welcome back to the lackluster Channel a video I recently published featured an unlawful search and seizure of taeyeon Shea in Louisville at around the same time the same Department conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle of Mr Anthony Parker and his family as they returned home from church [Applause] [Music] what's up man how much are y'all doing today I'm just leaving church awesome man it's awesome yeah I'm sorry because you didn't use a turn signal the officer claims that Anthony did not activate his turn signal however the body cam footage shows that his turn signal was used during the turn but Anthony makes the common mistake of offering information to the officer he was already over there yeah are there any weapons or drugs in the car or anything like that there so there's no guns in the car any knives no no no narcotics man your hands are shaking like a leaf but even your faces I just like people to be honest and straight up with me all right do you have your driver's license I paid the reinstatement yes sir I'm gonna get him out and get that out and we're gonna go to the back then we'll get you out here in a second okay I know when you exit vehicle keep our hands filtered Of All Times all right don't put your hands in your pockets foreign [Music] attempt by the officers to find weapons and narcotics and without the lawful authority to do so the officers conduct a Terry Frisk Anthony and his family were let go without a citation but upon reviewing the body cam footage he contacted an attorney and filed a lawsuit against the officers and the department for violating their fourth amendment rights through an unlawful and deceptive traffic stop the lawsuit alleged that it was common practice for the Departments to Target specific vehicles and their occupants by conducting pretextual stops which is where an officer pulls you over for something simple like not using a turn signal and uses that as an opportunity to search the person and their vehicle in most cases the searches and seizures are unlawful based on the Terry standard but most citizens that don't understand their rights will allow these deprivations as they fear potential retaliation if they refuse to consent in this case it was clear that the officer simply made up a reason to stop the vehicle and the City of Louisville eventually agreed to pay 75 000 to the family it's common that in settlements like this that the plaintiff is banned from speaking about the actual settlement however in this case the couple and their lawyers were forbidden from criticizing the Louisville Metro Government or the police officers involved the prohibition included criticisms in statements to the media or on social media which seems like they're violating the couple's civil rights to cover for their previous wrongdoings essentially paying to silence their critics this incident its lawsuit and several others caused the lmpd to change their policy on traffic stops and now officers can only remove someone from a vehicle if they have a reasonable and articulable belief that the person is armed or presents a danger or the officer has probable cause to think the person has committed an arrestable offense or is wanted on a warrant which should have been the policy in the first place but as we've seen time and time again the least American of Institutions and most unconstitutional organizations happen to be law enforcement agencies thanks for watching if you have a video use the submit Link in the description or pinned comment if you enjoyed this one subscribe and hit the bell for future content and check out our other channels lady lackluster and the odd side remember to like share and leave a comment about what you think of this interaction it's the easiest way for you to help expose corruption and misconduct merchandise is available using the links below join the lackluster family for just a buck if you'd like to further support the channel get a Lac logo next to your name custom emotes and early access to videos I look forward to seeing you in the next one all links are down below thank you
