hey
well first of all once again good
morning good morning sir
welcome to today's run and today's class
what we've done since august 2005
every cadet class has graduated from the
alberta police department
been brought to this corner for today's
lesson
and if you notice it's not just me by
myself
it's your academy staff and cadre which
i told you on
the beginning of your academy classes
the best in the nation
but it's also the rest of the executive
leadership
of the albuquerque police department if
they all feel just as i do
that today's lesson is very very
important but this is also about
welcoming you all
into our family the family of the
albuquerque police department
and about the sacrifices that sometimes
we have to make for each other
some of those sacrifices that happen
here on august 18
2005.
the first thing john high did he shot
mike in the head
at the bottom of those stairs and mike
fell
immediately just laying right there at
the bottom of the stairs on the sidewalk
we believe that probably john hyde
played possum
i would pretend like he was dead and
what happened next is where
again when those acts of heroism really
occurs
richard knew that he needed to get his
apartment
he needed to get the mic so he left his
position
cover concealment he was going to where
mike was
he was going to mike was helped his
partner where he was re-engaged
by john hyde the gun battle started
again
richard this time was out in the middle
of street no place to hide
a during place course of that gun battle
richard obtained another one just a
fatal one
