Tough love alert. Being polite may not save you, but being rude can get you locked up. There are several body cams that I've watched where the person is just an ass. The citizen that gets stopped by police just starts the encounter with, "You've got about 22 seconds to tell me the reason you pulled me over cuz I have not committed a traffic violation." Oh my gosh, that's not the way to start a traffic stop. Of course, I don't like people talking to the police, but you certainly don't got to be mean and rude to them. Being mean and rude is just going to get you locked up in the pokey. So just be polite, be cordial, and shut your mouth.
