Why cooperating with the police might be a mistake. Cooperate means be polite and to follow the lawful orders of this police officer. Responding quickly and doing what they ask you to do. If he asks me to step out of the car, I'm going to step out of the car. If he says, "Give me your license and registration." I'm going to give him my license and registration cuz I'm not going to fight with him on the street. I'm going to cooperate with him. But when he says, "Where are you coming from, Mr. Rawlings?" I'm going to say, "I'm sorry, officer. I don't answer questions without a lawyer." He's going to say, "Well, Dr. Judge, you are a lawyer." I don't answer questions without my lawyer. Don't give evidence against yourself. Be polite, be courteous, be kind. The line between cooperation and self-incrimination is very thin and I want you to be on the right side of that.
