Hey everybody, watch this video of a guy trying to badge his way out of a traffic stop. >> I stopped you for the expired tag. You're from Martinson? >> Park Ridge. >> Park Ridge. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Give me a second. >> A driver gets pulled over for expired tags. But when the officer asks for ID, what he pulls out instead raises immediate red flags. >> Do you have an ID from work? >> Yeah. You know, I don't have one on me. No. No. I work for Park Ridge. I said I work for Park Ridge. >> Okay. >> I'm not with them anymore. [music] He admits he no longer works there, but he's still carrying the badge. The officer needs to verify something. >> Uhoh. You take the badge if you want. >> I don't believe I'd have done that, folks. This guy obviously was not employed with the police department that he still had a badge for. May have never been employed there. Let's watch on. >> The officer calls Park Ridge Police Department to check his story. The response destroys everything he just said. >> Um, do me a favor. Step out the car real quick. Do you have anything on you? >> No, sir. Can I find out? You >> are no longer employed by Park Ridge, correct? >> Okay. >> Then officer search his vehicle. What they find makes the situation even worse. >> Does this car have lights? Cuz we see the lights on there. >> They don't work. No. But >> where's the switch at that you would activate him if you did have? But you put those You install those lights. So, they're actually police lights that flash like police lights. They never use them. He's riding around with a badge and blue lights in his car. Do you think maybe he's trying to impersonate a police officer? Come on. I hadn't been a cop in 25 years. I don't believe I would have done this. And certainly take the blue lights off of your car if you're no longer a police officer. So, the badge he thought made him look legitimate is going to make him a felon at the end of the day. He wouldn't have the badge if he hadn't worked there. Certainly, if you used to be a police officer and you've still got your badge, it's not a good idea to try to use that on a traffic stop. If I got pulled over, I would never try to badge my way out of I would rather tell them, "Hey, I'm Dr. Judge. John don't answer questions.
