I >> I'm telling you what I saw. >> Okay, I got you. I got you. >> You've told me you were drinking. >> Yeah. >> Right. >> But it's also >> It doesn't matter if you're an officer or not. >> Then that puts me my my job at risk, right? >> You don't think it's going to put mine at risk if I don't do this? >> Dude, I I understand. But can I can I maybe someone else put put behind the wheel? >> Okay. He's putting other lives on the roadway at risk. And all he's worried about is that his job might be on the chopping block. And he wants one of his passengers to take the field sobriety test in his place. >> You see, you're slurring your words. >> I am. I understand that. >> Yeah. >> I'm not I'm not trying to I'm not trying to risk my my my career off this. >> He's admitting that he's slurring his words and he's already admitted that he's drank a couple drinks. >> Off duty PCSO. I didn't make that decision for you, right? >> Dude, I've done this many times, dude. >> Okay. Do you drink or not? >> No, I don't. Okay, then that's not my decision. >> I understand. I understand that. I'm trying to get my [ __ ] friends home, dude. Then don't put my my [ __ ] career at risk. Like, if >> Dude, I'm not trying to [ __ ] do this with you right now. But like, so are you refusing to do these tests? It's a simple yes or no. I understand if I refuse, then you're going to place me under arrest, and that's some [ __ ] Is it though? >> It is. Dude, you know what we go through, dude. >> I Yeah, I do. >> Yes. >> Which is exactly why you should know better. >> Yes. And that's our training. My friends home right now, dude. >> But you're drunk. >> And let me talk to Sergeant then, dude. >> Talk to my sergeant. He's going to tell you the same thing. He doesn't think I should do a DUI investigation. >> You ask a question. How much you going to drink today? >> I've had enough. >> What is enough? One beer. We drink a beer of mixed drinks. >> Mixed drinks. >> How many? >> Three. >> Three. >> Yeah. >> When was your first mixed drink? >> What was it? >> When was it? >> Probably about 11. >> When was your last drink? And what kind of drinks were you having? >> I was having a cranberry uh tequila. >> It's a little after 2:00 now, right? >> Yes, sir. >> And you chose to drive, right? Do you feel like you are impaired? >> I feel like I could have got my friends home. >> Yeah. No question. Do you feel like you're impaired? You made the decision to drive. Do you feel like you're impaired? Are you feel like you're okay to drive? >> Feel like I'm okay to drive. >> Feel like you're okay to drive. So, do you want to do the test? Here's the deal. If you do the test and you're fine, we're all good to go. All right. >> All right. >> I love it when a cop hears, "Here's the deal. If you don't do the test, then you force us to make a decision. All right. If you think you're okay, like you just said, there should be you should be doing the test, right? The test give you a chance to show that you're not impaired. You know, just like we do. >> The test gives you a chance to show that you're not impaired. Most people know that field sobriety Well, no, I can't even say that. People should know that field sobriety tests are designed to make you fail. They're very subjective. >> We can't look at it and say, "You know what? Then why can't you but why can't you help me out though? >> You know what? If you're I'll be honest. If you're just beating a little bit, I can I can ignore that, right? Say you help me out, brother. Help me out. >> If you're been drinking and driving, why are we out here right now? Why are we out here looking for folks who are going to hit and kill somebody? All right. >> I'm not you know, as a fellow officer, you know I'm not out here. Do that. I'm right there off of [ __ ] Apache. What's your name? What's your first name? >> Julian. >> Julian. >> Yes. Yes, sir. >> Here's my question. All right. Will you knock out these address? >> Brother, I'm right down the [ __ ] road, dude. >> I understand that, but we're not down the road. >> Every cop that gets pulled over for drunken driving always lives right down the road. I'm just two blocks away. I'm right down the road. I live right there. >> We're right here. Okay, you got pulled over. The obviously saw >> I seen him behind me, dude. I seen him behind me. >> And listen, I can smell the alcohol. >> I slow down. >> I understand that, dude. >> He obviously saw pull you over. So, let me ask you a question. Are you going to do this test or not? So we can see if you're impaired. If you're not impaired, we may if you we don't think you're impaired enough, we can say, you know what, part if we do think you're impaired, that's another option. All right? But we have a job to do just like if the roles were first. >> You know what? If if that was the case, you I would I would have [ __ ] helped. I would have said, "Hey, you know what? Call a [ __ ] brother. Call a sister. Call a friend. Let me get you out of this situation." And that's what I would have done. >> It's a yes or no. >> And that is not a courtesy that Julian would ever afford to anyone who's a civilian. >> Question. I understand that, right? But you made the decision. You You know what the potential consequences are, right? And you still made the decision. So my question, you hang up by the car. Will you help? Will you take care of these tests for me to figure out what's going on? >> Just talking back and forth. There's things going change. All right. >> What's the question? I'll give you my answer. All right. The next question goes back to what Officer Dave asked you. Will you do these tests so we can see if you're a paradigm? If you're not, then cool. If you are, then we have another team to take care of. >> What What What are you going to hit me with? >> I don't know. What? Are you a par? >> I'm a little cold. But yeah, we I guess I guess we can do that. >> Do you have a jacket? You have a jacket in the car? >> I don't got my duty weapon on me. No, it's at the apartment. No, >> it's at the department. >> No, it's in my apartment. Oh, in your apartment. >> It's in my apartment. >> Gotcha. >> You know what? And that's the thing, dude. You know what? I don't hit [ __ ] like that. >> Dude, listen. This isn't New York, man. >> New York, [ __ ] I'm I'm from Arizona, dude. I'm not I'm not from New York, >> dude. First of all, watch your mouth. Second of all, I'm trying to make a point with you. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Watch your mouth. What is is he the word police? >> What do you think's way different out here than they do in New York? Right. >> I'm not from New York. Why would you think I'm from New York? >> I'm asking you a question. Why would you think I'm from New York? >> It doesn't matter. Exactly. I'm not from New York. I never said I was from New York. My Arizona. I'm from Arizona, dude. >> Yeah, I get that. >> Okay, then don't I'm not from New York. You're Are you going to do these tests or not? Let's come over to the line. Not that >> I'm going talk to you, brother. >> Say what? Come on over here. >> I'm coming with you, dude. >> I don't care. >> Why did the cop who pulled him over talk about New York? I mean, does he know something about New York cops that we don't know? Oh, yeah. If they drive drunk down there, they always let him go. >> All right. Explain the test to you. All right. >> Heels and toast. Heels and toes together. >> Arms down by your side. >> Okay. We'll try to get this done as quick as possible. All right. H ain't going to help you, dude. I don't already know what I'm going to do. >> Any head or eye injuries, medications, or illegal drugs? No. Do you wear contacts or glasses? All right, man. Look at your green light. Both with your eyes and eyes only. Okay. Don't move your head. >> Asian's going to hurt you tight, brother. That's why I tell you. All right, man. All right, man. We're going to use the the side of this white line closest to me. Okay. All right. What I want you to do is place your left foot on that the edge of that white line. There you go. >> Right foot in front touching heel to toe. Arms down by your side. Stay in that position until I tell you to do anything. Do you understand? You understand? >> All right, man. Begin. 7. >> All right, man. Heels toes together, arms down by your side. Stay in that position till I tell you to do anything. All right. All right. When I tell you to begin, you're going to raise one leg of your choice 6 in off the ground. Okay. That's about the size of a dollar bill. Turn on end. When you raise that leg, I want you to keep the bottom of your foot parallel to the ground. Look at your toe and count out loud. 1,00 1,002 1,003. Are you ready? Begin. Arms down by your side. Four 6. Okay. All right. You can relax. You can relax. We're going to go over here and talk to my sergeant again. Okay. >> Yeah. Nice deep breath, man. All right. >> [snorts] >> Okay. 406 Hen. Hey, Julian. Man, >> here's the deal, brother. 0.121. >> Okay. >> Okay. You're well over the legal limit. >> All right. So, right now, I'm going to place you under arrest for DUI. >> Can we call for something else? >> For what? >> So, we not go through this whole thing. >> Wait a minute. >> So, it jeopardize my career? >> Man, I have to tell you, you did that to yourself. Like, I didn't I didn't crash. I didn't I didn't do anything. >> Again, this dirt bag is more worried about his career than lives he could have cost on the roadway. Julie, >> here's the deal. That doesn't change anything, right? You at the end of the day, you drink some blood. >> If this exact same thing happened to a civilian, they would have already been placed in the car and on their way to the police station. They're getting all apologetic with Julian. >> You got behind the wheel of the car. >> I know. I know. But like >> Julian, here's the deal. You're not going to jail tonight. All right. We'll be done with this. >> I I look I know you got to do the release we got we got to do it right all right >> but that that but puts me that puts me in like like court and [ __ ] like like can we like call someone else and do this [ __ ] like can we just blow [ __ ] cuz >> who do you want me to call do you want me to call your on duty sergeant >> I I guarantee you they're going to tell me to do the same thing I'm going to do a deputy I get it >> do you want me to park my car and then we can walk through the [ __ ] thing dude like we can we can just like this out dude >> listen I get it you're a deputy okay I just want I just want to throw my [ __ ] dude Listen, okay? So, why why you guys Why you got Why you guys do this to me? >> Seriously, I'm not doing anything to you. Alcohol or drug screening must be completed before your private may be reinstated. Will you consent to the test? >> [clears throat] >> The more you keep spitting, the longer this is going to take. >> Here's the problem. Here's the deal. You can't eat, drink, spit, bottle, go to the restroom, consume anything. Okay? If you continue to do that, you'll be considered delaying the 15 minutes per. >> All right, man. Last time. Almost. Yep. Almost. Nice deep breath. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. All right. You have CO2. [ __ ] scared. You're 14. You're a 14. No, >> no, not probably not nearly as much as you guys do. Mom overdoses where we are. >> You guys carry an arcane and stuff >> all the time. >> I heard you guys had a deputy that uh she almost died on her way to the jail. >> I'm chilling, dude. It's a little bigger than most. >> I get you, dude. But >> Oh, yeah. Do you got to activate the cameras or you automatically? >> What's that? >> You got to activate the cameras or automatic? >> No, we we got to activate the only thing they activate automatically. Still trying to keep it lowkey. You going to activate those cameras? Can we keep this all off the record? Can you do something for me, bud? >> Somebody kicks on their cages. >> So, when you get out of the car, you you press this button, the big button. I know you guys don't have body cams down there, but you know, and I know someone >> Yeah, they don't have body cams down there. No, no telling what they do without body cams. The P County Sheriff's Office is the same way. >> You've been saying you don't like them, but >> I mean, we never I haven't experienced something no other deputies have, so I don't know. >> Well, they've saved my bacon more times than I could count. >> What's up? >> Out there counting. It's like, hey, you do my [ __ ] [ __ ] We have any bones? Wait. Oh, >> do you not want me to trust you? I mean, I would have thought you would have trust me a long time ago, but [ __ ] dude. I don't know. Why? Why would you trust me now? You know, can't trust [ __ ] road. >> And that's where the body cam ends. Panol County Sheriff's Office initially put Navarret on modified duty, which meant he couldn't drive a county vehicle and rode with another deputy while taking calls. By the time the body cam video became public in midappril of 2021, a spokesperson confirmed that he was back on regular duty and the subject of an internal investigation, and the office declined further comment. Public payroll salary records indicate that Julian Navarret, as a Panol County Deputy Sheriff from 2019 onward, reported a pay of roughly $57,787 in 2023 and an increase to $74,287 in 2024. So after this incident, he got a 14% pay raise and employment indicates that he had employment up to and through 2026, which indicates that he's still a deputy with the Panol County Sheriff's Office in Arizona. And Julian was placed on the Brady list cuz you can't trust one word that comes out of his mouth. Can you imagine this guy making DUI traffic stops? How do you think he treats civilians without a body cam or a dash cam rolling? Leave your thoughts about this in the comments section below.
