Never tell the cop, I know your chief. How would you feel if somebody came to your work and says, I know your boss. Do you think that's going to help you on a traffic stop? Actually, it's probably going to encourage the officer just to write you a ticket faster. He's not going to care that you know his chief of police because his chief of police is probably going to say, write him a ticket. Or did you expect the officer to go, oh, I'm so sorry, you know my chief? Well, by all means, come speeding through my jurisdiction anytime you feel like. On the scene of a traffic stop, it doesn't do you any good to tell the cop that you know his chief.
