here um went over basically was like put the car in Reverse whatever um she got out of the car tried to walk to the back and she was just like she wasn't like uh she wasn't like very like uh what's on November 26 2022 around 7:45 p.m. patrolman Joseph orada with the IAM Township Police Department was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a 2020 to Honda in the area of Wentworth Circle in Crown Royal Parkway when he arrived on scene he observed that the Honda was stuck on the media and that it had struck multiple small trees as well as the sign to the development he made contact with the driver who was identified as Marie Mendes Marie told Sergeant Patrick Hughes that a truck was following her closely and playing loud music and that is what led her to crash her vehicle into the sign Sergeant Hughes was also advised that they were to unopen bottles of wine on the passenger floorboard of the vehicle take crash matter uh you you comforable FS briest I've never done before you comforable f all you're going to take crash they'll take uh field soety test and then we'll figure out the next portion of it if she obviously does do she miss she had a glass of wine I don't know if it's an odor from her I think it is okay she had nothing then she had one glass we're obviously going to take into account that she just was in a crash and she's in these crazy slippers um but we'll uh you don't have I don't have hn we'll do the two test on she passes then we're all together I I'll watch you you guys you guys can walk her over and start with one of the cars hi hi what's your first name Lena Lena yep okay are you still talking um you want to pull your thank you uh right over here you can uh you can pull it into the park all right do you want to do you uh just some in the store trying to get back home you're trying to get back home literally less than a [ __ ] mile less than a half mile what happened did you just I had someone just h on my gate and I'm was trying to turn Okay as muray was being evaluated by First Responders patrolman isai her Rose arrived on scene to assist around 8:00 p.m. during their evaluation Marie admitted to drinking a glass of wine based on the odor of alcohol and the other indicators of impairment the officers began their DWI investigation Patrol men Rose escorted Marie to a parking lot nearby to administer field sobriety exercises do you have anything to drink tonight or I had a glass of wine before I left that's all I have from left over Thanksgiving then I went back after to the store but we're going to go right over here we're going to get a test right over here czy you you can just Loop it around and just pull up right there behind that car I'll just do it right here we're just going to do it right over here that parking spot so you're out of the way all right you live uh right here at six number six yeah your husband's in there right yeah my my husband and my son is in there your son's in there yep uh no it's like in the middle okay so he can't see if you do test right here right no all right this your car oh whose car where's your husband's car at it's oh God no no no no it's not it really isn't I'm just going to leave your phone on water here for real walk down there bro no it's not it's not that far all I'm just waiting for this officer to get his camera on and we'll bring test all right fine we're just going to do two tests that's fine 264 off you turn your camera off you all right we're just going to do the test right here in front of his car okay okay the trowman row started with exercise was the walk and turn test during the walk and turn test Marie did not touch Heel To Toe on each step failed to keep her arms at her sides and turned them poly the final exercise was the one leg stand test and Marie failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion while displaying a of balance I'm going to run you through two tests all right two exercises um and I let you know what it is all right so for the first test I'm going to put you in the starting position so starting position you're going to put your hands down by your side heels together all right you're going to St in that position and I'm going to demonstrate the test for you and and when I tell you you can go you can go okay got it you understand y okay all right so for first test it's going to be a walk and turn all right so you're going to start with hands feet together all right you're going to take a series steps forward you're going to start off uh right foot in front of your left heel uh right heel in front of your left foot turn and then walk forward I I'll I'm going to demonstrate the test for you and if you have any other questions at the end all right you okay so you're going to start one two 3 4 five you're going to keep going all the way up till you get to nine steps when you get to nine steps okay you're going to turn you're going to come back you're going to do the same thing back one 2 3 4 5 but you're going to go to nine okay okay y do you understand the test yeah do you have any questions no okay do you have anything that's going to hurt you from doing this test do you have any uh medical problems or any issues okay all right you can begin whenever you're ready so should I walk up there or start from here uh you can just you can walk straight as as straight in the line as you can okay okay one two eight nine I've never been good at that okay all right that's all all right so for the next test is going to be the stand on one leg okay M I'm going to demonstrate the same thing you're going to keep your hands down By Your Side Y heels together you're going to stay that position until I tell you to do so okay okay so for this test you're going to choose either leg of your choice all right you're going to keep your hands down by your side mhm all right hands down by your side you're going to lift that one leg uh uh four to six inch off the ground vertical to the ground okay keep your foot vertical to the ground you're going to count out one Mississippi 2 Mississippi 3 Mississippi four Mississippi and so on until I tell you to stop okay okay all right so you can do you well before you start the test do you understand the test yes sorry i'ms okay all right you can begin whenever you're ready not very good at this hold on can I try my other leg Yeah either foot are your choosing maybe my R leg is better [Music] all right let me ask you this you told me you had one glass of wine you had a little more than that right probably so okay all right here's what's going to happen Okay you failed the tests okay so you're going get placed under arrest for driveing while toxicated okay um we're going to bring you back to the station we'll process you can I tell your husband to come pick you up that's fine based on the motor vehicle accident the odor of alcohol the witness account regarding the bottle of wine and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises Marie was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated patrolman orada transported her to the IAM Township Police Department for further processing her vehicle was towed for a mandatory 12-hour impound as required by John's law just put Trans on your back for me all right what number is it bring your hand know that anyone who's been under an accident is like not okay just wait right here for me all right just got to finish up your C uh yeah that's fine you're here already all right we're just going to walk to this officer's car right here uh what's your uh numerical for your apartment you guys know that somebody ran me off the road right rear is clear you okay with me notifying family are you okay with him notifying him now just so we I mean it's going to be we're going to go to the department finish our processing he'll come pick you up bur now I'm not really okay with it I I somebody R me off the road yeah all right um I have no station with you um I need we got for toe and two yeah he's he's having another uh unit respond out here okay um 164 164 did he call for duty to yet or no I don't know um 105 he just notifying her husband right now you should be good to head back again I'm just what's up to him I don't know if he wants me go we just we just stand by be r um crash okay and do field sobriety test uh the initial you're going to take the crash take the DUI and then he'll do a sub and I'll do a sub okay where I talk to just so you have everything under one number for you I just got to grab all the stuff I need information wise for the crash I'll grab it I'll grab it grab all you need is a tag she's the RO to sign we'll make notification to ollow but we'll do everything administrative on the side just get in and start getting her processed all right copy that at the eam Township Police Department betran orada read her the standard statement for motor vehicle operators and she agreed to submit breath samples the tra chain belyy operated the ALCO test machine her results indicated a back level of 0 point to 5% which was more than triple the legal limit of 0.08% after she was processed Marie was released to a sober adult pending her court appearance he signed the potential Sherl warning form on her behalf patroman Anderson issued her the following summonses operating Under the Influence reckless driving and traffic on Mark Lane Central 22209 I'll be transporting one adult female in custody from the accident location to 220 starting mileage is 102 520 the road I just off the by somebody wait I'm want pick this that's [Music] sh [Music] do you uh do you have the key for your car huh what in the car 200 209 she's uh saying it's in the [Music] car so um your vehicle is going to end up getting towed so they'll they'll uh I'll let them know to make contact with him but it I mean because the vehicle is on fire it's not going to be drivable okay well I'm just letting you know they're going to more than likely tow the vehicle okay okay [Music] okay okay I'll uh a call and see what they say but more than likely it's going to get towed just due to the extent of the damage that's on the vehicle okay two from 209 can you give me a call on phone1 [Music] got wait [Music] 29 give me call [Music] yeah what's up okay uh so she's H wondering that uh her car is getting towed right okay all right so she wants uh just want to give you a call just to confirm that cuz she's she saying that her husband can come and pick it up and drive it to come pick her up so I just want to confirm that it's getting it's getting tow okay all right copy that thank you okay she's saying that they in the vehicle all right all righty I'll see you yeah what's up uh I just talked to Whitman she uh she just wanted to see if the cars getting tow towed I told her it was um but she she wants to know if she's able she wanted to get her husband to come pick the car up okay all right perfect okay yep sounds good all right all right so the officer that's out there that's taking care of the paperwork for your vehicle he's going to come in once he clears up out there and give you all the details as far as uh your vehicle but because right now you're being arrested for the suspicion of DUI driving Under the Influence your vehicle is going to get towed and it's not going to be able to get picked up for 24 hours I understand that ma'am all the time okay would do you know who it is know [Music] Central 22209 I'll be arriving out at 220 court records indicate that on August 9th 2022 Marie had previously been arrested for DW eam Township New Jersey on March 16th 2023 Marie was found guilty of careless driving from her first DWI arrest and her license was revoked for 90 days the other three citations were dismissed as part of the plea agreement on the same date Marie was also found guilty of the other DWI from November 26 20 22 while the other citations for traffic on Mark lanes and reckless driving were dismissed as part of the plea agreement in total she had to pay $1,130 in fines the following month Marena Kerney Mendes passed away on April 24th 2023 any is 102 525 2 hours mying another part of the road okay
