next time we'll ask you for your id you have to give it to you because you have to identify yourself it is the law you have to identify look it up am i being detained okay you're not being thinking man i don't need to identify myself you come on your cop you know this stuff just like i do welcome back to the lackluster channel today's story was submitted by steve sally who in september of 2021 was pulled over by officer gonzalez of the east cocalico township police department for expired inspection stickers the only issue was that the inspection stickers were in-date and valid but the officer asked for steve's id anyway aware of his right to be secure in his person papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures steve declined the officer's request the officer asked steve to stay put and returned to his vehicle which is where the video recording begins all right so i just got pulled over um the cop is saying that he thinks my he thought that my um inspection stickers are up which they're not he uh just realized that they are not he still asked for my license and i told him no because there's no probable cause for me to be stopped um so he asked if i have a driver's license i told him yes and he told me to sit tight he's back at his car so this is an illegal detainment because i'm not allowed to leave so uh i guess we'll see how this goes just a few moments later officer gonzalez returns you know alejandro next time we ask you for your id you have to give it to you because you have to identify yourself with me listen to me i don't care if you record me it doesn't affect me this is for myself okay did you have to identify yourself is that the law listen it is the law you have to identify look it up look i know the law i know the law she can look it up look it up right now listen to me i'm not you i'm not here to argue with you it might be entertaining okay you're not being thinking man i don't need to identify myself you you you have i have to know that you have a license no you don't you pull everyone over there check that they have a license have a good day i know the law can i have your name about homework here it is sir uh gonzales what's your badge number yeah i don't have a do you have a personal number 78-62 i mean uh 6 12. okay thank you have a good day cool i'll be finally reporting okay do that listen to me the reason i stopped you again is because i thought you were and i understand that and you should have apologized into this and i do apologize okay so there's no need for you to ask for my identification because there's no probable cause for the stop right come on your cop you know the stuff just like i do i said i i said i thought you had an experience all right have a good day i'm free to go yes sir goodbye yeah the requirements that an officer needs to meet to order someone to identify can vary from state to state however all states require some sort of reasonable articulable suspicion or probable cause to force an identification and an officer of the law believing that he has the authority to identify anyone he wishes without cause is wholesomely unamerican incidents like this not only show the disconnect between the public and law enforcement but the disconnect between law enforcement the law and the basic concepts of individual liberty one man thinking he can forcibly identify another for absolutely no reason other than the fact that they work for the state is 100 tyranny and these tiny moments of arbitrary use of power or control or what erode our personal freedoms every time someone just complies with an unlawful order is another affirmation to the officer that they can and should be able to violate your fourth amendment rights i applaud steve for standing up for his because the only one that can fight for your freedom is yourself steve's channel will be linked below i highly encourage you to head over there and let him know i sent you thanks for watching if you have a video you'd like me to review email it or send it in via facebook messenger you can also view this and other content on my website if you're new here subscribe for future content if you've been around for a while remember to like share and comment down below of what you think of this interaction shirts and other goodies are available at the teespring store linked below channel membership start at just a buck if you'd like to further support the channel and get a slick lack logo next to your name i'll see you in the next video all links are down below you
