if cops are so brave why are they always going after and attacking people who are weaker than them seems to me that's not an act of bravery but of cowardice here's the deal [Music] [Applause] fox 13 news report that came out on january 27th but it's still relevant we're going to read some of the article right here in a second officer fired after taking things too far while arresting a man in a wheelchair how many times we have to see something like this to realize there's a problem with law enforcers saint pete's police chief says a former officer took it too far when a wheelchair-bound man didn't want to go to jail this should not be your first option this isn't your first option and that's what he did he made this his first option dude you got a warrant for your arrest let's go back to june and if it wasn't filmed we let him get away with it but now that it's out in the public and we're getting a whole lot of calls into our office now we're gonna hold up that taser and go this should not be the first option this is unacceptable we're gonna go ahead and fire the officer cause you caught us when the manager of a convenience store called police and wanted 64-year-old timothy grant removed from the property because he was panhandling officer matthew cavender who had barely been on the job with the department for a year came and when he realized grant had five warrants he tried to arrest him now i want to know what those warrants are for let's ask a couple questions here okay so the guy was on the property the private property panhandling the owner of the property didn't or the manager didn't want the guy panhandling so why not just deal with it yourself why not just go out to the guy with the wheelchair and go hey look we don't want you panhandling here first of all panhandling is not a crime asking for people for money they don't have to give it he's not victimizing anybody you know if he did i i haven't heard that part but why doesn't the owner of the property just say hey i need you to leave that's it and then just deal with it himself instead of calling badged uniformed armed tyrants because when you add when you sprinkle the flavor of the state on that little sundae it ain't going to help the flavor it's actually going to make it worse i still can't so the guy so the guy has five warrants but what are the warrants for well we're gonna find that out in a second i cannot explain to you why that also went to his taser there was a struggle and when he was on the ground chief holloway says grant tased the man who was not being violent four times the chief says this use of force was uncalled for we had a process in place the command staff looked at this tape looked at the report saw what the officer did and took it right to the ultra professional standard like they're supposed to be it's almost like it's almost like some of these cops are driving around going man i cannot wait for the first time i use my taser i really want to put somebody in some serious pain i cannot wait to exercise my state sanctioned power and officer cavender is now fired chief holloway says he also charged mr grant with resisting with violence but the chief says that's wrong and the charge has been reduced to resisting without violence so the cop lied imagine my surprise grant's 85 year old mother says she's happy to learn that that officer is now out of a job after they just have been done yes goodness to see him wait wait justice has been done because a man with a costume got fired for abusing a 65 year old man in a wheelchair 64 or however however old the guy is if you and i inflicted pain on anybody let alone a 64 year old man in a wheelchair we wouldn't just lose our jobs we would lose our freedoms we'd be thrown in jail and we'd have to pay these huge fines but this guy just lost his job and probably retains his certification law enforcement certification so he can go into another county or another state and resume his law enforcement profession or career down on the ground and they're taking him like that mr grant is currently mr grant is currently in prison on an unrelated case officer cavender could not be reached for comment kelly this case has been turned over to the florida department of law enforcement for more review back to you we're gonna the police will investigate the police and we'll get back to you and let you know well the police really didn't do anything wrong it wasn't a training issue we just basically had a rogue cop because you know that there's there's a bad apple in every single barrel and that's all you're seeing right here is you're seeing the two percent of bad cops giving the 98 percent of good cops a bad name that's usually how they that's usually how it goes down st petersburg officer was fired after quickly turning to his stun gun rather than following the de-escalation protocol the chief announced on thursday investigators said the officer used it while the suspect was quote not physically resisting but then later wrote in his report that the suspect was resisting with violence so basically the cop cavender matthew officer matthew cavender didn't just lie with his lips he actually thought about it and wrote down the lie oh yeah he was he was resisting with violence liar if you're gonna lie about that and put it in writing and sign your name to it what kind of person are you back on june 10th 2021 the owner of the chevron gas station made a trespassing request due to a panhandler at the store officer matthew cavender and his partner arrived at before 5 p.m and found the 64 year old timothy grant now apparently he's in a wheelchair but he can walk some so the wheelchair might you know help him in his panhandling gain sympathy from somebody so he can make more money who knows who knows but the point is in this thing right here he wasn't committing a crime and all the guy at the gas station had to do instead of bringing badged armed thin blue line gang members to the scene is hey hey uh sir you gotta leave we can't have you panhandling here you're really interrupting our business can you imagine a man calling another man to solve his problems they ran his name and learned he had five active warrants one of which was get this guys this is horrible failing to appear in court i wonder if fox 13 picked the worst of the five reasons they had an active warrant usually that's what they do well i want to know what the other four were one of which was for failing to appear in court oh this guy's bad news man he failed to appear before the black robe tyrant of the court the police department released body cam footage from the second officer at the scene showing cavender explained those previous charges as being drug related oh no was he forcing drugs onto somebody else was he holding a people at gunpoint so that he could sell his drugs it was they were drug related oh no so so if you're not you're telling me on american soil you're not free to buy sell trade or ingest drugs without having some kind of active warrant against you sounds like nine non-violent non-criminal charges to me the officers did see grant walking around behind the business walking around the business but when it came time to arrest him he was seated in a wheelchair in the video both officers were seen attempting to lift grant out of the wheelchair at one point footage shows grant laying on his stomach in front of the convenience store instead of using both of his hands he went right to his taser said the chief and he started tasering mr grant yeah that's uh that's that's that's just excessive use of force man in my opinion for what no crime there was no victim he didn't steal from anybody he didn't harm somebody he didn't damage somebody's property without paying for it didn't look like he was being belligerent just asking for people for money hey i need i need some money so i can do drugs not a crime all right so leave your thoughts about that for the world negligible thought please say in the comment section below if you haven't done so already subscribe to the channel hit the bell notification icon give it a thumbs up share
