you know what i can prove you that that's wrong oh really yeah state arkansas right now yeah we go by our lawn wow yeah but then i don't need to get there because i haven't make any mistakes welcome back to the lackluster channel today's video was submitted by marco an interstate truck driver who was hauling merchandise on the eastbound i-40 outside of lonoke arkansas marco was driving at 70 miles per hour when he is passed by another vehicle next we see arkansas state police officer pettit passing the truck he appears to be pacing the surrounding vehicles during this time marco is slowing his vehicle down to widen the gap between his truck and the vehicle that had just taken his lane suddenly officer pettit slows down aggressively and gets behind marco to initiate a traffic stop we have over here we have a cup doing some sort of what i mean [Applause] too close to the car in front of you spread out give them some room okay prom i can prove you that's wrong i can prove you that that's wrong oh really yeah okay you have your driver's license and insurance yes sir nice trap isn't yours right here okay thank you marco marco yeah i said we like about seven eight car lengths in between you and the vehicle in front of you yeah maybe about three three and a half it's two seconds so it's two seconds though well here's my rule of thumb for every 10 mile an hour one car length say you're going 10 miles an hour one more length 20 miles an hour two car lengths 30 miles an hour three car laps you're going about 70 so you need about seven car lengths that's according to d.o.t it's it's a two uh seconds seventy miles an hour state arkansas right now yeah we go by our lawn wow yeah yeah but the fmcsa stays that is two seconds the minimum distance for 70 miles an hour no no no been 30 years so i can tell you that well i can tell you i've been 30 years working here well we've been meeting ourselves over here quite a while yeah okay well hey let's get finished up so we can both get out of here looks good okay marco from uh let's see got insurance what's his best number by the way what you hauling today marco i don't know what it's when i got the bill in red you don't know what you're holding says here you're hauling uh 15 pilots of some certain food probably food stuff stuff frozen frozen food no it's not frozen coconut no no no it's not frozen this is a dried banana oh food stuff other than frozen my bad i read it wrong other than frozen okay yeah some kind of food you know so i don't know okay good outstanding hey let me go run a quick check yeah and we'll get you right out of here okay all right so here we have a arkansas state uh trooper uh disdain that uh okay stay thing that for every car for every 10 miles he says that uh it got to be one or two cars something like that so that means that uh at 70 miles an hour you gotta have like what seven cars apart which is not true because according to fmcsa which is a federal moral carrier safety administration it is two seconds of distance between cars that's the distance we have too we have to keep all the time so i'm gonna stop this video a little bit and wait for him to see what he said okay everything's good okay i think good good news no tickets just a warning okay okay five seconds be careful take care so he says no tickets why not ticket for i don't need to got their pictures i haven't make any mistakes i was not speeding so here here we are arkansas state troopers just bothering just for the hell of it marco has been driving for over 25 years before the mass production and distribution of cameras he was issued many tickets that he alleges would have been proven false if captured on a dash cam if you don't have one check out the links below for my recommendations it appears as though the stop was made for the purpose of investigating the contents of the truck as the reasoning of officer pettit doesn't hold up civil asset forfeiture surpassed burglaries in recent years and a large quantity of those seizures occur between arkansas and tennessee which makes the officer's request to view the bill of lading somewhat suspicious regarding the distance dispute the arkansas driver's license study guide does favor marco's two second rule in fact it's even named the two second rule and is claimed to work at any speed but for commercial motor vehicles the fmcsa recommends 5 seconds for speeds over 40 miles per hour in conclusion i recognized that the officer could have been acting in good faith for the safety of marco and the citizens that fund his employment but the dash cam evidence is still concerning let me know in the comments what you think was this stop necessary arbitrary or pretextual thanks for watching if you have a video you'd like
