foreign with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office the deputy from the Lang County Sheriff's Office attempted to affect a traffic stop on a vehicle that was acting suspicious at the Pilot Truck Center in Fernley Nevada on the afternoon of August 4th 2022. the vehicle was a Dodge sport utility vehicle this vehicle then failed to stop upon the deputy activating his overhead lights and siren the vehicle headed west on I-80 and exited at the Wadsworth exit the chase ended with the driver of the SUV driving into a canal and becoming stuck 562 King he's stuck in a ditch here the driver then fired at the deputies with a firearm outside Frank shots fired deputies then began to order the driver to exit the vehicle rear window rear driver window oh [ __ ] deputies then took cover and one Deputy returned fire towards the driver who was still in the vehicle in the canal 562 King shots fired shots fired has numerous other law enforcement resources were in route deputies attempted to have the driver exit the vehicle all right I could hear him yelling but I don't know what he's saying put your hands up a short time later the vehicle began to catch fire due to the heavy smoke at the onset of the car catching fire it was unknown if the driver had exited the vehicle and fled on foot after the fire was extinguished there was a body located in the rear area where the driver was last seen to be shooting at deputies that was badly burned
