So, what happens when the cops arrest you for somebody else's crime? So, some of you would say this could never happen. I could never get arrested for a crime that I didn't commit or a crime that somebody else committed or maybe a crime that somebody else committed and used my ID. And I get that call all the time, believe that or not. So, what we do, we have to turn you in on the warrant that looks like it's in your name and then we get fingerprints usually. Sometimes we'll get a mugshot comparison. You'll have to turn yourself in, go in front of a night court judge, get a bond set, and then ultimately determine what happens from there. There are situations where we've gone to the DA's office in advance and we've proven that the warrant was not for the person that it said it was for. Maybe your cousin used your name, your brother or your sister used your name and got arrested and there's a criminal warrant for your arrest. Call a lawyer before you turn yourself in. There is a way you can work it out without turning yourself in.
