Uh, 83 and a 55 back there. 83 and a 55 back there. Around 1:45 a.m. on October 9th, 2023, officer Michael Rodriguez with the Plains Bro Township Police Department was parked in front of the NGSP barracks on Route 1. He observed a 2014 Chevrolet sedan driving 82 MPH in a 55 MPH zone while headed southbound on Route 1. He initiated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop and the driver eventually came to a stop on Route One. I got you. Okay, I'll take it. Thank you. Do you mind rolling this down all the way? Can you roll this window down all the way? Thank you. I just don't want to get trapped in there. Uh, Miss Anastasia. Uh, where? Yes. Where are you coming from tonight? He made contact with the driver of the Chevy who was identified as Anastasia Shelikovska. As he was speaking with Anastasia, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Anastasia told him that she was headed home after leaving her friend's house in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Sergeant Timothy McMahon arrived on scene to assist shortly afterwards and detected the odor of alcohol from the driver's side. Anastasia told him that she was headed home after leaving her friend's house in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Anastasia was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. I'm sorry I I couldn't hear you with the cars going back in at a friend's house. Yeah. Gotcha. Okay. And where are you headed to tonight? Huh? Where are you going to? To home. Okay. I live in Pennsylvania. Levittown, Pennsylvania. Exactly. Gotcha. Okay. Um, I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah, I think just going a little bit too fast. Right. When you were Oh, sorry. Yeah, I know. I'm sorry for that. When When you were at your friend's house, um, where was that? Uh, it was in Bloomfield. Bloomfield. Yeah. Okay. Uh, did you guys get pizza there? Actually, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, cool. Um, anything to drink tonight? Okay. Like any alcoholic beverages, beer, wine? Okay. Um, did you consume any marijuana tonight? No, I didn't do Okay, very good. I have to ask just with the speed. Want to make sure that you're not driving impaired. I'm sorry. Yeah, I it's my fault. It's just, you know, I have to go to work tomorrow and tomorrow morning and it's my fault. I just want to go to that. Gotcha. Rushing home. I get it. You're rushing home. I get it. Russian. No, I mean like you want to you want to get Russian? Oh my god. Russian. Yeah. Not Russian like the country. I mean like you you want to get home. No. No. Yeah. Russian. Gotcha. Gotcha. Okay. Oh, so we drink coffee some like midnight with Yeah. No, no alcohol at all. No, not cuz you you can't say I don't think so. You were like absolutely no weed, but maybe I could. I don't think so. I don't know. And I can smell it. So, I'm just asking you how much. Not much. Not much. Okay. I know it's my fault and it's okay. It's No, listen. The reason that we're asking is because we want to make sure that you're not an impaired driver. Okay? So, since you admittedly drinking some alcohol, we're just going to do some quick test with you to make sure that you're not drunk. Okay? All right. Come on over to the back. Take a step back here. Can you not close because it can be not opened? Okay. After that, the windows open. Okay. But one time we'll leave it like just like that. Is that okay? Just Yeah. Yeah, that that light is bright. Actually, come up here. 3 4 6 36 59. Sorry, there is a uh Nope. You got to face me. Okay, so you just have to two questions. any contacts or anything. During the walk and turn test, Anastasia failed to touch heel to toe on each step, turned improperly, and failed to keep her arms at her sides. The final exercise was the one leg stand test. During the one leg stand test, Anastasia failed to raise her foot in the prior fashion and displayed a lack of balance. Was that contacts? I do have contacts. Contacts. Okay. Any other anything else I should know about your eyes? Any head injuries? Any eye injuries? I have just contacts. Yeah, just contacts. Nothing else I should know about that would affect you performing a test using your eyes? No. Okay. So, do you see the tip of this pen? This right here. I want you to follow this with just your eyes without moving your head. Do you understand? Yes. Okay. Put your hands down by your side. Keep your feet together just like you are right now. Okay. I want you to look up right here and follow this with your eyes. Do not move your head. Okay. Okay. Heat. You're doing good. [Music] Okay. How much did you have to drink tonight? For real. What? You You got to tell me how much. Well, I'm asking you. And it would really help with the test if you told me cuz I could really smell it now. And we have two more tests to do. Okay. I'm sorry. Yeah. So it was just like sangria. Sangria. Okay. Yeah. And do you remember how many cups? No, it was not many cups. Many It was just one cup. It's just maybe It was more than one cup. No, it was not much. I can tell you that right now based on uh how much I could smell on you. Okay, let's just let's just move to the back over here. We're going to do two more tests. Okay. Okay. Two more tests. So, why don't you just stand right here? So, I'm going to do my left. Basically, these next two tests that we're going to do, I'm going to demonstrate. Start it right here, Mike. You want to go right there? Yeah. All right. We're going to demonstrate them. And I want you to demonstrate to the starting position. The starting position is going to be with your right foot in front of your left, just like this. You know what? I'm going to turn these lights off so she can actually see. You could just You could just I should just walk to you. Just stay right right there for one second. Officer Rodriguez is going to turn the lights off so that way you can see the test and they're not in your eyes while you're doing them. Okay? He's doing that as a courtesy to you so you can perform better without any interruptions. I'm going to have you your right foot in front of your left foot just like this. Your hands are going to be down at your sides and you're going to hold this position while I explain the touch. Do you understand that? So from this position, you have to stand that position, ma'am, until he tells you to do so. Otherwise, okay. So from this position, keep your hands down by your sides. I'm going to have you take nine steps forward, touching heel to toe on each one. So I'm going to demonstrate each step, you're going to count out loud, okay? It's going to go one, two, three on each one. I did three. This is my step. Mike, reexplain that. The cars went by. What? I reexplain how many steps and the turn. The cars went by. We couldn't hear it. We're going to take nine steps. Okay. You're going to turn 180° just like this. And you're going to Yep. You have to Well, only when he tells you to do so. And you're going to walk back the same way. Okay. One, two, three. Again. I did three, but you're going to do nine. After I'm going to do nine. You're going to do nine? Yes, ma'am. Nine up, nine back. Now, after you start the test, I can't explain the instructions anymore. I have to just have you perform the test to best your abilities. Do you have any questions before? Yes. So, nine forward. After that, turn around. Not turn around, just like that. And go nine. Basically, what you're going to do is if this is your ninth step, you're going to turn 180° just like this. Okay. And then walk back nine. One, two, three. Keeping your head, counting out loud all the way through. Nine forward, nine back. Right. Correct. Okay. You can begin whenever you're ready. Okay, I'm ready. Uh, can I look? You can look. Yes. Okay. So, touching heel to toe. Huh? Touching heel to toe. [Music] So, the next test that I'm going to have you perform is going to be the one leg stand test. Okay? So, what I want you to do while I'm explaining this test to you, just one second. I'll wait for the cars to go by so you can hear me clearly. What I want you to do is you can get into just just stand right there. Perfect. Yep. There you go. I don't want I don't want a car to hit either of us. I want you to stand with your feet together just like this. your arms down at your sides just like this. And I want you to hold that position while I explain it to you. Okay? So, it's going to be a foot of your choosing. You're going to lift your foot off the ground approximately 6 in. toes pointed down towards the ground. Looking at your toe, you're going to count 1,00 1,002 1,003 until I tell you to stop. So, I'm going to demonstrate that for you now. 1,00 1 1,002 1,003 1,004 1,005 continuing until I tell you to stop. If at any time your foot comes down like that, just pick it right back up and continue where you left off. Okay, now again, I listen, I I understand. I'm going to take that into account. Do you have Do you have any questions before you start? No, just counting from uh 1,001, right? Until we tell you to stop again. I can't give you any more instructions after you begin. Do you have any questions? So, I'm doing I'm doing counting and seeing like uh say stop and after that I'm just changing leg. No, you're not changing your leg at all. Ah, no. No. So, you're just you're picking your foot up off the ground and counting. Okay. 1,00 1,002 1,003. Again, your foot is going to be approximately 6 in off the ground. You're going to be looking down at that foot. Arms down at your side. Just like this and counting. Okay. Any more questions? No. Just very cold here. Okay. Okay. You can begin whenever you're ready. Okay. I can start. You can start whenever you're ready. And uh uh hands like that. Hands down at your side. Yes, ma'am. 100,0002 100,000 3,0004 105 160 1 [Music] 2017. [Music] That's fine. You you could stop. You're good. You can just uh just stay right there. I'm going to speak with my soldiers real quick. Sit right here. Just lean up against the car. Right there. I'm fine. Okay. I just want you on this side of the car. Okay. Perfect. Thank you so much. I see what you're saying. I didn't mean it like that. What What um traffic based on her excessive speeding, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol earlier that evening, and her inability to satisfactorily complete the field sobriety exercises. After she was placed under arrest and placed inside the patrol car, her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John's law. Officer Rodriguez initially transported Anastasia to the South Brunswick Police Department for the administration of the breathalyzer. All right, Anastasia. So, um, here's the thing. I like to be completely honest with people and upfront. Um, I think you've had a little bit too much to drink tonight. You could leave that. You could leave that there. Um, I think you've had a little bit too much to drink tonight. So, with that being said, I am going to place you under arrest for driving while intoxicated. What does it mean? That means that you're going to be placed under arrest. Oh my god. What's it mean? That means that you're going to come with us. We're going to have you go in a box and it's going to provide a breast safety. From there, you're going to have a court date. You're not going to jail or anything. You're going to get out tonight, but we do need you to come with us. Okay? So, what I need you to do is turn and face this way. Okay, I'm going to put handcuffs on you now. You're in. Yes, ma'am. Oh my god. Yes. So, what I need you to do is I need you to turn and face this vehicle for me. I need you to do that now. Turn what? Face this vehicle for me, please, and put your hands behind your back. So, listen. I know a lot of people get extremely nervous in this situation. I I am already nervous in this situation. But you're going to be out of here in an hour or two. These aren't too tight, right? You want to start thinking about that now. I'd like to tell people so as you're driving back, you can start thinking. Hold on. Anesthesia. So, we're going to get your cell phone for you. We have your driver's license here. So, it's going to be here. So, what I would recommend doing Who are you hanging out with in Bloomfield? No, I have someone to call but um Mhm. But but but my car. Maybe you could stay the night with them. And then you can arrange for stuff with the car tomorrow. Okay. No, I No, I should go to the to the house keys somewhere. Do you have house keys in your bag, ma'am? Of course I do. The keys are in here. I want you to be able to get in your house tonight. Are they? Of course. Yes. Okay.
