All right. So, um, were we ever told how Braxton died? >> H >> how Okay. >> So, um, he [snorts] he did die from the gunshot wound, um, with the hot pink out round, which was his round that, um, he gave to Perez. Um, so, so that kind of makes sense of they were sharing rounds and that would be in Pres's gun. >> Do you know if Braxton had a gun? >> Yeah, he always had a gun. >> Okay. So, Braxton had a gun, too. Yeah. >> But it was Pres's gun that >> that shot him. >> Okay. Thank you for clearing that out for me. All right. Um, the other I So I still go keep going back to you being in the apartment. >> Do does anybody have like proof of me being in like besides just records? Well, I mean >> maybe like a picture >> or did Pres say anything about like did he say if like Kilana like to like for me to turn around or something like what did he do? >> I I don't know what all the conversation was. >> See, maybe that's what you need to find out because I was never in there. >> Okay. Um so from what I'm being what I'm understanding is that was kind of the tipping point that led to this that there was suspicion by Perez and then what he saw was kind of the tipping point. >> Well, if he would have saw like if he would have saw me, he would have made a scene. >> He would >> and I would then I would specifically remember that. >> Yeah. Cuz he would have been upset. >> Exactly. And he wouldn't be he wouldn't have [ __ ] stayed with me or anything like >> he wouldn't have asked me to come pick him back up. >> Mhm. That was not me. >> Okay, >> that's funny as hell. That was not me. >> Okay. >> And he's not one to just sit there and like just like look. If I He He was never one to just sit there and look. >> Especially if he likes like like if I'm standing in the room with his best friend while he's sleeping and he wakes up and he supposedly sees me. He would have been like, "What the [ __ ] are you doing?" >> Mhm. [clears throat] And that didn't happen. >> I don't know. Because you were there. Because I weren't there. I probably wasn't there. >> Okay. All right, >> man. I wish [ __ ] Braxation was alive so he could [ __ ] come in here and say some [ __ ] That's That was not me. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I All right. [snorts] Is there anything else that you want to tell me? >> I I don't know what there is what else there is to tell you. I know you guys want to know more, but I really don't have nothing to do with any of this. >> Okay. I just want to make sure >> besides being this getaway driver, but really I didn't even think about it like that. >> Mhm. >> Like I was just [ __ ] stuck myself. [ __ ] stupid. I knew I should have just left his dumb ass [ __ ] years ago. [ __ ] All the [ __ ] I did for him. [snorts] Took him in. Took a gun charge for him before. I'll go talk to see if the investigators need anything else. Um, you're still good on water. Anything else I can get you that I'm able to get you? Can you ask him if I'm going to jail? >> I will. >> Thank you. For the third time, I didn't do nothing. I was never at Braxton. I don't know where to get that from. [gasps] Wow. This [ __ ] crazy. >> [clears throat] [snorts] >> Jesus Christ. >> [sighs] >> I'm sorry. One other question that the investigators had after this all happened after uh Perez was in jail. Um, pres ended up uh sending like calling you or sending a message, something like that that said, "Take care of my phone." What did that mean? >> He wanted me to smash his phone and it was in the car that you guys took. >> Okay. >> So, you guys got it. >> Did you smash the phone at all? >> Yeah. If Did you guys even go through his car yet? >> Um, I don't >> Otherwise, it's still in there. >> Okay. So, how did you smash the phone? You just threw it on threw it on the ground. >> Um, do you know how to reset phones or anything like that? No. All right. >> I couldn't even get into my old damn iCloud when they took mine. >> Yeah. >> I had to make a new one. >> Okay. Um, and one of the uh one of the investigators said they tried talking to you about where he threw the stuff out at before and you said a different location. 41 South. Yeah, I know. >> Why? Why did he say >> because I was still trying to help him and then that's when I was like he told me to just say that and then that's why I threw 40 29. >> You kind of see where that gets in trouble. >> I know. I know that. But that's why I also threw Highway 29 in there and gave them an exact location of where I thought it where we drove past. >> All right. So, so I mean >> I was honest but wasn't empathetic. >> Yeah. But you know those kind of actions kind of lead to this situation that we're in. Um so I I did ask them if you were going to jail and yes you are going to jail. >> So um I'll see what else uh they need um [clears throat] and then I'll be back. All right.
