Welcome back to the Lackluster channel. On Mother's Day in 2025, Bashari, her aunt, grandmother, and several children plan to do some shopping at a Walmart. Footage from Walmart security shows a vehicle pulled to the front of the store to wait for the first handicap spot. But when the car doesn't move, the driver decides to park in one of the other available spots. Roughly 15 seconds later, Officer Peret of the Senitobia Police Department pulls up and parks in the handicap parking zone, leaving the tail of the unmarked cruiser exposed in the lane without emergency lights or tones. 30 seconds after Bashari parks, Officer Peret knocks on her window. Before Officer Per makes Bashari get out of her vehicle, I'd like to thank today's sponsor. Have you ever seen two completely different headlines about the same event? We're currently drowning in information, and most of it is filtered through biased lenses and clickbait. And if you're watching this channel, you already know how important it is to question the narrative, which is why Ground News has been one of the longest sponsors of this channel, an ad-free platform that lets you see how stories are being reported across the political spectrum. You can compare headlines, check source bias, and even see what stories are being ignored by the side you usually read. Let me show you an example of a case I'm following. Ground News pulls in over a dozen different sources for this one incident. And look how differently they frame the same facts. The Boston Herald on the right focuses how the officers were frustrated when they fatally beat Tyrie Nichols, while News One on the left says that one of the ex cops regrets not stopping the Tyreek Nichols beating. With ground news, you'll see the bias rating of each source. Access the blind spot feed to find stories the mainstream is missing and even track your own reading habits with the My News bias dashboard. So, if you want to break out of the echo chamber and make your own informed decisions, click the link in my description or head to groundnews.com/lackluster. And for a limited time only, you'll get 40% off the Vantage plan. That link supports the channel and gets you unlimited access with no ads ever. The media has an agenda. Subsection 9 of the code approves the use of handicap spaces when vehicles have immediately before or after using a spot transports a person with a disability. Officer Peret appears to have acted solely on an assumption without confirming any facts before detaining Bashari. The officer seemingly presumed either A, Bashari was not disabled herself or B that she was not operating the vehicle in service of a disabled individual, such as by dropping them off or picking them up. And without direct knowledge of Bashari's medical status or personally witnessing her park and leave the vehicle without a handicapped passenger, officer Peret lacked reasonable suspicion to initiate a detention. Furthermore, the absence of firstirhand observation or evidence would also preclude any establishment of probable cause necessary for the citation or Bashari's arrest. Later, as a sergeant attempted to deescalate the situation, Bashari's grandmother arrived. In body cam footage edited and released by the department, the video shows her arriving in a separate vehicle. However, the selective editing deliberately omits the possibility that the grandmother had already been dropped off by Bashari or that she was waiting to pick up her grandmother. And the department's presentation misleads the viewer by failing to acknowledge that arriving in another car does not disprove Bashari's compliance with handicap placard usage rules. I'm sorry. It's over. Okay, explain to me what happened on the vehicle. I see your parked here in the handicap. So, what happened? My son is handicapped and my grandmother is but we was in there. My grandma was in the store but my auntie was driving her car for her and I was trying to I was trying to what? I was trying to just be in and wait for that spot to get open so I could pull over there cuz my grandma wasn't in the car and then she came to my door and she tapped on the door and then I let the woman down. I was just trying to see what she what and she said she she was up there finding reasons to me and then she asked for my ID and I said I haven't done nothing. I said but I said with me just being here just sitting here we weren't even out the car. We was just sitting here. I was trying to get my children to calm down. My son was hollering and I was trying to wait for an open parking spot and I told her I said I'll move. It's not this serious. I said I'm sorry I'll move. And then she said give me your ID. And I told her, I said, "I haven't done nothing." And she kept on egging at me. And then when I gave her the ID, she told me get out the car, but I haven't done nothing. And I asked for a sergeant multiple times and she didn't she waited until she threw me out the ground. She grabbed me out of my car. I wasn't doing my hands were on the steering wheel. I didn't reach for nothing. I don't even have nothing in my car. After the edited videos end, the vehicle is towed and Miss Bashari is taken to jail. She was then charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and a parking citation. While researching this incident, it was apparent that nearly all mainstream media reports neglected to include that Bashar's grandmother appeared at the scene. My grandmother right there. That's what I kept telling him. My grandmother is right there with the pink hat on. Her name is on the sticker. She's right there. I haven't done [ __ ] wrong. Okay, I'm going to go I'm going to go talk to her. My grandmama is right there. And she kept finding a reason to [ __ ] with me and she pulled me out my car in front of my children. What I want you to do, go ahead and sit on in the car. I'm going to go talk to her and see what's going on. Okay. My grandma, I told her multiple times, my grandmama is right there. My grandma right here. Why would I laugh at my grandma not? But more importantly, they ignored the broader constitutional violations. The initial detention, arrest, and charges levied against Miss Bashari were not only baseless, but fundamentally unconstitutional and an embarrassment to the Sentopia police. But instead of correcting course, the department doubled down via posts on Facebook. The department's narrative conveniently leaves out key facts. First, Miss Bashari was not ordered to exit her vehicle until after she provided her identification. And that command came only after she exercised her first amendment right to question the officer's authority and use foul language. You mess with me for no reason. I got my kids in here. I do not feel safe with you doing it. There's And you're you're escalating this. You're doing this. Come on, man. Come on. Come on. Do what you got to do. Step out of here. Please step out of here. The department then falsely claims that Miss Bashari refused to obey a lawful order. Yet, under Pennsylvania v. Mims. Any such order is only lawful if the underlying traffic stop itself is lawful. The department's post concludes without ever acknowledging the truth. Instead, they gaslight the public, obscuring facts in a calculated attempt to shift blame and secure conviction in the court of public opinion. Are y'all with her? No. I get her over here. I right over here to walk over to the car. She was her ID out her hand and she acting I wasn't on so I don't know. I'm trying to say nothing happened. What's going on? Cuz she parked right here. She got the handicap sticker and she trying to park close the kid. That's why she got the sticker for the woman came up to the car and uh were asking her for her ID and she was she was trying to tell her then she got the handicap sticker. She was just trying to park close to the thing and then they just kept going back and forth to see the hotel her step out the car showers trying to get her hot ID. 3 days later the department trickled down releasing the incomplete video clips. One of which finally shows the grandmother arriving at the scene after the unlawful arrest. But once again they emit critical context. They failed to release Walmart surveillance footage showing Bashari pulling into the parking lot to disprove whether Bashari dropped off her grandmother at the opposite end or not. Last, the department failed to issue an apology to Miss Bashari with a notice that all charges will be dropped and an apology to the public for their extensive manipulation of the facts. All to incarcerate a woman for doing her grandmother a favor on Mother's Day. The department has turned off comments to their posts. And it's not because they love America and the right to free speech. Unfortunately, it's the opposite. Their actions seem to betray a fear of accountability and a rejection of the very freedoms they claim to uphold. Let me know what you think of this interaction in the comments down below. And be sure to check out Ground News. Their link is in the pinned comment and description. And as always, if you like this video, be sure to check out another one linked on screen. [Music]
