You'd rather go to jail. He's got my legs. You got your grandma? You mean like hitting your arm? Ground him, bud. Let's go to the ground him, bud. How's that? How's that, bud? What a bully cop here. Let's find out how it escalated to this guy getting face planted on the concrete. Was it justified? Or are these just a couple of bullies? Hello, recording. How are you? She sounds nice enough. This is Ocala, Florida. Wow, we sure have a lot of bully cop videos out of Florida. No offense to you good cops in Florida. There's a lot of good cops in Florida. I admit that. But some of y'all just really need some remedial training. Well, let me give you a little background. The store called because this guy may have stolen this beer. I don't have enough context to believe whether or not he actually stole the beer or whether they suspected him of stealing the beer. They wanted the cops to come check on this guy. They didn't want to prosecute him. So, when the cop pulls up, they go straight to him when what they should have done is walked in the store and asked the store owner, "What did he do? What do you want us to do before we go out there putting hands on him?" But watch how quick this escalates. Watch this video. So, what's going on today? They don't want to Why? Do you want to? Why do they want to? You don't want to leave? What are we drinking this morning? >> Drinking the booze. You're not drinking it. You're going to have a mark on you. That's not nice. Touch it. I want to. Why do you want to hurt me? Why? >> Don't touch it. >> Why? Cuz I want Why? Cuz you're not nice. OH, GOD. YOU'D RATHER GO TO JAIL. HE'S GOT MY LEGS. YOU GOT YOUR GRANDMA? YOU MEAN LIKE HITTING YOUR ARM? Ground him, bud. Let's go to the ground him, bud. How's that? How was that, bud? You feel better now? Do you feel better, officer? Did you enjoy slamming his face to the ground? Did you think that was really necessary? I mean, he wasn't fighting you. He was holding on to his beer. You grabbed his beer, which he probably spent good money on unless he stole it. I'm not sure if he stole it. But if he didn't steal it, I mean, it's still property. The guy's got a piece of property in his hand and you can tell this man likes his beer, okay? You grab his beer, he already told the woman, "If you're going to grab my beer, you're going to get a lawsuit." And she said, "Well, that's not nice." Well, then don't grab my beer. Use your words, officer. You don't got to go straight for the beer. But when you grab the beer from somebody who really cherishes the beer, you're going to get some pushback. And that's what they got. He held on tight to the beer and they ended up sloshing it all over themselves and now they smell like alcohol. Okay. Sorry, we're not going You in your head? That's what you need. All right, we're going to put him back in the Oh, hell no. No, we're putting him Hell no. Yes, we are. I ain't going. Yes, we are. I ain't going. No, put him on the back of Here you go. Yeah. We got one in custody. We got one in custody. Y'all two get Do you know if they can clean our uniforms? You guys got any baby wipes or something? I smell like beer. Yeah. So, let's go in the store with these officers and see what the store owner says. Who saw him Who saw him steal the beer and the drink? Just with both. Both? Can I get your name, please? How much was the milk That just and the beer? You know, that's not the problem. Just he's crazy. We just leave it. You don't You don't want him charged for the uh You know, we just fought him, right? Huh? We just fought him in the parking lot. Yes, he's nuts. He was saying this this was his store. He can get better now. Okay. So, did you see that? He said he's he's nuts. [music] He doesn't want to prosecute the man for stealing milk and beer, which is obviously what he did. They did see him steal the beer. The cops did have the right to seize the beer and log it as evidence because it is evidence. So, they had the right to take it. I think the way they took it could have been handled differently. If I'm the police officer arriving to this scene and it's a call about shoplifting, I'm going to go in and make sure before I put hands on this guy in the parking lot that the store owner wants to prosecute. Go in and talk to this guy and say, "Tell me what he did." >> He stole milk and a beer. Do you want to prosecute? No. Okay, have a nice day. Don't put hands on the guy at all. There's no reason for you to even encounter the guy if they don't want to prosecute because at the end of the day, you didn't see this misdemeanor committed. It wasn't committed in your presence. You don't have the right to arrest him for it unless there's a warrant. So, guess what? They put hands on this guy, it escalated quickly, it led to them face planting him on the pavement, and they're going to have to take him to jail. I promise you they're taking him to jail for resisting and for obstruction. They're going to find some reason to take this guy to jail because they face planted him on the sidewalk. Basically, he just told me they don't want to do anything about the stuff that he stole. However, he was trespassed from here in 2018. So, he's got open container, he's got uh resisting, he's got uh trespass. And open container. Open container, can I say that? I don't You know, yeah, I mean, you can tell people what they do for 28 years. Oh, well, that's what I was But he still has the open container and the Where did it happen over there? Right down the corner. All right. You get to pay it. Come on, Rodney. No, y'all no right. Yes, we do. Come on. Yeah, you had a choice. No, you left my stuff. Damn it. She's got it in her hand. She ain't got my beer. You ain't getting no beer. You a damn lie. I own this minute. All right. I can get anything. All right, be careful again. It's a big step. Big step. There you go. All right. Good job. Good job. Good. I'll arrest a man for something that y'all never owned in the first place. And you can tell this man, the elderly man, was a little touched, okay? He had some mental health issues, clearly. They could have handled this differently, I'm just saying. I can't call them bullies for it, because at the end of the day, they got a call about somebody stealing beer. They go out there, they find him on the sidewalk, he's got a beer. They had the right to go take the beer from him, and he didn't react properly, either. So, they had the right to do what they did. I can't call them bullies, but I just think they could have handled it differently. The welfare check shouldn't have turned into a face plant on the sidewalk. That's just my humble opinion. It could have been handled differently, and should have been handled differently. When he pulled back and resisted on them taking the can, at that point, as a police officer, I'm going to get some criticism from police officers in the comments, I know. They did have the right to put hands on him and forcefully put him in cuffs. I don't think [music] it should have led to this MMA takedown. I think they could have done it differently, and probably used their words more. If I'm grading these officers, I'm giving them a healthy A minus. I think they should have started with the victim and asked the prosecutor what their intention was, and what the whole purpose of the call was, or maybe they should have gotten some more information from the dispatcher. They had the right to approach this man, they had the right to put hands on him. I just would have slowed it down and used my words more, and maybe not had to hurt the guy to take him into custody. And that is my verdict. If you like this video, check this one out.
