we got done on the cops available for
36-12 west broad street
okay looks like we sent an officer out
there we couldn't find you
nope nope there has not been not one cop
that came in here there is a
state highway patrol who came in turned
around and did a u-turn i'm sitting
right in front of the building like i
told them
okay well wait a minute seven cops have
drove by but not a single one it's
pulled into into this slide are you
still at the advanced auto part
yep all right what is your name
and your phone number we'll send an
officer back out for you
okay why what's going on i'm pregnant
i'm homeless and i'm a drug addict and
i'm done
okay so you're trying to get treatment
yeah and mary um grant hospital told me
that mary even has to take me if i go
there because i'm pregnant that that's
their policy
but i have no way to get there because i
have to go to the one on jenkins
because the one downtown won't accept me
because i'm pregnant
which location you have to go to the one
on jenkins and i
jenkins and high their staff there at
night

um eight years
i've been on did you always want to be a
cop no
no i uh you know it's funny
when i was a kid
when i was getting ready to graduate
high school i thought that maybe i'd
want to be a cop
so i pulled up next to uh an officer in
my hometown
and i asked him some questions about
like how to become a police officer and
stuff
he told me he's his name was officer
super
okay he looked at me and goes you know
what he's like you seem like you're a
pretty smart kid
because don't do this it's like don't do
this with your wife it's like go do
something else
yeah he said uh
he didn't he's he wouldn't wish it on
anybody so
i went in the military and when i got
out of the military
i got a degree in economics and i worked
as a financial advisor
for like five years and uh
what's on these burgers they don't have
mayonnaise or anything no it's just uh
okay cheese pickles and good onions
i can handle that but uh
i kind of i had a bunch of clients who
were police officers for columbus
and they told me that i'd like the job
and so i took the test and then
i got hired yeah so i left my job
working at a bank to come do this at
night
i've been doing it for eight years now
that is very crazy

my uncle was a cpd oh really he's
retired now
but as he retired he was a undercover
narcotics officer
i'm pretty sure he was somewhere down
hilltop or bottoms area
but i don't know for sure because i
guess we weren't allowed to know
well they cover a lot of ground too yeah
so
but those guys tend to work for the
whole city probably everywhere between
the south bend and the hilltop
well he doesn't talk to me very often
he says he's not allowed to it's against
their policy because i have felonies on
my record
like at the end of the day i'm still
family like but whatever um
but when i've reported some drug houses
to him
hoping that if they get busted that i'm
forced to stop
especially you get in some place
right rather than off the street i
didn't want to leave my husband like
we didn't want to be separated well but
this is a little bit more important more
important to take care of me and my baby
when you ripped up our marriage license
tonight pulled the blankets from me and
took them all from me
and left i said all right bet you'll
never see me again
he don't know that i left you don't know
where i went
all right let's get you down there so i
don't get in trouble for taking too long
