Have you ever been in trouble before?
No. Never. Either left or right, and
you're going to touch the tip of your
nose with the tip of your finger. Okay.
Okay. Left. A seemingly harmless remark
turned the small shop into a battlefield
between two strange women.
[Applause]
All right, Carly, you going to do the
test? Stay calm. Okay. All right.
There you go. You know, don't don't
cross your fingers. Right. Breaking the
law and being surprised when caught. An
old story that never gets boring. The
law is not clear. The brain is not used.
But the consequences are clear in every
frame. Please look at the following
situations and evaluate. Have you ever
been in trouble before? No. Never.
I'm not I'm not This is what's going to
happen.
Oh, okay. All right,
there you go. You know, don't don't
don't cross your fingers. Right. And
February 4, 2024, police were called to
a store after a fight broke out between
two women. The victim was confused
because she did not understand why she
was beaten.
Say that again. I was doing fine until
what happened? What happened? Well, I
walked in here and the first thing I
looked at was the Hello Kitty stuff. Are
you looking at something and help you
look for something? And they said, "Oh,
I just walked in here and just started
looking if that's okay." And then she
walked away and then immediately came
back and said, "Oh, I was just asking.
You don't have to be such a about it."
And I walk as I was walking away, I
said, "Oh, I was just trying to match
your attitude." And as I'm walking away,
she's like, "Oh, I was just trying to
tell you that." Oh, cuz your lipstick's
all messed up. And I said, "Oh, okay.
Thanks." So, it's your face. I was
completely walking away and she comes up
behind me and licks out my hair and my
head. And then I fall to the ground. And
as I'm on the ground, she's like yelling
like, "Not even saying this to me." And
then she like hits me right in my face
unprovoked. It wasn't even my back was
turned. It was just like strange words.
And then she just attacked me and it's
just not okay.
When I see it, uh, she's my daughter.
She's crying. She's crying. She's in the
back. I didn't see what happened, but
she told me that there's all those
cameras. Where did it happen? Right in
front of it. Right there. Right in front
of the right here. In between the
registers and where the Hello Kitty
stuff is. She just came up in behind me
and yanked my We should have cam. Yes.
Out of the ground. Yeah. I didn't know
what happened on the ground. She still
continued to beat me down. How How long
does this happen? Oh gosh. I don't know.
Maybe it was like 20 30 minutes ago now.
I'm not sure. When the police arrived at
the scene, all was quiet, but the camera
did not lie. Was it an honorable slap or
an inexcusable act of violence? Jacket.
Jean jacket. Not jean jacket, but a
sweater. Okay.
That's her. That's her. That's her
straightening up the Hello Kitty. That's
her. Okay. What color? What? She's right
here. What? No. What color? I'm trying
to think what color clothes she have on.
She black. She No, not the daughter. The
um the daughter the other lady. I don't
want to say this, but she got up here. I
know, but we still have to see. We still
I mean, you have the video of it, so we
can at least over here. And then we're
watching the video right now.
Okay. How old are you? 19. 19.
Okay, let's have you step outside here
and we're going to have to talk.
Huh? The young girl refused to stand
still when she heard the prejudice
statement. But what was the price for
that outburst? She could only cry and
regret her actions.
And she basically said like, "Chinese
people never give me a chance to do any
like work or shop around." And I'm not
even Chinese. So I took that as racism.
And I really don't tolerate that at all
with my family cuz I know like it really
affected my mom back then. So when she
was racist to me, I just like started it
just escalated from there. like after
she was being racist to me cuz after she
said the Chinese thing like I thought
she was being racist cuz that's how I
took it. She said, "Chinese people never
give other people a chance to shop
around." And then she I said, "Excuse
me." And then she said like, "Yeah, I
said it." And then I was like I was in
shock for a little bit and then I after
a little bit I thought I thought about
what she said. You don't have to be
about it. Like just because I asked if
you needed help or anything, you don't
have to say anything about it. Like you
don't have to be racist towards me about
it. And then she said, "Oh, I wasn't
being racist. It's just true." Well,
you're going to be placed up on the
right, so you got to turn around. What's
up?
Emma, how old are you?
All right. Have you ever been in trouble
before? No. Never. Calm down. Yes, sir.
Well, I'm not We're not I'm not This is
what's going to happen. Okay. All
right. You want to go take a ride? Okay.
It's just a battery. All right. Your
parents can come and get you out today.
You just calm down. All right. Sorry.
All right. We're going to walk over to
my car. So, we're not going to do it
right here in front of everybody. I need
to be compliant and I need to be calm
about it and be a big girl about it.
Okay. All right. We're going to be we're
going to be be humble about it and
everything.
Okay. Do you have anything on you? Do
you have anything going on? Anything on
Do you have anything sharp on you?
Anything that you want you to keep with
your mom? Anything like that? You want
to keep jewelry with your mom or
anything like that? Keep this one.
Take your necklace. You want your
necklace with your mom? Yes. Okay.
All right. All right, we're going to
give you a
chance of seat
traffic. I'm so nervous. You're just
nervous right now. Sorry. I know. I said
it's not a felony. From tears in the
police car to belated regrets to a
moment of unnecessary anger and a stain
on a criminal record. Oh, shoot. I'm
sorry. I forgot I put the numbers out of
your phone.
Is your phone off? How do you All right.
You You hold it.
I'm going to turn it off because to save
the battery.
Okay. So, when you get out, it'll be
charged. So, you can call your parents.
Okay. Once we get in the
car and get it on, she'll be in the
system and we'll have her scoot off a
little bit. I'm
grabbing Orange County. Yeah. Orange
County Corrections. Um, yeah. Booking.
Yes.
She was arrested for assault. She
stressed that this was not a serious
crime, but that due process was required
to be followed in order to be dealt with
according to the law. Next, a car veers
off the road, hits a fire hydrant, and
comes to rest in the middle of a
Starbucks parking lot. But it's the
person inside that has police stumped.
She was not injured. She did not lose
her memory. But her dull eyes and
contradictory answers left the entire
patrol team with big questions. Can I
come check you out? Let me shut the
door. Walk over here real
quick. What
happened? You don't know what happened?
Did we hit our head? Did we lose
consciousness at any point? Where were
you coming from? I said you hit the
hydro right there. So where you where
were you going? I was going to the
Windgate. To the Windgate? Okay. What
city? The Windgate, but I ended up over
here in one route. Okay. To the
Windgate. I was Yeah. And I was trying
to look at my um cuz my phone's dead, so
I was trying to wasn't like working all
the way. Okay. Where do you Where are
you from? Do you live in Round Rock?
Austin. In Austin. Okay. Okay. Lethargic
and everything like that. You said you
didn't hit your head. You didn't lose
consciousness. Okay. Do you have any
medical conditions? Any
diabetes? Anything that would cause you
to seem kind of out of it? Is this your
normal behavior? Are you Do you normally
have slow speech? Seem kind of confused.
Is this normal for
you? No. Okay. What What's causing you
to respond this way? It's cold. Say it
again. It's cold. It's cold. Okay. Wake.
Cold. Tired. Something else. Simple
tests revealed an undeniable truth. Can
you place your feet together like that?
Look at my feet. Be able to touch them
together. And you'll have to put your
hands down by your side. Okay. I know
it's chilly, but quicker we do these,
the quicker we'll get you warm. Okay.
You put your hands by your side. It's
perfect. All right. You're going to
stand just like that until I tell you to
do anything else. You understand? So,
stay just like that. What this is going
to consist of is the light. I'm going to
try not to blind you with it, but I just
need you to be able to look forward
towards me. Okay. Can you see the tip of
this pen? Okay. If you could, with
whichever hand you prefer, can you touch
it with your finger, please? There you
go. All right. And put your hands back
down by your side. I need you to look at
the tip of the pen that you touched. And
I'm gonna move this pin. I need you to
follow it with your eyes and your eyes
only. Okay? I need you to keep your head
straight while you're doing that. Okay?
Do you understand?
Let me know when you're ready. You got
to put your hands back down for me.
Okay? And we'll tell you when to stop.
So, whenever you're ready, you can go
ahead with that test.
Okay? All
right, Carla, you're going to do the
test. Tip of your finger, touch tip of
your nose. Put your hand immediately
back down. While you're doing that, I
need you to make sure your head's back
and your eyes are closed. Okay. All
right. So, go ahead and get in the
starting position for me with your feet
together, your hands out like this.
There you go. And tilt your head back
for me. Make sure your head's tilted
back a little bit further. There you go.
All right. I want to
say either left or right, and you're
going to touch the tip of your nose with
the tip of your finger. Okay? Okay.
Left. So, I said left. So, I need you to
take your left hand, touch the tip of
your nose with the tip of your
finger. There you go. Keep your eyes
closed and your head back. Put your hand
immediately back down. There you go.
Keep your head back, your eyes
closed. Right. When words don't match
eyes and bodies start nodding
uncontrollably, police are forced to do
what no one wants. Marijuana. I'm trying
to think of it. Trying to think of what
it is. Okay. You're trying to remember.
Do you know Do you remember what you
smoked? Do we snort
anything? Do we take any
[Music]
pills? Do we inject
anything? No. Okay. Are we smoking?
Okay. All right, Miss Carly, you're
going to be under arrest for driving
while intoxicated.
Okay. And walk back this way, Miss
Carly.
All right, Carly. I have to search your
person. Is there anything that's going
to poke me on you? Okay. Do you have
anything stuffed inside your bra?
Anything inside of your person? Okay.
It's like doing except 15s on a
T-Rex.
Left. Yeah.
Right. Walk over
here. All right. Big
step. You got it. I got you. Lift your
foot. There you go.
What's wrong? What do we hear? I can't
hear you. I'm sorry. Let me take this
watch
off. There's a place for your hands
behind you.
[Applause]
Okay. If you keep them
lower, there's a spot for your hands.
Um,
a rental car, a small Ziploc bag, and a
strange sauce. All led to a less than
gentle end for the 31-year-old woman.
Airbags deployed, so we got to get her
medically cleared. Here's here's my
recommendation. Uh, this is from here,
43, but you got to get her cleared
anyways. Yeah. Uh, what kind of what's
her report like? She she's sad. I don't
not uh violent. Not think you'll get a
consent for blood draw. I I could ask
her. Um it it takes her a good 30
minutes to answer a question. Okay. So,
what I would do if I were you, uh cuz
that's a crash, you got to get medical
clear anyway. It's Friday night. Unless
she has 16 TWWI, uh I would say run to
the hospital or with DS24, only ask for
blood and that way to the hospital
anyways, have them draw blood there or
once they clear her, but it's probably
they're probably going to be there for a
little while. If you want, take a friend
uh with you up to the uh hospital and if
she refuses uh the blood uh have them
sit on her and um Yeah, you type. So,
you good with that? Yeah. Do you think
any stuff is necessary for that? I mean,
I So, when I asked her again about
narcotics, I said started with marijuana
and she was like, I'm trying to
remember. I'm not getting any. I'm
curious. Like honestly, I'm curious. She
she is like legitimately I would say on
the nod cuz she's like so because she
did this because she's acting like that
rather than having her in that room for
another 2 hours. Okay. I'd rather get
her checked out. We got to go to the
hospital. See if she can get the blood.
It's like you have more than enough. I I
I'm I'm confident with everything I have
of course arrest. But I just didn't know
at that. Also, any other drug you should
admit to? She No, she wouldn't admit to
anything. But she when I did say, "Are
you are you injecting anything?" She
said, "So, she haven't checked off yet?"
I haven't gotten her injected on
Douggee. Anything in there? That's a
scale. And so there's a a pouch of bunch
of little ziplockc baggies.
Okay. And she may have been at the wing
gate and just did something and took
off. I don't know. I need the 24. Ask
for blood. See consent. Makes it easy.
If not, then go right to the blood
search warrant. Okay, you good with
that? Yeah, I'm good. Thank you.
In Texas, the penalty for a firsttime
DWI offense, a class B misdemeanor, is a
fine of up to $2,000, 0 cents, jail time
of 3 to 180 days, and a license
suspension of up to one year. Barley was
arrested for driving under the
influence. She will be taken to the
hospital for a mandatory medical
evaluation before any further legal
action can be taken. If her blood test
is positive for drugs, Carly will face
serious penalties under Texas law, which
can include large fines, license
suspension, jail time, and criminal
recidivism if she has a prior
conviction. Driving under the influence
is not only a violation, it is a foolish
gamble with your life and the lives of
others. Hey everyone, what do you think
