do you want to walk us to walk you out or you want to walk yourself out no you're not please yes we are yes no you're not your security I'm not giving you anything no identify yourself under arrest okay so what's your name none of your business all right then you're under arrest go ahead put your hands behind your back I didn't see your beds okay well we told you right I don't have badges yeah welcome back to the lackluster Channel in August of 2022 a man named Matthew was attempting to pay for a bicycle Matthew is disabled and while he could transport and function on his own some tasks took him longer than others but customers and employees alike at the Target grew weary of Matthew holding up the line at one of their many self-checkout kiosks but instead of helping the man they called 9-1-1 and shortly after officer skeens arrived with his fellow henchmen Instagram please money let's walk out okay good stop stop I'm done I'm pretty please just put your money down okay okay you're coming with us now okay you took too long go ahead and pick your money up yeah do you want to walk us to walk you out or you want to walk yourself [Music] officer skeens appears to have lost his patience and compassion well before arriving on scene and declares that they are going to identify Matthew and issue a criminal trespass but in New Mexico a criminal trespass can only be issued if a person knowingly remains on private property and requires Criminal Intent it is always assumed that you are allowed to enter private property if posted hours declare when it is open for business to the general public and none of the target employees had asked Matthew to leave in some cities the police have agreements with local stores to act on behalf of the business and issue a trespass warning but even if the officers had the authority to tell a patron that they were being asked to leave the person must be given and ample time to do so however officer skeens appears to have skipped that part and forcibly rushed Matthew out of the store I was just getting in my money I don't think anymore Matthew was not aware that the men were officers and instead thought they were security guards and as the men began to take his money fearing he was being robbed he tells them that he's calling 9-1-1 it's okay back Wards [Music] after forcibly dragging him from the store the officers begin to ask him for his ID though they have no lawful authority to demand it let alone the battery they committed while bringing him outside Matthew appears to understand his fourth amendment rights and their effect on his right to privacy from the intrusive State agents identify yourself under arrest okay which is going to be you know please yes we are yes but his refusal to provide ID infuriates the law enforcers who ironically appeared to have no understanding of the laws they're attempting to enforce Matthew continues to attempt to call 9-1-1 as the officers needlessly escalate to the encounter one that's what he said anyway [Music] as Matthew attempts to describe his situation to the dispatcher the three officers Place him under arrest by forcing his head towards the concrete eventually one of the officers takes Matthew's phone and speaks to dispatch police he is under arrest okay are you gonna identify yourself sir for concealing identity I told you I was with the police department okay that's your own fault so now you're going to be charged okay resisting officers okay and you're going to be trespassed so you can never come back here again okay yeah yes we told you that already I didn't see your beds okay well we told you right yeah I thought you didn't look man the video ends there but it is plenty enough to show the horrific lack of anything human in any of these three officers worse yet is that it took nearly a year for anything to move forward with this incident first Matthew's charges were dropped but it's unclear if Target continues to Bar him from their property 11 months later the New Mexico attorney general finally filed charges against officer Kenneth skeins for his role in the unlawful arrest of a customer with disabilities in a press release he added that rather than acting as a professional public servant and a guardian of vulnerable members of his community Mr skeens engaged in abusive and unlawful behavior that undermined Public Safety and violated his oath as a peace officer in the state of New Mexico the AG filed four charges against him including false report and Battery but I think James Freeman had the ultimate take on this incident a lot of people are talking about this video but I feel like they're all missing a really important part of this story in the video the police officers are accused of using excessive force while trespassing a man from a Target and one of the police officers is even facing criminal charges for the incident now but everyone's talking about what the police did wrong and yes they were wrong but what about all the store employees and the customers there was the store employees that called the police on this man to have him trespass because he was taking too long to check out on the body cam we can clearly see that this man has some mental deficiencies but instead of a store employee or even a customer realizing that he's having problems and choosing to help him everybody decides to call the police and let the police beat the out of him on top of all that this wasn't the first time skeens was on the hot seat for his actions officer you heard in the video was also one of three officers involved in the fatal shooting of Keyshawn Thomas at a gas station that same month in August of 2022. an internal investigation of that shooting found that officer skeins failed to de-escalate the situation and highlighted his failure to attempt life-saving treatments this is especially disgusting considering that most officers have been trained in basic life-saving techniques carrying not only a med bag in their Cruiser but a combat application tourniquet on their person as well furthermore skeens told the other officers that he saw Thomas with a gun in his hand despite the fact that it was impossible for him to see the suspect's actions based on his location and for that after the murder he was only issued a verbal warning and an eight-hour suspension but now after assaulting Matthew he was finally fired there is no word whether the other two officers on scene who had an equally disturbing level of involvement were disciplined as the AG does not intend to file charges against them noting that skeens was in charge during the encounter with Matthew but in no way should that minimize their involvement after all Carly Manson's minions were imprisoned though he was the declared ringleader but I forgot these men are cops the laws don't apply equally to the ruling class and their enforcement arm let me know what you think about it in the comments in a perfect
