All right, we're getting a shot at 33 This event took place on October 12th, 2019. Fati Mutlurk, the officer who was injured, was a rookie with just four months on the job. As a result of Corporal Klingan Smith's reckless actions, he suffered a broken femur. He continued serving with the department before moving on to a new department in January of 2024. In June of 2020, Officer Muturk went on to file a lawsuit against the city of Springfield and Corporal Klingan Smith. The initial complaint stated that at all relevant times, Corporal Klingan Smith was Mr. Mutler's superior in the chain of command. According to the complaint, Mr. Mutlurk required surgery and extensive rehabilitation treatment, relegating him to desk work. The complaint goes on to state that the taser misuse, including the taser bomb, is a common occurrence within the department. The civil lawsuit was closed in November of 2022 with the notice of voluntary dismissal without prejudice. We have not been able to locate any criminal charges associated with this occurrence.
