All right, this is LAPD. Hi everyone, Donut here. Today's main story is a mental health crisis call that turns into a full speed knife charge in a narrow hallway. All right, now on to the first incident. January 1st, 2026, Dallas, Texas, around midnight. So, picture this, downtown Dallas, New Year's fireworks, traffic basically parked on the Margaret McDermott Bridge, and you've got people out of their cars like it's a tailgate. And then these geniuses decide, you know what this party needs? Rifle fire off of a crowded bridge. >> [screaming] [screaming] >> Holy crap, look at this. You got to be a new kind of stupid to do something like that. Because bullets don't just evaporate when you get bored, they go somewhere. And the only reason this didn't turn into a mass cas story is pure luck and the grace of God. This isn't an oops, I accidentally shot a bullet off. This is full commitment to not caring who gets hit. And it wasn't just a couple of rounds, either. Investigators recovered over 100 shell casings around the bridge area. Keep that number in your head because this is the part where you realize these guys weren't just being reckless once. This is a Tuesday for them. >> [screaming] [screaming] >> Now we jump into the next clip, and surprise, the same energy. Shooting out of a moving vehicle is the kind of thing that tells you exactly how much we need them in society. Uh, not at all. No concern for who might get hit, just haha, loud noises. And then we get back on the bridge again. >> [screaming] >> THIS IS WHY NORMAL PEOPLE CAN'T HAVE anything nice. We can't even have a bridge without someone treating it like the world's dumbest action movie. Much less nice guns. Here's the part that matters. Once police started digging, this wasn't just a viral idiot with a rifle stuff. Investigators tied the same group to a separate road rage shooting from November where rounds were fired into a vehicle carrying three adults and three kids. Three kids in the car because of some stupid road rage. The charges kept racking up. Hopefully these guys stay in jail for a long time. From the bridge gunfire, we have misdemeanor unlawful discharge in the city limits. The road rage family shooting is six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. And of the latest update, one of them bonded out while the others are being held on immigration detainers. OOH, NOW I'LL NEVER COME BACK. All right, on to the next one. Oh god, Portland, Oregon, February 1st, 2026, nighttime. So after watching people treating the area around a nice facility like it's their personal UFC octagon, federal agents rolled out what I can only describe as a why didn't we do this sooner crowd control upgrade. Not because it's fun, not because anyone wants to hurt anybody, but because when a crowd keeps pushing lines, throwing stuff, and chaos starts spreading, you need distance and control fast. Holy [ __ ] look at that arc. That is the most beautiful nope you've ever seen float through the sky. It's basically gas canisters getting launched in an arc so agents can create distance from the people who just ordered the spicy air. Now to be clear, nobody should be out here acting like chemical munitions are awesome. Stuff kind of sucks. It's meant to suck, that's the point. It's crowd control, not confetti. But from a purely tactical standpoint, I get why they'd want something like this. It's pretty [ __ ] cool. When things get chaotic, close contact is when people get hurt. As we've seen in Minneapolis, Portland, various other places where people want to act like children. If you can avoid turning it into a hands-on grabby, shovey mess, sometimes with a gun involved at arms length, that's usually better for everyone involved. But if you're out there doing this thing where you rush fences, light stuff on fire, or treat a federal facility like it's a boss fight, and suddenly you see these canisters selling towards you. That's your cue to stop role playing and go home. Oh, you got to love the sun. All right, time for our main story. December 18th, 2025, around 3:45 p.m. Holy crap, we got two shot holes in this one. Now we're going to California, Los Angeles to be specific. This starts as a mental health crisis call at an apartment complex in Hollywood. This one is sounding intense already, even for LA, because the caller's reporting a man with a knife talking about hurting himself and saying he'll hurt anyone who comes to his door. Now like cops. >> LA City 911 operator 690. I'm just saying if these [ __ ] don't get like they go they come here, I'm going to kill myself. I'm going to kill myself because this [ __ ] over here like he he comes in and he disappears. He comes in and my [ __ ] head You want help? What makes this situation extra sketchy is where it happens. Apartments love to give you the worst possible environment. Tight doorways, narrow hallways, blind corners, and about a thousand places for a person to pop around from five feet away. You're trying to keep lethal cover, manage less lethal options, keep spacing. I mean, just look at this. I'll be contact. I'll be DCO. Uh Palant, you and your partner, you guys mind being a rest team? Got it. Calms and then taser. You can actually see them doing the right thing here. Multiple officers, slow approach, announcing, trying to communicate, and they're not just stampeding right up to the threshold. Hey, Juan. Juan, this is LAPD. It's the police. It's police, man. We're here. This is one of those moments where if you've never been in a hallway like this, you think, "Why are they backing up? Go talk to him." Because talking to him from three feet away in a hallway is how you get a knife in your chest before you even finish the sentence. The one-foot rule's there for a reason. Here's another angle from an officer's body cam that shows how tight it was. That's what she said. It's on me. Police, man. We're going to get you some help, man. So, they create distance, reset, keep trying to talk to the guy. Hey, Juan. Hey, it's the police department. And then the thing happens that you guessed was going to happen. He comes out with a big kitchen knife and full sprint straight at the cops. And that's one hell of a sprint. Hey, it's the POLICE DEPARTMENT. JUAN. HOLY CRAP, WHAT A NIGHTMARE SCENARIO. You're in a narrow corridor, your reaction time is compressed, and the gap closes way faster than people think in real life. Hey, it's the POLICE DEPARTMENT. JUAN. THIS IS NOT A SLOW WALK BY ANY MEANS. This is a suspect moving like they're trying to finish this right now. Someone's getting finished right now at least. And in that split second, you'll hear/see two things happen almost at the same time. Gunfire and a 40 mic mic less lethal foam round getting launched. People always ask, "Why didn't they use the less than lethal?" Well, they tried to, and you can still be forced into lethal force because less lethal doesn't come with a magic remote control. In the past 10 years you guys have been watching this channel, we've seen people just eat those foam rounds and keep going. In a hallway with someone sprinting at you with a big ass knife, you don't get to pause the world and workshop options. >> [screaming] >> Officers, as they do, begin medical aid immediately and paramedics take over and transport guy to the hospital where he later dies. Not much more you could do in that situation. That was just a hell of a small area for a person with a knife to be sprinting at you. No bystanders or officers were hurt in that situation and a pretty big kitchen knife was recovered at the scene.
