Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, and here I am stuck in the middle with you. 39-year-old Erica Mcgriff with a suspended driver's license leaves her illegally parked car unattended in the pickup line of her child's school in Jacksonville, Florida. A cop approaches her and here's what happens. But stay tuned cuz we're also going to look at it through the body cam angle. Check this out. You got me [ __ ] up. >> You going to punch me? [Music] >> You going to hit me? [Music] >> Ma'am, you got somebody. 4707. Are >> you doing [Applause] my help? I don't even know what to say. This is Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Uh, word to the wise or word to the unwise. Ma'am, if you're going to drive around with a suspended driver's license, maybe it would be a good idea to not park illegally and draw attention to yourself. Hey, >> I'm not I'm not justifying any of these cops actions, but it's really hard for me to feel sorry for Mike Tyson and address here. And by the way, this ends up being the inaugural incident for the implementation of the Halo law. Remember the Halo law that went into effect in January of 2025? They're actually going to enact that against two people in the crowd during this incident. That's the devil. Okay. That's the devil. That police officer. Okay. >> That's the devil. Hey yo, I got I got I got the [ __ ] off like a man. >> Me thinks somebody wasn't paying attention during the compliance hold portion of the police academy. You is wrong. >> You is wrong. >> According to news outlets, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has released body cam footage capturing a tense confrontation at a local charter school that escalated into the AY's first arrest under Florida's controversial Halo Law, highlighting growing enforcement of protections for first responders amid public backlash. The incident unfolded on October 7th, 2025 during dismissal at the Idea University Charter School on Basset Road when 39year-old Erica McGriff, identified as a habitual traffic offender with a revoked driver's license, illegally parked her running vehicle in a busy intersection to pick up her child. According to JSO, Mcgriff left the car unattended, prompting an officer to approach her for the violation. What began as a routine traffic stop quickly spiraled into violence. Gee, I wonder why. Body cam footage shows McGriff refusing to provide her license, walking away while insisting she was simply retrieving her student, and then resisting arrest. She squared up to the officer, exchanged blows, and bit him on the arm during the struggle. And you can see the bite mark in the body worn camera footage, which we're going to look at in a second. The officer, alone at the scene, restrained her on the concrete using a chokeold, which wasn't very good or effective as a school administrator assisted. Within moments, a crowd of onlookers gathered just feet away, shouting at the officer to release her, creating what authorities described as a disturbing and potentially dangerous environment. The footage played during a news briefing by Sheriff TK Waters also includes cell phone video from a bystander that went viral on social media, further illustrating the agitated crowd's proximity to the officer. It's not an easy job and it's making it more difficult when police officers come out here and try to affect the law lawfully and you get surrounded like that. It's dangerous. Anything can happen. Waters said, "That's how we feel when we're approached by cops." McGriff was ultimately handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle. She faces multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, operating a vehicle with a revoked license as a habitual traffic offender, and four additional traffic infractions. She's probably going to go up the river for a long, long time unnecessarily. And check this out. The crowd's interference triggered JSO's inaugural use of the Halo Law, formerly known as honoring and listening to our officers, which is SB84, which we've talked about on this channel, which took effect on January 1st, 2025. Two women from the crowd were arrested in connection with the event. a 59-year-old spectator who was charged with interfering with the first responder after allegedly using an expletive to harass the officer and failing to retreat following the warning. On October 10th, a couple days later, a 36-year-old woman was taken into custody. So, they hunted her down for the same interference charge plus possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. She had reportedly grabbed her phone from the ground and was quote doing a lot of chirping per authorities. So, she gets apprehended, too. All right, let's take a look at this body cam. [Music] This is a problem. What are you doing? >> I need your license. >> Huh? >> Need your license? I >> I don't know what you're talking about. >> That's your car.
