what if I told you that the federal government has authorized a private security firm to come to your house or stop you in your car and take your property take your cash take whatever valuables you have in your car or your house or even take your car would you still think this is the land of the free home of the brave there was a new article that was just put out by Fox News says the doj the Department of Justice eyeing Americans like ATMs spending over six nine million six billion dollars to Aid civil asset forfeitures says federal government spends billions to identify and seize assets through forfeiture and before anybody says this is Biden's doj we need to get him out of office and get somebody new we need Trump back in there let me just refresh your memory back when Trump was President he authorized civil asset forfeiture over and above what Obama did I'm just going to read some of this article right here from the street it says civil asset forfeiture is the latest Danger from the Trump Administration the new rule announced by the justice department that's Trump's doj won't just expand the practice it's designed specifically to defeat protections past at the state level so Trump wanted to use the federal government to override state law it will almost certainly lead to abuse you think but here's the kicker here's the kicker yes Obama's bad yes Biden's bad yes Trump is bad but check this out as reported by the Washington compost pile the justice department announced a new federal policy Wednesday to help state and local police take cash and property from Americans suspected of a crime even without a criminal charge reversing an Obama administration rule prompted by past abuse by police so Obama said no don't do it Trump goes no we need to take people's stuff maybe we can fund the border wall this is what it says right here in the U.S news and World Report Trump tapped civil asset forfeiture to fund border wall hey I've got a I've got a great idea let's take more money from the American Tax cattle and let's say uh oh we suspect you of committing a crime that gives us justification to take your car to take your valuables to take your cash to even take your house and your property that civil asset forfeiture back to this Fox News article this guy says you probably heard the adage you got to spend money to make money he said you got to spit for the government you got to spend money to take money see the government has what it takes to take what you've got since the Department of Justice is shelling out more than six billion dollars to private companies to manage its asset forfeiture investigation you mean Road piracy operation on your land it's going to be a piracy operation they can just come to your house and say hey we suspect that you have committed a crime that's why you have all this cash that's why you have this house that's why you have this car because we suspect you're involved in criminal activity says asset forfeiture is the process through which the government seizes money or other property that is believed to be linked to a crime and that's all they got to say they don't need a warrant they don't need probable cause they don't even need reasonable articulable suspicion the doj is empowered and emboldened to hire private firms to help them take more of your money to take more of your assets to take more of your valuables most federal forfeitures are civil meaning the government can keep the seized property without ever charging the owner with a crime and good luck getting that back you're going to have to hire some high-powered lawyers you're going to have to spend a whole lot of money and here's the kicker the state will take your money and then give your money money property Vehicles whatever to the federal government and then when you go after the state to get it back they're going to be like well we don't have it we gave it to the federal government so the federal and state authorities are in collusion together because the the money is given to the feds and the FEDS give the state a cut and the cut use that tax cattle asset forfeit your money to you know refurbish their police departments or buy high-powered Cruisers get another mrap or get weapons that they're going to be used they're going to deploy against you the doj announced earlier this year more than six billion dollars in contracts awarded to multiple private companies to help with asset forfeiture investigations contractors are expected to help with everything from investigating and identifying assets for seizures so they're going to go through records they're going to go through bank accounts they're going to go through purchases that you made and we're talking about you we're talking about me the gun of the federal government has been locked cocked and loaded and it's pointed at us to record keeping and providing courtroom testimony this guy right here says these are six billion reasons we need civil forfeiture reform now we don't need civil forfeiture reform we need it demolished and removed from American Life Congress must act to prevent law enforcement from treating ordinary Americans like ATMs yet Congress which is the opposite of progress is really on your side Democrat Republican it doesn't matter a republican-run doj wanted to initiate civil asset forfeiture a democrat-run doj wants to initiate civil asset forfeiture tell me what the difference between a Republican or a Democrat is and check this out forfeiture generated more than 45.7 billion dollars in revenue for the federal government alone just the federal government not including state government between 2000 and 2000 119. this guy says Federal forfeiture is a big business and it's a particularly big business for the law enforcement agencies that get to spend the money out of these funds the FBI who's always on our side tout's forfeiture is an important tool for quote disrupting and dismantling criminal and terrorist organizations and punishing criminals says the terrorist organization as well as compensating victims and protecting communities it's all about protection hey we're from the government and we're only here to help ourselves to your stuff forfeiture can also serve as a deterrent to others who might be considering criminal activities Oh you're not a criminal yet but you're thinking about it well guess what we just took your neighbor's car we just took your neighbor's cash we just took your neighbor's house and your property and it's going to happen to you if you get involved in criminal activity even though by the way your neighbor wasn't a criminal and he wasn't charged with a crime but we said that we suspect him of having committed a crime and that's why he has that house and that's why he has that money and that's why he has that car but critics like the institute for justice argue innocent Americans are often targeted by forfeiture fighting to get C's property back as difficult inexpensive and they know it they got the Deep Pockets they got the unlimited resources and they know that they can wear you out and wear you down since forfeiture effectively places the burden of proof on the property owner not the government and because it's a civil case there is no right to a public defender so you have to actually prove that you're innocent they don't have to prove you're guilty one of ij's clients had her nest egg seized during an FBI raid on U.S private vaults in 2021. the FBI seized safety deposit boxes and their contents totaling around 86 million dollars in cash and tens of millions more in gold silver jewelry and other valuables this lady says the FBI feels like they can get away with anything U.S private vaults later pleaded guilty to money laundering but neither Martin nor hundreds of other customers were charged with a crime many other agencies can utilize forfeiture too from The Drug Enforcement Administration to The Postal inspection service border patrol officer seized more than 200 thousand dollars on average every day at the nation's ports of entry and have confiscated more than 41.3 million dollars in fiscal 2023 so far they're just cons they have a revenue stream that you cannot imagine two hundred thousand dollars on average every single day is confiscated by border patrol alone how much does the FBI get how much does the ATF get how about the DEA how about the other alphabet soup agencies everyone should be concerned about this because you could be a victim you could be someone who's cash whose car whose home gets seized in order to support These funds a previous IJ report found that 78 percent of all forfeiture cases the doj processed between 2000 and 2019 were administrative meaning agencies seized property with little or no judicial oversight so there's nobody watching the Fox as he removes the chickens from the hen house and tears a couple hens up in the process and this guy ends with if the federal government is spending billions of dollars to do it that means they're spending billions of dollars to Target someone just like you so I don't care if it's the Biden doj the Trump doj the Clinton or the Reagan or whoever civil asset forfeiture has been a thing for a long time they don't need a warrant they don't need probable cause they don't need Reasonable articulable Suspicion and it doesn't matter if it's a Democrat doing it or republican this is downright theft and because it's done by the barrel of a government gun more specifically it is
