David Hogg was calling for people to read this article by CNN he says everyone should read this op-ed by NRA member former gun salesman and AR-15 owner D.C police officer Michael Fanon on why we need to ban the sale of weapons like the AR-15 why we need to do this that's that's what David Hogg's going to tell us Listen to I want to show you this I read this article and what's ludicrous because he's calling the reason people want to buy AR-15s ludicrous but he actually makes some very very ludicrous comments in this article it's pretty laughable and he writes no weapon has been more in the public eye in America of late than the AR-15 in large part because of its tragic role in some of this country's deadliest shootings the AR-15 has the dubious distinction of being America's most popular semi-automatic rifle I'm more familiar with the gun than most people I own one and one thing I know for sure is that this weapon doesn't belong in the hands of the average civilian so he's going to use his expertise and his background as a federal agent of the state to tell the world that there are certain Americans most of them don't deserve to have an AR-15 I've owned multiple firearms for most of my life I spent two decades in the Washington metropolitan police department corruption and a number of different roles as a street cop corruption walking the beat and on various special Mission units I'm also a card-carrying member of the National Rifle Association and when I wasn't at my job doing police work I worked part-time for several years in firearm sales as well as training Law Enforcement Officers members of the military and civilians I purchased my diff different guns over the years for the same reason that you might purchase a flathead screwdriver along with a Phillips screwdriver each one serves different purposes as an avid Hunter I've got a gun that I use for turkey hunting one that I use for waterfowl and one I use to hunt deer and larger game like elk now here's where the hypocrisy comes in and the inconsistency and the contradiction I've sold guns at big box retailers and I've also sold Firearms at small retail gun stores some gun buyers have been misled into thinking that the AR-15 is somehow practical for self-defense now remember that statement some gun buyers have been misled into thinking that the AR-15 is somehow I don't know where they got this idea practical for self-defense but frankly it's the last gun that I would recommend for that purpose here's where the hypocrisy comes in and the contradiction and the inconsistency some members of the tinfoil hat Brigade have come up with the reply we need these weapons because we want to be effective against the government if it becomes tyrannical that's part of our Second Amendment right and then he says personally I think that's ludicrous but it has become an increasingly popular justification for purchasing a semi-automatic rifle and then check this out the AR-15 was given to law enforcement because more and more frequently police officers were encountering these types of weapons on the street and finding out that they were out gunned and then he he shows one example that Springs to mind is the famous 1997 North Hollywood California shootout at Bank of America so the guys who were involved in the shootout and caused the shootout at the Bank of America in 1997 in North Hollywood were using these long rifles these AR-15s to repel against the cops who are trying to stop them but the cops couldn't stop the people with the AR-15 style assault rifle so they had to go to he's going to say that they had to go to a gun shop to go get fire powers so that they could actually bring these down but this gun isn't it's ludicrous for anybody to say that they would use this as a home defense weapon so it's not good to use it as a home defense weapon but it is good enough to to repel an entire North Hollywood police force and outgun them how does that make any sense at all that's the con the inconsistency the contradiction the hypocrisy that's rattling around in this guy's noodle in that incident two individuals clad and body armor held up a bank in law the Los Angeles neighborhood police who responded to the scene literally had to run to a nearby gun store to purchase more powerful weapons because they were using nine millimeter pistols while the bad guys were armed with semi-automatic rifles but that same semi-automatic rifle is not it's the last gun that I would choose you can repel an entire Army but you can't defend your house with it the standoff was one of the most infamous gun battles in American history with 11 officers wounded luckily he says not fatally and both robbery suspects shot dead while it's an extreme example it is in many ways the situation encountered by officers all across the country police simply are outgunned against semi and fully automatic Firearms to which some people might say that's why I want one the reason I just gave that you called not legitimate or justifiable and ludicrous that I would even consider using it as a home defense weapon you're actually saying is powerful enough to take down cops who have similar weapons the bullet that comes out of the barrel of an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle can easily penetrate the target the Intruder or whatever person you're using deadly forced to defend yourself and others from but it also will go through the wall behind that person and potentially through the room and into the next wall that power and accuracy are useful for military purposes which is obviously what they were designed for but it's far more power than should ever be in the hands of the average citizen this is what David Hogg wants you to know this is the op-ed that David Hogg wants you to read from a gun owner from an NRA member from a a former police officer listen to this this guy's saying that you shouldn't have an AR-15 it shouldn't be in the hands of civilians it should be banned and the people who own it should be criminalized now I don't have anything personal against David Hogg he is probably outside of beta male O'Rourke when he said on the debate stage hell yeah we're gonna take your AR-15s your AK-47s David Hogg next to Beto O'Rourke is probably one of the greatest gun salesmen in this decade at least because when he speaks people are like oh boy they're going to try to make some more laws to better go out and get some more guns get some more ammo the bullet fired by the AR-15 is capable of defeating the average police officer's body armor Like a Knife slicing through butter and some like I said some people would say yeah that's exactly why I want one SWAT teams and some of the more specialized units typically are equipped with Kevlar level four Kevlar or steel plated armor which would stop maybe two or three direct hits but eventually body armor breaks down after being hit with multiple rounds a person wielding an air 15 has a range Beyond 300 yards for an officer armed with a nine millimeter pistol hitting a Target Beyond 50 yards is going to be difficult even for the most accomplished Marksman a bullet fired by an air 15 travels at three times the velocity is one fired by a nine millimeter handgun the magazines that can feed dozens of rounds into the weapon in the space of minutes clearly were meant for use only only on the battlefield then he says the prevalence of these weapons means police sometimes are overmatched as we saw with the mass shooting and you've already texted the Uvalde Texas cops cops weren't outmatched or overmatched they were cowards we need to really get that straight right now in a situation where you have small children near the shooter you want to remove the threat as quickly as possible and that's why civilians should have them that's why it's probably it would probably be a good idea for teachers to have them and train with them but we all saw the tragic consequences at that elementary school where police waited for more than an hour before engaging with the team gunman armed with the air 15 who killed 19 young children and two teachers I have no doubt that police and you've already wished they had had weapons as powerful as the one carried by the shooter who snuffed out the lives of the victims they did have those weapons what's this guy talking about they had those weapons when they first got there they have those weapons and their patrol Cruisers Banning these powerful weapons from the civilian Marketplace is a no-brainer as our Universal background checks neither move is going to solve all gun problems that we have but it'd be a start trampling on the second member rights of Americans that I swore to protect and defend that would be a good start and outlawing these AR-15s would not require confiscating them from people who already had them once you've made these weapons illegal anyone found with one would be subject to arrest since possession of these weapons would be a crime so when we're talking about a gun law which would Institute a ban you are talking about criminalizing innocent gun owners who happen to own the firearm that David Hogg and the David Hogs of the world are scared of and when you criminal and how are you gonna like I said at the beginning of this how are you going to enforce those laws you're going to enforce it at the barrel of a gun which means to enact these laws you need to Institute government sanctioned gun violence as you claim to be against gun violence and it's against innocent people you're not going after criminals you're creating criminals out of innocent people by using these laws that the David Hogs of the world want to Institute I think it's likely that you would see a lot of people opting to turn them in because we're going to force them with the barrel of a gun to turn them in because now we're going to call them a criminal if banning them outright seems like it's too extreme a solution to be politically palatable here's another option reclassify semi-automatic rifles as class 3 firearms but I just want to bring your attention to the hypocrisy and the inconsistency and the convoluted mentality of people who are actually claiming that they are against gun violence when actually their call calling for government sanction gun violence against innocent gun owners who happen
