So many people are not using their right to remain silent properly. Invoking your right to remain silent is more than just remaining silent. Some people think that they can just pull up to a traffic stop, not say a word, hand their license over, and give everything the cop asked for, but not say anything. That is a way that you can handle the traffic stop. It's not how I teach to handle the traffic stop. And if you get pulled over by a police officer, the proper way to invoke that right to remain silent is to say it. It's the only right that you have that is required to be orally invoked, which means you orally have to say it. You have to say, "I'm not answering questions without a lawyer." It's as easy as saying the word lawyer, but you know, you should put the words, "I don't answer questions without a lawyer." before it.
