of the offices arrest right here I a St Lucy County Sheriff's deputy is behind bars after allegedly using excessive force during an arrest suji Nam is live at the sheriff's office with with more on this investigation suji Jade Sheriff Keith Pearson says it wasn't a complaint but rather an internal review that kickstarted this investigation after the arrest was made about two months ago now before we show you the video I want to warn you it may be hard to watch take a look at this video from the St Louis County Sheriff's Office body cam showing Deputy Randy Walker arresting a man back on April 2nd Sheriff Pearson says the video shows Deputy Walker using excessive force and that is when the criminal investigations division took over the review Deputy Walker now faces two charges one count of false statement and one count of misdemeanor battery so the deputies that were present that day along with the supervisors who reviewed the body worn camera uh deemed that the actions that day of Deputy Walker were not that of the expectations of a member of the Sheriff's Office and Walker was on paid administrative leave when the investigation again and after today's arrest he is now on unpaid leave pending a notice of termination investigators say that Deputy Walker reported initially that the man's license plate was stolen out of Fort Pierce and was allegedly recklessly driving as for Deputy Walker he has been a deputy here with the St Lis County Sheriff's Office for the past eight years reporting live I'm suji n for D pbf2 sending out a pre-made video statement but no opportunity for us to ask any questions on camera but like all professions in incidents like this cast a shadow on all the greatness they do but Sheriff Pearson did speak with a member of our news team over the phone saying his Department acted swiftly and that a supervisor on scene found the alleged beating by reviewing body camera footage the Warren affidavit shows other deputies thought the force was excessive and believe Deputy Walker joked about the incident saying I wouldn't put that video and find out Friday on this installment of find out Friday we're and that's something that I didn't realize about this either till just now so that Sheriff's Department is pretty known for like this video right here earlier today Elijah thought he's going to drive through St Lucy County in a stolen vehicle and get into a car crash working closely with the Florida Highway Patrol not only on the seat but on land Elijah's now in custody our message is this to criminals not in St Lucy so yeah like that video like went pretty viral on uh like you know everywhere so I was wondering cuz I was like he looked familiar too also the fact he said that we can't put that on find out Friday at Pearson's penous a reference to the Sheriff's posts on Facebook Walker's personnel file shows he was hired in 2016 during his career he received a reprimand for an incident with alcohol at a brewery and received coaching on the Department's vehicle Pursuit after an incident we tried reaching out to detective Walker including visiting his house where we got no answer according to the Warren affidavit Walker's lawyer told Internal Affairs Walker feels as if he is the scapegoat of politics Sheriff's Office spokesperson told us Pier person responded to that saying anyone who's seen the body camera footage would have come to the same conclusion as our detectives detective Walker faces battery chargers and then charges for lying about what happened he has 5 days to appeal the termination in St Lucy County and that's the end of that video bro my take on that man like that officer definitely got some issues bro because yes when you initially um run you know from the officers you know you back up and you take off like how he did right here they they they going to beat you up I'm sorry like that's just how it is I'm really sorry but I've seen too many cases where they really do do that and don't you run at night bro cuz if you run at night they GNA definitely beat the [ __ ] out I'm sorry but that's just that's just how it's just when you ever run that's how they are you know they're not supposed to but it happens but with this officer bro like that was too personal like the way he like it's like you could have stopped at the first two but the he just kept going like that
