You know cops can't legally retaliate against you for filing a complaint against them, but it does happen. Usually what we're talking about here is small-town justice. You know everybody in town and everybody knows everybody else's business, and you got a citizen who's filed a complaint against a sheriff's deputy in that county, or maybe a local city police officer. And that police officer just keeps happening to pull this person over for various reasons and writing them tickets. Is that legal? Is that retaliation? Hard to prove, but it could be. Not impossible to prove because sometimes cops just make enough mistakes that it's easy for you to prove. That doesn't happen in the big city much, but it does happen in these small towns.
