Calling 911 first, it don't make you the victim. When you call the popo and you invite them to your house to kind of mediate this argument you're having with your girlfriend or boyfriend, guess what? They're required to do certain things that include up to making a physical arrest of one of the parties if there's evidence of an assault because their sergeants are watching. The supervisors at the police department, they instituted a general order that if you're sent to a domestic call and you don't make an arrest, you either need to reclassify the call as non-domestic or explain why you haven't made an arrest at this domestic or you're getting a day off. So, when you think you're just calling the police cuz it's going to make you look like the victim when really you've done something and you've smashed your girlfriend's phone or you did something else that's going to lead them to arrest you, you might be the one that gets arrested.
