That's not true. >> Well, that's my truth. >> No, it's not. It's not even your truth. It isn't even your truth. It's what you're choosing to tell us. So, just >> I'm not choosing for to tell you anything. I'm telling you the truth. >> No, that isn't the truth. >> Because you want to say that I have that I drag her home that I my intentions was, you know, outrageous and I, you know, just because A, B, or C. >> You could say you were trying to rob her. You could say I wanted her wallet. I wanted her money. There's a lot of things you could say. I just want the truth. >> Why are you laughing? >> I'm not laughing because I'm trying to tell you and you don't want to listen. >> No, no, no, no, no. You're not trying to tell me. >> If you were trying If you were telling me, we wouldn't be here. We'd be done. [clears throat] >> I'm telling you, and you don't want to listen. >> This is Ivonne Serrano. In the early hours of November 23rd, 2019, 21-year-old Daniela Tabaris Maya drove Serrano home after a night out with acquaintances from their Coral Springs gym. At about 5:55 that morning, Serrano called 911 and reported an unknown woman lying beside a vehicle in her driveway. That woman was Daniela. She had been shot once in the head. Police soon learned the two women knew each other and had left the bar together. Serrano said she had blacked out and could not remember how she got home. Detectives brought her to Coral Springs Police Headquarters to reconcile what she remembered with what investigators were finding. What follows is the full interrogation of Ivon Serrano, presented without commentary or interruption. >> Do I need to be present for that? Searching. >> Pardon me. >> Do I need to be present for Oh, hey, back. I'm back. I told you it'd probably be your shadow all day today. We've already >> No, we move around here. >> We've already I know. We've already spent so much time together that >> there's another officer there. >> Yeah. >> Do you mind if I use the restroom? >> No. Go right ahead. Your >> turn. >> Everybody Everybody needs to go. Right. >> Nobody. >> That's the way it is. >> Head there. >> That's the way it goes. Why don't you use this chair? It's a little bit higher. It's not so lower. or are you comfortable? >> I'm I'm fine. I'm already sitting down. I'm not getting up from there. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> Another recording. >> This is a battery for my police radio. Yeah, this one's just about gone. >> How do you They last? >> Yeah, they last a good 10 12 hours. But, uh I was using this one on Thursday alone. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Excuse myself for a bit. Batteries. Good. >> Okay. I'll wait till you get back. You want to hang out wherever? You don't have your driver's license with you, right? You said that. Uh, >> somebody took it. I don't know where it is. >> Okay, we're just going to wait for Dave to come back in and then we'll start. >> I'm going to get my license. >> I'll give it to you before you leave. >> Okay. >> The office is 6 ft to the right when we walk out of here. >> So, >> no, because you're asking me and I don't know where it is. I know that somebody took it, but I don't know. I haven't seen I haven't seen it since. >> Okay, we'll get it. Just don't let me forget. Should I be in the house for the for the searching or get the warrant or something or >> should you be in the house when the warrant is executed? >> No, you're not allowed to be in the house when they do that. >> It'll be one of our partners is typing it up. It should be done like any minute now. And then it'll be signed off by a judge and then like my partner said once we're finished, which we anticipate would be maybe by dinner time tonight. >> Wait, what? >> Maybe by like dinner time. Okay, I'm going to turn this on. had a bathroom break. >> Yes. >> And you had a chance to have something to eat, right? >> No, I didn't. But that's okay. >> You ate at home, though. You had that. >> No, I have Yeah, I had the the breakfast, but that was it. I don't I don't care to eat. >> You're not hungry? >> No. >> Let's just do a few things before we start. Just for the record, could you spell your first name, please? >> Y V O N E. >> Y V O N E. And do you have a middle name? >> Yes. [snorts] Lorena. Can you spell it please? >> L O R E N A >> and spell your last name. >> S E R R A N O. >> Could you provide your date of birth, please? >> And your home address. And do I have your telephone number correct? 7. >> That's correct. >> Okay. 703 is what your record >> Virginia. >> Ah, okay. [snorts] >> Gotcha. And is it a sprint? Did you say it was a sprint? >> That's correct. >> Carrier. >> Okay. [snorts] >> Okay. You did, after we discussed this case earlier at your residence, uh, agree to come in here with us to the police station. Correct? >> I didn't agree. You brought me, but that's okay. >> Well, I'm here. >> Well, no, let's let's not let's not wear it that way. Um, >> are you here because you want to be here? >> You weren't put in handcuffs, correct? >> Oh, yeah. >> You recall you weren't put in handcuffs? >> No, no, no. And you recall that in when we were sitting in the kitchen, Detective Young and I in your house, we told you we wanted to ask you some more questions that we're investigating the death >> of uh of Daniela that you were the last person that we know of that saw her alive. >> We asked if you'd come here and speak with us. Is that correct? >> That's correct. >> Okay. Um you know on television a lot of times when people get arrested they they read them their rights. Have you ever seen that before? >> Around the rights. I got >> I did it before. >> Right. Okay. So you you remember that your rights were administered to you by detective young >> already. You understand those? Any questions about that? >> Yes. >> You do not have any questions? >> I mean I the only question I have is that you mentioned I mean the obvious question is I'm getting arrested. >> You're not you're not under arrest. Actually you're free to go anytime you want. >> Okay. I'm just just No, it's an honest question. I don't I >> Right. Right. I understand you're not familiar with our procedures. >> Yes, I don't know. And I, you know, like I told you, I said, do do I need a lawyer to these procedures? Do even regardless of or in between >> uh what, you know, I, as I said, I'm I'm I have never been in this situation in my life. I It's my first time. I, you know, I'm not a thug or anything. So, I I have no idea what what is the procedure. Well, as Detective Young stated, he read you your Miranda rights at the house, right? And took a a statement from you. It was kind of Yeah. One of these questions with one of these, right? >> Um during that time, he explained those rights. You understood them, right? >> Yes, I did. >> Okay. And now we're also telling you as as we sit here that you don't you're not under arrest. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, that's why I was kind of starting to explain the whole thing about the movies and reading Miranda rights. Sometimes you read people their rights uh when they're under arrest and sometimes you read them their rights even when they're not under arrest. If you were under arrest, you would have been in handcuffs and you would have been put in a patrol car and driven here in a patrol car, but you were driven here in my uh department assigned vehicle. So that's that's kind of the difference. Um you explained earlier that you were out last night with friends. >> Yes. one of those friends unfortunately uh ended up dead in your driveway today and that you wanted to help us. So >> yes, >> uh if you want to discuss it with us, that's what we [clears throat] want to do. We want to take it from the top. So it's >> my understanding that you want to discuss it with us. That's why you came in with us. Correct. >> Yeah. mean I you know I I I like I told um >> Detective >> Detective John I you know I I told him everything >> that I can >> I'll tell you what I want to do. I wasn't I I'm I'm the lead detective on this. I wasn't present for the interview that you had with Detective Young. If you remember I came in late. >> Yes. >> And it could be that I forgot to ask you something. So >> No, no, that's that's fine. But you know what I'm saying? In addition to that, sometimes as time goes by, you start to remember little little things. So, we're going to start with way before this morning as far as you finding uh Daniellea and your driver. We're going to start with way before that. I want to get a little bit of >> history [snorts] uh on you and and have a better understanding as who who you are and who she was and what your relationship was with her. So, let's start with uh >> That's correct. >> Okay. How long have you been living there? >> Um give or take 12 years, I think. >> Okay. And you live there with your husband and >> my kids? Yeah. And they grow up there. They're gone right now. So, it's me and my husband. >> And what I have here is and my dogs. >> I'm going to go over this right with you is you have four children. 10. >> Mhm. >> Right now. Yes. >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> When did he leave? >> Uh he left Uh, Saturday. >> He's been gone almost. >> Yeah. Yeah. A week. Yes. It's been a week >> last Saturday. We a week ago today. >> Yeah. >> For work or for >> Yeah, for work. >> For work. Okay. >> All right. Uh, I also want to start with you're not working currently, correct? >> That's correct. >> But on a regular basis, you're going to a gym called Training for Warriors. >> Mhm. That's correct. >> Is that the gym at 9750 West Sample Road? >> I guess that's the address. Yes. This right behind the the hospital. >> That's right. Okay. Uh how long have you been going to that check? >> Uh I would say I want to say 6 months. I'm not sure, but yeah, maybe five, six, somewhere around there. Not more than six for sure. >> What What type of gym is it? Is it a CrossFit gym or is it a just your normal everyday like a UI or what? What type of gym is it? It's a training for warriors. It's an unusual name. So is >> No, no, no. It it doesn't have to be anything but warriors is, you know, lifting weights, running, um, basically is what it is, you know, by lifting weights. >> No boxing. >> No boxing, no nothing. No >> weight training. >> Weight training and running. That's the the thing, you know. >> Okay. >> No crossfit. I mean, they do with the boot camps on the on the weekends that, you know, >> tires and stuff, but >> yeah, >> that's that's about it. >> Okay. And when you go there, do you have an appointment with the trainer or you just show up whenever you want? >> You you wait. Well, I go to the five 5:00 class or used to go to the 5:00 5 in the morning and you go, you train and you leave and that's it. >> I mean, so they're all >> you have a group. Yeah. You have a group, you know, that you know, normal people that either work or whatever, they go at 5:00 in the morning, some will go at 6:00. So, you know, it keeps classes every hour on the hour. I I I thinking I guess cuz I only go for the 5:00 in the morning. I used to go >> You only >> one? Yes. >> 5:00 in the morning? Yes. >> And do the same kind of people go pretty much? >> Yeah. Much? Yeah. Most the same amount of people. >> How many people are in a class on an average? >> Supposedly on average is I would say maybe 10 12 somewhere around there. So it depends on who wakes up in the morning who goes with us and you know it's give or take you can have four people you can have 10 people you can 20 people you know no more than 30 I guess 2530 yes >> right are you friendly with the owners there do you know anybody by name or or the trainers >> uh yeah I know the trainers um Austin Nick and Rick that he is one of the either owners or some of the owner um But I don't I don't I I don't deal with him. I don't >> Is Nick Nick Senko is that? >> Yes, that's the one. >> Okay. Do you know what Austin's last name is? >> Uh Mloud. >> Mloud. >> Mloud. It's M C >> or L E O D. That's where it was presented. >> MC L E O D. And he's an owner as well or just a trainer? >> No. No, he's a trainer. He works there. >> Okay. And everybody at the gym is kind of like a close-knit group. Everybody's pretty friendly with each other. I guess last night there was a social gathering with people from >> the social. Yes. From the gym. >> So everybody >> people that I didn't know, people that I um you know see like you know like in and out, >> right? And somehow someone organized the a gathering for >> Yeah. It was who organized it? >> I think that was the owners or Rick the son. >> So either Nick. >> No, no, not Nick. Rick. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> So Rick, do you know what Rick's last name is >> by chance? >> No. >> No. But Rick's the owner and he organized >> at least one of the owners. >> He organized a social gathering for everybody at the gym. Almost all the members were invited or everybody was invited. >> Yeah. They put out something on Facebook or something that everybody, you know, and then everybody decide if who want to go or who doesn't want to go. Till today, I regret going, but that's >> When did you receive the invite? Oh, it was like a I wouldn't say like a week ago. >> Okay. I I I think it was a week ago and I didn't you know I put going but normally I say go and never go but I tried to give it a try this time and >> so what time what was everybody meeting at the prominade in coconut or >> supposedly supposedly I mean and I have a recording on my phone that you know I asked him say hey you know what time we're meeting uh and if so where are we going to meet or what time we're going to meet and Austin sent me a text said okay we're meeting at at the lobby. I mean, not the lobby, the the you know the movies on the front and >> is it the silver >> silver spot? Silver silver sport cinema. Yeah. And Coconut Creek. >> So Austin sent you a text >> yesterday. I boxed him. I I boxed him and asked him and he answered me and I said, "Okay, cool. Fine." So he said, "We're gonna be there at 7." And I was like, "Okay, so when I get there, he wasn't there. I mean, there was only a few ladies there." >> How did you get there? >> I Uber. >> Okay. Do Do you own your own vehicle though? >> Yes. >> And you Why did you choose to Uber? >> Because one, it was Friday and second, u especially on Friday nights. >> Okay. >> It's, you know, you spend more time in. >> Fair enough. So, you Ubered there by yourself? What? Yes. Did you do a Uber pool where you pull with people or you did Uber X? You rode on your own? >> Uber X, I think. Also, >> okay. Uh, >> but I rode back. I don't I don't know if it was X or anything, but I in and out by myself. >> So, the Uber picked you up from your home and took you straight to >> Did you see a movie? >> Yes, I did actually. >> What What movie did you see? >> 21 bridges. >> Any good? >> Yeah, fairly decent. >> Yeah. And how many people were at the movie would you say? >> I >> mean an estimate >> I would say like >> the ones that I see I could have like 20 maybe >> from your >> maybe. Yeah. From the maybe more because you know people gets in there early or whatever. >> Was Daniela at the movie? >> I don't know. I know because we bought the tickets. Uh, you know, if if you go in, you buy your ticket and you pick your seat. Uh, I buy my ticket and I pick my seat. My seat was on the top top top uh in the middle and they were sitting on on the middle of the theater scatter >> scatter around. So, do you do you remember who you sat next to on either side of you? >> [sighs] >> Um, there was a lady, a black lady with the husband, I think it was, and there's nobody next to me. And then the the next the seat next to it, um, a guy came late. >> They're from the gym. >> No, no, no, not from the gym. No, no, no, no. None of these people that I sat with, I don't know. For some, you know, I not from the gym for sure. Um, there were people that went to the movie last night. >> Okay. So, did you stay for the entire movie? >> Yes, I did, actually. >> And then what happened after the movie? >> And then I I you know, the thing finished and I I got out and I um talked with she's from the gym. She's she goes at 5:30. >> When? You said >> when? >> Okay. >> G Wen. Okay. Um, and we went to the restroom. >> Which which restaurant did you go to? >> Restroom. >> Restroom. >> In the movie theater. >> In the movie theater. >> Okay. [snorts] >> And and then we it was raining, you know, we walked out. It was raining and basically it's like, "Okay, where are we going?" And they she asked or something. I don't know what she did. She said, "Oh, no. It's the World of Beers." It was raining. So, we run there trying to find a seat. It was jam-packed. Um, she wanted to see outside. I said I'm I'm not, you know, my hair gets greasy. I'm not going to sit there. So we standing basically because and then the other people came in. So there was a group, you know, >> at World of Beer >> at World of Beers. >> And >> what time you think it was when you got there? About >> I didn't I didn't look on my watch, but the movie started almost at 7:30. 8 9 It's a 2 hour something movie. I I guess give or take. I don't know. You can look that up. Um, >> keep talking. >> And then, um, we were there and there was no seats, so we stand, you know, there waiting for everybody. Then everybody show up and then she got me a drink. We drink, we talk, you know, we were like moving around and talking with everybody and then she left. So I was like, "Okay." So I, you know, I um Nick showed up and I was like, "Oh, okay. Nice." And then Austin show up. He was already at the movies, but for one reason or the other I don't know, he was late and I was, "Oh, nice. Nice to to show up um here because you know I you said that you were going to show up at 7 and you he was." So it we were teasing about that and then everybody was talking and then deal with the husbands and this and that the other. So we basically gather one group in one side other group in another side and we just you know move around >> inside that world of >> okay [clears throat] >> yeah that movie is an hour and 39 minutes long. >> Yeah. So it started at 7 >> 7:30. Let's see 7:30 when it started >> would have been between 900 and 9:30 when I finished with the previews and all that. >> All right. So, while you were at the World of Beer, you were with Austin as you mentioned and you saw Rick and you saw several >> the live and everybody else that you know the in and out of the of the >> and Daniellea Tvaris, this is the person who's been identified right on your driveways deceased. >> Uh did you see her there last night? >> Yes, she was there. She was at the World of Ears and you know she was with um bunch of women the husbands and stuff like that and I was sitting in there and she was they were talking and we were talking and everybody was having a great time you know back and forth. Um >> do you remember what she was wearing? Was it >> Oh god. No. No. >> No. You don't recall what what Danielle was wearing? >> No. I didn't pay attention. It wasn't that wasn't on my >> cuz you know we're going to we're going to look to spot her on a a video there from World of Beer and see who was hanging around there and what what were you wearing? >> The only the only the only thing that I remember with her because um it was her hair that um you know when you go to the gym you normally um ponytail and stuff like that. So, you know, and then she had her hair did her hair down and it's wavy and curly, you know, like big waves. And yeah, that's, you know, that's something I remember. Um, >> that's what you remember about her last. The two of you did spend some time speaking with each other. Yes or no? >> No. No. No. We were we were talking on the table like, you know, like we were here now talking. Everybody was talking. So, it wasn't like one-on-one conversation. It was >> But, but did you speak to her? >> Oh, yeah. I did. I did. I did. >> Do you remember what about? >> Uh, no. We were making Oh, actually I do. Uh, we were making fun about another girl that I was there. Um, when they were talking, you know, all the women were talking about that and and I was like, we were laughing about the conversation and somebody asked me something and I asked somebody's like where is when? and the same reaction that you have like when when so she was like when when when it's like no it's when and so so we we were laughing about that because uh the other girl didn't understand what I was trying to say and and that was it and then you know and then um that was okay we didn't talk much of of of anything of substantial you know it was mingling conversation with everybody >> what did she today. I mean, I know you said it was, you know, minimal. You made fun of someone, but did you talk about I understand there was a guy that was trying to pick her up. >> Oh, yeah. No, that that was that was later, you know, when we got out of because we we were inside. We finally got a table inside. There was four there, you know, I sat down and everybody was standing, you know, around the table. And then one of the girls said, "Oh, you know, why don't we go to the other group?" So, we leave the table. And I and I told him say, "Hey, um it's raining out there. Why don't we stay here and then we bring the other people in because it was starting." And then um she's like, "No, no, no. It's not going to rain anymore." I say, "Okay, fine." So we >> Daniela said that. >> No, no, no, no. I'm not talking about Daniel. I'm talking about the group. I'm I'm not having a conversation with Danielle. we talking about with the table with the the lid. >> So, we move out and then it start raining and and I was like, "Okay, now you were the weatherman, you know, now it's raining. You're making fun and stuff like that." So, we walked in. Um I went I think No, I didn't. Did I go to the bathroom? I don't remember. Anyway, but he was there and then um this guy came and I honestly cannot say what the conversation was or what I was doing and I with her. >> Was he from the gym? >> No, no, it was a a guy, a guy and stuff like that. And I remember what the conversation was and you know and I saw that she was kind of uncomfortable type of and then I came and I say something like you know like a mom. I was like, you know, she's my daughter. Ba wa or it was something along those lines. I don't remember exactly what it was. And and he he's like, "Yeah, right. Whatever." You know, it's like, you know, like um like you're trying to shoot me off or something like that. And then um then we move we we we you know keep going through the basically the bar area and we start um and she's like oh yeah no that was that was that was cool you know your mom you're my mom and stuff like that and I was like yeah yeah you know um if you need help you know let me know. >> Okay. Yeah. Something something on those lines, you know, like the guy interference for her because she wasn't interested in the guy. >> Yeah. In the guy. So, >> did he did he get the hint and leave or did he kind of hover? >> No, he I I honestly I I think that he hover around a little bit. I don't I you know, after that I basically don't don't even remember even getting in the car. >> And you you were drinking that night. >> No, beer. >> Well, beer. Well, it a lot of people say apple is like hard lip right now. >> This might be a good time for me to show you a picture. See if you can identify anybody in it. >> Oh my goodness. Okay. >> Um, let's see here. This one right here. Do you know who that is right there? >> That's me. >> That's you. Okay. That's what I thought. [laughter] And how about this female kind of behind you? >> I >> with the >> the Yeah, that the wavy hair. That That might be her. >> You think that might be Daniela? >> Uh-huh. >> Okay. >> I think. >> And then um >> Oops. Now we have a a big blob in there. >> Yeah. It'll go away. >> You have a big blob in there. >> Let me go back to that picture. [snorts] How about this guy with the glasses? >> That was the guy. >> Is that the guy that was trying to >> That was Yes, that was uh You think because he's talking to her and she's standing here. You think that might be Daniela? >> Yes, because he was the Yeah, that that was the guy. I do remember him. It was I told you I don't know if the last conversation I told you this dark glasses remember glasses back there. >> Yeah, that was the one. >> How about this blonde? Long blonde. That blonde is uh she goes to the gym and I was laughing. Yeah, she goes to the gym and she was hitting on him. >> Does he go to the gym? >> Yeah, that's Nick. That's Nick. >> Oh, that's Nick. >> That's Nick. And I was before I was laughing with him. I said, you know, you had a a big target on your back now and all the women's are hitting at you, blah blah blah. And I was just, you know, having fun. >> Is that that's another female, right? That what that is or I don't know what that is. >> Anyway, >> let me let me see. Mhm. >> Is that a head? Long hair. >> Weird. >> I'm not sure what that is. >> Whatever that is. I don't know. >> Oh, yeah. Maybe that's a shoulder. That's a shoulder. Yeah. It looks more like a person this way. >> I don't know. As as you see, I wasn't even I was >> Okay. [laughter] So, that's Ivonne. And that's we think Daniela. And this is the guy that was interested in Daniela, we believe. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, >> so you that white tank top is what you were wearing last night. Okay. >> And the jeans. >> Did you The black tank top you were wearing when we were at your house earlier. >> Uhhuh. >> I thought you had mentioned that you were wearing that last night. >> No, no, no, no, >> no, >> no. I told him. >> You told me from the beginning. >> Okay. So maybe some maybe one of the patrolman got it wrong. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So how many beers did you drink? I pay when I give you one. I pay for two. That's three. And >> that's a water before. >> Great. >> Great. >> What kind of beer was it? >> It was It's called Lux uh something Kentucky. >> It's an IPA. >> No, it's not an IPA. Actually, it's a a very smooth beer. >> An amber ale. >> It's something like that. Yeah, it's it's light. It's not darker. >> It's It's not very strong. >> Four or 5%, you know, the alcohol content. >> I I know I I think it was more than that. >> More than that. >> Mhm. >> Okay. What type of person are you when it comes to drinking? I mean, you a pretty experienced drinker. You drink on a regular basis or >> No. No. Are you the type that can't uh hold her alcohol, so to speak? >> No, I I think that I've been, you know, [snorts] I can't hold my alcohol. >> You can? Yeah. >> How often do you drink? >> I >> in a week like in maybe the weekends. I mean, one one day or two. >> You're drinking? >> Yeah. And and I'm I have actually have stopped because I wanted to lose weight and I wanted to lose fat and I was trying to, you know, get in the process of of that. >> Okay. Uh, have you ever had an episode from alcohol to where you consumed so much alcohol that you blacked out? >> Like maybe >> once or twice, but that was like months back, years back. >> Years back. So since however many years back >> to now you've been consuming alcohol kind of regularly socially on the weekends. >> Not even socially on the weekends. I you know it's just putting every weekend that's too much. Maybe I'm talking about this very sporadic. It's like one you know one weekend one day two weeks three weeks go by another you know weekend or you know a month go by another weekend something like that. So generally if you were to drink at a Super Bowl party or a barbecue or something like that two or three beers, you you generally would handle your alcohol pretty well. >> Oh yeah. >> Yes. >> If it's you know it's not like high octane. Uh yeah, normally. Yes, I do. I do. >> Okay. So last night you had three beers. One person bought a beer for you and then you purchased two on your own. >> Yeah. >> So that's not like an unreasonable amount of alcohol to consume for you. that I but then that's that's that's the thing. I I don't want to lie to you. It's like yes is but I don't you know I think that that's the maybe before that is the last thing I I I after you know talking with the after that or maybe before that cuz I don't know when that picture was was taken I I I honest to goodness honest to God I I don't remember even walking out getting in the car and coming out I don't remember >> from from three beers you don't remember shortly there after >> I you know that yeah I don't know if the time from that photograph yeah I don't know if they're shots I I I don't I don't know >> you don't know if they're what >> if you know if there were somebody by shots or I don't remember could I mean like the picture is like I was trying to hold you something in >> like maybe you were laughing or something it's hard to tell >> yeah I see and I don't >> did you drink any shots I >> no no no well I don't want to say no But for what I for what I drink until I remember I didn't do shots. I didn't do anything. >> You don't remember doing any shots? >> No, I don't remember you know nothing. >> As far as your relationship with Daniela, you liked her as a person? >> Yeah, I I I you know I I have seen at the gym. She's a nice you know she was a nice girl. She um few times you know we work out and stuff. We laugh, but it wasn't I don't even I saw her like two or three times in the gym. Then I saw her again last night and I mean and we talked and you know and I I even say you know it's I I took her on my way and I was like okay you know I'm going to be your mom you know you know if you need help. >> Last night you did that. Yeah, that's what with the guy. >> Do you ever do that in the past for her? >> But no, I as I told you, I only have seen two or three times at a gym. >> Does she have your Does she have your phone number in her phone? >> No. Not that I know. No, >> cuz her phone will tell us in your phone. You understand that? >> Yeah. Yeah, I understand. >> Okay. What about email or Facebook messaging on each other on social media? >> No. >> Nothing. >> Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing of that nature. >> Okay. So sometime during the night and you got to the movie was an hour and 39 minutes and it started at 7:30 >> and by the time you walked over he said use the restroom in the movie sometime around 9:30 I would say would be safe to say you got to world of beer. >> Yeah I would say it was close to 10. >> Closer to 10. >> Yeah. >> And you think you remember it >> up until about the time that picture was taken which >> Yes. >> As far as Yeah. I because I remember the guy and I remember you know what happened with the guy and stuff like that >> and the conversation that I have with her that you know and and I remember the reaction of the guy that he said um yeah right whatever or something like that and he was you know kind of [ __ ] about it cuz >> cuz he was rejected. >> Yeah something like that and and that was that was it. I didn't think much about it, you know, and I was like, "Oh, you know, if you know, it's not my favorite story or if you need help, you know, let me know and I'm here." That was it. That was the only conversation that I have with her in that sense. >> But Daniela, has Dianiela ever been to your house? >> No, ever. >> So, let's talk about how you got home then, >> right? >> I cannot tell you. >> Um, I, as I said, I >> Austin is a person from the gym, right? >> How good of friends are you with Austin? as a trainer. Um I see him at the gym. I um you know he he's my trainer or one of the trainers. So when I do something wrong, he corrects me and that was it. Um but nothing special extra curriculum, you know, nothing out of whack. >> Okay. So, as you know, we've been investigating this since this morning, since the time you dialed 911. Uh, one of the things that we're doing is we're interviewing other people that were there last night. So, you're not the only person that's sitting in this situation. Okay? There are other other people being interviewed. There are five of us that work homicide and every single one of us is doing something right now. We've all got a task. Why? >> No. But it's funny because when you turned the corner, everybody was in that corner. Everybody from the gym was in the corner. >> Okay. Uh, what I've got here is a text message from Daniela's phone. Okay. Talking to Austin. >> Okay. >> All right. Uh, we know for a fact that Daniela drove you home. >> Okay. >> Okay. Okay. >> You understand? >> I mean, yeah. I you know it's it's obvious it's your car is there and I you know >> Okay. Well, it says here uh you got an Uber. Just got in. Okay. I was looking for you, but let me know when you get home. You got it. Where are you? I'm still here. I'm taking Ivonne home. So, this is Daniela saying, "I'm taking you home." >> This is at >> about 1:25. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So you understand that to our knowledge you are the last person to see Ivonne alive. You understand that right? >> Yes I understand. >> So that's >> Daniela >> why I'm to see Daniel Ivon you're >> see Danielle that's why I'm stressing the importance of interview here and for you to reach back and remember as much as humanly possible. Okay. Um, are you aware of the Maplewood community that kind of butts up to your street there? You got that yellow house to your left, the yellow one that they just blacked out the driver. You're facing your house, you get the yellow house, then you go a little further and there's a gate there, right? >> Yes. Yes. >> Guard gate there. >> There's guard gate there. There's camera in that guard gate. >> Okay. >> Okay. Um, so I I want you to keep that in the back of your mind. No, I you know I I I I do not deny the fact that the car is in my driveway. I don't deny you know you know it's obviously I don't remember getting into her car. I don't remember you know from there the drive or anything. I don't remember getting anything of that but ding the fact that it's in my house I assume that you know I was there. >> Okay. So yeah, I'm I'm not trying to say, you know, I'm not trying to hide anything. I I'm honestly honest about I'm telling you, I don't >> you don't remember coming home or how you >> I don't remember how I got home. >> Do you have any way of um with your Ring doorbell, which we we discussed earlier that you delete, but of telling us what is your normal path of going into your home? You've got your side garage door, your large garage door, and your front door. How do you normally go in and out of your home? >> It depends. >> If you do not drive, >> I normally get to the garage door, to the to the side door. >> Why Why do you do that? >> Because it's it's it's faster. It's it's one shot instead of trying to open two two things in the in the you know, you get the the the lock and one the bottom. >> You're saying you normally go in the side door? >> Yeah. like that. >> Like when you're looking at your house from the drive, you go around to the left and it goes right into the garage and then from the garage there to the to the Yes. >> Is it the same key? >> No, they're two different keys. >> So the key ring that you carry has the side garage door key and the front door key. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, >> but it's it's it's you know it's it's give or I mean not it it it just depends. I mean I I don't I don't pattern of what where when. It's just like okay I get there and I get in or get out or whatever. >> So then this morning when you got up to >> I'm going to be honest with you. I this morning it's it I I think that I was still drunk. I I was everything was blurry. Everything was uh I you know the only thing that I remember is seeing her >> Well, how did you go out the front door? >> I think >> Did you go out the front door, the garage door, or the side garage door? >> Honestly, I I you know, I I cannot tell you, >> Ivonne. There are >> there are certain things that I'm going to ask that are simple, like ground ball easy questions to answer, right? that you've already given the answer to >> that you've correct. Okay. So, uh keep in mind I I want to establish I want you to establish credibility with me. Do you know what that means? >> Yeah. I want >> I know I want to know that when you when I ask a question and you give me the answer that that's the correct answer. I don't like I said earlier, I don't want to work too hard for for the answer. So, I know you said you said to Detective Young, "Hey, you went out out this morning." So, how did you go out this morning? Front door, side, garage door. No, I think or a large garage door. I >> I think that was the front door. the front door. >> I think that was the front door if I if >> like I like I said. >> What time do you think that was? >> Right before you dial 911 and discovered. >> Yeah, it Yeah, it was right before that. It was like in out and I I saw, you know, thing on the floor. I I >> You saw >> because I didn't know >> who what or what the person was is, you know, the hair whatever the blood in the head. I I didn't recognize I didn't know who, you know, how I get to the house. So, I didn't know who it was. And I right away, you know, I went I don't know if I, you know, if you ask me if I kneel, if I bend over, if I what I cannot tell you, but I went >> Where were you going? Where were you going that you w Yeah. Normally, no, normally because I when in in the mornings when I I days off or something like that or, you know, or or something like that happened that I don't remember, you know, I I tend to to go either >> look to see what's going on, >> but not normally. Don't tell us what you normally do or what you tend to do. Tell us where you were going this morning when you stepped out of your house. Where were you intending to go? But I I >> Why did you step out of your house? >> I >> You still feel drunk from the night before? >> Yes. I I honestly I was >> Okay, how can I put this without you know you saying you know credibility credibility or or honestly? I I I I [sighs] want to say I was still drunk and I I want to say honest to goodness I there was two things either I walk I mean either I walk out of the house or I walk up in the car sitting on the on the passenger seat >> of which car >> of her car. >> You think he might have awakened on the front seat of her passenger? >> Yes. >> Okay. And that's and and I was sitting there and you know and I I I don't I didn't know how I got there but I saw the door open and I you know when you those small cars so you look out and and you see >> so you >> and I and I run around and and I try to to whatever and then I want >> that's a new that's a new memory that you have. Okay. >> Yes. And I but I don't want to, you know, cuz I feel that that you're like looking for for, you know, >> or we're looking for pieces of the puzzle to put them together. >> Okay. >> We're Listen, we're we're doing our job. Our job is to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Okay. So, we want to find out the whole truth. >> So, now at this point, you're you're thinking >> as we sit here that you're remembering waking up in the front passenger seat of her car. >> Yes. >> Okay. And when you woke up, >> I I I I I woke up and I like on a days not knowing, you know, how I got who car who who the car was or whatever. I look to my left and I see the door open and I see somebody on the floor. I didn't know who it was. I I I didn't know who what car it was. Uh I didn't know anything. I opened the door. I went around. I don't know if I kneel. I don't know if I I what I did, you know, bend over or whatever. And I went and and and I was like, you know, I I touch and try to to, you know, move her or something and then I saw that it was >> stiff or you know, hard >> and then I called right away 911. So, let's let's back up and I want to make sure I understand [clears throat] exactly what you're saying. So, um you're saying that you now you now remember waking up in the front passenger seat of Daniela's SUV and that when you you open your eyes, you kind of didn't know how you got there. >> Yeah. I don't know. >> And you didn't know whose car it was. >> And when you look over to your left, you see that the driver's door is open, right? Yes. >> And you can see at least some legs. >> Yeah. >> Like you can see that somebody is lying. >> It was a body on the floor that it was I don't I don't remember if it was the head. I don't know maybe it was the the the legs. I don't know what the arm. I just saw you know like a >> you know when you say a body blop there. >> So you you you get out your vehicle. I get out. >> Do you go around the front of the vehicle? >> I go around the front of the vehicle >> and you and you look and you can't tell. You're saying you can't tell who it was because there was too much blood and hair on the face, but you checked for signs of life >> and you felt like there was nothing. >> Yeah. I I you know I at that point I was like okay um I'm still you know trying to put my pieces together and then you know I was like where's my my phone? Where's my purse? I grab and I call right away. >> Well that's what I'm getting to because I don't want to leave any steps out. So after you touch her >> Mhm. >> You don't have your phone in your hand at that time. >> Yes, I did. You did. >> That's what I call it because I because I I woke up. >> Did you get out of the car with your purse and your phone? >> No, but I have my phone. My my I got a clip. >> Where was your purse at this time? >> In the car. >> It was in the car. >> In the car. >> Okay. So, okay. So, that's a detail I want to make sure that we understand. So, >> it was on the floor. Yeah, it was, you know, on, you know, like on the floor like in between your legs or something. >> But I didn't think about purse. I didn't think about that. >> That's why we're slowing everything down to make sure that we get every detail, which is important. So, when you get out of the car to go check on the driver, >> you have your phone on your hip, >> but you don't have your purse. >> Mhm. >> Right. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, when you >> I call right away. >> Well, you you go around the front, you look, you say, "Oh my god." You you check. Yeah. >> And then do you go back inside of the vehicle? >> Yeah. I I got and I grabbed my my my my my purse and I got in the house after I call. >> Okay. >> So I was trying to to you know it's like okay what what I can do. >> So you went back in the house. >> I I went I back in the house. >> Which way did you go back into the house? >> I think it was the front door. >> Okay. So you go in through the front door. >> I think I mean and don't quote me on it. I mean the ring is there. If I went to the front door, I >> We want you to We want you to think. We don't want to, you know, don't blurt out an answer unless you're sure. Take your time, >> okay? >> You know, and put your put your mind back to that time and try to replay it in your head so that you know, >> you get a good idea of what exactly happened. >> You know, we don't want to we don't want to go too fast. So, we don't want it to be confusing for you. You know, we're not trying to trick you or anything like that. you know, we ask you a question, we want you to think back and kind of replay it in your head and give us the your best memory. >> Like I said, my my best estimate and my best answer, I'm trying to give it to you as honest as I can I can be. Like I said, I you know, I woke up this I I walk around. I wasn't thinking about purse. My my phone normally clips on my my my pen that I had. I open it. I I call and then I I'm just trying to get my my stuff together, you know, my why, where, when, how, how this happened. I walked in and then I you know, then I walk out and I think that that's when I saw the the police coming in. >> The passenger door that you exited, did you leave it open or did you close it? >> I don't I don't remember. I think that I closed it. I I think that I closed it. >> Before you closed it, when you were sitting in the car, tell us the position you were in in the car. >> I was like, you know, when I woke up, I woke like this. >> Where where were your hands on the armrest on your lap? Was one on the middle? >> In the armrest like this, and the other ones, you know, like here like because there's I don't know. It was like this. >> Before you got out of the car, did you touch anything inside the car? I >> with blood on it or anything like that? Did you Did you lean over and touch anything? >> I don't remember. >> You don't remember if you touched anything? >> No, I don't remember anything. I was, as I told you, I was in on a days. >> Are you right-handed or left-handed? >> I'm right-handed. >> So, when you get out of the car, you don't remember. >> You open the door with your right hand on the door handle? >> Yeah. And I, you know, like like normally do whatever. I I don't even remember what type of handle it has. >> I don't know if it was like this. I don't know what's like this. I I really don't. I just opened the door, >> you know. >> And you believe you walked around the front? >> I believe I I I >> And then you went around to check on her and you touched her. >> Yeah. I I touched her, you know, the chest and and I I don't know if I touched anything else. I >> Did you get any blood on your hands when you touched her? >> Her shirt was covered in blood. >> I don't don't I >> And [clears throat] it was still dark at this time. >> Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was dark, too. I mean, it was like 5 something. My app says that sunrise today was at 6:45 a.m. >> Okay. So, question for you then. >> And I don't even know what time was it to be honest with you. >> Earlier at your residence, you stated that you came out, you saw her, but now you're remembering otherwise. >> And that you dialed 911 and you stayed outside because you know the Coral Springs Police have a good response time. So, you remained outside waiting for Coral Springs Police to respond. This is what you stated earlier. Do you remember that? I I do remember that. So now >> and I remember and you going to tell me that I you know I was lying and >> that's not what I'm going to tell you. >> Ivon Ivon, look at me. That's not what I'm going to tell you. Okay? And that's not where I'm going with this. What I'm going with this is this. You're now remembering something in a different way. And you're also remembering that you went into the house after you saw Daniela on the ground dead, right? >> Why did you go into the house? What did you do when you went into the house? I went to to to put my purse to take my my my it was like okay I want to put my purse in in the house and then I walked right you know it's like okay I'm going to open the door I want to see you know >> open the the motives that I had to work in I cannot tell you what the motives are it was instinct it was it was like I you know you walk into the house it's just like I'm going to You don't put my my my um my purse. I you know like I >> You put your purse down in the house. >> Yeah. I think that I went to the room. I I put my I took my shoes off. I put my purse down and I walked out and then uh Yeah, that was that was I think that was the only thing I did if I don't remember. >> And then how long were you in the house before you got 911? >> It was No, no, I I I called 911. So you're stay you're saying while you were in the house doing >> No, no, no. I got I I walk up in the car. Okay. I open the door. So you I look I saw the the the body. I open the door. I walk around. I touch her. I call right away. It was like one after the other. I did not go into the house and call 911. I did not uh the 911 was placed right at the moment that I you know >> did you stay on the phone with the 911 caller until the police responded? >> We could find that out if we if we need to >> find find out. I I don't I don't remember. I really >> So here here's my question and this is important one. Okay. You're wearing a white tank top last night. You you looked at a photograph displayed to you by Detective Young from World of Beer last night. You're wearing a white tank top and jeans, right? >> Now, when the police get there today, you're wearing a black tank top. >> Uhhuh. >> Okay. Where's your white tank top? >> Is I put them in the washer? And the reason that I put it in the washer was because I I think it wasn't it wasn't like it wasn't it was like when you have your hands or something that you you touch like it was and it was a white tank top and I was like okay I'm going to throw it in the washer. >> Well, you said that you didn't remember if you had touched anything. I >> I don't remember touching anything, but you touched her chest. >> I I don't >> I asked you if you got blood on your hands and you said you didn't know. I the only thing that I remember is that it I had like I don't know if it was in the moment or something that I went like this and I remember when I went went in and I put my purse down and and I just I you know and I look and I was like oh you know I have not red blood stains but it's like um when you when you touch something and then you You go like this or something. >> Okay. >> And and it was there and it's just a white on top. I was like, "Okay, I'm gonna throw in." >> Okay. So, >> so now now that you're questioning me about it, I mean, I I know how it looks, but you know, I didn't at the moment I didn't think of of of intent of malice, instead of anything that Oh, I'm hiding because I I kept my pants. >> Okay. So, I >> So, it was the white tank top. It's it's it's it's it looks dirty. It's like, you know, I just touched something. >> You stayed on the phone with 911 until the police arrived. >> I >> which was a few minutes. I I just could I I just got confirmation. Okay. You stayed on the phone until police arrived. So, while you're on the phone, you're telling me that you wake up in the car, you look over, you see the door open, you see your body, you get out, you walk around to the front of the car. Right. Uh-huh. >> You go over there, you put your hand on her, you check on her, >> you see that she's dead, right? You're on the phone. >> I didn't know that she was dead. She was not responding. She responsive. >> You're on the phone at this point with 911 on the driveway. This is what you're saying, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. Now, while you're on the phone with the dispatcher, they're asking you questions. During that time that they're asking you questions, >> honest to you, I'm going to tell you something. I don't remember what the question was. I don't remember my answers. >> We can listen to it. It's all recorded. We can listen to it. >> And I don't I don't But what I'm trying to tell you is >> I I was I I guess I was still drunk. I was still dazed. I was still uh you know trying to get my bearings on. I don't remember. I do remember calling 911 and I I think that was the adrenaline or whatever. I don't I calling I don't know you're >> if you don't remember the questions or what was discussed with 911 that's not a big deal. >> Okay. >> Those phone calls are recorded. We will listen to it. It's not >> what I I don't even want you to focus or or waste brain power thinking about what you talked about with the 911 caller. I want you to focus on what you were doing. You were multitasking is what you're telling me. I I >> Okay. What you're tell Wait a minute. What you're telling me is is while you're on the phone, cuz you immediately called when you saw her on the driveway, and I know for a fact that you stayed on the phone with with the 911 caller until we got there. So somehow while you were on the phone, okay, this is where you're going to lose me. You managed >> to go into the house, put your purse down, take off your shirt, put in the washing machine, wash your shirt, and put a black tank top on. Well, if not exactly. I'm not >> in seven minutes. In seven minutes. >> Well, still talking on the phone the whole time. >> And your your your tank top is where right now? >> It's in the >> We know where it is. >> In the laundry. >> In the washer or the dryer? >> Neither. >> Where is it? >> It's hanging. >> Correct. So, >> it went through the washing. >> Oh, no. I I I I pulled it out um like um later. I think that you guys were still there right before something like that. >> Ivon, um, it takes time, much more than 7 minutes for clothing to cycle. Okay? It doesn't take 7 minutes to put detergent into a washing machine while you're on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. Take your shirt off, change, put a new shirt on, run your your shirt through a cycle, get all the blood out, take the shirt out, and then hang. >> No, no, no, [laughter] no, no. Don't take all the the blood out. I'm telling you, it was it it was not even I mean it wasn't even it was when you like when you >> Yeah. But how long does it take your m washing machine to cycle a load of laundry? >> God, I don't know that it depends. Hour and 20 minutes or something like that. Okay. But I now >> So your white tank top was washed in your washing machine. >> Yes. >> Okay. So >> it was there. It wasn't even in the dryer, right? Just pull it out and put it out. >> That washing machine takes quite a long time. >> I got you. And I understand that. >> So we have to account for that time. No, I I put him there and and I think that I was running when when when the guys were out and stuff and then I when you guys I think you you were there for a little bit before or you know during the girl came in I it was already done because I I think it was a quick rush. It wasn't even like nothing cuz I wanted to get, you know, doesn't get the stains in or these things because it's white tightened up. >> So when was it that you took that shirt out of the washing machine? >> It was after police were there and the female officer was >> it was like right before her got in. It was already because like in quick wash is like 15 minutes, not nothing. And I had off some towels and stuff like that. And I, you know, and I I remember pulling it out, you know, it wasn't bad intent. It wasn't malice. It wasn't anything. I, like I said, I don't remember what the number one. I don't know how long it take. I The only thing that I you said think much of it, it was waking in the car on a days and moving around. And as I said before, I don't know if I kneel. I don't know if I touch I don't know what but I made a call and then I said look you know after you know I I I don't know what my emotions were at the moment but I did notice that it was like you know when you got your pants or or anything that you >> is that the only thing that you put in your washing machine that one item. >> No it was a towel too. >> What was the towel placed in there for? Uh because my daughter was there the night before and um she used it and I I was you know >> Okay. >> And it was there before. So >> I want to change I want to change the channel. I want to come back to that. Okay. Cuz maybe you'll remember more as we go. You own a gun? >> Yes, I do. >> What kind of gun do you own? >> I had a 9 mm Taurus. >> You had or you had >> half. >> Okay. Is that in the same >> a 45? um clock and those are in the car. >> In your car, in the house? >> Yeah. >> What about in the safe? What guns are in the safe? >> Uh I think that my husband has uh AR and has a I don't know what else he has there. >> Okay. You have two pistols in your vehicle? >> Yes. >> And you can >> actually No, actually one one is in the in the the thing and the other one is in the in the weird back bag back. That's when I go to >> You have the concealed weapons permit? >> Yes, I do. >> So, you carry a gun? >> Yes. >> Did you carry a gun last night? >> Uh, no. >> What makes you determine when you're going to carry and not carry? >> Uh, when I go with friends and drinking or anything that, you know, it's a movie I didn't know for the movie. >> You're saying you do or you don't in those situations? >> No, I don't. I don't. >> You're saying you don't? >> Don't. >> Okay. And normally the one that I carry in the car, it's, you know, when I'm and I don't normally don't carry it on me, but it's in the car. >> Which one do you normally carry, the 45 or the nine? >> Uh, on me rarely I carry on me any in the car is the nine >> and in the back. Yeah. In the in the in the back is the the >> in the trunk. >> Yeah. So, it should be the thing you open there. I I had there when I go to the range. >> Okay. >> And then uh Yeah. >> What's the combination to the safe? Okay, >> let's go back to the video camera and the community next to you. Okay. >> All right. Video cameras, you know. motion activated, right? >> I guess. I don't know. >> So, video camera's got the car pulling into the driveway and no other car coming and no other car going. >> Okay. >> Okay. Now, I already know at this point in time that you're lying in some ways because, and I'll tell you why. I know that you didn't spend the entire night in that car. >> I didn't? >> No, you didn't. >> Okay. So, you're sitting here and you're saying that you're remembering waking up in the car this morning, but I know that that's not accurate. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Then what what did I do? Cuz I don't you know, >> I want you to tell me what you do. >> I honestly I don't if if if I I I don't I mean I I cannot make stuff up. I don't remember. >> You have four children. >> I do. >> Two of them in Afghanistan. >> Yes. >> Your worst nightmare is getting a phone call saying that one of them was I understand. >> Correct. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> Okay. I understand that. Okay. And I cannot tell you. >> You know, you said that you know. Well, if you know, you tell me because I don't know. >> Well, [sighs] >> you said that I didn't spend the car. You didn't say I I don't, you know, >> let me go back to the this car here. >> Please tell me. >> Okay. >> You know, because I need to leave it myself. You remember what time you got home? >> No, I don't even remember getting in the car. >> I believe it was a little bit after 2:00. Okay. And shortly after that, lights come on inside the car. Okay. Why does the dome light come on inside of a car? >> Door open, >> right? Don't you think that that's important? >> You were the only two people in the car. There's nobody else in the car. >> Okay. You go to the shooting range, right? >> Yeah. But that's >> So, you're pretty familiar with the guns. >> Yes. >> I mean, not I mean, >> when you go to the shooting range, shooting range, you wear headphones, right? On account of the sound cuz it's very, very loud. Right. >> Now, with only three beers in you, which is not a lot. You said earlier in the interview that you can handle your alcohol well with only three beers in three beers in you. Does it sound conceivable to Does it sound conceivable that you are so intoxicated that you wouldn't hear a gunshot go off inside of a vehicle without without your protection? Does that sound possible to you? >> So, you're trying to tell me that I shoot her? >> I'm not telling you anything. I'm asking you questions. >> I cannot answer you question. Honestly, >> I want to know how I can explain to Daniellea's mother that this woman here who who who cares about her, right? Who acts motherly towards her at the bar, gets a ride home from her because she's intoxicated and then initially tells us that you were inside, walked out and found Dianiela. Now changed it to you fell. >> I knew that that was going to come. I I'm I'm asking you how how am I supposed to make sense of this at this point? >> I like I told him and I I I told you I do not remember. I do not. You just said that I do not remember. >> Have you ever seen a dead body? >> No. >> Okay. Was it pretty traumatizing for you? >> Yeah, I guess. Can it let's let's let's be reasonable here. Is there anything worse that you've ever seen in your life other than what you saw today? Have you ever seen anything worse than that? >> No. No. And for me, the the the the thought that you telling me, okay, and I don't remember that I did something I it just >> so >> I cannot conceive it. >> Here's where I'm going with this. Considering you've never seen anything worse. Yes or no? >> No. >> You have had the presence of mind after seeing what you saw and going in through the front door when your Ring Ring doorbell is motion activated. You had the presence of mind to delete your Ring doorbell footage and go in and wash your shirt. Do Do you understand? >> I know. I know how this looks. I know how I know how it looks. >> We We We're We're here. We're here an hour now. Now it's time to stop. It's time to stop and it's time to it's time to move to the next phase of this interview here. >> Okay. >> Okay. That depends on you. >> Okay. >> You know, ballistics, things like that. All all these things are going to come into play. >> I know. >> Okay. >> So, you you understand what I'm saying here? >> I understand what you're saying. I I I got it. You got ballistics. that you know and the just the thought. >> Was it an accident? >> I don't know. >> Tell us how it happened. >> I don't know. >> Because nobody can believe that you wake up next to a person who's been shot to death inside of a vehicle and the shot doesn't wake you up unless you're already awake. Do you understand? Do you understand the big common sense problem with that situation? >> I I understand, but at the same time, it's, you know, I understand what you're saying and I comprehend, you know, all the all the legality, you know, the the the the bang and the stuff like that. >> I >> there's no way you can be drunk enough not to be awakened by a gunshot inside of a vehicle. So there has to be some kind of a better explanation of how this happened other than you meant to do it >> or it was an accident. >> Oh god. I I you know I >> like detective Brendazzo said >> we are now an hour into this. It is now time to move into the next. >> Okay. >> How can I say this? I You want me to confess something that I don't know? You trying to make me confess something that I don't remember. honest to goodness I don't either allow shot gunshot whatever and for the life of me just now that you telling me I [laughter] I >> we can we can tell by how cold her body feels how long she's been there. I understand. So So we know that you know this was a lot sooner than this morning at 5:55 when you dialed 911. This was enough time for you to wash your shirt for you to >> Now my question is there's no blood on your door knob. There's no blood in your You had to have cleaned up. >> No, >> you touched your bloody body. >> I >> and enough to get blood on your hands to have to wash your shirt. There had to be blood inside your house on the door. On the doororknob on the >> My question is this. Why >> would I do that? >> Well, there's a lot of reasons why accidents happen, you know, >> you know, and especially when they're drinking. And I was honest with you about, you know, that nightmare as a mother and I I cannot conceive. I honestly I I know >> more accidents happen with alcohol involved, you know, >> and I God I I I cannot even believe in myself if if if if it's true what you're saying. And I'm not I'm not being hypocrite. I'm not being, you know, trying to hide anything. I really don't. >> Well, I'm sure you watch movies, television, CSI movies, detective movies, things like that. One of the things most people would know is is, hey, if I lean down and I touch someone because I want to check for vitals or maybe I'm going to do CPR, see if they're alive or dead, I get blood on my clothing or blood someplace. To be completely honest with the detectives and the patrolman when they get there and tell them, "Hey, I just want you to know I got blood on me. I don't have anything to hide. I didn't kill this person. I've got blood on my shirt. But you elected to go into the laundry room and wash one shirt and one towel. I can only assume is the towel that you wiped. >> No, no, the towel was in the wash with um that's neither here nor there. The point is is the average innocent law-abiding citizen doesn't think of things such as let me delete ring, let me wash the blood off of this tank. So, you're trying to tell me that it was deliberate and I I I made all this just because [clears throat] >> it could have been accidental. >> Yeah, but you you're trying to tell me it was accidental or was intentional or was whatever. And I cannot give you an answer because I don't know. Either I black out, I don't remember. I I I pass up. I told no. And I don't know how to communicate this to you guys. I know I'm at this [ __ ] [ __ ] because you know I I hear you saying, >> "Did you change Did you change your pants, too?" >> My who? >> Your pants. >> No, no, no. My pants were the same pants that I had. >> What What shoes were you wearing? >> Uh sandals. Were you wearing those sandals that our crime scene technician took this morning? Same ones? >> No, she No, no, she she didn't she didn't ask me for shoes. >> Where are those sandals? >> In the bathroom. >> Okay. When you walked around and you saw the body, were you cognizant of the blood? >> Do you know what I mean when I say that? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If if I know there was blood, I I Yeah, I was consent of the the mud on the head. >> No, no, no. Like when you ran around the front of the car to go check on her. Were you Were you thinking to yourself >> cuz you you're pretty aware of the the blood on your shirt, right? You cleaned it. >> I better not step in this blood as I run around. >> I I >> Did you have no regard for that whatsoever? >> No. I >> What part of her body did you go to? >> To to to the to the to the front. I I I [snorts] think it was, you know, the chest, the arm. I touch I think that I touched her arm. >> Okay. So, you think you were so >> And I I tried to to do this to her. >> I It's >> when you were sitting in the car with Daniela. >> What were you guys talking about? >> I will repeat myself. I don't remember. >> We don't believe that. >> Well, okay. You remember everything else. You remember how you got home? >> No. >> Okay. You remember the the path in which you went into your home which was via the front door. You remember erasing the Ring doorbell. You told Detective Young. >> That was the next morning. You you asked me how I I I don't Okay. I don't remember getting out of World War. I don't remember getting in her car. I don't remember getting into the house. I don't remember. Oh, you know what? You said getting into the house or out at that night that or what happened to her? I I >> You don't remember that because you drank three beers. A woman who can consume alcohol and all her alcohol. >> I And I repeat, I got my three beers. I don't remember if I drink some more if I did shots. And that's you can, you know, you can >> Ivon, you don't get to change things. You when I ask you early on in the conversation, what type of drinker are you? Are you a social drinker, weekend drinker? Are you capable of handling three beers? Yes. How much did you alcohol did you consume at World of Beer? I bought two beers and someone bought me a beer. That's three. Now, here we are now. Lady, you don't get to say, "I don't remember cuz I may have done shots and I may have done >> No, no, no, no. I'm not I'm not saying that. I don't I said and I told him exactly." I said, "For what I remember, I took three beers and I said, "Okay, somebody buy me one. I bought two." Okay. And that's what I recall and I don't have to lie about that. And I told him they were 8.5 APV AP whatever. >> She told me three beers, 8.5 alcohol. >> So after that I you know I cuz you know it happens once that I you know I drink and that happened a few years many years back. I was I was I told one of my friends we were drinking and I told him and say I only going to do one shot and and and and I woke up the next morning or not the next morning but like few hours later or the next morning I remember and I called him and say hey I remember you paying the bill and I don't remember you we have one shot and he said No, it was seven. So I'm not lying here about that. And I >> So now you remember have having a conversation when you paid the bill and >> No, no, no, no, no. I'm talking about But this is this was another time. >> This is another time. This is a different situation. What I'm telling you is that >> you're saying that there was a time when you only remember having one shot. Bill showed there were more than that. >> Yeah. Oh, I you know I called the person that I was and I said, "Hey, you know, I thought that you were paying the bill and it was only one shot and then and I said, "No, it was seven." >> So, how do you carry your gun when you carry it? You have a CCW. How do you carry your gun? >> You carry it on your body? You carry >> in the car or in the purse? >> Okay. So, what kind of holster do you have in the purse? the it's it's the same one that that I if if I had to carry on. >> It has like a clip and you can put it on the inner part of your belt, right? >> So, let me ask you this. Is it possible you were drunk, you reached into your purse, maybe it wasn't in the holster to get your keys and there was a tragic accident. That gun went off inside the car and you just don't know what the hell to do and you're panicked. >> No, >> maybe Danielle. the gun went off and you got startled and you said, "Oh my god, I can't believe what just happened. What do I do here?" >> If if that would have been the case, >> I would be telling you, >> but you washed your blood off your shirt. >> You deleted the videos. >> I normally That's I normally delete my videos all the time. >> You cleaned up your house. There's no blood on your doororknob. There's no blood. >> What's going to happen when the bullet when the ballistics come back and the bullet matches up to your gun? What? This is your chance to give us that explanation now. This chance won't come around again. >> Okay. >> So then what happens when when in an hour from now >> if if the ballistics >> come, >> you know, I I will sustain the same thing I'm telling you because I'm not lying to you. Okay? If if if if it was an accident, if it was that that you know if if according to you, if it was intention, I cannot >> nothing is according to me. It's according to you. >> No. >> Okay. You were there. We weren't there. If it was an accident, this is your chance to tell us because we're going to find out very soon. I know. >> And it's not there's not much of a science to it. Okay. The striation pattern is inside the shell casing. We got the shell casing. Okay. The shell casing is on the floorboard in the car. We have it. >> Okay. >> That's the truth. >> Okay. >> It's it the the shell casing >> is a 9 mm >> and we're not only going to look in your house. We're look we're searching now behind your house and everywhere. >> Okay. No, that's okay. You can search anywhere. >> It's over. It's over. >> I understand that it's over and understand where I'm going with this. >> I know, Daddy. I'm going to get arrested and I'm going to >> The the the bullet's going to match up to your gun, isn't it? >> If you said so. >> I'm asking you, is the bullet going to match up to your gun? >> I don't know. >> You're the only one who could possibly know the answer to that question. >> I I don't think you want to admit because you think by admitting what you think what you really know >> that we're going to think you're a horrible horrible person. You know, accidents happen. >> Listen, I am not thinking about I'm a horrible person or whatever. I I really honest to be remember what you want me to say. It was an accident, wasn't I? What >> What do you want me to say? >> The gun is already going to the lab. >> The VSO lab. The shell is going to the lab. >> I understand. I understand. >> It It's a 9 mm bullet. It's going to match up to your gun. This is your chance to give us an explanation as to how that matches up. >> And if I don't have an >> How did the gun go off? What happened? If I don't have an explanation because I don't remember how how do you pretend me to elaborate of on something that I >> I don't pretend. >> It's not that I if I would to say I shot her, I cannot tell you if I did. I don't remember if I didn't. I don't remember if I I don't I don't know if it's going to match or if it's not going to match. Believe me, please. You understand the process? >> I understand the whole thing and I'm I might and in jail I I got it. I I but I don't I I don't know how to tell you. I do not remember. I do I you know and you said that. Oh, you know the the shirt, the this, the clean, the that I don't remember. >> But you remember washing the shirt. >> You remember washing the shirt. You remember erasing the Ring doorbell. I >> you remember erasing the ring doorbell you told Dave. >> Yes. I normally that's what I do. It's just a normal thing. >> You know what? And I understand that to a degree. There are people who are deleters. They delete. They like their inbox clean. They like their email clean. But not when you find a dead woman. When you see the most horrible thing you've ever seen in your life, you don't have the presence of mind to think, "Oh my god, this poor girl with her whole life ahead of her, 21 years old, is dead." But every day I I delete my my ring. So I stick to my same routine. You don't stick to your same routine when you experience what you experienced. Whatever happened I I'm trying to wrap my head around why it happened. Okay. If you were with her and you were motherly to her and you were protecting her from this stranger, how did she wind up dead? Maybe you were showing her your gun. She wanted to see your gun and it was it accidentally w >> It won't help you to lie anymore. It won't help you. You won't help yourself. I am not trying to help or unhelp myself. I am telling you the truth. I am telling you I don't remember. >> I want you to help yourself because when that bullet matches up to that gun, it's over. You understand that? >> I understand. I understand. >> So, the explanation is here and now and that's it >> because the gun's already recovered. >> But what? >> We We have We got a search warrant for your house. >> Okay. I Yeah, they're sponsoring my house. So, and we got the shell from the car. >> Okay. >> Okay. We've got a lot of evidence. We've got other things, too. >> Okay. And we've got you admitting to cleaning your shirt and deleting the ring. >> Those are the only >> If you were a spectator, >> those were my my two sins, >> you know, that I I did, you know, I didn't do it with the intention. I didn't do it with the malice or anything. >> Maybe maybe not. Maybe the whole thing was an accident and you panicked. Most people would panic in a situation like that. I mean, god forbid something like that happens and and you think to yourself, "Wow, people are going to blame me and think I shot her and killed her purposely." And if it was an accident, they still might not believe me that it was an accident, right? They may think that I did it. So, let me cover as many tracks as humanly possible. Now we've got your phone. Anybody that you called be between the time you don't remember and this morning. We're going to talk to those people. Is there that one person on earth that you confided in that you told about this thing that you looked to get advice from that you text messaged? Everything is recorded. >> You you I know that I understand and that if if I wouldn't have something to hide. Well, I'm I'm going to rephrase that not to hide, but if I want to hide something, I wouldn't give him the phone to him. And I I was very open to you because I said, "I do not remember. I don't know how it happened. I don't remember nothing. If it was an accident, >> if your call log was deleted, >> we don't know if you deleted something and you thought maybe once it's deleted, we can't get it back." >> I know that No, I know that everything is is is is [clears throat] recovered. I understand. >> The same goes with the ring. So if the ring shows you walking in four or five hours earlier, which we know, we know that she was killed much earlier than 5:55 in the morning. We know that. We know that from her body. >> Okay. >> Okay. The signs of her body, the rig of mortars, we know. >> So, so what I'm saying is this. If we know that >> and we see you going in on that ring door, but even though you deleted it on your phone, it doesn't mean it's deleted forever. I >> when we see you walking in that house earlier than the time that did you say you walked in that house after you died 911 this morning >> if I remember yes >> you because you told us that you now remember waking up in the car you told us that after you >> I honest to truth I like I said I you know God if you know if if if I kill her you know I I I will pay the price you know if if that was the the the bullet you know that was on my gun. I I accept responsibility, but I do not remember. I don't even know how it happened. It's not in me. Why I'm going to go kill somebody if it was an accident? I don't know. I If you know, you say I erase. I do. I You know, >> you're a single woman, right? And you're alone at home right now. Okay. Your husband's out of town. Your kids are out of out of the house. You go out with the girls. You carry your gun. We know you had your gun last night. Okay, we know you had your gun last night because you're by yourself. Some creep in the parking lot or who knows what. That's the perfect opportunity to carry your gun. You've got kids in the military. You go to a shooting range. You've got experience. We know you had your gun last night. >> Right. >> But what I'm saying is >> yes or no. >> Yes. >> Yes. You had your gun. >> I I had my gun. I'm guilty of that. And you carry your gun in your purse. >> I did carry my gun last night in the purse. Yes, I did. >> So if again there was an accident in the car, there's only one opportunity to tell us that and that's here because it doesn't matter what you say anymore. Once the bullet matches up to that gun, it doesn't matter what you say anymore. You've got a lot of time to account for here, too. >> So just say it. But what do you want me to say? >> Just say it. >> What? >> We want you to tell the truth. >> There's a lot of missing time. The video shows you pulling shows Daniela driving you into your driveway a little bit after 2:00 in the morning. >> Okay. >> Okay. The 911 call. >> It was a 5:45. I recall if I see my phone, it's it's in the lock. I think >> more than 3 hours. more than 3 hours later. And we know that 911 call wasn't made immediately after she was killed because of the condition of the blood running down your driveway being coagulated >> and her body having stiffness like it shouldn't have. Plus, it's been there a while. So, your timeline doesn't make sense. >> Okay. >> See? So, >> and I and I would love you to tell me because I do not >> I wasn't there. You were there. >> No, no, no. Listen, I would love you to tell me. >> Ivon, please stop saying that. >> You know, please >> where? What? >> You can't fall back on I don't remember. I don't remember. I don't remember. >> But is the truth. >> Nobody's going to believe that you don't remember. I know it's difficult for you to face what happened and I'm sure it was a tragic accident, but you know, put yourself in Daniela's mother's position. And how would you like an explanation of, "Oh, I don't remember." >> And I understand. >> Wouldn't you like to have at least someone say, "You know what? I was drinking." >> Yes. >> She wanted to see my gun. I showed it to her. It accidentally went off. I panicked. I mean >> I mean, >> all we want from you is the truth. And I know that Daniellea's mother would like to know what happened to her precious daughter. I know that I owe it if I did it. >> If I remember, I God, >> if you didn't do it, then who did it? >> You know, I >> who who if it's not you, then who is it? >> I Who else could do it? I, you know, I was there, you know, my gun, you know, and I shoot my I I I cannot tell you what you want me to. >> You were there and you what? >> No, I said I I was I was I was there in the car, you know, >> when the gun went off >> and I >> when when the gun went off, you were there in the car. If listen, okay, if I could give you details, I would. And I know that Daniela's mother needs an explanation because me as a mother would love to have that too and the closure. Okay. But I cannot elaborate. I don't know how to >> What did you talk about in the car on the way? Hey, that god. No, >> please don't say please don't insult my intelligence and tell me you don't remember. You knew you you had your gun. You were in the car. Your purses in the car with you on your lap. Okay. >> Okay. >> You're driving home. What are you talking about with her? >> Don't tell me you don't remember. Just tell me what you >> I'm not I'm not going to insult your intelligence. And you know, I I quietly, you know, you don't want me to say what I'm going to say and you don't believe me, >> but it's the truth. >> What is the truth? >> I don't know what happened. I don't remember. >> How did the gun go off? >> I don't know how the gun go off. >> There's one of two things that happened. Either you fired the gun or somebody else fired the gun because it's your gun. >> Yes. >> So, who fired the gun? >> I >> You could say it. >> I >> Did Daniela kill herself? >> No. >> I don't. >> Of course not. Of course not. >> Did you shoot her intentionally or accidentally? >> I God I for for sure. >> It's not in me to go and kill somebody because of the fun of it. So, >> nobody thinks that you would intentionally do something like this. We've never thought that this was an intentional assassination on your part by any means. But we know when there's alcohol mixed in, maybe you're an inexperienced gun handler and there's a gun in play, accidents can happen. >> Listen. >> And if it's an accident, then I want you to tell us the truth. >> I my truth. You don't want to listen. the evidence. You know, you you you got you know why I would going to purposely insult your intelligence if you know >> I know it's a very difficult thing. >> No, listen to me until he said gun shells this and that. >> Right. You were doing your best to avoid the topic of guns altogether. I never >> hoping that we wouldn't bring that up. I know it's a very difficult thing to face some bad thing that happened like this. I know it's difficult to open your eyes and realize what has happened. Okay, we're not accusing you of intentionally murdering anybody, but you have to tell us how it happened >> because you look at every the whole thing. Who who in the world could possibly have been holding the gun when it went off? >> We know no one else was in the car. >> There's there's no question about who was holding the gun. The only question is what was in that person's heart when the gun went off. What was in your heart when that gun went off? Was there hate in your heart or was it just an accident? >> I I I cannot tell you. >> Because I >> Why I know you don't want to face >> Why don't you want to tell us? That's what I wonder. Because if you know, you already know that the bullet's going to match up with the gun. You know, we know. Everyone knows. >> You told us there was nobody else in your house. >> So, at this point, what what do you have to lose? That's that's what I want to know. nothing that I have to lose. And the fact that I'm telling you, >> God, >> when I said to you the gun's going to match up and then you said, "Okay, well, if the gun matches up, then I'll have to pay the price >> because >> why not give explanation?" Because you and I have won. >> You and I know damn well that that bullet's matching up. Okay. Dave knows. I know. We know that the bullet's matching up. >> You haven't denied it. And you haven't said, "Of course, it's not going to match up. That's impossible." >> I mean, if you were not holding the gun when it went off, you would have said, "No, there's no way in hell that's matching up to my gun." But you didn't. You nodded your head and you went along with it because you know that it's going to match your >> I'm listening. And and I Oh, God. I I I [sighs] >> just let it go. >> I I cannot let go of something that I don't I I I don't remember. And if you know I >> you're gonna feel worse if you don't because in a little while when we get it back and we go downstairs and we say to you, "Well, Ivonne, that's it. The bullet matched up." Then you're going to want to tell us then what really happened. >> Listen, >> just tell us now. >> You don't want me. I I cannot allow. Honest to God, I cannot tell you. You can tell us. >> No, I cannot tell you what happened, how it happened, when it happened. >> I understand why you don't want to tell us because you're going to take that shot that maybe somebody's incompetent at the lab and maybe they won't figure it out, >> but they figure it out every time. >> And how are you going to explain not waking up inside a vehicle when someone is shot to death? >> Listen, >> that your story makes no sense. my story makes no sense because I don't have no recollection of anything. >> Yeah. >> It's not because there's no recollection. It's >> or maybe it's it's it's you said that, you know, I maybe don't want to face it. Maybe it's it was blocking my memory in my mind because I don't remember. I honest to God I don't remember. I was honest to you when I was talking to you, >> right? And then you remembered more >> and I remember a little bit more. And that's when I said, you know, I think I remember but now you told me and then it's like, oh, you're changing this and this and that, the other, >> you know, >> well, as we've talked, things have evolved, right? We do agree that from the time you spoke with patrolman to the time you spoke with Detective Young to the time we got here, things changed several [snorts] times. We we gathered more information as we went along, right? Mhm. [laughter] You gave us more memory and and and and I I understand that you guys are pumping. I'm not saying that you guys are, you know, this and that or the other. What I'm honest to, you know, I trying to tell you is that I do not >> you >> do not know >> you you had a busy morning, >> okay, in a very short amount of time. So, let's go back to that. Okay. [sighs] Our call was received here, 911 call at 5:55 in the morning. One of our patrol officers immediately upon arriving at your house within 7 minutes declared Daniela Tvaris dead. Okay, that's 7 minutes. So, if we were to finish up with this search warrant, right, and bring you back to your house and have you reenact everything that you're saying happened, it would take a long time. It would take a lot longer than seven minutes. Listen, let me finish, please. There's no way you could wake up in a car, see your body, dial 911, walk around to the front of the car, check on that person while you're on the phone, get blood on your shirt, go in your house, open the front door, >> get your purse on the way, >> somehow hold the phone with your shoulder or whatever on speaker, take your shirt off, your white tank top that you were wearing last night that you acknowledge that's your your picture wearing a white tank top last night. Then put on a black tank top. Then do a cycle in the washing machine long enough so to get blood out of your clothing. Okay? Then pull that out of the washing machine, put it on a hanger, hang it to let it dry and and a towel. >> Then [ __ ] >> I got to wipe the Ring doorbell, too. Wipe the Ring doorbell clean off the phone. then go back outside and you just so happen to be on the driveway as the patrolman are responding and pulling up to the house. >> Do we look stupid? >> No. And to the point I don't I don't even remember the sequence of events from the 911. I don't I don't remember even talking. If you ask me what color or how tall was the officer that attended the call that show, >> I cannot tell you. >> Okay, let me try to nail down one little detail with you. Okay, >> the gun is not in the vehicle, right? >> No, the the gun is in in my in in my room. >> Okay. How did you get the gun from the car to your room? No, >> you carried it in. >> Yeah, like I Where did you put the gun? >> In my purse and I put him. >> Is that gun in your vehicle in the garage or is it in your bed? >> No, it's in my bedroom. >> Okay. Did you clean that gun before you put it away? >> No. >> No. You didn't wipe anything off of it? >> No. Everything's it's it's that's when you said it's a gun. I I didn't even think of any of that. I mean, the gun is is That's another thing you had to do. I mean, besides talking on the phone, grabbing your purse, you had a gun to get rid of as well. >> But I didn't get rid of it. See, my gun is >> to carry into the house at least. So, you're that your sevenminut timeline like the detective is trying to explain to you is just impossible. You You don't have seven arms to hold a gun, a cell phone, a purse, open a door, you know? So there has to be more time. [snorts] This has to have happened earlier than what you're telling us it did. >> And if you agree with that? Yes. >> And if it And if it did, >> it's time to stop. >> Listen, >> don't say if it did. Just say when it did, which was when you got home at 2 2:03 in the morning, which is on camera. You're forgetting that we have a camera at that community right there. You're forgetting that. >> I don't I don't forget anything. I know that he has cameras. I I know that they have cameras. I I I You know, you're trying to put me >> Have you ever made a pass at a woman? >> Oh, hell no. >> Never. >> Um no. >> I don't play like that. >> But you were angry at Daniela last night for some reason. >> No, that's what I'm trying to tell you. There's no >> so so >> circumstantial reasons for I something like that would even happen. Okay. And that's why I'm saying I I I don't I I saw the the girl I see two three times maybe before I saw it last night. I don't have any animosity for her. I don't have any hate any any you know it's another person that you know >> it's a person that she didn't mean to kill. >> [snorts] >> Okay, let let let's talk about the guardgate. Okay, I'm not going to I'm not going to lie to you here. Okay, guardgate shack camera shows you and her Danielle arriving in the car at 203. >> Mhm. >> The lights stay on until 2008. That's 5 minutes. Okay. Then that's it. >> The interior lights of the vehicle. right now. When you woke up this morning and you went out to the around the front of the grill over to the side of the car, was the car running? Was Daniela's car running? >> No. >> No. >> I I don't I didn't if I said yes or no. I am I >> Okay. Well, you you are uh out of that car at 208. You're not out of that car at 5:55 this morning when you call 911. At 208, you're out of the car. We're gonna do subpoena for the ring. We're gonna get you ring doorbell. We're gonna get you going in the house at 208210. Okay. Um, we got we got the camera and we got the bullet. Again, we're we're beating our heads against the wall now unnecessarily. It >> we just don't know the why. You know, how if it was malice, >> correct? Or if it was actually >> Just tell us why this happened. It's not a question of >> I'm not telling you. As I told you, I I I don't have animosity. I I I I didn't hate the girl. U you know, >> we don't think that you did. >> We don't think that you did. >> You know, I I there was nothing triggering anything in the situation or or you know that what happened. >> So, how did the gun is? I don't know. I don't know. Oh, >> gums don't go off by themselves. >> I I understand that the guns will know about itself, but I don't know. >> Well, let me ask you this question. Please give me a logical answer. >> Okay. >> There's >> Why did you No, there's going to be a logical answer, I would hope, to this question. It's a very easy one. Why did you lie at first about having your gun with you last night and then tell the truth later that you did? >> Because I was drinking. >> Okay. And >> that was the other reason. I I don't understand what kind of answer is that >> because for [snorts] many many reasons I you know as I told you I like you say alcohol and guns I know never mix in any scenario in any in any event [snorts] and the fact that Yes, I did black out, pass out, you name it. Whatever you want to put in. >> Blackout. So, stop saying that. >> Had an accident. >> I you know I that's why I told you that I did not carry my gun >> because you worried about the ramifications of having had a gun when you were intoxicated. That's what you're worried about? >> That's not believable. >> Well, okay. No, you >> How could I What could I do? charge you with carrying a gun while you're intoxicated the day after. >> We we didn't find you drunk in possession of a gun. So that charge would never come up. >> You understand that? >> The bigger charge is you're trying to avoid the fact that you had a gun and it accidentally went off and killed somebody, isn't it? >> Isn't it? >> I cannot. >> Yes, you can. I cannot >> look inside your soul. >> I cannot I I can see all all you want inside me. I I I cannot give you. >> You're going to have to answer to this. You understand that, right? >> I understand. >> And it's not just to me. Okay. You're going to have to answer to it. There's going to be a lot of people whose lives changed because of this. >> I understand. I understand. >> There are 50 people crying two blocks down from your house standing out there wanting to know why. Let me tell everyone, including her mother, why? Because when the bullet matches up, again, I I can't I can't reiterate that enough times that when the bullet matches up, when the Ring doorbell shows you going in at 208, 210, when all these things come together, which is going to be in a very little short time now, okay? >> When nobody believes that you didn't wake up in a closed vehicle when a gunshot went off, you know, nobody's going to believe that. >> It'll be too late for you to sit down at >> They'll think that you assassinated her intentionally. >> Is that how you want to be remembered? No, because it's not true. >> So then what happened? >> Because it's not true. You want me to tell you that I, you know, that that that that I that I, you know, know that I killed her, that, you know, that I, you know, was an accident or wasn't an accident. I cannot help. >> But we know for a fact that nobody else was in the car. Okay. >> Okay. I was >> It was your I was in the car >> and nobody else. We know. We know. >> You can say it. >> Yeah. Correct. Nobody else was in the car. [clears throat] >> I woke up and nobody else. >> So there is no other explanation. None. >> There was nobody else in the car, Ivonne. Nobody else was in the car. You and her were in the car. She didn't kill herself. There's no burn marks. There's no muzzle imprint. There's no stippling. There's no gun against her head. >> She's not holding a gun. >> There's no gun in the car anymore. The gun's in your house. >> Yes. >> So you put it in your house. It was in my purse, >> right? >> It was in your purse. In my purse, out of your purse at some point >> and I put him out. Yes, I understand. Okay. And until he said that was gun related. I did know. You know when we started talking there was like a 5h hour period of time where you had no idea from a point A to point B. Remember when you said >> that is true >> 5 hours and now after talking and talking and talking that has gone from 5 hours to maybe 5 minutes because now we know everything that happened. >> The fact that you know doesn't mean that I know >> let it finish. We we know everything that happened in except in that little slice of time when your [snorts] finger pulled that trigger. We just need to know if you got angry at her. She made a pass at you. You were angry and shot her on purpose cuz you were with hate in your heart or it was some kind of an accident where she asked you to show her the gun or you took it out and you said, "Hey, I got a new bang." An accident happened. I mean, what what else could it possibly be? You're the only two people in that vehicle. The only killed herself [snorts] and you put the gun in your house. So, it comes down to that little slice of time. Uh, was it an accident or intentional? And only you can answer that. It's got to be one or the other. There's no other explanation. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> You know, and >> so take a deep breath. Look in your soul and give us an adult honest answer. >> Adult honest answer. I I'm being adult honest answer to you and you don't want to listen. You don't want to listen to me. >> We've been listening for you to you for a long time now and you've come a long way as far as remembering things and being more forthcoming with us. I >> mean, the only issue is that that I need a lawyer right now. You're asking a question. We don't give legal advice. We explained your rights. You have an understanding of those rights, right? That's your decision >> because I I cannot give you an answer. I honestly cannot give you an answer. Okay. >> Does your husband know Daniela? >> No. >> If I call your husband and ask him if he knows Daniellea, does is he going to tell me yes? >> No. He's never met her. She's never been to your house. Does your husband go to that gym? >> No, he doesn't. >> Does he know you're in trouble? >> Um, I talked briefly with him this afternoon. >> Tell me about your your relationship with your children. >> You know, they're not they're not around. You know, they're having their lives. they come we're you know the two that was left we're going to pass and see you in the house I guess that I you know I I >> will you good to your children? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I I I I think I guess I hope >> you're a loving mom. >> Yeah. >> Will they say the same? >> Have to ask I guess. >> Have you ever been drunk and angry at the same time? >> No. Are there people out there in the world that might disagree with that? >> I maybe I >> Let me ask you this. When when I speak to you later today or whenever it is we get the bullet back and I tell you that it matches up to your gun. >> Okay. >> What are you going to say to me? the same thing that I'm telling you now >> that you have no idea how >> that I don't have any idea how. Okay. And that's the honest truth. I think that's a selfish way of shielding your own heart from the pain of of facing what actually happened at the expense of Daniela's mother who deserves an answer from you. >> You know, you you can call me selfish. You can call me anything you want, but I honestly cannot give you an answer. I'll tell you if if something like that happened to me where I was drunk, not supposed to be having my gun, I accidentally shoot somebody, that is such a a a thing that would make such an impression on my mind that I would never forget any detail of that incident. So you trying to tell me that because I cannot remember. I will not going to feel the pain. I I don't know what a mother pain is right now and because I don't remember. >> What I'm saying is >> I will I I will, you know, [snorts] had to live with this all my life. >> I don't remember what I had for breakfast two days ago cuz it was not a big deal. But if I accidentally shot someone, I would remember every detail of that incident for the rest of my life and I wouldn't ever be able to say I don't remember. >> You think that I would love to remember? >> I don't know. >> Don't you think that I would love to remember and know what happened? >> I think you're gambling right now. I think you're rolling the dice thinking just >> I'm not rolling anything. Just maybe, honest to goodness, maybe I can get, you know, >> you think that's the only thing that's going to save you. >> I'm not rolling any dice. I'm not doing anything. >> You're going to you're giving it a shot. >> And it's just it's not going to pay off when you could just tell us why. We just want to know why it happened. We know it. We know what happened. We just want to know why because we're going to scratch our heads and so is her mother. Let us tell her mother why. Hey, Mrs. Tvarus, you're not going to believe this, but Ivonne told us this is what happened. Just tell us what happened, please. Please let us give her a good explanation as to what happened. Don't end it like this. >> I listen. I'm not gambling. I'm not turning dices. I'm not trying to get out of anything. >> Why did you wash the shirt then? >> Did your grandmother give you that shirt? Is it sentimental to you that you just had to wash the blood out? Was it so important to you to clean that blood at that moment? it because it was white because it was white. >> Okay. What? How much was that tank top? >> I know. >> $14. Why was it so important for you to wash that tank top? >> I >> Tony, give me an explanation. >> It was instant. >> Give me a logical explanation. >> As I said, it was first because it was white. Second, it was I didn't think of, you know, >> you live >> I didn't I didn't I didn't know. You live in an expensive house with a pool on a canal, right? You're not working. You can't afford to buy another tank top. You had to wash that tank top right then and there. Is that what we're saying? >> It's not about the tank top. I I You're trying to put it and make it. >> I want to know why you washed it. >> Intentionally. I want to know why. >> Tell me why you washed it. >> Because it was stained. >> It was stained. It >> And blood sticks to white. And that's why I did it. Because you had to have that tank top. It couldn't be ruined. >> No, because it it >> cuz you want to wear it again someday. >> Do you want to wear it again someday? >> Well, I I I want you know >> you want because you felt it was evidence that you wanted to give me >> No, it wasn't not even the thing of evidence. I I like I said, I did not you don't believe me. You think that I'm pulling your shame and you believe that that I I you know, >> let's look at it a different way then. Maybe maybe this will help. >> After the gun went off, what's the first thing that you remember after that? I don't First of all, I don't remember the gun went off. I don't remember shooting anybody. I remember waking up on a days. >> Why were you in a days? >> I mean like still, you know, still drunk or or you know, not not thinking straight. >> Okay. >> Okay. And that's the honest truth. You know, I once went to the shooting range and I was with a friend and I had the headphones on and he said something to me and I couldn't hear what he said. So I picked up one ear like this and I slid it up and I said, "What'd you say?" >> And he slapped >> like an idiot. I did that, right? And somebody two feet over two, you know, in the next lane fired his gun and all I heard was humming in my ear the rest of the day. That's how loud it is. Okay. You have experience with firearms. You have a concealed weapons permit. You've got two guns. Your husband's got ARs. You got kids in the military. You know as well as I do. That's [ __ ] There's no way you're going to sit in a car. A gun's going to go off at close range and you're not going to hear it. >> Okay. Come on. >> It's going to make your ears ring a while. >> Okay. You're going to wake up from that. It's going to scare the crap out of you. I don't care how many shots you've had. Do you honestly think that we're going to that anybody is going to believe that? >> Do you? >> Ivonne, >> listen. >> Could you please please please take a take a drink of water, take a deep breath, and ask yourself, okay, this is what I want you to do. I I want to I want to have a moment of silence, and I want you to reflect. Okay, I'll stop talking. I want you to take a drink and I want you to say to yourself, "All right, what do I benefit by continuing with these lies? They're going to have the bullet. They're going to match it up with the gun. They're going to have my prints on the door, right? They're going to have all these things. I got the tank pack. I got the ring. So, what do I what do I benefit?" you know. Um, so ask yourself, if I keep lying to the detectives, how am I going to benefit from this? When the when the ballistics come back and the bullet matches up with the >> So, why do you think I'm lying [snorts] to you? >> I think maybe my my this is speculation on my part, but I think to myself, maybe it was an accident and you don't want to get blamed for her death. That's what I think. I I've interviewed a lot of people. I've been a cop for for over 14 years. I I I I think I'm a pretty good judge of character. When I see a bad person and a good person and a person who made a mistake, I think I'm a pretty good judge of character. But I feel for you. I don't think of you as a bad person. I don't I just I just think that you're lost right now because something bad happened and you just don't know. You just don't know what to do. I I you want me to confess something that I my brain haven't recorded. >> I I just >> and I don't want to insult your intelligence. I don't want to take your time. You know, I I I I have said the truth. >> Put yourself in our shoes >> and I and I will put myself on your shoes. I understand. >> You're You work for the police department. Your job is to find out what happened to this girl, right? Young pretty girl with her whole life ahead of her. And you're sitting there with the one person who was the last person to see her. the person who owns a gun, who took the gun into the house, put it, you said it was in your car, but now it's not in your car, right? To to the bedroom. Right. I told you we had a search warrant. >> I haven't said I haven't lied to you once. That's a difference between me and you in this conversation. >> I'm telling you the truth. And you've been lying to me. And the more we go through that house, the more we're going to find. No matter what you delete on your phone, we we find it. >> I I understand. No matter what >> everything that I said in my >> So we have you on camera, right? 5 minutes in the car from 203 to 208 and then things change. There's there's not this flash of light inside the car and then nothing until 5:55, right? It's from 203 to 208. That's as long as you're in that car. You're not in that car all night. You're not. And >> you're not falling asleep in 5 minutes. >> And with the with the gun being moved, then you lied twice about the gun now. Initially, you said that you didn't take the gun out with you last night, but you >> know your wife. >> Then you said you put the gun in the car. >> No, I didn't say I put him in the car. >> She said she put the gun in the car. >> I have a gun. >> One in the front seat. One in the trunk. >> In the trunk. >> She said there is a 9 mm in the front and >> and a 45 in the trunk. >> But it's not in the front. It's in the house. >> And there's another one in the house. >> And that was the one that I was there. >> When you woke up in that days, was the gun in your hand? >> No. >> Where was it? >> It was in my purse. >> How did they get back in your purse? >> I don't know. >> Was your purse zipped up? Was it a button or a zipper or what? >> It's like a little clutch or something. >> Yeah. >> Was it zipped up? >> Yes. >> Inside the I don't know. I don't put in my in my It was in my purse. I don't remember. It was close. I don't remember. >> Let me ask you this question. >> It was in the holster. >> It's a It's a Glock, right? What What model? >> No, it's a Sig. >> A Sig. What model? >> 365. >> So, how many bullets does it hold in the magazine? >> 12. >> And one in the chamber? >> Yes. >> So, 13 all together, right? When you went in the house, what' you do with the magazine and the and the and the gun? Did you clear it? >> No, I did not. >> Did you top it off? >> No, I didn't. >> Where do you keep your bullets, your ammo boxes? No, no. My my and my my ammo's in in the in the in the in the clip and I have another clip for that. Okay. So, you have those are those are full >> and they're there. >> All right. I'm going I'm going somewhere with this. >> So, you've got a magazine that you normally keep in the gun fully loaded and you've got one in the chamber. Right. Right. Is that I'm not putting words in your mouth. You said that. I'm repeating it. >> Uhhuh. >> Then in addition to that, this is for your sig. You have another magazine. Where do you keep that? >> Next to the gun. >> Generally where though the gun is being >> And well, it depends cuz either >> depending on where the gun is. >> Yeah. Either in the normally I don't carry the extra magazine. The extra magazine is on on the on on the chair. And I chair >> next to my my my my bed. >> You leave it loose on a chair next to your bed. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. >> And there is and then I have the bun which is loaded that I normally either when I'm alone in the house I put in the in the in the drawer in the in the thing. >> What thing? >> In the nightstand. >> Nightstand. Yeah. Okay. >> In the first drawer I put in there. >> All right. So when he looked >> but but the magazine I mean but but but the but but the gun he said you know I did not clean that gun. I did not. >> So you said you put another round from the first the magazine top listen to me. I did not top anything off. I did not do anything. I did not clean the gun. >> So so that's that's when you said that oh it was in you know intention or or So if I call my partner now and I ask him how many bullets are in the magazine, it should be full according to you. >> It should be full. >> So and and you stand by that. So when there's one less than in that gun than there supposed to be. >> Okay. If if if was shot, >> then what? Then what? Then I have you know I have to face the reality that not only that I don't remember but here I have taken a life of a young girl that could be my daughter you know and and a mother without a daughter and >> and no explanation why >> and and and I cannot give you an explanation. So, you're going to face the reality that you it was your gun that killed her, but you're not going to tell us how we can tell people that happened. You're just going to roll with that and you're going to let yourself >> But but what you want me to say? Okay. Do you want me to to to to elaborate a a lie? >> We don't lies. >> No, of course I don't want you to lie to me. Of course, I'm trying to tell you, but but you said, "Okay, how you going to roll?" You know, you confess that you it was it was hate or it was angry or or it was accident or it was I cannot >> I don't know what it was. Only you know what it was. But I got to go out soon and I got to go call my friend who's over there doing this gun part of this thing for me, my partner. And I got to ask him how many bullets are in there. When he tells me 16 instead of 17. >> No, you No, you don't. Never going to have 16 or 17. >> You said they were how many in the magazine? 12 and one. >> 12 and one. No, that's not 16. >> Okay, so 13. Uh-huh. >> This should be 13, right? I'm thinking of my gun. So, there should be 13. So, what happens when there's 12? >> You never thought we would get into your house with a search warrant. TJ, >> I didn't I Listen, I >> That was already provided the answer. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And the stuff I left you when I excuse myself, did you >> No, I didn't address that. Go ahead. Okay. I don't know where I found where I put it. So, if if you're going to make me work, >> you've made me work really hard here. And unfortunately, it's ruined your credibility a little bit, which is what we talked about early on in the in the conversation, having credibility and telling the truth. Um, I'll keep going back to this 7 minute window. It's not possible. It's just not possible. There are so many things that you did. And if I said it once, I'll say it for the third time. If we go back and we try to reenact you dialing 911, staying on the phone with the dispatcher while washing a shirt, hiding a gun, changing your shirt, wiping the Ring doorbell clean, and then coming back out. It is impossible. And again, okay, you're you're insulting us by by going on. >> I don't want to insult anybody. I really don't. And I I have tell you my truth and I don't know how to put it. >> Okay. >> You know, and I don't want you to make to to work harder. I don't want you to to to you know, like you say, ruin my credibility because as soon as I put myself on that that mother, >> put yourself in her shoes. Right. Um, I'm coming to you, Danielle's mother, and I'm going to tell you, uh, Mrs. Daris, first of all, we had to make a death notification to her this morning. My partner had to do it, which is which is horrible in itself. >> Okay, which is a nightmare. Now, the next thing is is we're going to speak to her again and we're gonna hopefully have explanation as to what happened to her daughter because she's she's in the worst place in the world right now, sitting there in her house, hysterical, wanting to know why someone would harm someone so innocent and young with her whole future ahead of her like Dianiela. right now. The only thing >> I understand >> we can do for her now at this point, we we can't do anything to ever she's going to she's going to be sad until she dies. Let's face it. She's going to be sad until she dies. The only thing we can give her is explanation. And if there are 12 rounds, not 13, when the bullet matches up to your gun, >> Jessica Jenkins, Daniel [music] Ch, or one other, >> when that happens, >> we're going to be able to give her that answer. We're going to say, "Well, we got the gun belongs to Ivonne. She was the only one in the car with her. We got her on video. She had blood on her. She washed her shirt. She >> wiped her Ring doorbell clean, >> altered the crime scene. >> She changed. She She called us. Then we sat down with her in the interrogation room. And then she's going to lean forward and she's going to say, "Well, detective, what did she say?" And then I'm going to say to her, "She didn't say anything. All she said was she doesn't remember. And if my gun was the gun that killed Daniela, I'll have to face the consequences." So her mother's going to say to me, "Well, so she's kind of admitting that her she knows her gun is the one that was used to kill my daughter." Yeah. So then why doesn't she tell tell you what happened? How do how do I answer that question? How do I tell her? >> Listen. >> How do I tell her? >> I'm listening. >> You know, you you You want me to admit to something that my brain haven't now why it happened and how it happened I cannot. >> Why can't you? >> You don't like to hear it, do you? >> Why can't because my brain didn't register the fact >> that you're going off. >> I don't remember. >> Well, you >> and and I don't why you listen if if I would remember, I would tell you [snorts] straight up until you told me that was a gun shot. I did not know. >> Okay. I I I just want to I >> I just want you to understand that. >> What do you think should happen to the person the child? >> What do you think? >> I'm asking you. What do you think should happen to the person that shot her? >> Kind of depends on how it happened, I think. Can you answer that? >> I mean, obviously, you know, if it's going to go to jail, >> do you think the person should go to jail? >> I mean, you know, I mean, there's no mo motive there. There is no intention. There's the remorse. Yes. Is there because it's dead because it's a child. Because it's a person. But but what you want me to say? What do you really want me to say? >> The remorse meaning you're saying you have remorse. if I did it, you know, I I got remorse and even before you were talking, I told her I said, you know, I feel, you know, either if I'm guilty or not guilty, I I I feel that sadness, that remorse, that that that um guilt, I guess, that I used to, you know, that I feel guilty, >> you know, because that I was the last person, you know, that was her, you know, she was You know, I I >> Where are we going? Where are we going? >> If you if you if you tell me, okay, well, you have you you said, okay, I pulled a gun and I shot her because you know that that I cannot tell you. If I tell you, okay, you know what, whatever the story, you know, it was an accident. I cannot tell you. >> What do you think should happen to the person that shot her? Do you think that I I I don't know? >> I'm asking you to tell me. You haven't answered that question. >> I told you. >> Tell me. >> Don't. Regardless, you have to go to jail. If it's an accident or if it's it's it's it's >> if somebody killed your kid, what what do you want to happen to them? >> To pay the price. How do you want them to pay the price? >> If I knocked on your door and told you Rachel was dead, how do you what do you want to see happen to that person that killed her? >> Go to justice. >> Okay. >> What's >> because it's because nothing >> What's justice? >> Nothing will change the fact that a li life was taken of a young girl. Even if it was an accident, do you think they should still go to jail? If somebody accidentally shot Rachel, do you think they should still go to jail? >> Should the penalties be the same? >> It should. It shouldn't, but at the end of the day, you going to jail. >> But but what do you think? Do you think the penalty should be the same? Forget about what the justice system thinks. What does Ivonne think? Do you think if somebody shoots somebody by mistake as opposed to shooting them on purpose? Do you think that if somebody shoots somebody by if somebody shot Rachel by mistake, should they go to jail? Somebody shot your daughter and it was an accident and we proved it that it was an accident. Should that person still go to prison? What do you think? I I it was an accident obviously it's not you know should have some some degree of of I guess mercy or lenience. >> Okay. >> But that's not the case. The case is is that regardless of what it is you going to pay the price. So you would feel if someone killed your kid that we should have leniency on them. >> Would you be all right as a mom? >> Me as a mother as a mother. >> Yes. It would be painful yet you know I I have to find myself to forgive. >> So do you believe in a justice system? Do you believe? >> Not really. >> No. Makes you nervous. You're afraid of what might happen. >> And you're afraid you might not get that leniency and that mercy that you think you deserve cuz it was a mistake. You don't really believe in a justice system. You don't have faith in it. So, you were left with no choice but to wash the shirt and wipe the ring. And I get it. I do. I get it. I'm not going to sit here and tell you I don't get it if that's what happened. I feel I feel terrible for you, but it's it won't it won't help you to lie about it. It'll only help you I I shouldn't say it'll only help you. Okay, I'm not going to say it'll help you, but it it won't help you to lie. Okay? It won't it won't get you anywhere when the when the gun comes back matches onto that bullet. >> It makes you look worse, actually. I'm Sergeant Myers. You know, Officer Lordy. Yeah. We're going to give you guys a couple minutes. Um, Detective Conan has some new updates. We're just going to chat for a couple seconds and then you guys can come back. It's fine. >> Are you hungry? >> Want you don't want a granola bar or something? >> No, it's fine. >> Can I go to the bathroom? >> You want to use the bathroom? >> Yes, please. >> Sure. So, we're not going to go over everything that you guys have been talking about. Not really my point. Um I just wanted a little bit of background um about you and your family. Um what is your husband do right now? >> He's a consultant. >> Consultant. What kind of consulting? >> Um strategic and planning. >> Okay. Is that government? Is it corporate? >> It's a oneman show. has a you know he travels in and um he works with different companies. >> So does he >> to improve their go to improve um their processes >> and he works for himself? >> Yes. >> How long has he been doing that? >> 12 years now since he retired. And he retired from the military? >> Yes. >> What branch? >> Army. >> Army. >> And how long you've been married? >> 26 years. >> So you're married while he was in the military? >> Yes. >> You guys travel a lot? >> No. Not not much. He travels. I stay. >> But when he was in the military, did your family have to move from base to base? >> Oh, yes. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. The normal the normal thing, >> right? Gotcha. And you have four children? >> Yes. Going back to your marriage, um, everything good? >> Yeah. >> Happily married? >> Yeah. >> Anything we need to know about the marriage? >> No. >> Nothing. >> No. Like, no. >> I don't know. I don't know. [laughter] >> No. You're asking me like I need to know something. No. >> No. I I I want to know because I want to know um if there's, you know, something going on that uh would help explain, you know, the situation. So, I don't know. So, I'm asking you questions. Um I've been doing this job a really long time. right for about 25 years and sometimes if I don't know the right question to ask um I don't get the you know I don't get the whole picture. >> Does that make sense? >> Yes. >> So sometimes I ask questions they don't seem important but sometimes they are. I don't know. So asking if you're happily married I think is a relevant question. I mean you're out partying with a bunch of people. It could be normal. It could be fine. Or it could be you know what we have an open marriage. We do, you know, we we allow things to happen like that. >> No, nothing like that. I mean, I I honestly I I I was not gonna go last night. And normally I I I keep to myself. I I don't go, you know, I I do my stuff, you know, but um I wasn't going to go. And then um I was like, okay, it's a movie. And you know I wasn't even planning to do any of of you know afterwards or the you know like go drinking or that and the other. I said well you know I I go to go to the movies socialize a little bit and then you know go home. Um yeah I wasn't even you know I think I I was better off staying home >> clearly. Clearly. So, um, when you went out and you go, uh, after the movie, did you like the movie? >> Yes, it was. It was decent. >> Yeah. >> And then after that, you went to World of Beer. >> Yes. >> And you were there for how many hours? >> Um, said that the movie in there is 10, 11, 12. One, three hours. Three three, four hours, I guess. I don't I don't I didn't pay attention. >> Right. Are you having a good time? >> Yeah. >> Who were you hanging out with at the bar? >> With the trainers, the other people that you know from the gym that was there. That was it. Not much. The the guy the guys, the girls, you know, everybody. >> Any flirting? Anything fun? any, you know, grabbing? >> No, no, no, nothing. Nothing of that. >> No, >> just talking garbage, I guess. You know, >> any good stories? Any good gossip? >> No. >> No. No. >> No. Cuz these uh these gyms, you know, uh the people know everything about >> I know, >> right? >> I know. I had them on the corner of my house already, >> right? Everyone was texting, calling you. >> Yeah, I thought that's true. Everybody was cuz it's all gossip, >> right? So, last night all you bar >> when I'm telling you that I wasn't going to go. I mean, it's not that I um you know, I know people, but when you go to the gym, it's you know, you want to work out, you high and you know, >> some gyms. Yeah. But not the gym you're at. [clears throat and cough] they tend to do, you know, parties and stuff like that and gatherings like that. Um, but it's it's it's not like a friendship. It's is at least for me, I only have six months going there and I I go to my class and then I I go home. It's high and by and you know, nothing you know, basically mingle. It's what it is, you know. >> Like it helps you mentally. >> Yeah. It's it's just Yeah, it's what it is. So last night, um, who did you hang out with the most? >> Actually, it was a group. Everybody was talking with everybody. It wasn't like one oneonone. It wasn't, you know, it was just a group, >> right? Cuz I mean, I've been watching the video from World of Beer, so I can kind of see who you're sitting next to almost the whole night. >> Right. >> So, do you remember who you're sitting next to most of the night? Um, for what I remember was Nick or or or Austin. Uh, and then the girls and then um Danella was there too. Mhm. >> Yeah. But, you know, I don't I think that I was more hanging with uh Nick and and it looked to me like you were hanging out a lot with Danielle from watching the video. Clearly, the video doesn't tell everything, but the video does show a lot. You know, they have a couple different angles. >> Mhm. >> So, you're hanging out with her? [clears throat] >> Yeah. I mean, it was Yeah. She was there, too. >> Yeah. And we were lucky and the reason you know I think at the end maybe you see me move with her was because um there was a guy like I said there and and trying to make move on with her and then I I you know I walked in and I you know trying to be like you know mom and stuff and I said you know it's my daughter blah blah he got a little bit mad and I you know was like yeah right whatever you know he got a PC and I was like, "Okay, you know, if you need anything or you, you know, you need help or you want to get rid of you, just let me know. I'm here." She's like, "Oh, yeah, my mom." That was it. Nothing. >> What else did you guys talk about? >> Not much. I I don't I don't remember what we talked about. I mean, we talk about the girls. Uh there was a girl there that she was drunk and then the boyfriend was looking for her and they couldn't find her and we were laughing about that. Um, we're talking about Austin that was drunk. Um, and I was I think that in the video maybe showing that me trying to hold him because he was, you know, I you know, and that was basically the conversation. There wasn't nothing serious, nothing >> um nothing nothing, you know, >> nothing aggravating, nothing nothing. Just >> No, I'm not saying there was. It didn't look >> looked like you guys were getting along great. >> Yes. >> Didn't look like aggravating at all. Looked like very friendly, chummy. >> You know, it looked flirtatious is what it looked like. And I'm not saying it was. I'm just saying it looked >> Yeah. You know, I mean, it looked like you guys were almost a couple. >> Okay. >> You can see how it could look like that from a video, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So were you guys talking at all about other you know boys, girls? Was she does she have a relationship? Is she single? >> I cannot tell you anything about her from her personal life. [snorts] I cannot tell you anything about her. Okay. Like I said, I saw it two or three times maybe at the gym when it was, you know, high and high and last night, you know, then we start talking trash, you know, with the people and stuff like that. And and that's it. I cannot tell you. I didn't even know what her last name was until he he mentioned about it. >> Mhm. >> Uh I I don't know anything about her. I don't know. >> So super casual. >> Yeah. I don't >> You guys have never hung out before? >> No, never. Never. I never been in >> at any of these events like >> I no I I only have been in two events. >> Two >> two [clears throat] >> and the first one was uh for Halloween party and it was at the gym and I I I don't remember seeing her. I don't remember I don't even think that she was there. >> And then last night >> where was the Halloween party? >> I told you. >> Oh, okay. So they did the event there. >> They have alcohol and stuff there. >> Yeah. People bring their own stuff and Yeah. [clears throat] Right. >> So, last night, um, you're hanging out with her, talking trash, and and you guys were having a good time. >> There was no no [clears throat] fights like with anybody, not just you and her. I mean, just like there [cough and clears throat] >> Yeah. >> Didn't look like there was any trouble, any commotion? >> No. >> No. How did you guys decide that she would take you home? >> I was going to Uber back because I Uber in, >> right? And then um and I talked with Austin and I said Austin if you want to because it's you know on the way up here um he lives somewhere in the same area here and I say if you want you know we can share an Uber and we going you know we can if that is if you want and that's that's the last thing I remember and then um yeah, they were talking about that and I don't know if she offer you know a right for the two of us or or somebody else. Uh I guess that she did and and that's it because I was going to move her back. >> Mhm. >> So, >> but you didn't. >> But I didn't. >> Apparently, I didn't. >> Right. So, Austin, how did you get home? I don't know. I don't know because as I told the your friend, I the last thing I remember was when I was at the bar, the the the thing. >> Mhm. >> And that's the last thing I remember. I don't remember um even getting to a car. I don't remember um >> how driving. How did you pay? >> Uh, I paid by the credit card. >> Mhm. [clears throat] >> Right. Do you remember saying goodbye to people? >> No, I don't remember. >> You don't remember hugging all the people? It's on the video. >> I don't remember. I don't remember. That's why I said the last thing I remember is being at the bar. I don't remember saying goodbye. I don't remember getting a car. I don't remember anything at all. Not even getting home. It's just difficult for me to >> I know I've been hearing that for a long time. >> Right. >> I mean, you put a couple perspective. I [clears throat and cough] I I understand I comprehend where you guys coming from, but at the same time, I, you know, I'm being honest. I >> No, no, no, no, no. Don't Don't say don't say you're [clears throat] being honest. >> When I'm saying that >> I I I just don't I don't want you to say you're being honest. >> Okay. >> Right. Because you've been consistently not been honest. >> Okay. >> So, don't say you're being honest. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, the last thing you remember is talking about getting an Uber. >> Yes. When I was at the bar. Mhm. You remember holding hands with Danielle? >> No. >> Really? You don't remember holding hand? Kissing? >> No. >> You don't remember any of that? >> No. >> Making out? >> No. >> You're looking at me like I'm crazy. >> Yeah. >> But if you can't remember what happened, then how do you Why are you looking at me like that would never happen? >> Because I don't remember. And I wouldn't think that would happen. >> Why? >> Why not? You're lonely. She's lonely. Happens all the time. So, explain to me why that's so shocking. >> Well, it's shocking for me because I I don't Well, >> what? >> I don't swim that way. >> Why? >> Well, because I don't. I mean, it's just, you know, everybody, you know, somebody likes canola and somebody likes uh other things. I mean, I that's >> Well, what if she's coming on to you? >> If I if if if I I like I said, I I don't, you know, if if if I in my if if I am in my whole, you know, I I would say, you know, I don't swim that way. I'm sorry. And that's it. >> Well, you mentioned you had a couple drinks. you you know you work out, you're in shape, you're hanging out with her. It's like a date. [clears throat] >> See, but that's that's it wasn't a date. I mean, she went to to the movies. I we don't even even sit together. I didn't see her at the movies. Like >> that's a one night stand. >> What? It wasn't even a one. No, but you're trying to put that like I have a relationship with her or anything. I I don't >> You don't remember? >> Well, I don't remember. >> Right. I mean, you might have, >> but I don't remember. >> I mean, you could have been making out the whole night. >> There's a lot of things that, you know, you can tell me that happened and I would say I don't remember. I don't know. >> Right. But some of it you look at me like I'm crazy and some of it you look at me with a blank stare. So, you remember some stuff. >> No, I don't remember anything. I mean, I don't I don't remember whatever that you're saying. >> You don't remember? >> I don't remember. So, what I want to know is what was the relationship with you and her in the car from the time you left the bar to go to the car? >> Oh my god. I >> Are you holding hands? I mean, there's video of it. >> Well, if you if the video is there, then I was holding hands. I don't remember. >> You don't remember? >> But if it's in the video, it's in the video. I you know, I cannot deny. Well, I haven't watched that video yet. We're trying to get it all. I'm interested to see what that video shows. Or were you guys fighting in the from the bar? >> No, I from what I recall >> before [clears throat] I don't remember. >> It was a, you know, pleasant conversation that we were having with, you know, >> with every with with everybody. I mean, it wasn't only her. He was, you know, the whole, you know, without, you know, everybody, >> right? So, it looked that way. It looked like pleasant conversation. It looked like you guys were getting along great. That's what it looked like. >> Well, that's what for what I remember, Yes, it was. It was, you know. >> So, then you [clears throat] ask her for a ride home. >> I did not ask her for a ride home. I was going to Uber, >> right? >> Okay. And I guess that she offer it because you know I guess and I I thought >> so why did she offer >> I was saying you have to ask for you know >> because she offered it right for for for for Austin and I when we were talking about sharing an Uber to come back. >> Mhm. And that, you know, and she said, "Well, you know, I I can take you guys." >> Mhm. >> And And that's the last thing I remember saying, you know, but I like I said, I >> Is your DNA going to be on her lips? >> I don't know. >> Is it possible? >> I don't think so. >> So when you're in the car, you weren't maybe, you know, making out a little bit. Not that I remember. >> I don't think and I don't think that that's possible. >> Okay. I mean, it's easy for us to tell. We know. >> I understand that you can get DNA and this and that the other. Yes. I I >> But it would make sense to me that maybe the two of you are [clears throat] making out in the car because you're in the car for about five five minutes and then maybe somebody says stop. Maybe says I don't go that direction. I don't play that way. Maybe it escalated. Maybe it got heated. >> You know, I'm just coming up with a scenario here. >> Yeah, I I you know, I >> I wasn't there. >> And I wish I could remember. >> Maybe Maybe you wish. I don't know. >> You know, I sit across the table from a lot of people that say a lot of things. >> I understand. >> And I'm also a human being, right? A dad and a dad, a father, right? So, it's not just that I'm a police officer. So, you telling me things that you think I want to hear or things that you think that she wants to hear or things that you >> Not really. >> Not really. >> No. >> No. >> I mean, it looks very clear to me what happened. Doesn't it look very clear to you what happened? You don't think it's clear? [clears throat] >> It's clear that, you know, she's dead. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's that that's that's clear. And it's clear that she got shot in the head, right? With your gun. Clear. So, tell me, when you sit next to somebody that shoots somebody in the head, what is that? I >> What is it? It's not a trick question. It's murder. >> Well, yeah. >> Yeah. Right. So, two people come home from a bar together and one of them gets shot in the head. Tell me what is that? >> Just What are you saying? M murder. >> Yeah. So, this isn't rocket science. >> I understand. >> You do. You do. You understand? >> Yes, I do. So, you leave with a girl and she takes you home and you [clears throat] stay in the car with her for 5 minutes and she ends up with a bullet in her head. The bullet that came from your gun and then you go inside and spend three hours cleaning up and then you call us and then you lie to us for hours and you think it's okay. I I don't say that it's okay and I don't you know I'm you guys insist that I'm lying. >> No, no, no, no, no, no. It's not insisting. It is what it is. It's It is You lied. So, it isn't insisting anything. It isn't us making up stories. This is all about you. you left a bar with a girl that you were having a great time with. It isn't like this is you had some heated horrible violent relationship with this person. This isn't this isn't something that has been going on and festering and we've been to your house with domestics and vi and arrests. No, this is you meet a girl pretty much for the first time, you know, casually and you you you meet up with them and you and then you go home and you bring her home to your house. That's what happens. And then you spend 5 minutes in the car together and then she ends up with a bullet in her head. So just riddle me that. Explain it to me. That's all. It's not hard. It's not complicated. But that's the facts. >> So, you want me to tell you something that I don't remember? >> That's That's the brilliant your brilliant statement. >> I'm not trying to be brilliant. I'm not trying to to you know to be elaborated. >> You are completely lying to my face. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> If you said so. >> Yeah, I do say so because this is ridiculous. What do you think this is? So tell me what happened. Don't tell me anything other than what happened. Just tell me what happened. Let's just keep it simple. Keep it simple. Were you making out with her? >> I >> What was it? >> I >> What? What was it? >> I don't know. >> No, that's not true. >> Well, that's my truth. >> No, it's not. It's not even your truth. It isn't even your truth. It's what you're choosing to tell us. So, just be >> I'm not choosing for to tell you anything. I'm telling you the truth. >> No, that isn't the truth. because you want to say that I have her that I dragged her home that I my intentions was, you know, outrageous and I, you know, just because A, B, or C. >> You could say you were trying to rob her. You could say I wanted her wallet. I wanted her money. There's a lot of things you could say. I just want the truth. Why are you laughing? >> I'm not laughing because I'm trying to tell you. >> No, no, no, no. You're not trying to tell me. >> If you were trying If you were telling me, you wouldn't be here. We'd be done. >> I'm [clears throat] telling you. And you don't want to listen. >> I No, I can hear you say, "I don't remember." I can hear it. I'm a grown boy. I've been doing this a long time. >> I understand. >> No, you don't understand. If you understood, you wouldn't say, "I can't remember." You would say, "We went back to my house and we got into a fight." >> Hey, we got more information. >> More developments. Yeah. >> Okay. granola bar. >> Sorry. >> Thank you. >> There we go. Well, look at that. There's three people in that little clip. You recognize them? >> Mhm. >> Who are they? >> Me, the guy, and Diane. That's >> okay. >> Yeah, you're getting along pretty good. There's you again. [cough] [clears throat] In fact, the video shows that you and Daniela spend a lot of time together, side by side for hours at the bar, carousing around. And this is you leaving with her. Hug, hug, high five. Right. That's you walking out one. >> Yeah. >> We got a couple things to ask you for clarification. >> You said that your Taurus 3 or your Sig 365 you usually keep somewhere. >> Where is that gun right now? Where did you put it? >> The house. >> Exactly. Where is it? and the share that I always keep it with the with the inside the holster in there. >> Is it going to be under the Yeah, it might be under a pillow. I you know with the clip with the with the band or whatever >> under the chair. >> No, no, no. It's it's Yeah, I may throw something on top of you know cuz normally I keep it there. Yeah. >> A chair next to your bed. Yes. >> And that's the that's the gun that was in Daniela's car. >> Is that right? >> Yes, that's right. >> Okay. >> The Sig. >> Yeah, the Sig. >> And is it missing one round? >> I I as I said >> or did you top it off? >> No, >> you didn't top it off. >> I did not touch that gun. >> So, you normally keep 12 rounds. >> It was I did not touch that gun at all. >> What do you mean? Well, when I got in, >> you brought >> I I Yeah, because you said I I did not clean the gun. I didn't know anything with the gun. The gun I the same way that that I pulled it out of my my my purse is the same way that is sitting with >> the Sig and the Taurus. The Taurus was in the car, right? >> Yes. >> With the same bulletin magazines for each one. >> No. Yeah. No, they're different. >> They're different. >> Yes. >> They're both 9 mm. >> Yes. So, what do you put in the SIG and what do you put in the Taurus? >> What do I >> What kind of ammo you run through? >> Um, the normal ammo. And I um I think that I run one um what do you call that? Um not with the with the full metal. the the other one the the >> point >> one hollow point two regulars it goes like that was all depends you know one hollow one this >> okay so for the sake it's all the same >> yeah I mean it's the same 9 mm bullet I mean I don't I don't >> it's all the it's all the same brand you know Renin what kind of what do you what do you >> I don't remember what I have >> and for the tourist it's all the same >> yeah I mean it's n when I buy it's It's whatever [snorts] >> the Taurus uh is that loaded to full capacity as well. What's the Taurus hold? How many in the magazine? >> Let me think. I I I want to say 10. I want to say 10. I I I don't remember. I really don't. >> So 10 plus one. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And that's how you keep that Taurus in your car. >> Yes. >> Full capacity at all times. >> Okay. It's not at full capacity. >> Taurus. >> But you knew that already. >> No. >> So you topped off the seat with one round from the Taurus. >> I don't No, I don't. Like I said, I did not top anything. at all. >> Okay. So, let's go back to the car. When the shop goes off, where do you go first? >> Listen. >> Do you When you go inside in the house, what's your first act? Make eye contact with me. >> I'm >> You've been good at that this whole time. Make eye contact with me. >> What's your first act after the gun goes off inside the house? Okay, first of all, and you don't want to believe me, I didn't know >> that a gun have gone out. I didn't know anything, okay, about >> we we don't bullets and and I >> we know that's not the case. So So tell me tell me what happened after the gun went off. That's what I want to know. >> Just just just tell me what happened after the gun went off. I like I said I told >> what did you do? [clears throat] What did you do when the gun went off? >> What was your first thought? You know this there's a you know as I've had many conversations with officers over the years who have been involved in in shootings. It's a very stressful situation. Okay. There's certainly a certain level of PTSD. It's almost like an outer body experience. Okay. You just cannot believe what just happened. Right? And this happens to even very experienced police officers who have trained their entire adult life to be prepared for this type of thing. So it's a normal kind of thing, right? >> Listen. >> So what do you do? What is your first thought? Your first act. >> Listen, you want me to confess something? >> I want you to tell me what you did after the shot. >> Like I said, I do not didn't know. that a gun was shot. >> Well, we can assume that when Daniela is laying on the driveway that that's after the shot, >> right? >> I >> We can assume that. >> So, tell us what you did after that. >> I I I told you. [sighs] >> I told you. >> All right. So, you wrote the Sig with you, right? >> Mhm. >> In your purse to World of Beer. >> Mhm. >> And you rode in the passenger seat with that same purse with that sink. >> Mhm. >> And after the shot, in addition to the other other things that you did, you put the gun in your room, right? Just tell walk me through that process. Just just walk me through that process. You've already admitted to that part of it. So, walk me through it. >> I you know I my time on my timeline. It's you know it's completely off of you know the evidence that that you you know have. I what I remember like I said but now you said that it wasn't >> wait in the in in the you know that I in the car and I I went around and I look and I call but that's what I recall but I don't know at what time and what moment I got out with my purse and walked in and put him where I normally put him. Put him out of the thing and put him >> So, walk me through it. Just tell me how you [clears throat and cough] >> I'm not asking you about the timeline right now. I just want you to walk me through it >> cuz we know things weren't normal >> this morning. Nothing was normal. You didn't follow your normal routine when you went into the house >> because it wasn't a normal situation. I walked in, got the gun was in my purse, the punter was in a holster. I walked through the door, I think, and I went to the room and I pulled it out of my purse. I put him there. What? What? I know, you know, on the chair and and and that's >> You put the gun on the chair. >> Yeah. Never never thought >> in the holster. >> It it when I pull it out of the the the the purse, it was in the holster. >> Okay. >> So, it never crossed my mind. >> Is it still in the holster? >> Yes. >> Okay. It >> should be in the holster. >> Did you take a shower before you called 911? >> No, I haven't taken a shower today. Okay. So, you went in. You went straight to your bedroom first. That's first place you went. >> Yeah. >> And I think >> you you opened up your purse. >> Pull the gun. >> Pull the gun out. >> See if if if my my my my wallet was there. >> What What were you doing? Why were you looking for your wallet? Because normally when I don't recall, you know, if if if I get I don't recall anything, the first thing I I I I look is for my for my wallet, my my purse first in my in my wallet to see if it's there or I lost it or or what. >> Taking inventory kind of a thing. >> Not inventory. I >> make sure you had it. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. Just checking in. >> If I have my my you know, my driver's license, if I have my credit cards there, you know, the money is still there. >> So then what >> what' you do next? I >> was that your first act when you walked in the house was to put the gun? >> No. >> In the bedroom? >> God. Hi. I like No, it was actually I opened the the the purse to see the the it was my money there and then the gun was there and I pulled my my thing and I put the other thing where you know put my my purse, check it out, put the gun, put them away. Two things. You you went into your >> my wallet and the gun. >> You pulled your wallet out of the purse, too? >> Yeah. >> Where'd you put that? >> Now it's sitting on the counter >> in the kitchen. >> Yeah. >> How How did it get there? Patrolman asked you for your ID. >> Yeah, something like that. >> And then you went over and got over and got it. >> Okay. So, you walked in, you went to the master bedroom, took out your wallet, you took out your gun. Then what? I I I don't even know what the the the time exactly happened. >> The next thing that you did, what was your next activity? >> Took my shoes off. Went to pee. Took my shoes off. The shoes that you were wearing, where are they? >> In the bathroom. In >> the master bathroom. Yeah. >> Okay. Did you wash them off in the tub? >> No. They're they're [sighs] everything is >> they're sandals, right? >> Yeah. >> So, you don't know if you tracked any blood in to the house? >> No. >> Made footprints. Blood blood footprints on the floor. Sandals? >> No. >> No. >> Okay. So, >> I didn't notice. I don't I I don't I didn't see it today. I don't Nothing. >> What' you do after that? You put the gun away. Put the wallet away. You put the purse where you left it in the bedroom. >> Yes. Yes. I think it's in the in the >> the bed. >> On the bed. >> I think it's in the >> Then you went into the master bathroom. You used the >> Which is Yeah, cuz I want to pee at >> You took your sandals off. You used the restroom. >> Then what? But all this was >> all this was >> I [snorts] I want to say after calling 911 I want to say >> everything you're telling me you're you're telling me transpired after you died 911. Is that what you're telling me? Everything I assume cuz everything is scrambled. >> So then what' you do next? took out the gun, took out the wallet, put the purse on the bed, went to the bathroom, urinated, took your sandals off. Then what? >> What' you do after that? >> Think that I um I didn't even drink water. I didn't do anything. You know, he said that I I took my shirt, put a new one in, and then wash. I mean, >> so the the sink is in your bedroom. >> Yes. >> That's where it'll be. >> Yeah. The full capacity. 13 rooms. >> How how you find how you will find it? It's how I assume it was. >> When I asked you about the Taurus, you said yes. It was like a definitive yes. It'll be to full capacity. But with the Sig, you're saying how you find it. >> No, no, no, no, no. What I'm saying is >> you're wishy-washy on the SIG. So, I'm assuming it was the Sig that was used >> or >> You could say it. No, >> it was the Sig. >> I'm not >> You could say it. >> No, no, >> it was the Sig. admit it. It was the sick. So, at least we know, you know, we're looking at the sick, right? There's three guns. You know, we're looking at the sick, right? >> I mean, you just look at the towers, too. You told me that wasn't a full capacity either. >> Well, I think maybe, you know, you took a round out of the Taurus and threw it to the sick cuz you used the sick. You're pretty thorough. >> So, I'm pretty thorough. >> You were? Well, you tried to be >> You could say it. >> It's all right. Just say it. >> You want to say it. I could tell in your body language that you want this to be over. >> I want to be over, but I don't want to but I don't want to be over on the on the expense of me saying something that I don't recall. >> Okay. So, I talked about, you know, being able to read people early on. >> Mhm. >> I I can read that it's the city. >> Okay. Do you agree? >> Yeah. We're still going to send the dive team into the canal by either [clears throat] way. >> For what? >> You never know. >> Oh, okay. >> You've haven't been truthful about some things. Maybe you're not truthful about the gun on the chair in your bedroom being the gun that was in Daniela's car. No, I I that I that I'm sure but at the same time you you you know I I I I you want to say this this and the other and I I I not going to say something that you know. >> All right. So, after the first part of our interview, the second time around here, um, Detective Young showed you some photographs of you and Daniela walking arm in arm and smiling, going to the bathroom together, leaving together, all that stuff. Okay. So, it looked like you had fun that night, right? the two of you. It It seems like there was a little more conversation between the two of you and a little bit more of a relationship, even if it was a short-term thing just that night than you let on early on in our interview. The first time we were in the room here, the first time it was kind of like, well, we talked about the guy and we made fun of this girl and so on, but you just kind of made it seem like it was a group where everybody was talking together and Daniela was just like a part of it at times. But now we know from video and the guys are still pounding the street out there. We know now from video that it's a little bit more than that. Your night with her was there was a lot more interaction between the two of you. Okay. The clearly you can see you can see that right? >> See it right? Oops. >> It's going to keep turning sideways. over here. Here you are having a good old time. Okay, you get the point. How much do you want to watch? >> Yeah, >> you get the point. You You get that as time goes on, we're gathering more and more you got it >> information. So, that being said, I think that your your relationship with Danielle, I think you downplayed it. It's a little more than what what it was. I think that you're closer with each other than you let on, which also brings me to my next point. You knew who that this morning. You said, you know, she was covered in blood. Her hair was covering her face. I didn't know who it was, but you knew who it was. If you go out with somebody and you're out with somebody like that all night, you know what they're wearing. you're in their car, you know. So, that was a lie that we caught you in that you made me work for. We talked about you making me work at the house. >> Listen, you you you not working only for you. >> I'm working for Daniela. I'm not working for me. I'm working for Daniel. >> You're not only working for for you or for Daniela, you're working for me, too. And I'm I'm going to tell you why. Okay? because you think that I done great everything and I you know my mastermind you know this that you know that I have an affair with her or something like that. >> I have said well you said that you know the more that you know this and that and that and and the other detected said that you know >> we are in a relation. >> Is it relevant? It's irrelevant. And the reason is is because when I said when you show me those these videos, okay, you showing me what I do not remember. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, let's talk about what you >> showing me all these. I'm not a mastermind. I'm not, you know, making you work hard. I, [clears throat] you know, I What can I say? >> Okay. So, let's talk about what you do. Remember, after the gun went off, >> listen, I >> cuz we know you heard the shot. >> You know that I heard the shot. >> I could still feel pain in my ear when I think back to that day at Outdoor World. That's where I was when that gunshot went off and I had that headphone up and I said, "Oh [ __ ] that hurts." And I was wide awake, wide awake for a long time after that shot went off. a little tiny Nissan like that >> with the windows up, >> you know, >> or even Yeah, >> that's loud. Ivon, >> it's going to make your ears ring. >> That's loud. Okay, so what happened after the shot? What what what were you thinking at that point? >> I [snorts] for you to think you have to know Now I you know you you you forcing me to to Yes, you did. Yes. What you use and I'm telling you I don't remember you know and and and I I don't even know you know. I'm listening to you. >> I don't know how to communicate about this. You know, I I know that there's somebody dead. you know that you said that that you know I'm guilty because either I talk or I whatever I you know I have to leave that in my in my brain in my my conscience you know but I cannot you know tell you anything that I don't recollect. Okay. And you know, >> you're recollecting more as we go, right? >> And you you know, I and I ask you, you know, I you know, I'm getting to the point that I um you know, I >> Let Let me uh step out here for a second. Just hold that. [clears throat] You know, I I didn't ask for a lawyer for a reason. Okay? Because I didn't know until today. I I I I cannot recollect. >> We don't want you to try to invent something that you don't remember. But from now, >> you don't feel like any of us are trying to put words in your mouth, do you? It feels that way to be honest with you. And and I I you know and I'm I'm thinking I'm sitting here and thinking to myself, okay, you know what? >> I'm going to ask for a lawyer because I don't I don't you know, this is not my realm. This is not my my rodeo. This is not I don't know law. I don't know any of that. So, I I would appreciate to have a lawyer with me. Not because I I I'm accusing myself of being guilty or anything. I just I think that getting to that because I I I >> Okay, we won't ask you any more questions. That'll be the end of it for now. >> You know, I I you know, I when you first walked in, I I was, you know, honestly wanted to cooperate with you cuz I it wasn't framed in my head. >> Yep. Yep. All right. We still have to dive the canal, but All right, we're done. Jess is coming. She'll take you down to a cell. Okay, I have to whistle. >> One second. She's coming. She'll Now, I was telling him that I wanted a lawyer that how I kitten, you can call in from the jail. And how what is the procedure? >> You're going to get processed. You're going to get sent down to jail. >> Okay, >> that's the process. Okay. >> We have seen a lawyer. >> Nope. You see a lawyer in jail? >> They said just sit here with her. We don't need to talk, but we'll just hang out with her for a minute. I guess they don't want her down the cell yet. I don't know. >> Okay. >> So, I'm not >> You need to respond or you want to handle >> Sorry, we're done. We're done. The interview's over. Yeah. >> He said he's going to jail. >> So, they're just the detectives are talking about, >> I guess, charges and what how they're going to write up their reports and everything. But >> that's why the interview is over. It's because you want you want to speak with a lawyer, which is your right. >> If I if I wouldn't ask a lawyer, [clears throat] >> I'm sorry. Say, >> if I wouldn't ask for a lawyer, I still was going to go to jail. >> I don't know either way. That the that's up to the detector procedure when [cough and clears throat] someone does ask for a lawyer is that we are not allowed to interview anymore. We're not allowed to talk to you anymore. So that's why they left and we're not going to ask you any more questions about anything. I cannot confess there's something that I I don't recolct. I don't know how to communicate that So, the process, >> um, we're going to go down to where we have our holding cells. We're going to inventory the your property that you have, your water bottle, the clothes you're wearing, the jewelry. We'll probably have you take all your jewelry off. We'll mark it all down on a sheet. You'll check and make sure it's all correct before you sign and say that this is your property that you came in with. Um, they're going to do some paperwork and I don't know how long that will take, however long it takes them to do their paperwork and then we'll take the paperwork with you down to the Brown Sheriff's Office in downtown Fort Lauderdale. >> Okay. >> And then, um, we hand you over to the sheriff's department. They process all your paperwork, your intake stuff, and then that's where it goes where you go for a judge. You'll be able to get a lawyer, make phone calls, do whatever you want um to do that way. And then, you know, you'll go in front of the judge at some point to see if there's going to be bond or what. I I don't know that part of the process exactly. I can't tell you. >> Okay. >> So, when you get down there, you could ask the deputies and they'd be able to explain further that part of the process, but we just deal with here holding you while the paperwork gets done and bringing you and your property and the arrest paperwork down to the to the deputies down at the Broward Sheriff's Office. >> Okay. >> And they'll arrange for you. >> So, are we going to be in jail until I see the judge or and how long that thing supposedly takes. >> Again, I I'm not super familiar with that part of the process because they >> Yeah, cuz I'm not I don't work at the the the sheriff's office for the jail. I'm not a corrections officer, so I don't know that process very well. I can just tell you we drop you off there. They process your paperwork. when you get there, you can ask them those types of questions and I'm sure they can give you a time frame or better a better understanding of it because I don't want to lie to you and tell you because I really don't know. I don't know how long it will take you to see a judge or get bond or speak to a lawyer. I I don't know. But the deputies [clears throat] down there could probably answer those questions a lot better once you get there, which I don't know how long it'll take you to get there either. I don't want to It could be It could be a few hours or longer still, >> okay? because their paperwork could take a while because obviously, as you know, this has been going on since this morning and it's a very in-depth case with a lot of details and stuff that they're going to have to write the report on. So, I don't know how long it's going to take them, but at some point you'll end up down down there with the paperwork and then ask the deputies. Um, the question is as far as how long till I see a judge or what, I don't know that process. So, how would you with the I guess I'll keep the to change clothes or any of that >> while you're here? No. When you get down to the main jail, they're going to make you change into the standard uniform that all of the the prisoners down there wear. And who's in my house right now? >> Um, we still have officers there because they're still executing the search warrant on your house. So, there's still officers and the same crime crime scene ladies that were there earlier that took your picture and things like that. They're still there as well photographing and helping collect whatever evidence they may be collecting. >> And um at the end whenever they release the house. I don't know how long that will be. It might be a while still up to days. But when the house is released after they're done with the search warrants and and everything, we'll make sure it's secure. We're not going to leave your house open and unlocked if that's what you're concerned about. >> [clears throat] >> One is that and two the fact that the dogs needs to eat >> the dogs. >> Yeah. And the baby is in the house. >> Okay. >> Your daughter might I mean she has dogs, so I'm assuming she has food for her dogs, >> but not but they have different foods. >> Yeah. Unfortunately, it might just be one of those emergency situations where she's going to have to feed them >> a different type of food. You know, >> I have a feeling your dog is not going to let your dog starve you. >> No, she'll make I understand all that. What I'm saying is that, you know, she's going to be able to go and get the the the >> not until the house is released, and I don't know how long that could be. >> So, she'll just have to make do, and I'm sure she'll feed them whatever she not, but I just figured out how I I I can't, you know, let her know. >> Yeah. When you get down to main jail, that's when you get phone calls. It might be a while, but she's not going to be allowed in. >> And how was my phone? your phone, I think, is being taken for evidence. So, they're because they're going to be getting a subpoena to search your phone. >> Okay. >> So, eventually you'll get it back at I don't know when cuz it's going to be evidence right now until they they execute the search on your phone. Get the search warrant they need and do that. So, that could be a while as well. Okay. I'm going to need >> say that that phone takes for for for a while. >> The what? I'm sorry. >> The the phone. >> Yeah, we don't we don't We're just a holding facility, so we don't get phone calls here. >> No, no, no, no. I'm talking about my phone. >> Oh, for your cell phone. I mean, I'm sure it's a it's a username and password is what you're using to log into. >> I need to know what I need to know what the username and and I don't and I need to pay the bills, >> right? >> I mean, you'll probably have to figure it out where someone might just have to email him or something and contact them and get the username and password again because I don't you're I'm not going to be able to get into that phone for quite a while. >> But can I can I can I have it for a second and or or somebody can look at the >> I don't think so. I will ask a detective >> because because that it's you know I don't want the kid to to >> right. I'm sure >> and he can get in trouble because of that and then we're going to be two in jail instead of one. >> I understand what you're saying. I would be willing to ask a detective but I have a 99.9% feeling they're going to say no, you can't get that phone. And I'm sure there's other ways that you can contact your son and get the username and password again. [snorts] You don't stay in my house last night. 409. I5. >> [snorts] >> Bravo 347. Yes. heavy. >> I'm sorry. >> It's a belt. >> Yeah, it's definitely uncomfortable. >> No, it was nice being off on vacation for a couple weeks and not having to wear everything. Felt like my back wasn't hurting as much, my hips weren't hurting as much. And then he's right back in it. >> I mean, it's probably like 16 to 20 pounds. It depends. >> The vest. >> Well, between Yeah, between the vest and the belt and everything and gear, it's just not It's not made for comfort. I'm sure your son knows. He has a He's carrying way heavier packs and stuff than we are, too. As a ranger, he's carrying 100 pound packs at least. >> At least. >> Yeah. >> It's a lot. It beats up your body. I feel bad for him. He's going to he's going to be feeling it at a young age probably. >> And your husband, too, probably. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Well, you said you had appointment at the the VA >> doctor. Yeah. I'm sure it's hard. It's hard on your body. Takes definitely takes a toll on your body. >> Oh, yeah. That's true. >> They do. They I mean, our military people, they do they sacrifice their lives literally. and body and everything mind for our country. Yes. So I appreciate that and I appreciate your family for doing that and giving up giving up a lot of their lives for that. >> It's not easy. >> No, it's not. And I know it's probably like you were telling me earlier, it's not easy being a military wife and mother. >> I know it's probably been very difficult a lot of your life. >> It's not easy. nothing much like I said. >> Mhm. I know you tell me earlier a lot of people don't understand her now all the sacrifice that goes into it probably. >> Mhm. It's true. But um now this I hear the same thing the same calc. Mhm. here. It's all six. Six. Yeah. So, it's no rush. No big deal. What time were you supposed to come in? >> You were supposed to come in late. [snorts] >> Did you come in super early? Huh? >> Mhm. >> Thank you. >> Come in. >> I got I was sleeping and then I like saw the thing and I was like, >> "Oh, was your phone going crazy?" >> Yeah. >> You sent so many pages. >> It did. And it's like the text message and the phone call. So like it woke me up. >> It happened like four times really. >> So finally like at 3ish I'm like, "Oh, I'm not doing anything." I'm like, I'm just going early. >> Yeah. >> So, you can either take me overtime, I guess, or maybe they'll let you go home early. I guess depends. I don't know. They might keep you. >> We'll see. >> Yeah, cuz some people, you know, this time of year, everyone's on vacation. >> Everyone's >> Except for some mental health days sometimes. >> Where did you go on vacation? >> I went to Peru. >> Oh, nice. You went to Machu Picchu? >> I did twice. I did it twice. I hiked it from both directions. So, >> okay. the >> I hiked the Sungate hike. >> Um when you come, have you ever been there? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, you know, you go in the park like you get to the ruins. I went to the left first and did uh Sungate hike and then the second time we went we went like almost a week later. I went we went through and hiked uh the highend Pichu Peak. >> That's awesome. >> Yeah. Then we did um Did you do any other anything else while you were there? Oh, we're going to the sand thing >> to the Oh, to the um not the sand, the um salt. The salt? >> No. >> Oh, a lot of people were talking about the salt mines. >> The salt. >> I didn't go to >> We didn't do it either. >> I went to like where you like go like kind of like on a board thing and you throw yourself on the sand. Um >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. >> Oh, that sounds cool. >> It's cool. We went to that then just to watch beach and you know those little towns. >> Yeah. >> So good. Yeah. >> So beautiful. >> We did Did you do Rainbow Mountain? We did Rainbow Mountain. >> No, I we didn't. We were far from there. >> It was far. >> Yeah, >> everything was far. Oh, so did you stay near Manu Picchu and >> Well, we went to >> Kalante Aos Caliente. >> A Calientes. Yeah. So, we were far from there, but we were kind of like backpacking. So, we like we started and >> Did you do the Inca trail? >> No, no, no. >> Oh, I was going to say girl. >> No, >> no, no. We were backpacking through like three, [clears throat] but then when we went to I was supposed to [cough] stay two nights, I think. >> Okay. So then you just went right up and you while you were in there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> This is the money you were talking about being inside the phone case. It was $80, right? Is that what it is? >> I think >> Well, we found 80. >> There you go. Your $20. >> Are we good? Um, >> you want to book her or >> um >> still hang out here? just hang out for another second. >> Um I um I I was going to ask you if it's possible for >> Police initially arrested Ivon Serrano on allegations of seconddegree murder and evidence tampering.
