Quit trying to pull your hand out of the cuffs and it won't hurt. Exactly. Okay. Whatever you think. Okay. You are a wonderful human. Four months after the previous incident, the police received a call about a loud noise in the neighborhood. When officers arrived to investigate, they discovered it was heard. I'm not yelling. I'm not going to stand here and let you yell at your mama. I'm I promise I'm not yelling. You good? I'm okay. All right. Hey. Uh so this is my little area. So I'm going to work the crash report. Yes, sir. That's okay. We'll just walk over to my car and we'll just have a seat in there and then we'll type up what we need to do and we'll go from there. All right. So, is it your car or is your Okay, cool. Is there insurance? Okay. Do you know Do you know who? She just bought it. Okay, I got you. You know what company? Insurance I think is what she told me. Okay, I'll run the tag and see if I got you. Where's the blood from? Your hands? I have no idea. You don't know? No, I don't. I'm good, though. You got scratches on your hands or what? I'm okay. Thank you, though. I appreciate it. I don't mean to be rude. No, you're not being rude. So, what happened tonight? I was just driving my friends home. Dropped my last friend home. This is the way I come home. Mhm. cuz I work at right there and just the way I come home and I'll just So you'll leave cars at the bank. I'm sorry. Or did you leave cars at the bank? I just turn right there cuz that's just the way I go home. Okay. So it's just my natural way of turning left out. Okay. When I'm coming like that way, right? But I just I was driving and I swear I wasn't on my phone or nothing. And I just I hit the corner perfectly and I really thought I was just going to hit cuz I felt it hit and I was like, "Okay, I'm just going to bounce back and I just flipped just like that." Were you wearing your seat belt? Yes. And were you by yourself? Yes. You said you were giving some f friends a ride home. Where were you coming from? Um Tap House from Georgia. Okay. How long had you been there? 30 minutes. I was a DD tonight. So I was just kind of following my friend and I took him back to the I don't know what they're called, but over there on the other side. Okay. No idea what they're called. But did you did y'all go anywhere else besides Georgia Tap House? Just tap House. Just house. Did you have dinner while you were there or just drinks? Um I ate at home. Like I ate at home, went and drank. And I mean I didn't drink. I went home and just chilled. They drank. I had one beer of course like at the beginning of the night and then one beer at the end of like two two hours later. I'm good in my opinion. I feel like I'm okay. Okay. So, you think you're safe to drive? Yeah. Like two hours later, one beer isn't going to do anything anybody, right? Um, so we'll do this crash for you. Uh, you have insurance? I do. Okay. So, we'll give you the report number and then you'll just call your insurance company and tell them what happened. They can get our police report. Um, do you have a card that you can write that down? I think my phone is under my Yeah. No, I'll get to you in just a minute. And then we'll get we'll get everything you need to get out of there once they get it all looked over or whatnot. So that car like I mean obviously need to be observant over any car but it's an accident they call that car just that house is for sale. So like me, I'm just like, "Okay, like I'm change the song. It's not there." And just it literally happened in a split in the second and scared. I'm sorry for my language, but scared the [ __ ] out of me. Yeah, for sure. But I am in the end of the day. I'm glad I'm okay and no one was in the car. But yeah, at least I have insurance and pretty sure they have insurance on that range. Yeah, hopefully. Yeah. Well, I mean, you have insurance, so it'll be good. me. I'm fine either way. But well, your insurance is two. So, love that. Two of my wrecks were supposed to hit or drop off at the end of the month or end of the year. So, this is your third wreck? I mean, third major wreck. Goodness gracious. In the span of five years of driving, you got to slow down or something, huh? Well, my first wreck was the semi when I first got my license. Of course, it was my fault, but I mean genuinely, you know, when you just don't see somebody on the I mean, I hate saying it was on the highway, but it was on the highway. I saw the old Santi exit, so I was like, "Cool." And wasn't the exit, so I was like, "Oh." Tried to get back on and nope. So, obviously this time of night when we work a uh a wreck like this. And then reason I asked if you had anything to drink is because I can smell it. Um, of course, before before I cut you loose, I need to make sure that um alcohol didn't play any type of factor in in the accident. Um, if it's just a I wasn't paying attention, I was changing music and it's an accident, then ain't going to be no big deal. So, u what we'll do is I'm just going to have you step out. We'll go up here to the front of my car. Okay. And then, uh, I'll just tell you what we're going to do from there. Okay. Are you wearing contacts? You are. I am. I'm going to put my vape in here. That's fine. How old are you? 23. Exactly. You still have to still have to hide it. I get it. I'll just stand up here. So, I'm just going to explain to you what's going on. Um because she was leaving a bar and she did tell me she had a little bit to drink. I can smell a little bit of alcohol on her. Okay. Smell it, too. Yeah. Um the other officer over there is going to do some field sobriety tests with her. Okay. Um so, with that, I just I want to go ahead and explain to you that there is a possibility that she may go to jail, but not okay. Um, I'm not going to say 100% for sure until that officer makes his decision, but uh that's where we're at. I understand uh that's probably a little bit upsetting. Um, however, I just ask that you uh remain calm and I'm cool with you uh staying on scene and stuff. Just uh just uh relax. I asked her, I said, "I can smell alcohol." She said, "I, mom, I was the DD. I had one drink." Right. Well, she is uh fairly small in stature and you know one all it took. So that officer will do his investigation and uh we'll go from there. So yes, ma'am. I just I don't want to leave you in the dark. So I'm going to be over there. I'm going to wait to uh talk to these people and wake them up until he's done with uh his his part of it. Okay. Yes, ma'am. Right. All right. So now what we'll do is we're going to face this way here. We actually have a white line. Can you see that white line right there? All right. So what we're going to do is we're going to stand on that white line with your left foot. We'll take our right foot, place it in front of our left, heel to toe. Can you do that? And then you'll put your hands to your side. Okay. You can begin whenever you're ready. four. All right. So, this last one we'll do. The wind's out of this direction. So, we're going to face the wind so you don't get blown by it. Face. Nope. Face this way. Just face me. There you go. No. No. Face me. There you go. So, we'll stand with our feet together. Both of your hands to your side. This is called the starting position. I want you to stay just like that until I tell you to move. Do you understand? Yes, sir. Okay. You're going to look at that raised foot. Keep your hands to your side and count out loud. Okay, you can begin when you're ready. 100 1 2 100 39 Sorry, it's okay. 2011. Okay, you can stop. All right. Um, so you had you said you had one beer. One. That was it? Yes, sir. Nothing else beyond that. Okay. How big was it, do you think? Was it little one? Big size? 12 16 oz beer? 16 maybe. Okay. And you think um you said that was over two hours ago? Hour and a half. Two hours at the most. Okay. And you don't think that that's still on your on your breath or anything? Okay. Um I have a a PBT, which is like breath test. Would you be interested in doing that? Um give me just a second. All this will do is uh tell me if you have alcohol in your breath and it'll if there's zero alcohol then you know now I'm like ah it might be drugs it might be pills whatever on two. Okay so all this all this does I stick it on there and push down down. Yep. There we go. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Oh have to blow a little bit harder. Okay. Sorry, I took a breath in between. Yep. So, deep breath in and then blow out. Okay. Keep going. Good. Good. Nope. Now, you got to blow hard at the beginning and then stay at the same. Try it again. There you go. Yeah. Good. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. It's okay. So, deep breath in and just blow out. Okay. I have big lines. Sorry. Yeah. It's okay. Deep breath in and blow. Good. Keep going. Keep going. Don't let up. Don't let up. Don't let up. Keep going. Keep going. Oh, we were almost there. You want to try it one more time or no? Okay. Real deep breath. Good. Good. Good. Keep going. Keep going. It's not going to work. That's okay. She's got six in her eyes. I can smell the alcohol. And mom was like, I know. She's like, I can smell the alcohol on her, too. She was like, you know, I asked her and she told me she only had one drink and she was the designated driver tonight. I don't She could be telling mom that, you know. That's what she told me, too. She's like, I was the DD. It's like, okay, so you didn't have any output. What? But I'm also saying like she may not only be telling us that, hey, because we're the police, she might be telling mom that, too, because mom would be disappointed in you, you know, getting intoxicated. Yeah. So, here's the deal, okay? Based on looking at your eyes and then based off looking at the uh like your balance, dexterity, and movement, um um I do believe that you're under the influence of alcohol. Okay. And I do think that you are impaired and I think that had a a play in the accident. Okay. Unfortunately, I am going to place you under arrest for DWI right now. Okay. Yes, sir. So, I've got to put you in handcuffs and then I'll have you have a seat in my car. Would it be okay if I made sure I have everything I need in my bag? I mean, you can watch me. Like, I'm not going to Yes, sir. On your car. This is the one. I just want to make sure I have No, no, no. Not at all. Yeah, that's okay. I just want to make sure I have everything I need. And would it be okay if we told my mom? Of course. Yes. I've explained to your mom what's going on, how it Okay, that was from my car. If you want, really, all we need is your uh like your wallet, your license. I mean, I don't I don't have that with me. It's at home. Okay. Cuz usually it was right here, and I was going to get it for him, but you don't have to show it at Tap House. No. Okay. They know me. Um I like I said, I work right there, so I go there all the time. I mean, I'd rather take it with me. Okay. So, put your vape in there. Just one more time. No, not anymore. Right now, I don't know what's in there. You're good. I understand. All right. So, I'll take that. So, like I said, I've got to put you in handcuffs. Okay. Can you go to my mom before I go in the I'll let you talk to her in just a minute. Okay. I appreciate it. Have you ever been arrested? What for? Um, yeah. Okay. Will you please bring my mom over? Good. I'll let you talk to her. I appreciate it. Are you mom? All righty. Uh, so I am Officer Burton. Um, here's here's a screwdriver she had. Um, so she is showing signs of impairment. Um, I I do believe that she's under the influence of alcohol. Yeah, I can smell it. But she said she was the designated driver. That's what she told me, too. But based on So, without getting real deep in the weeds with you, Yeah. Uh, based on her eyes, I think that she's had more than one beer. I think she's had a relatively large amount of alcohol for her for her size, you know. Yeah. Um, so unfortunately I have to tell you that she is under arrest for DWI and I'm sorry. I'm sorry that we're in that position. Um, I just we just can't. Did she blow into that thing? She tried but she wasn't able to to do it. I don't know. She wasn't able to blow out enough. I don't know if that's because of her impairment or if it's just she was having trouble with it. I don't I don't know. So this is just based on eyes then her eyes and the other clues observed during the walk and turn and the one leg stand. So so we're going to go to the hospital. I'm going to have her checked out just because she was in a pretty serious wreck. I want to I want the doctor to make um and who takes her to the hospital? I'm going to Yes, ma'am. And she I told her we needed to get her hands cleaned up and she was like, "Well, I don't I don't want to clean my hands up." Well, she doesn't have a choice because she's with me. I'm going to make them clean her hands because she's got a pretty good cut. Um I want to make sure that that's clean, doesn't get infected or anything. Yeah, of course. Um and then from there, we'll go county and she'll have to be booked. Um they'll take her fingerprints and her picture and then she'll be able to call you from there. Okay. Do you want to talk to her at all? I I don't know what I would say to her. That's That's okay. I understand. I just figured I would I guess I should. I guess I should I just Did she have her purse? Yes, ma'am. Yeah, I know. When they called me, it was not on her phone. I said, "Where's your Yeah, she said her phone was somewhere in the car." Um, probably once they get it flipped over, I'll be able to So, will you allow me to if you want to? Yes, ma'am. I know it's a crappy situation for a parent to be in. She That's right. She said it's in the car somewhere. We're gonna have to hopefully get the insurance off of it. Okay. Just stay right there. Can I No. No. Just stay right there for me. Okay. I love you very much. Can you please come get me for work? Please. Baby, you're going to jail. Mom, I know. Please, can you call tomorrow, please? Mom, I'm going. Please don't act the cops. I'm not acting. I know. I know. Just devastated. I am too. I want drunk. I mean, I understand the smell on my breath. I get it. I get that 100%. But I'm not drunk. Like, but you didn't blow into the thing. I did. My lungs are bad because of vape. I'm not like 100%. Okay. All right. Mom. All right. Watch your foot, Mom. Yes. Talk to her in a little bit. One sec. What? Please. Please. Then then lower your voice. I will. I promise I'm not yelling. I'm not going to stand here and let you yell at your mama. I'm I promise I'm not yelling. I really am not. Okay. Be respectful, mama. Please. I You can call my boss tomorrow at 9:00. Tell her I'm sick. Please tell her I'm sick. She'll PTO it. Please, Mom. Please. Yes. You'll be able to call her here in a little bit. Okay. Okay. Thank you. I appreciate it. I love you, Mom. Be good. Be respectful. She's She's been respectful. I'm glad. But in order for her, you know how you don't know anything unless you have your phone. So, I will find her phone and make sure that it it goes with them. So, so at this point, what do I do? Do I just go home? Yeah. Um he's going to finish his investigation and I'm going to uh get get her car by chance. No, I have not. Um I'm just going to get your information just so I can put in a report that that you were here um and all that. So her vehicle unfortunately um since she is being arrested and it's also turned upside down um I am going to have to impound it. Okay. So it's going to go to T- Miller. It'll be at the T- Miller uh towing yard. No, like I said, they're they're going to have to come regardless. It's not like it's, you know, just sitting on in the middle of the road. That'd be one thing, but is there anything I can do to get her out? Oh, tonight? No. No. So, she's going to uh that officer is going to finish investigation and then eventually she will be booked in Potter County. Okay. County Jail. And she'll have to talk to a judge judge in the morning. So, Okay. Well, here's the deal. If we don't find the phone and if she doesn't give me consent to find said insurance, I have no way to give these people insurance. So, if not, I'm sure traffic could figure out a way to get it to them later. I don't even know how to where to start digging. This thing's not going to fall on me, is it? No. Hey, I'm not a fireman. I don't I don't do this kind of stuff. Yep. Okay. I put all that in the call notes for you. [Music] Might have been her phone. Her phone's got to be close somewhere. All right, let me see it. Why? I I'd rather I don't want to go. I don't have the money to go. Please, I'd rather No, no, no. So, I don't have the money. I'm not going to pay for it. Okay, listen to me. Okay. I don't know why you're getting so upset. Well, I didn't say anything because you were yelling at me. I'm sorry. I just don't want to go to the hospital. Okay. So, you're with me for one. I have to make sure that you're medically cleared because you are in a wreck, but because you're with me, you don't have to. I mean, the city's going to pay for it. Swear. Yeah. 100 like,00%. I don't have to pay for I've never heard of anyone having to pay. Yep. Sorry. I know it's expensive. Hello. Sorry to wake you. It's okay. Do you own this Land Rover out front? Range Rover. Okay. Um would you mind coming out here? I mean, you can put some jacket on if you want to. Okay. Sorry. Thank you. So, to Officer Brown, just to explain uh what's going on. Um a lady was driving her vehicle and hit your Land Rover. Oh. and flipped her car. Oh my god. Um, she's okay. However, uh, she was arrested for DWI. And so, uh, I would just like to get, uh, you identified for the report. And she said she has insurance where her mother showed up. Her mother said that she does have insurance. It's she said she thought through some company called insurance. Um, however, I can't pull it up on my computer, and I'm sure it's one of those you can pull up on your phone, but we can't find our phone right now. And if you want your car towed tonight, um, I will leave that up to you. Technically, it's for the most part out of the roadway. Want to make arrangements to have it towed later, you can, but if you would like for me to call you a tow truck tonight, I can. Yeah, she's okay. Can I get your last name? Yes. Yeah. Like I said, uh it's it's out of the roadway for the most part. Obviously, it's a little bit up on the sidewalk and you might even be able to move it just a little bit to where it's off the sidewalk and you can wait until the morning time to call your insurance company. Yeah. And if before you move it, um and you can you can go ahead and take photos, but I am going to take some photos as well, too. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Yes, ma'am. Yellow. Hey, buddy. Hey. Um, so we got her car. Um, I found her phone in the driver's floorboard. Oddly enough, Apple sent her a notification saying that she'd been in a crash at 114. Um, does do you want me to bring it out there? Nah, you're good. I'll meet you out there. All right. All right. Bye. She was charged with public intoxication in the first incident and DUI in the second. These aren't her only incidents. The link to part one is in the description.
