Hey everybody, have you ever called 911 on a traffic stop and should you? >> I'm asking you to identify yourself, sir. >> Show me your driver's license. Show me your driver's license. Is it required by law for an officer to tell you why he stopped you? The answer to that is no. When you ask for a cop's name and badge number, is it a law that he gives it to you? The answer to that is no. He's not required by statute to do that. He is required by his departmental policy to do that. So, he's in violation of his departmental policy on identification if he doesn't identify himself properly. >> So, at this point, you're refusing to identify yourself. Sir, this is official business. >> There he goes. I knew he would get there. >> Now, give me your driver's license. For the 20th time, please. I will as soon as I see your driver's license. Thank you. Okay. Sir, the reason for the stop was your speed. Okay. >> I was doing 70 mph. >> You were doing 70 mph? >> Yeah. >> Okay, then how did you pass me? >> What's your badge number? >> I don't know. >> What's your badge >> Oh, you got a badge. >> It'll be on the ticket. >> When somebody says, "What's your name and badge number?" give them your name and badge number. Why are you pushing back on that? Again, it goes back to control. >> He just told me you have He said if I call 911, I'm going to jail because he I have an officer out here who's refusing to identify himself. I asked for his badge number and his name. He refused to identify I asked for a supervisor. He's making me feel like my life is He tells me I'm going to jail. I have everything recorded. >> This cop kind of bit off more than he could chew with this guy. He said, "If you If you call 911, you're going to jail." He didn't mean it. He's not arresting him for calling 911 and he shouldn't in this particular case arrest him for calling 911. I can still argue on a traffic stop in this day and age where we have so many people pretending to be cops, it's legitimate for you to call 911 to see if the guy behind you is a real cop.
