what are you gonna do you'll write me a ticket welcome back to the lackluster channel today's video features constable mark herman of houston's precinct 4 who on may 8th of 2018 ran a red light while making a left turn what he didn't realize is a deputy of the harris county sheriff's office was right behind him and witnessed the infraction the deputy initiated a traffic stop and as the vehicle slowed down constable hermann flashes his red and blue strobes to communicate that he was part of the same gang the deputy can be heard calling in the vehicle to ensure it wasn't stolen but less than two minutes after pulling him over constable harris grew impatient and exited his vehicle and approached the deputy's cruiser so [Music] oh yeah now 24 king six one two four sorry would you say constable i said are you gonna get out and approach my car i'm trying to safely conduct my traffic stop sir i'm gonna run your plate make sure your vehicle is not stolen okay you know the standard procedures right constable uh no i didn't know there was a standard but i guess i would try to keep myself safe make sure that's not a stolen vehicle i just pulled over that's not a stolen vehicle i flashed my back strobes at you which i'm sure you got on your video i'm trying to work i did not see those back strobes okay uh what can i do for you what do you need for me uh i need your diet license please and proof of insurance are you serious you just ran a red light right in front of me okay i didn't run a red light it's on camera why if i did i certainly didn't mean to so you can do you'll write me a ticket no sir i'm not okay you know i got a lot license you know that's a county vehicle because you've already run it it is a county vehicle that's a county ride man okay let me isn't stolen and if we watch the video over again we can see that constable harris is the third vehicle to run the red making it hard to believe that it was an accident constables are elected into office and in this case constable harris admits that he had known the deputy for years it's likely that he thought that flashing his strobes and showing his uniform to the deputy would get him out of a ticket and it did we have plenty of examples on the internet of what happens if you were to aggressively approach an officer during a traffic stop absent of a uniform get back in your car sit back excuse me who do you think you are behind the harris county sheriff's department released this statement a harris county sheriff's office deputy conducted a traffic stop after observing a pickup truck that appeared to run a red light at tc jester and luetta on the morning of may 8th the driver of the vehicle cooperated with the deputy and no citations were issued it seems they failed to mention that the driver was a constable constable herman went on to tell abc that he found it suspicious that the sheriff's deputy was tailing his truck and surreptitiously recording him driving but the harris county sheriff vehicles automatically roll back and record the video 30 seconds before a deputy turns on his lights once the video went viral constable herrmann contacted the sheriff's office and asked the deputy to issue him a traffic citation for the incident he was told that the deputy cleared the stop and issued a warning given that the incident was all over the news constable hermann decided to issue himself a citation for running a red light pled no contest and paid the fine whether or not he would have cited himself without the media hype is unclear but it does seem to be another case of rules for thee but not for me unless i get caught flash my back strobes at you which i'm sure you got on your video i'm trying to work i did not see those back strobes okay uh what can
