Yes or no? >> Mr. You're already displaying signs of intoxication. All right. You are involved in a motor vehicle crash. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Uh the the if you pass the test, then you pass the test and you go home. If you fail the test, then you're coming with us. All right. It's not like you were arrested for like simple assault or harassment or touristic threats or something of that standards, right? So, this isn't something criminal. It's a traffic related offense. >> You said you >> I did not. The other officer So, this is all Perkeley Township. So, there was another officer that's up here. He went and spoke with your grandfather. >> Is there like any way I can contact >> contact me? >> Yeah, you would just go through the police department. >> Yeah, but at the same time, I'm not out here to get you, right? Do I have a job that I have to do? Correct. I do. >> I'm not out here to be a jerk. Have I been a jerk to you at all tonight? I was going to say I didn't think so, but >> you probably weren't. >> What's that? >> I don't think I was. >> No, listen. I treat everyone the way I would want to be treated. Right. You were nice to me. I was nice to you. At the end of the day, like I said, I do have a job to do. I did do what I have to do, right? But I'm always going to treat you with fairness and respect. The destination is on your left. >> Arrived >> 60 B 109 copy >> 99942. >> Do you want to go and speak with someone? >> Are you sure? >> Just sucks. Girl, >> I know you're going through a lot. Okay. [Music] Once again, are you having any thoughts about wanting to harm yourself or anyone else? >> What's that? >> No. >> Okay. You don't want to harm yourself? >> Okay. Just watch your step. Okay. >> Listen, made a mistake. You're okay. No one's hurt. That's the important thing. Okay. Do they? >> Yeah, there's my parents house. >> Are they? >> I got it. >> Come on in. >> Thank you. Sure. >> Her alco test results indicated a back level of 0.101% which was above the legal limit of 0.08%. After the officers completed their paperwork, she was eventually transported back to her grandfather's residence. She was released to her grandfather pending her court appearance. He signed the potential shared lady warning form on Alexis's behalf. >> Alexis. >> Yeah. >> This is your bag. Okay. >> Thank you. I appreciate it. >> I just have to go over a piece of paper with you. Go ahead. Come on in. All right. I'm sorry to wake you. I know it's it's early in the morning. Okay. >> Do you close? >> All right. So, Alexis, do you mind if I tell Grandpa? >> Of course. >> All right. So, she was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Okay. Um during the course of the investigation, she did show signs of impairment. Um evaluations were conducted there. She was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Okay. So, she was issued several summones for that. Um, a part of this, this is a potential liability form. What this is stating is that you were assuming responsibility for her. Okay. >> I call officer said that 12 hours or something >> approximately. Yes. So, I'll read it for you. Yep. >> Yeah. So, you have been summoned by or on behalf of the person whose name appears above, Alexis Garza, as defendant to transport or accompany the defendant from this law enforcement agency. The defendant has been arrested and charged with one or both of the motor vehicle violations checked in the box above sitting to NJSA 394 50.22. So pretty much what this means is once you're signing this, you're assuming responsibility for her, she cannot drive >> at all >> for until the BAC, which is her blood alcohol content, eliminates. So she's >> Yeah, >> approximately 12 hours. >> Yeah, 12 hours. >> Do you just have your license, sir? >> Oh, yes. Um, >> just a question. >> Mhm. >> Um, does the judge usually help with like, you know, rides to work and stuff or >> the judge will help with you. He'll work with you, right? Odds are like I don't know how it's going to go. Okay. So, most likely if it's your first DUI, you don't have anything in Arizona cuz they're going to check other states as well, right? They're going to work with you. I'm probably going to end up with an interlock in your car. You know what an interlock is? >> Yeah, that's the thing. You got to breathe in whatever. >> That's okay. But that's also thousands of dollars. Like, >> are you hurt? >> She blood on your blood. >> Yeah. Grab I'm going to be honest with you. Like, I'm pretty banged up. >> So, she was checked out by first aid. >> She did all her like multiple times. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Um, >> it was >> nothing broken or nothing, >> Grandpa. Grandpa, I I swear I like I looked down for a second. >> It's okay. >> No, I'm so like I'm so ashamed and I'm embarrassed. >> I looked up for a second and then next thing you know I'm I'm in the bushes. Like I was actually like I felt it like I hurt. You hit somebody else or you just >> She crap. I looked down when they fall. >> Wait, he's talking. >> So, she didn't hit anyone. I'm going to be completely honest with you, she is extremely lucky to be alive. So, she was approximately 150 ft into the woods. >> Whoa. >> Thankfully, someone was there to witness this because, as I told her before, I don't know if someone would have found her till the morning or if I would have found her driving by. She was off the road by Double Trouble State Park. >> It happened so fast, too. Pop >> car. >> Yeah. All righty, sir. I just need you to sign here. Once again, that is just acknowledging the potential liability. >> Pop. It's okay cuz I like four on the card. >> Thank you. Do you have any questions for me, sir? >> Nah. >> Okay. >> Wait, are there like any like what do I need to do? Like this is new to me. >> So, here's the thing. Going forward, right? Like I said, you were issued four summones. There's a court date on there. I would contact our court clerk like, "Hey, I was issued summones. You don't have to get into it. They're they're going to understand. They're going to know. We don't have to get into it, right? Trying to obtain a lawyer. Okay? Ask if they can move the court date for you or if you're going to go to that court date. Whatever you do, just do not miss that court date. >> Right. >> Okay. Right. Because this is this is one thing, right? This is all traffic, but if you miss court dates, then it becomes a criminal thing, and that's you don't want that. Okay. >> No, >> you made a mistake. It is what it is. >> Alexis was issued the following traffic tickets. Operating under the influence, 39450. Reckless driving 39496. Careless driving 39 for97. Traffic on marked lanes 39 to 488B. Use of handheld wireless telephones 39 to497.3. >> You're okay. Everyone makes mistakes. That's the important thing. All right. Do you have any more questions for me? No. All right. Listen, I wish you the best. Okay? I'll work with you any which way I can. All righty. >> It'll work out. Just a bad incident, that's all. Like I said, it's traffic. It's not criminal. >> I know, but it's silly. >> I get it. >> Look what I did. >> Yeah, you didn't hit somebody else. >> Yes. >> All right, Alexis. I wish you the best. Okay. >> Drink and drive. That [ __ ] is so long. >> All right, sir. Thank you. >> Sorry, I was walking you out. >> No, it's okay. You're good. >> What was your name again? >> Pat Davis. >> Thank you, Pat. >> Yep. No problem. Have a good night, guys. >> Good night. >> Hey. Wish you the best. Okay. Thank you, sir. Have a good night. Court records indicate that Alexis has previously been arrested for criminal trespass to C 183B and Seaside Heights, New Jersey on August 28th, 2022.
