I don't believe him. >> Is she in there? >> No. >> No sir. No. You're not allowed to come in. >> I'm going to tell you right now, I'm going to arrest you for obstruction if you don't murder. Come out here. Come out here. >> I got the taser. I stepped back like the supervisor had. I did deescalate. >> Welcome back to the Lackluster channel. The Apple Watch has a built-in fall detection feature. It's typically useful in calling for help in the event of a traumatic injury or a patient in medical distress. His car rolled over twice, stopping on its side and pinning Casey by a seat belt. His Apple Watch sent an alert to his emergency contacts list and got him a 911 dispatcher. >> When his Apple Watch first asked for help, he said he didn't need it. But moments later, the device automatically called 911 when it sensed he was in distress. >> If the patient is nonresponsive, an AI voice will attempt to relay what it thinks happened to the call taker. >> 911, where's your emergency? Apple Watch was in a severe car crash and is not responding to their watch. >> That automated message from the driver's Apple Watch is all the information they had. >> And if the patient can speak, dispatch can gather relevant information as to what type of response is needed. >> In this case, it may have saved two hikers lives when they fell off of a cliff. >> Where are you now? >> I'm hanging off a cliff. >> If I didn't have that watch on, I'd probably be dead right now. But on June 1st, a viewer named Steven was at home when he heard his mother calling out to him for help from her bedroom. In her later years, she doesn't need aroundthe-clock care, but does require assistance from time to time with various tasks. From my experience as a paramedic, I learned that falls are the leading cause of injury related death among seniors. More than 3 million adults over the age of 65 are treated in the ER every year for head injuries or hip fractures due to a simple fall. Now responding to her yells from across the house, Steven found his mother on the floor of her bedroom. Her Apple Watch detected the fall and connected to emergency services. >> The owner of this Apple Watch has taken a hard fall and is not responding to their watch. The emergency location is latitude 33.95, >> longitude minus 85.2548 with an estimated search radius of 17 m. This message reads. Press zero to stop. >> Hello. >> The owner of this Aqua Watch has taken a calling to their emergency. >> Ma'am, can you hear me? latitude 33.9573 longitude - 85.2 with an estimated >> ma'am. Can you hear me? >> Press zero to stop. >> The owner of this has taken a heart. The emergency location is latitude 33.9. >> Ma'am, can you hear me? >> An estimated surf radius of 17 m. This message received [Music] >> ma'am. [Applause] [Music] >> Can you hear me? >> Responding to their emergency longitude 85.2548 2548 with an S. >> Instead of sending an ambulance, dispatchers sent officers Joe Dyer and Demetrius Irvin to the home. Hey, >> is everything okay here? >> Yes, sir. Did you get a fall alert? >> Yeah. >> Yes, sir. I just uh she was able to call me and uh my mom fell. >> Is she okay? >> Uh I think she's going to be um she'll be fine. He said his mother's failed and I don't know if she fell or not. >> Yeah, she I told you she failed. >> I don't believe him. >> Is she in there? >> No, I haven't been in there. >> I don't. >> That's like you handled it. >> Where's your mother at? >> What's the problem, officer? >> Sir, I'll tell you what the problem is. We got dispatched here for a call of a female screaming uncontrollably. Yes. >> And I'd like to see the said female. So, if you don't mind, open the door. >> Thank you. >> No, sir. You're not allowed to come in. >> You better. >> You're not allowed to come in my house. >> I'm going to tell you right now, I'm going to arrest you for obstruction if you don't move. >> You're not allowed to come out. >> Step out here. Come out here. >> No, sir. >> You are not allowed. >> I want to see your mother. >> Well, tell her to come out. >> You will scream at me again. >> Don't scream at me again. Ask her to come out here. Ask her to come out here. After accusing Steven of lying and as a good habit, he denies the officer's entry into the home. He does however return to his mother to assist her to the front entry, holding her as to prevent another fall. >> That's why I said you go >> cuz I I don't believe him. >> I got the taser. >> Okay. >> I'm just going to we're just going to come forward with it if we have to. You hear me? >> Yeah. Thank you decept. >> Hey sir, you >> they are not allowed. >> You sir, I want to talk to your mama. I'm not concerned with you. >> As a matter of fact, sir, you step over there and I will talk to your mama by herself. >> No, I'm going to hold her while she can. >> You come right here, man. Do you need an ambulance? >> No, I don't think so. >> You've hit your face, ma'am. I come in and >> Yes, ma'am. I'll be glad to come in. >> No, please don't. Let's I got up to feed the cat. They came in and uh got up and you can come. >> I'll call you an ambulance if you need. >> No, come in to see the scene. I want you. >> Yes, ma'am. I'll be glad to. >> I want to see. >> Despite now realizing they assessed the scene incorrectly. Instead of apologizing to Steven and working towards winning the hearts and minds of the public, the officers continue their belligerent bedside manner, acting like complete jackasses with a license to bully without a particular reason. >> Oh, >> I'm good. >> And >> yes, ma'am. >> Well, I don't appreciate >> Sir, I'm talking to your mama. I'm not talking to you. >> I don't appreciate the officer telling me I'm lying is what I don't >> I want to know. We have to check. >> That's fine. >> Do you think Please stop talking and let her talk. >> You better let her talk cuz you're interfering with me talking to her. >> Or is it just coming from >> I want to hear from your mama. >> Please sit. Please sit down. >> No, just sit down. Have Have a seat, sweetheart. >> You talk to him and just sit down. >> You tell me what you need and I'll be glad to get it. >> Okay. I was thinking about >> Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. >> Just sit down and talk to him. Just talk to him. >> Just talk to him. >> Hello, ma'am. >> Anyway, the cat feeds and then I always >> Yes, ma'am. >> go in there and feed my cat feeding them and I went back to the >> theater. I had the cat food my hand. I went back to >> and I fell in there on those. >> Ma'am, that's a pretty nasty gas. Would you like for me to call an ambulance gas? I think it's just more or less bruised. >> Anything you need? Yes, ma'am. If you don't want an ambulance, I won't call. If you want one, I will. >> I know you would. No, there's nothing. No, there's nothing. I'm sorry. This this happened. Anyway, I >> called and and he just had gotten here and I I crawled for >> Yes, ma'am. >> And that looked right here where >> Now that the encounter has returned to a calm, officer Dyer begins to escalate again. I had just gotten out of the show. >> I believe you now that I've seen you, sir. You think people haven't lied to us before? Look me in my face and tell me that I haven't been to a problem where somebody's been fine, but I don't appreciate. >> I don't care if you're I did you have right next to If you got a problem, how I handle it. >> He didn't. >> Well, I'm not him. >> He didn't. And you started You started yelling at me. Obstruction. You stuck right in the door and you held my door and you tried out my house. >> You know what? We did deescalate. I stepped back. >> I stepped back. I stepped back like the supervisor handle. I did deescalate. >> If you got a problem with the way I handle it, you welcome pulling your taser out. >> I'm putting it back in. >> Do we know you? >> He's my son. I live with him and he takes care of me. Very good care of me. >> And you you don't need any phone? >> No. I know. >> That's all I care. seen it and where it happened. >> No, he's seen it. He's seen it. >> He had seen him there. >> If he wants walking, he can. I'm ready for y'all to leave. Please. >> He certainly has been in length to me. >> Yes, ma'am. That's good enough for me. I believe >> a little. >> But see, you have to you have to understand, we don't know until we see. >> Okay. We don't know what's going on. >> What I was upset about is he grabbed the door and started coming in the house. >> You're not going to close the door in my face. I'll figure I don't care. If you don't like that, you can report it to the county police. >> What are your tax numbers? >> Mine is 806 right here. Sergeant Joe D. And you are on video. >> Okay, great. >> Mine's Urban Mine's Urban 839. You don't you please please get it. >> Oh, I wish you would. >> What's the badge number again? It's 806. >> Mine's 839. It was just so ma'am. >> You don't have to be upset, ma'am. I'm glad you're okay. That's all I need to know. >> Okay. >> All right. Thank you. >> Thank you for coming. Thank you. >> You're very welcome. If >> you need anything, you being deceptive, man. >> Have a good day. >> If your mama If your mama needs ambulance, she'll have one. I promise. Okay. He was he was lying. I I'm not saying he was lying. He was being deceptive like he didn't want us to see something defensive. >> I'm sure there was >> That's why I stepped back. I'm like, "Hey man, >> I tell you what cracks me up." He said, "You have no right." I'm like, "Yes, I do." >> That's why I stepped back. I said, "Hey, Joe, handle it." Cuz uh >> he ain't >> What cracks me up is they think we don't have the right to investigate. Yeah, >> it's obviously semantics, but police do not have a right to investigate. They have authority, and that authority is limited by the Constitution. A right implies something inherent, such as free speech or your right to defend oneself. Adversely, police are granted the authority to investigate under certain conditions, but their power stops where your rights begin. And this is especially true when it comes to your home. In this case, police responded to an automated fall detection alert. However, it is possible the nature of the call was not disseminated accurately, and when they arrived, they claimed someone had been screaming. Steven calmly explained that his mother was okay and even offered to bring her to the door, being that he is a competent adult at this point. The police do not have a right or the authority to enter unless they have consent, a warrant, or probable cause of a crime, plus exigent circumstances. The continued escalation is childish and petty and falls well below our minimum expectations for agents of the state. Or perhaps it's exactly the type of behavior the fiction of government wants to be known for. Let me know what you think in the comments down below.
