All right, here we go. Okay, this is going to be a sworn recorded investigative interview in reference to Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office case number 24 074804, which is a grand retail theft case. Today's date is Monday, August 5th, 2024, and current time is approximately 0956 hours, and we are being conducted at the Old Navy store located at 9 innings 9887 Glades Road, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33414. I'm Detective Michael Walsh 87916 from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Sheriff's Office. Also present is >> Deputy Sheriff Alba, ID number 38634 with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. >> Okay, it should be noted that Deputy Alba is not familiar with this investigation and is does not know if any suspects are actually located in the uh photo array that she's going to present to the witness. Okay, present with me is our witness identified as Raise your right hand for me. Do you swear or affirm that the statement you're about to give and the uh photo array presentation you're about to view, you'll you'll be truthful to the best of your knowledge. >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you acknowledge that any person who knowingly provides false information or a false statement under oath is guilty of a crime? >> Yes. >> Okay. Thank Thank you very much. All right. >> [clears throat] >> So, this uh interview is in reference to the grand theft of items from the Old Navy store that occurred on 24th of June, 2024. So, Miss William, where are you currently employed? >> Yes, at this >> You're currently employed at this Old Navy store, and what is your position, please? >> I'm the general manager. >> Okay. And what Were you on duty on the 24th of June at approximately 1:20 in the afternoon? Okay. Can you say in your own words what occurred then, you know, go with the females that uh uh came in >> Two females came in. Um one initially came with a little girl and they grabbed a cart and the other one came in not long after. Um they went into kids and they concealed items in kids and they walked out with a cart and a mesh bag. Um the reason why we were able to or what had caught our attention is because the little girl was previously identified a theft that occurred there so before at night in which it was two adults and about four kids. >> At this store? >> At this store. Okay. That walked out with about four mesh bags full of merchandise. The kids walked out with the merchandise and the adults were with them. Um so that little girl caught my attention because I was able to tell that it was her. >> Same girl? >> That was the same little girl based off of the um the video that the manager sent me the night that it happened. >> Okay. Uh take Fair to say you got a pretty good look at both females who Okay. Did you have face-to-face interaction? Did you walk over? >> No. >> Okay. >> I saw them enter the store >> Right. >> um because I was by the cash wrap. >> You were on the floor? >> Yeah, I was on the floor. >> Okay. >> I saw them enter the store and I saw them push straight to the uniforms so you know >> Right. All right. Um So what was the value of the items they stole that day roughly? >> Roughly? Um it was about 1,200 I would say. It was over a thousand dollars. >> It was reported as 1,300 change. Would that be about accurate? >> Yes. >> Okay. And when they came in, did they they came in slightly separately? >> They came in separately. >> Right. But they met met up together at the >> in the kids department. >> In the kids department. Okay. When they left, did they leave >> in the same vehicle. >> Okay. Did Did they leave at approximately the same time? >> Yes. >> Okay. And when they left, they left with mesh bags full of >> A mesh bag and a >> In the >> full were out items. they didn't make any attempt to pay for anything. >> They walked through the front of the store, bypassing point of sale. >> Okay. And they went right to a vehicle? Okay. And the car that was described is a gray Hyundai vehicle? Okay. And >> And the reason why we were able to get the plate is because somebody was coming in to do a work order. And when he was coming in, they were leaving out. And he turned He comes in and he said, "Did they just steal?" And we said, "Yes." And he told them that he can't pass the >> threshold. >> Right. So, he went outside. He stopped them to get the license plate of the vehicle. So, he took the license He as they were driving past, he pulled out his phone and he took a picture of the license plate. So, that's how we were able to get the picture. >> Can you describe the the two adult suspects? >> So, one girl, she had on a white shirt. Um shorts and just long lashes. And I know that her lashes came off also in the in the video when they when he pulled it up. And then the other girl, she had on a dark color shirt. Don't know, but she did have a queen writing of broad queen numbers. Like the jersey type shirt. >> Uh-huh. >> Um and she had a cap. >> Okay. Okay. And were both of them Were both the same same race? >> Yes, they were both African-American. And the little girl, she had on like a shirt a a shirt with denim. >> Okay. And >> sandals. >> Wha- What What What do you estimate the age of the little girl was? >> The little girl looks >> 10 maybe? 12? >> 10 12. >> Okay. All right. Um So, uh once you you uh observed them come in, you were immediately suspicious because of the You had seen the girl the little girl in there before. >> Yeah, the little girl. >> Were either adult were in in with the other group? >> Yes, so the girl with the white shirt, she was also with the group before, like that stolen a day or so before at night, right before we closed. >> Okay. Okay. So, um we possibly have a uh potential suspect. One of the two. So, we would ask you to to let Deputy Alba read you the instructions for the array and see if you can identify the person that you saw that day. One of the two. We're not going to mention which one or anything. We're just going to see from your recollection you were you can identify anybody. So, I'm going to step out and let Deputy Alba show you the photo array. >> Okay. So, as the administrator, I'm going to go ahead and read aloud some instructions before showing you the photo array. I'm going to ask you to go ahead and initial next to each instruction and then print your name at the bottom prior to opening the folder. Okay, this is going to be in reference to case number 24074804. So, number one, you're going to be asked to view a group of photos of individuals. The person of interest may or may not be in this photo array and the photos are not in any particular order. You should not feel that you have to make an identification. Take as much time as you need to look at each photograph. Individuals presented in these photographs may not appear exactly as they did on the date of the incident because features such as hair and facial hair are subject to change. It is just as important to exclude innocent persons from suspicion as it is to identify the perpetrator. The investigation will continue whether or not an identification is made. After viewing all photographs, if you can make an identification, please initial and date the photograph of the person you've identified and close the folder. Any other questions for me? >> All right, this is going to be a sworn recorded investigative interview in reference to PBSO case number 24 074804 which is a grand retail theft case that occurred at the Old Navy store uh located at located at 9887 Glades Road in unincorporated Boca Raton, Florida 33434. And this is in reference to a theft that occurred on the 24th of June 2024 approximately 1:26 in the afternoon. Uh I'm currently at the Palm Beach County Jail with a uh African African-American female identified as Can you state your full name, please? >> Chansyn Yvette Hill. >> Okay. And spell your last name as Hill. >> H I L L. >> And what is your date of birth, please? >> 5/16/1996. >> Okay. >> [clears throat] >> 5/16/1996, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, today's date is uh Thursday uh August 29th, 2024 and the current time uh right now is approximately 1 41 hours or 13:41 hours. Again, we're here at the Palm Beach County Jail with a uh adult female who is uh who was placed under arrest. Uh Uh, Ms. Hill is again identified as a black female and she's wearing a black top and black pants. Okay, so Ms. Hill, before I talk to you, um, I have to ask you just a just a couple or read you your rights. You've been arrested before, you said, is that correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, before I speak to you, I have to inform you you have you have the following constitutional rights. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> Okay. And any statement can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you understand those rights that I've read to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, the reason you're here is we established probable cause for your arrest based on an incident that happened down in, uh, West Boca Raton on the 24th of June, 2024, where someone identified as you entered into Old Navy along with another person and and took about $1,300 or $1,200 and change, uh, dollars worth of clothing. Any idea about what that's about? >> No. I've never even been in Boca before. >> Never been in Boca before. Okay. So, I'm just going to show you this for the record. Is that a picture of you right there, in the middle, circled, right there? Does that appear to be a pic- That does not That's your booking photo. And does that appear to be a picture of you, really? >> It doesn't look like me. >> Okay. Well, looks exactly like you to me, except for the glasses. Um, so, you were, from what I understand, you were arrested on, um, Mar- excuse me, July 15th. That's what this booking photo is from. >> Oh. >> Okay. So, you were arrested on July 15th.
