I don't know what the hell's going on here. >> You really don't know what the hell's going on. >> I was just legit saw him trying to stop stick me and I was like, "What the hell?" And I just pulled over. >> This is Flagler County Sheriff's Office Detective Ardit Coma from the Major Case Unit. And this cop knows Ardit very well from the police academy. Says he's a good dude. >> I know him very very well. He's one of actually He's He's a good dude. >> Detective Ardit Coma is a good dude. So good in fact that while his rights are being read, he can't even hide his Cheshire cat grin because he knows he's above his own laws. >> Good. You have the right to remain silent and anything you say may be used as evidence against you. You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him or her with you now or at any time during questioning. >> But if he's a detective, why's he handcuffed in the back of a patrol car? And why are they reading him his rights? On December [snorts] 4th, 2025, an Ormond Beach Police Department sergeant attempted to stop a vehicle traveling 88 mph on US1. According to the sergeant, he activated his lights and sirens, but the vehicle kept going for roughly 2 miles. While other traffic yielded, the car he was chasing sped up, drove around yielded cars, and went around stop sticks before finally pulling over. When officers conducted a felony stop at gunpoint, the driver was identified as Flagler County Sheriff's Office Detective from the Major Case Unit, Ardit Coma. You're going to want to stay tuned to the end of the video because there is a major twist. >> All right here. They're going to punch you. >> Vehicle in Ormond. >> PUT YOUR HANDS UP! PUT YOUR HANDS OUT THE WINDOW NOW! KEEP YOUR HANDS UP. HANDS UP. HEY, you got commands? DRIVER, OPEN THE DOOR WITH YOUR LEFT HAND. Step out of the car. KEEP YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR. Turn around. Back up. Stop. Get down on your knees. Get down on your knees. >> That's a sheriff's detective. Just let it sink in. It's a sheriff's detective on his knees about to be cuffed by fellow officers from another county. Put them on nice and tight like you do to us. >> No more. What's going on? Wow. What What is happening? >> Is there anybody else in the car? >> No. My wife's on it. >> Wouldn't that be great if that service weapon just accidentally discharged? >> Dummy. >> What is going on? >> You're under arrest. That's what's going on. >> He's genuinely befuddled because he probably drives like this all the time. >> For what? >> Fleeing and eluding. >> Fleeing and eluding? >> Yeah. >> When did that happen? >> Can you check him? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, yeah. All right, cool. Uh I was in the academy with him. >> He's probably with the deputy. >> Okay. >> Copy that. >> Well, he's under arrest today. >> Yep. >> I went to the That's how they taught us to drive in the academy. >> I went to the academy with him. Do you want me to hang out here? >> No. >> We'll talk about it on the way in. >> Yeah. >> Can I bring my phone? >> That's a uh county car? >> Can I have a fire extinguisher? >> Okay. All right. >> I don't know what the hell's going on here. >> Yeah. No, I just went legit. I would just legit saw him was to stop sticking me and I was like, "What the hell?" And I just pulled over. >> No way. >> Yeah, so I have I have no idea what's going on. >> Okay. All right, we'll get it all figured out. >> Okay. >> Hey, what's his name? >> RD Coma. >> RD Coma. Well, >> Yeah. >> Uh You may have to take him. Cuz it's they know each other. They went to the academy together. >> I know him very, very well. He's one of my actually He's a good dude. >> He's a good He's just a good dude. He's like us. We're all good apples, right? >> Well, I don't know what this is all about. But I'm just >> Yeah, um US 1 on the Tomoka River Bridge or more like Airport 1. 88. 88. >> And this cop's like, "88? I do that all the time. You do, too." And that's what this detective is thinking. It's like, "What What are you guys doing? We all drive like this. Every single one of us. You're going to hypocritically pull me over, though?" Wait, there's a twist at the end. >> Just lights and sirens? Whole way. >> Run red light or anything? >> No, but wasn't stopping. And then got into the right lane and just accelerated. Hey. Hey. >> All right. >> Yeah. I don't know why he put me in that situation. >> Who is it? >> Yeah, so He's going today. >> You got it. >> He's got um I don't know if he's like a detective or something. He's got his gun, his ID. >> Who is it? >> He's popping his knuckles. This guy's nervous cuz he's like, "Man, I just I arrested one of our own." And that's just something you don't do. >> I would detect him if you catch it. >> Look at this guy's face. He's like, "Oh, boy. Yeah, this Don't you think that was a little hypocritical? You know you speed, I know I speed, we go through red lights all the time, we're constantly operating above our own law, but you pulled a guy over for doing the same thing we do all the time. >> Can I call the chief? >> I'm I'm already waiting on I'm going to call better up there. >> I'll call him. It is what it is, man. >> It It is. It really is. You know, and it wasn't even like it was a Oops, I didn't see you because all the other cars got off the road and he was driving around all of them 88 miles an hour. >> Did you talk to him yet? >> No. I ain't got nothing to say to him. >> All right. >> He put me in this situation. >> No, I know. I just didn't know if >> That's irritating. He didn't turn his lights on or nothing. What's up, man? All right, I'm sorry to run in with you. I'm with the Orange Beach Police Department, okay? >> How are you? >> Good. You have the right to remain silent and anything you say may be used as evidence against you. >> Watch his face while he's being read his rights. He knows nothing's going to stick. Nothing. >> You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him or her with you now or during any time during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you. If at any time you wish to stop talking or having an attorney present, all questioning will be stopped at your request. Do you understand these rights? >> I understand. >> With your rights in mind, are you willing to speak to me? Yeah. Okay. So, >> What a dumbass. You know you're not supposed to speed. Just be quiet. You know that when you pull somebody over or you start conducting investigation, the best thing they can do is not talk to you, but you're going to talk to this cop? >> I'm heading south on US1. You're heading north on US1 >> Yeah. >> in the uh 800 block there and you're traveling 88 miles an hour. So, I turn around and I'm going to conduct a traffic stop on you. >> He's like, I do that all the We all do that all the time, every one of us. What do you That's the big deal. >> Yes, sir. I get in behind you at Airport and US1 with my lights and sirens activated. >> All right. >> And you continue to drive. >> Yeah. >> All the other traffic on the roadway is yielding to me for my lights and sirens and you continue to drive in the northbound lane with my lights and sirens active. You merge to the outside lane and you continue to drive around all the other cars that are yielding to me and you're still failing to stop. So, I call out a fleeing vehicle. We set up stop sticks up here. Yeah, there was a malfunction, you drive around them. And then you stop here. >> Yeah, I saw I saw Sarge throwing the stop sticks and I I immediately pulled over. I had no idea what >> Why didn't you pull over the two or three miles when I have my lights on behind you? >> I actually I did not notice you at all. My windows are very tinted and it's very dewy in the mornings. Um I swear to god, they're very dewy in the morning. I've been pulled over by you guys before. I've stopped. That's I have no reason to >> I've been pulled over by you guys before and you guys cut me a break, you know, cuz we always cut each other breaks. >> early early I was did not My windows are super because it's a UC vehicle, they're super dark and tinted. I listen to music all the >> There's no way that you didn't hear my siren or see all my lights. There's no way. >> I got >> All the other public out here on the roadway saw and heard me and yielded to me and you drove around all of them. When I finally turned my lights off because I'm not going to pursue, you accelerated even more. Okay? >> I apologize, sir. >> That's it? >> Yeah, I apologize, sir. >> Okay, well, you're under arrest today for fleeing and eluding, okay? >> Yep. What is that? >> And I guarantee the only reason he's doing this is because this sergeant called it out on the radio, got other cops involved. Now, there's a whole lot of attention to it and his back is against the wall. He's got to make a decision. He's got to make the arrest. But, is the arrest going to stick? Stay tuned. >> But, he didn't see or hear me. Yeah. Good morning. Um everybody's fine, but slight incident this morning. Um now, it's it's involving me. Um uh went to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle going 88 on US1. Got in behind them at Airport and One. Lights and sirens. Failed to stop. Accelerated going around the traffic yielding to me. Went to the outside lane. Lights and sirens still. Accelerated. Finally shut it down. We had some guys up here on the north end with sticks. Um drove around the sticks and then stopped. Uh got him out at gunpoint, and it's a Flagler County major case detective. So, he's he didn't see or hear me. It's it's not an excuse. So, he's he's 10-15, and uh Flagler County sending someone down to pick all this stuff up. >> Oh, Flagler County is going to send somebody to pick up the vehicle. So, not even the vehicle would be impounded. Your vehicle would be impounded. And when you got arrested, that arrest would definitely stick because you don't have qualified immunity like cops do. What happened to Ardit Koma who was charged with fleeing and eluding, speeding 88 mph in a 55. So, he's going 33 mph over the speed limit. But, as you can see here, the state declined to prosecute. And for his 88 in a 55, there was internal discipline. He got a 2-day suspension, 90-day vehicle loss. But, wait, there's more. Flagler County Sheriff's Detective Artie Kama filed a lawsuit against the department in April of 2026 for false arrest, Fourth Amendment violation, unreasonable seizure, no probable cause for anything beyond a speeding violation. He's suing the city of Ormond and the arresting sergeant and he's seeking damages to be determined at the trial. If there was ever a face that depicted, "Hey, I've got qualified immunity. I can get away with whatever I want to get away with." It's that right there. Leave your thoughts about this in the comments below. I want to hear what you have to say.
