In this video, we're going to see American peace officers doing well, peaceful things. >> GET INSIDE. GET IN YOUR HOUSE NOW. LET'S GO. >> LIGHT THEM UP. >> GO INSIDE [screaming] NOW. >> GET IN THE HOUSE. To kick this video off, right, I contend that there's no safer place to be in America, you know, when police are nearby, than sitting on the porch of your own home, filming our valiant heroes and boys in blue as they walk down the streets. >> Oh, there's more. >> Look at this. They just keep coming. >> GO INSIDE. GET INSIDE. GET INSIDE. [screaming] >> GET INSIDE. GET IN YOUR HOUSE NOW. LET'S GO. [screaming] >> LIGHT HIM UP. >> GO INSIDE [screaming] NOW. >> GET IN THE HOUSE. >> Jesus [ __ ] >> Get in. Get in. Get in. Get in. Get in. Get in. >> Get in. >> Oh god, that hurt. You good? >> You okay? Right on the [ __ ] crotch. >> Are you okay you got hit? >> I'm good. >> Okay, that doesn't seem very safe, but I'm sure they just wanted to light these people up for their safety. All right, let's just kind of start the video all over. There's no safer place to be in America than inside your own home while you and your family are asleep. Hey, >> I hear banging and I hear gunshots. >> Tonight, newly released 911 calls by Farmington police reveal the chaotic moments when a New Mexico man was fatally shot by officers after they showed up to the wrong home. His 14-year-old daughter calling for help. >> My mom was screaming and she was saying like, "Oh my god, screaming. Oh my god." >> The shooting, police say, a tragic mistake captured by body camera footage. Police Department. >> Police announcing themselves multiple times around 11:30 p.m. But just over 2 minutes later, >> hey, have them. >> Shots fired. Shots fired. >> Officers were responding to a domestic violence call at 5308 Valley View Avenue. >> I've got officers aware of the situation. I need you to separate from each other. Okay. >> No. >> But instead, they arrived at this home across the street at 5305. The officers heard in the body cam video realizing they were at the incorrect address. The video released by Farmington police was edited by the department to redact the name of one of the officers. >> Is this not 5308? That's what it said right there. Right. Don't tell me I'm wrong. Oh, >> the man, Robert [clears throat] Dodson, was armed with a handgun as he opened the door. What followed was a chaotic scene with officers retreating and opening fire. Mr. Dodson was struck and later died at the scene. >> Even though Robert Dodson was armed, an attorney for the city of Farmington confirms he did not fire his handgun at officers. This angle from a second officer's lapel cam shows Dodson in the doorway. After Datson was shot, police say his wife fired one round at officers, not realizing it was police who'd fired the fatal shots. Hands up. >> You not only took away my husband, my best friend, my soulmate, but you took away numerous children's father. >> One of those children called 911 during the confusing scene. >> Okay. Can you confirm that everyone's safe inside your home? >> I don't I don't safe, but my dad My dad shot. Yeah, I'm on the phone with 911. >> Dodson's family and attorney also releasing this doorbell camera footage of the moment Dodson answered the door, armed with his handgun and showing his perspective. >> In a statement, the city's attorney saying the officers had to use deadly force to defend themselves. >> Mr. Dodson never stood a chance. And I know pizza delivery drivers don't even get the address wrong. And lives don't even hang in the balance. So this has to be an anomaly, right? I mean, people are safe inside their own home, aren't they? Here's one that they missed. My nephew was on the other side of this wall. He's lucky he didn't get hit. >> There's a lot Thomas Simpson can be thankful for. >> I am grateful everybody is alive >> right now. It's just life itself after what happened early Friday morning. >> Are my kids okay? >> He says everyone was asleep and around 1:45 his dog started barking aggressively. So he went to check. >> I grabbed my pistol, open this door and as it's opening I see two sets of legs on the other side in my driveway. So I raise my pistol. I don't know who it is. I'm assuming it's criminals, car thieves, whatever. He says he immediately saw it was Grand Prairie police and dropped his gun, but then officers opened fire, hitting him in the leg. >> They entered here and exited back here. >> Simpson says he never heard them announce themselves. Yet, several shots later, you >> got the one there, one down there over in the wall there. >> Simpson says his entire family was inside the home. >> My wife in bed and those shots are going straight towards her. So, I was terrified that she got shot while she's in bed. >> I was scared he was actually going to die, that I was actually going to lose my father. >> Now, this mistake happened after the department said its 911 dispatch system autopop populated the wrong address, which took them to Simpson's house. >> Okay. He wasn't safe inside his own home either. Can we just do a quick reset on the video? There's no safer place for a pregnant woman in America to be than driving down the road, minding her own business, and then trying to find a safe place to pull over when a trooper lights her up. >> You only one in the vehicle? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Well, ma'am, we've got to pull over when we had my flashlight. >> It doesn't matter, ma'am. Now, that is dash cam video captured the night of this incident last July when trooper Rodney Dunn tried to pull over Janice Harper for speeding. Harper was pregnant at the time. She turned on her hazard lights as a signal she was looking for a safe place to pull over. But a few minutes later, Harper had still not pulled over. And that's when Trooper Dunn used the pit maneuver to end the chase, hitting her and causing her SUV to hit a divider and then flip. Okay, maybe parking your vehicle so you can enjoy a tasty burger is a safe place to be on American soil. A police officer in San Antonio has been fired after shooting and critically wounding a teenager who was eating a hamburger outside of McDonald's. We want to warn you, the video is pretty graphic. Body cam video shows the incident from last Sunday. You can see the officer walk up to the car where Eric Cantu was sitting inside with a friend eating. The officer then opened the door and ordered Cantou out. Cantou touches this wheel and the officer opens fire. Cantou then drives away as the officer continues to fire. The teenager was struck repeatedly and is currently hospitalized on life support. [sighs and gasps] All right, I tell you what, it's all about roadway safety, right? So, let's go back to the interstate. I have no doubt that this elderly couple right here can be completely confident that Arkansas State Troopers have their back when it comes to highway safety. I mean, they would never dare jeopardize public safety by performing a tactical vehicle intervention at 132 m hour. [laughter] Right. Jonesboro, we got to roll over. Send me 1016. >> Oh my freaking god. Because of this tactical vehicle intervention at 132 miles per hour, 73year-old George Katross and his 67year-old wife Carmela were seriously injured and had to be lifellighted to the nearest hospital. And while some might understand performing a pit maneuver on a fleeing vehicle, what about doing a tactical vehicle intervention on the wrong vehicle after pulling over the right vehicle? [laughter] That would never happen, would it? >> Come here. Hey, come on out of the car for me. Security is more than hot. before the hot 64 57 mph. >> We just took the exit. 30 mph. >> Yeah. Get out. Show me your hands. Show me your hands. Get out of the vehicle. Show me your hands. car. >> I'm sorry. I got the wrong car. You're good. Get back in the vehicle. >> Honestly, I'll give you a report number. I'm so sorry. >> Guys, I'm sorry. I had a car fleeing. I thought it was y'all's car. I'm so sorry. >> 1022 the pursuit. I stopped the wrong vehicle. >> Can you give me an LCA? Yeah. >> Is it really possible to honestly mistake this vehicle for this vehicle? I mean, unless drugs are involved, and I'm talking about mass quantities of drugs that might be consumed by the trooper here. Now, at this point, I'm just holding out hope that American police will at least keep us safe when we get off work and decide to exercise our freedom to wait for a lift driver to take us home. But I'm not exactly reassured by the presence of that taser and that red dot on that young man's chest. >> What's going on with you? >> ID card. Something with your name on it. Officer >> 6K93 central. >> That's my ride. I'm going to go ahead and go. >> No, you're not. >> Can you start me, please? >> I didn't break any laws. I didn't break any laws, sir. So, >> stop, dude. You can make an emergency, please. I got one resistance. >> I I work here, sir. I just thought I worked. You don't believe me? >> Dude, you're going to get tased. >> I work here. >> Turn around. >> I work here. >> Stand up and turn around. >> Okay. I work here, SIR. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. DON'T MOVE. Don't move. If you move, there's a canine in my car. You're going to get dog bit. I was I was >> Stop moving your hands. >> I got one detained. >> Who is that? Is that person related to you? >> No, that's my lift. Can you just let them know that um it's it's $40. >> I ask Okay. I pull up. Let's recap everything. >> All right. >> So, I pull up. I see you sitting there and then all a sudden I'm pulling up. You're hiding behind the pillars of a closed business. How's that look, dude? >> You say hiding. I just got up. >> But just look from my It's a closed business, >> right? >> I pull up. You're hiding behind the pillars. It looks strange. Does that look weird? Does that sound weird to you? >> And then listen. And then I tell you you're detained. >> Yeah. >> And you're telling me you're going to leave. >> Okay. Okay. I understand. Then you were resisting. >> Okay. Okay. I I I apologize. You say hiding. I just got up and just put my hoodie on. That's all I did. >> Do you really work here? >> I swear to God I work here. But what time what time is it? Can you tell me what time it is? >> Just tell me what time it is. I get Look what >> Look up what time CVS closes. Look up what time CVS closes. >> It's 10:00. You got your ID card on you? >> I didn't do anything wrong, sir. I got off work and my manager just left. His name is Mike. Well, >> I I'm your ride. This is my ride. Just one second. >> Hey, you're you're good to go. He doesn't need a ride anymore. I'm better get him one. >> I say he's he called a lift or something, I think. >> Yeah. Yeah. On the lift. I >> Yeah, I got I got one for him. So, you're free to go. >> Yeah, >> you can cancel it or something. He's get he might get arrested. So, >> I hear you. >> I'm passing by. I see someone. So, I was like, I'll dip in and check who it is. As I'm pulling in, he hides behind the pole. So, I'm like, that's [ __ ] strange. So obviously, I need to talk to this guy. His business is closed. >> Yeah. >> I go talk to him like, "Hey, man." >> And he's like, "Am I being detained?" I said, "Yes, you are. You're being detained." That was his Uber right there. >> Apparently, he works here, but dude, he passed that point and he's trying to jump in that and leave. >> Yeah. >> Is that his [ __ ] that's on the bench up here, too? >> Uh-huh. Yeah. >> I do believe that he works here. I mean, he looks like he's in workers's clothing, but I mean, he was going to try to dictate and tell me he was going to leave, so I'm not I'm not playing that game. No, he's going to learn fortunately the hard way. So >> yeah, you're going to learn the hard way if you think you can clock out and peacefully wait for a lift driver to take you home in the land of the free home of the brave. You got another thing coming, buddy. >> All right, face the car for me, bud. Don't lean against the car so hard. I got to check your pockets. You got anything illegal on you that you shouldn't have? You are going to jail tonight. I was pretty clear with you and cool. You don't get to tell me that you're going to leave. Okay. I told you. You asked me if you were detained. I said, "Yes, dude." And then you decide you just want to leave and do whatever the [ __ ] you want. Are you going to talk or No. Okay, that's fine. >> Is this a fake pocket? >> You don't want to have You don't have questions for me? >> I just You understand why you're getting arrested? >> I was just sitting there. I got Do you understand why you're getting arrested? >> My lift My lift came. I'll pull this back so you don't get too hot. >> Okay. Not enough. Put my hoodie back on. >> Nope. So, you don't want me to explain to you. You're good. I want to explain to you. I I think I dictated a little bit what was going on. You You look It was very strange, dude. Close business. I pull up. You're hiding behind the pole. So, I get out with you. Okay. I ask you to identify yourself. Then you ask me to detain. I tell you, you are detained. Okay. Cuz Lord Brownley, I can investigate that. Although I'm not going to charge you with that, nor I'm going to go further in that. I'm ask you for uh to identify yourself. If you fail to do that, I'm going to charge you resisting. Okay?
