I'm just saying. >> Stay with the property. >> We were going to take it cuz we don't know where the original package is. Who'd you order it from? >> Amazon. >> Amazon. So, he's going to give you the owner of the packages info. It's going to be burglary and theft. >> On November the 23rd, 2024, police officers responded to a call about a suspected porch pirate who believed the cover of night would keep her hidden. Witnesses reported seeing a woman pushing a cart into a residential building in the early morning hours. Officers immediately coordinated a search of the property, hoping to catch her before she slipped away. You I ain't doing this. >> Let's talk. >> No. >> Just stand still. Stay still. Is it Kevin? What the I didn't check everything. >> All right. >> Yeah. 107. to 300 Grand Street. Uh 220 >> 300 Grand Street. >> He's so clueless. Who is that? >> 15. He's on 15th from >> Who's in the building with you? >> Jacob. >> No, Jay has um four black kids. I want to say Dorag. I don't want to say the wrong name, though. Um black kids. Dreadlock. I'm just saying. >> Stay with the property. And now you know I got a shot. >> Oh, hey. What's up? >> Okay. >> Yeah. What did you say? After detaining the suspect, officers scoured the scene and questioned witnesses about how it all had unfolded, trying to piece together the full story and deciding their next move. >> I honestly didn't know she >> the girl that they just arrested, she pushed open. What? Push. >> Hey, hold on. I'm just going to get on my rounds. I'm just going to get your info. >> Like this one. This one right here. >> She p she got inside here. >> All right. Yeah. Just don't don't do it though. Yeah. Yeah. >> She pushed it over. >> So you seen her gang entry if I go inside here? >> Did she go in with another male? >> I didn't see anybody else with her. >> You just seen her by herself? >> I only saw her and my roommate. My roommate saw her the cart at home and then >> you seen her and Okay. Yeah. So I guess >> had the cart wind up on the outside. >> She said she was guarded and pulled up over there. She like ran back inside and ran out that way. >> So you seen her enter through here but not by by herself. >> Just by herself. I didn't see anyone else. >> All right. >> All right. Can you uh You know what? Just can you walk me over here? I just want to get >> over here. >> What? Just be >> pray a little harder. Uh, which >> my son learned his lesson. He didn't like the embarrassment and all that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. He did, right? >> What? >> Your name is Debbie, right? >> Me? >> Yeah. >> No. Rose. There's no dead in that apartment. >> And so what did she have? Where was this? So she entered through there. >> I opened up the door. My girlfriend and I just gone out to dinner. >> We opened up the door and I saw the lady like trying to shove that shopping cart through this. >> Trying to shove it. Was she able to get the shopping cart in there? >> Yes. So she got the shopping cart in there >> and it was empty. Obvious. It was empty. >> It was empty. >> Okay. And then she must have like grappled like jumped over the side or whatever. And >> I don't even know how to describe this. >> We were trying to describe it on the phone and we didn't know what to call it. >> Yeah. Um this my roommate made the call. >> Okay. No problem. And like grabbing. >> Okay. >> And then you you What time did she enter this? >> Wait. So she when she pushed it in, how did >> I have the exact >> You know how it got back to its normal place? >> Wherever this leads to, it looked like from like the small view that I had led to like a into a parking garage or something. >> All right. She must have put my foot in and then pushed it back from time. So >> all right. Got it. >> You've seen her enter by you know You guys will on the outside of what is that? 233. >> Okay. >> You want the outside? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. >> The cart was [ __ ] But you didn't see her go in with another person. Okay. Okay. >> Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. >> Thanks, neighbor. >> After getting a sense of what had happened, they still needed to confirm the full extent of the damage and see if anyone else was responsible for the stolen packages. >> All right, I'll bring this package back to the lobby, though. This is I got the picture of the This goes back, right? And then the uh >> I don't actually even carry this. >> The old part motor oil. >> What about these empty boxes up here? >> I don't know if it's >> Yeah, we can't really tell cuz it looks like that stuff is garbage, too. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to bring this to the lobby. I I just talked to the other guy. Do you guys know all the packages? >> What's uh What department are you? >> 132 vacuum. Not Chewy. >> No, this is Michael Vitali. >> No. >> 219. But you're the you have the Chewy stuff. >> No, no, no. I'm not Chewy. But I was wondering if you got the >> A vacuum. The vacuum is yours. Is it Did you get a package for a vacuum? >> What kind of vacuum is it? >> A Bissell. >> Yeah. >> See, where is it? >> It's outside. >> We were going to take it cuz we don't know where the original package is. Who' you order it from? >> Amazon. >> Amazon. So, we found the names. >> Can you just show us proof that you order it? >> Yeah, of course. >> This is Max. He's friendly. >> He's very friendly. >> Okay. >> So, I got I got that part already. It would be the Bissell Bissell clean RX pack and then that might be >> that's fine. >> No problem. >> Thanks miss >> you as well. >> Yeah, you're going to want to go. >> All right. We were able to locate the owner and uh we have all the information will be out of 12 and uh they have all the so he's going to give you the owner of the packages info. It's going to be burglary and theft. Just watch. Sorry about that. Yeah. >> Yeah. Third degree package theft. This is going to be what it is. That's cuz she was stealing. So when I pulled up, >> she was in that the door was closed. >> This was right here and she was opening this door with the vacuum in hand to put it on that into into there. She saw me. She put the vacuum down and walked out that back door. And then I pulled up over there and she came out of the side door over here. And Mark, you witnessed the rest of it. She came out of Oh, you seen her come out of what? The same thing that she came into or >> No, an actual door. >> Oh, okay. Okay. >> The officer seemed ready to wrap things up. However, one last issue still needed their attention. >> Where's your car? >> Why not? Still stay right here for a sec. I know how you know my go I take too many and I can I freeze because I have one eye and I think everybody's laughing at me >> and then I freeze up and you Thank you for buying. >> Are you receiving face the wall? >> Thank you. >> I'm not even cultivating it for my personal my way. I'm so glad. Come on. >> What do you mean? >> I got to get into it. >> I wasn't I wasn't there. I have no idea what's Okay. Even happened. Wait. Stand up. In the end, she was charged with burglary [music] and theft. The last porch pirate was an absolute mess, just like Samantha, whom the officer caught in the act trying to make off with a shipment. >> How did you get these packages? >> Um, I grabbed them from inside the garbage inside. >> They were outside. >> It was literally in the middle of a garbage. >> What's the address on that package? >> Um, >> um, >> so the packages came out of what? Uh, six for Adams. >> Six and Adams. >> Yeah. >> To a friend. >> Yeah. >> On July the 13th, 2025, an officer with the Hoboken Police Department arrived to find Amanda already caught in the act. The officer wasted no time confronting her. But Samantha, like many other hardened porch pirates, believed she had everything figured out. >> What's in those packages? I'm >> sorry. >> Those packages. >> My shampoo and makeup. >> MC6. What's the address on that package? Um >> um >> I'll be out with Sush. >> Um it's um six six something Adams. >> You live there? >> My friend though. >> Who's your friend? >> Where's this? Where are the items right now? >> In my bag. >> In your bag? >> Yeah. >> You left and you left the packages in that shopping cart? I >> I was going to throw it out, but I'm coming in here to shop. >> Yeah. All right. What's your name? >> Um Samantha. >> All right. I saw you guys walking. >> We were all in those packages. >> Yeah. >> Where do you live? >> Um um me? >> Yeah. Where do you live? >> I live in 300 Marshall Drive. >> You live in 300 Marshall? >> Yeah. >> So the packages came out of what? >> Six um Adams. >> Six and Adams. >> Yeah. >> To a friend. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Who is the friend? >> Jennifer. >> Jennifer. And Jennifer gave you permission to take those packages? >> Yes, sir. >> What's your story? >> I don't know. How do you know? How do you know each other? >> He He's my He's He's my friend. >> That's it. Okay. He come He come He come for me. >> All right. >> What was in those items? >> Shampoo. Um um facial and um um what was this? Oh, sorry. >> This was my shampoo. Facial and deodorant. >> And what? Deodorant. >> Deodorant. Yeah. >> Oh my god. Are you serious? Okay. Okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. >> You can fill in the holes for me. >> It's okay. It's okay. >> Just pulling a package. Watched them. >> Then they took the packages out and it's on the shopping cart. She's from 300. The packages are from six and Adams. >> I would happily put it back. [laughter] So you obviously know it doesn't belong to you then, right? >> Yes, I know that. >> Okay, >> it's okay. I get it. >> Who are you? >> He has nothing to do with it. Has nothing to do with that >> at all. >> He came He came with me to come through shopping. >> So, >> all right. Let's be clear. My body camera has been activated. You said six and Adams. >> The name was Jennifer. >> Yeah. My friend, his name is John. >> All right. At at six and Adams. >> Yeah. Six and Adams. That's why I got it. Okay. >> Um, that's it. I'm not >> again. Six of the items. You said it was Jennifer and these are the packages I saw in your possession and you did open up and you left in shopping. >> I'm not denying it. I'm not denying it. I'm not denying it. I'm not denying. Okay. >> I'm not denying. Okay. I'm not >> What? What do you mean? >> That these don't do not belong to me. >> Okay. I >> You did. >> I I get his pedigree. >> Whose phone is this? Oh, that's my phone. I got it. >> This is your phone. >> Yeah, that's my phone. Oh my god. I dropped it. I got it. >> All right. All right. Hey. >> No, I'll buy again. >> Being honest, that's all we want. >> Yeah. No, I'm cool. >> Just you though, right? >> No, he has nothing to do with it. He actually Look, we're about to go full shopping. Like, he came with me to come shopping. >> All right. This is your cell phone now. >> Open the screen on the side. That's my >> No. No. That's you. >> Yep. You hold your cell phone. >> No, that's fine. >> So, these are the items in the in the package, right? I admit it. I appreciate that. >> Yeah, of course. I'm going go. No worries, sir. We're going to handle this. >> I don't have my ID with me, but I'll definitely give you all >> How did How did you get these packages? >> Um, I grabbed this from inside the garbage inside. >> They were outside. >> Again, they was literally in the middle of the garbage between the garbages. >> No. >> 601. Jeff, >> Mr. An >> She's a 25. Samantha's explanation didn't hold water, and her body language raised even more red flags, pushing the officer to conclude that she was there with someone else's package for all the wrong reasons. >> I need her. >> I need his pedigree. >> Oh, he has nothing to do with it, though. >> No, we still need his information. He was with you. >> Okay. Okay. >> All right. Absolutely. >> Just stop here. Let me see >> here in her private. Come here. Just >> his bracelet thingy. That's it. >> Okay. >> Check this bag in her presents. >> Of course. >> Turn the doors on. Do you have anything here? It's too sharp or anything that's going to focus or anything like that? >> No. No. Besides my money. >> That's it. >> Just stand by whatever. >> Yeah. Yeah. Oh, my >> That's fine. Just check the uh check that please. >> I got no sharp knives. >> You got no nothing Sharpie in here. No needles. Nothing. It's going to focus in here. >> No. No. Not at all. Not at all. Not at all. Just trying to shut up. >> You get curious when you see something between the garbage cans. Like >> I made it. I got curious. >> What's this? this season. >> Oh, >> I'm sorry. I apologize. >> I I'll bet you. >> Who's super? >> Yeah. >> How do you know her? >> 15 years. >> Friends dating >> friends? No, no, no. Best friends. >> All right. >> He has a fiance at the house. >> Okay. >> This is him, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Get out of here. Thanks guys. >> The investigation wasn't over. It only became more straightforward but broader as officers still needed to identify the package owner and weren't done with Samantha just yet. two drop heavy. 16. Hello. Hoboka, please. >> Hi. >> Hi. Look for Deon Har. >> Yeah, that's me. >> Devin. Um, I found two individuals in possession of your bar. >> Don't touch him. Did you order these? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. I saw them in possession of it. I arrested the individual. >> Okay. >> Um, do you have identification? >> Did you know these deliveries were coming? >> Um, yeah. There was I think they were supposed to come yesterday. >> Did How did they make the deliveries? >> They're supposed to ring without the needed. And no, we weren't here, >> right? >> What happened? I thought we left it >> on the steps. You think? Usually they'll dang someone else is here and then and then I'll leave it in that little area. >> When was this uh supposed to be delivered to you? >> You can shut the door. >> Okay. Today's >> should have been yesterday. Let's see. >> Good morning to the officer. >> Good morning. >> 5:18 yesterday. You're expecting >> cars for the day will be 105 [clears throat] 113. >> Best of your knowledge. This was this Do you know if this package was inside the apartment? >> Don't they take a picture? I was just going to say I want to see >> it was I mean do you know what time it was delivered cuz they called >> cuz we were out of here but >> I know here >> but um usually >> yesterday I'm a little confused. >> Are you going to be around today? >> Yeah. >> I'll see if I can get this returned back to you after I process the >> I don't I don't need [laughter] it. >> No no no. It's your belongings. With the package owner finally identified, Samantha's fate was sealed. One poor decision was about to cost her deal. I got you. >> Thank you. to the wall. >> The yellow one. >> In the end, what looked like a quick grab led to charges of lasseny and possession of stolen property. The moment officers caught an unrepentant shoplifter with a knack for burglary right in the middle of a daring escape. >> When's the last time you arrested Franklin? >> Uh, this just got loaded. >> Yeah, >> even this is all >> I'm like, it's wet, man. >> Yeah. So him him now he's coming up saying I forgot my wallet. Like come on now. >> This guy is a burglar. >> Yeah. >> He's got headlamps. He's got the angle grinder sledgehammer. He's got wire cutters. >> On April the 9th, 2025, very early in the morning, officers with the city of Champagne Police Department responded to Lowe's after reports of an active shoplifting incident involving a man who had been trespassed multiple times and still didn't know when to stop. This time, officers arrived just in time before he could make his escape. or anything. >> I don't really I don't know who does go, right? I'm too close to the end of my career to get stuck with the needle. That would make me very, very unhappy. >> I'm too early a man to get stuck. >> You're right. There is no good time. >> Exactly. >> Wood, please. I don't have to get my vehicle. Lo called us. So, I would assume that is already gone. There's an officer who's on scene talking to them. Uh, so >> it my understanding this might not be the first time. >> So again, remember when I told you you need to be honest? >> You need to be honest. And I mean completely honest. >> All right. You going to go back? >> Yeah. >> Are you on for anything? >> Not nothing at all. >> No. Not on nothing. No. >> Okay. When's the last time you rested Franklin? >> Uh, how long's it been? >> Like 6 months. >> Okay. That case still pending. >> Yeah. >> Is that your champagne or was that >> Oh, Frank. >> Is it for stealing? >> Uh, I can just be honest. I'm not sure what that brand What did they take you on for that? >> Sweet. Thank you. >> At first, the officers didn't spot much, but when they searched his car, it became clear that they weren't dealing with a typical shoplifter. What they found went way beyond anything that they had anticipated. You pull that out. >> Yeah. >> That was riding there. Okay. When he started telling me this stuff been, I'm like, man, it's wet, dude. Like, this couldn't have just been in there. >> It just got loaded in. >> Yeah. >> Even this is all >> I'm like, it's wet, man. >> Yeah. So him him now he's coming up saying I forgot my wallet. Like come on now bro. We're past that now man. You obviously lying like >> Yeah. I don't know how we going to get this back over there then. But >> well lot of wood. Who was there now? Was it 75? >> Um got a truck over. >> Yeah. 785 7-Eleven. Do they have anyone with a truck that can come pick this lumber up and some other merchandise that he had taken? >> This guy is a burglar. >> Yeah. >> He's got headlamps. He's got the angle grinder sledgehammer. He's got wire cutters. >> Yeah. >> Say something about his drums and stuff. So, it's to me it's like >> he doesn't repeat the habit. >> Yeah. I'm no psychologist, but I'd say that. >> You I'm sorry. I said I'm no psychologist, but I'd say that. >> Yeah, >> there a lot of stuff in here. >> You got Christmas tree lightnings, man. >> He's got his here. >> Okay. I was sure like I want to catch a guy cuz I'm like we got to take a report on this. He needs to go to jail then. >> One of the officers began questioning him, searching for motives and the threads of his scheme. But he believed he still had an ace up his sleeve, unaware that the ghosts of his past were lurking just around the corner. >> Well, I mean, if that's the case, if I if you don't mind me asking question so so I so I can ask you questions, correct? Okay. All right. That's what I'm trying to understand. All right. So, um, yeah, of course, I get a call about, you know, somebody loading lumber into a a Chevy HHR. He gives this plate off and everything. We come to a stop. You say that there was nothing that you you said you didn't put anything in. All the stuff had been in there. But, I mean, obviously, I can look and see that it was just raining out. Everything in the car is wet. So, I mean, that's that's a clue if I've seen one or haven't seen one. But, um, what how how much more stuff have you taken from Lowe's? >> 76. >> Say again. >> Not much. Not much. I mean, what not much can be one or two times, but in my book, just if somebody stole from me one time, that's too many. So, I mean, like, how many other times? Like three, four, five times. >> Maybe like that. >> Like, give you give me a number. I want to guess for you. >> Maybe three or four times. >> Three or four other times. Well, man, why' you why'd you take this stuff, man? Why' you Why'd you take it? You seem like a pretty decent guy if you got the money to pay for it. Why you >> you know? >> I thought I forgot my card, man. This time I was going to pay for it. She said something to me yesterday. Who says something in there at Lowe's? >> So you thought you forgot your car? Come on, man. Like this. >> I did, man. I was going to pay for it. >> I have literally Come on. Who you wallet? >> You want them on the IOU? You going to pay him? >> No. I I That's the thing. She said something to me yesterday. So why would I go and do it knowing they're watching? >> Probably cuz you >> me like a hint like, "Hey, saw you shopping on the boulevard." >> Uhhuh. >> And I knew and I >> But you still left, man. like me me leaving cuz I' i've left my wallet plenty of times, man, in my car and I'll be like, "You know what? Before I take this out, I'll be back. I'll let myself wallet." I I mean, I've I've done it plenty of times, man. Had a a cart full of stuff. Me like, I >> loaded the car though, man. And I was going to run in and pay for it. And I >> How was You didn't ring it up. >> Huh? What you mean, huh? If you didn't ring it off the end of the board, >> how much did all this stuff cost? >> Maybe like 80 bucks. >> Maybe 80 bucks. >> Yeah. Hey, Trevor. He wants to know if he could pay for this stuff now. >> He wants to pay for it. >> Yeah, he's claiming he wants to pay for it. >> I mean, if he wants to, he can. What >> about last week's >> What And what about all the other merchandise he's stolen from me in the past weeks? >> Yeah. So, I mean, >> he's been stealing left and right. At this point, I don't really want to sell him anything. >> Okay. If that's the case, then if that's the case, then it'll be a legal matter and we'll take him over east. So, >> yeah. I mean, he's he's been hitting me left and right. Do you want to look at the video? Yeah, I'll look at it. Just >> let me get logged in real quick. Hold on. >> So, Lowe's does sell that brand, but he says for a video he did not take it from the Champagne Lowe's today. >> Okay. >> So, >> probably got it from somewhere else. Probably another Lowe's. And >> you want him to take it? It's a product we carry. >> Yeah, if you can if you can take it if it's from a Lowe's. >> I can definitely take it. He just didn't get it. I I was told he only got the lumber from me today. >> Thank you so much. I should be sending you a link shortly. >> You do want me taking the mulch or No, >> it's kind of hard to say right now cuz I mean it's >> like we can't prove if he bought it or not. You know what I mean? But >> just leave it. >> Yeah, cuz if we didn't see it loaded from there, I don't want to come up on nothing. >> He definitely just told me about the the different lumber. So, >> how about how much money worth of lumber is that? >> 40 bucks. 40 >> roughly three. And again, I was telling the other guy, he he comes in every single day or tries to. There's some days he gets stuff and other days, >> you know, cuz they they they run the block system for his license. So, that's how they know when he shows up. Okay. >> But we don't always get to respond in time. >> I think there's 16 bags of mulch. >> They're on sale right now for $5 a bag, which is actually pretty good deal. >> Really good deal. >> Yeah. >> Jeez. >> That's a good rubber mulch, too. Yeah, I might have to slide by and grab some of that myself. >> We got five for 10 regular mulch, too. Right now, >> in the end, he was charged with trespassing and retail theft. The last man had it coming and like these three aisle bandits who teamed up to steal alcohol. Talk about some truly dumb life choices. >> This lady and this lady came into our store and they stole alcohol. >> We I stole my alcohol. >> I stole my alcohol. Put in a purse. blonde girl and the girl, she was like, "Can you please please steal alcohol for us? This and that." I didn't want to do it. >> Well, they all went in to get a bottle and then Liza went back in to get another bottle. >> All right. Put your hands behind your back. >> On February the 12th, 2023, officers responded to a case involving teen shoplifterss who collaborated to steal alcohol in a surprisingly bold move in a local store. What started as a seemingly straightforward theft quickly spiraled into a dramatic confrontation, [music] revealing just how reckless their decision truly was. Fortunately, the store owner had carefully documented every moment of the incident and was ready to ensure the suspects faced justice. >> On the 15th um last Sunday, three suspects came and stole in our store. >> I made a report. The two came up here to admit that they did it. Their parents are outside trying to harass me, saying, "Hey, who did this? Who did that?" Obviously, I cannot speak to the parent. I have to speak to you guys. So, I called you guys. This is the case number. I can go upstairs and run the camera back and show you exactly what they took. >> Open the window. How you doing? >> Hi, sir. >> Hi. How are you? Where's your parents? [music] >> My parents over there. >> Oh, that's Oh, you are? Who's driving the vehicle? >> Oh, you are? Okay. >> Okay. >> There's one that's missing. I don't know where that one is. That's good. [music] >> Hey. >> So, so what's go what's going on today? >> So, on Sunday night, I was walking 21. >> This lady and this lady came into our store and they stole alcohol from me. They did it twice. >> What I did was they got I called and we about it. This lady came into our store today trying to give me money saying, "Hey, I'm going to pay you what I stole." My friends told me back to trouble. I told her, I said, "Ma'am, you cannot do that. I have to wait. Call my boss." My boss told me to call you guys when they're older. That's what I >> Okay. All right. How old are you? I'm 19. >> Okay. And how old are you? >> 16. >> Okay. >> I didn't steal anything, >> so don't you have your ID with you? >> Uh, no, sir. My I drive license in the house. >> All right. >> In a shocking turn of events, the suspect's stories began to unravel. One by one, they started to [music] implicate each other, revealing the desperation and misguided decisions that led them to this very moment. >> So, >> yes, sir. >> So, so, so what happened that day? Um, we came we I stole my alcohol. >> I stole my alcohol, put in a purse. Got Can I talk to you? >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> Um, I came and I stole my alcohol. Went back to the car. >> And when I went back to the car, they the blonde girl and the girl, she was like, "Can you please please steal alcohol for us?" This and that. I didn't want to do it. I really didn't. Um, and they told me like, "Please, please." And I was like, "I don't know what happened. I just went there and >> couple >> couple >> went there and dead and we came back. She have everything on camera. I'm not lying. >> Okay. All right. Do me a favor. Write down your name and did a birth for me and a phone number for you. Okay. Do me a favor. Your address and your license, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. [music] >> Whatever. You know, she has she has like she's going to give a statement. I'm going to get a statement from you guys. >> Yeah. We're going to give our hours. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, um my statement is is that um they went in there to do that and I stayed in the car because I already said and I wasn't even driving. I was in the passenger, I'm pretty sure. But anyways, and I already knew. I was like, "Uh-uh. I'm not doing that. I'm not going in there with y'all cuz I know I knew. I That's why I say in the car." >> So, who went inside the store? >> I told him. And I even told them >> and I even told them that they shouldn't do it. >> What's your phone number? >> Uh what's your phone number? Am I going to jail? >> Well, this whole time. Okay. >> Afraid of what would happen next. It was at this moment that one of the teen's mothers made a desperate request. Her voice was low and unsteady, hinting at something she wasn't sure she was ready to ever face. >> This was going to happen. Okay. >> Okay. >> Um, your daughter um is going to get a 490. Okay. We're going to fill out 490. Right. >> What's that? >> It's a It's a referral for defats. Okay. Because of the fact that they said they had the cur. Okay. >> They said they had the what? That's the fact that they went inside the store and and took the liquor. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, that's going to be a referral thing for them to, you know, um >> it's not a citation. >> It's not a citation. >> It's not a charge. It's just it's documentation documented [music] that happened. Okay. >> Okay. >> Um now, you know, >> due to the fact that they are minor this would not cannot take the money from them. >> Okay. and they cannot pay for them for it because >> Right. >> because they're minor, you know, otherwise, you know, they'll also be breaking the law if they take money from them. They're only 21. They cannot take money. Okay. >> Gotcha. >> All right. So, I'm going to have a talk with the driver here because, you know, but >> Well, were you scared of my daughter? >> Well, I'm going to have a talk. They're going to see they're going to they're going to get scared right now. >> Okay. >> Give me a minute. Let me talk to your husband. >> Okay. >> A dramatic moment [music] of reckoning approached as the main suspect realized the gravity of the situation. [music] Their initial boldness began to crumble, replaced by a mix of fear and regret. The consequences of their actions were becoming unbearable. >> Can you tell them to step out of the vehicle for me? [music] >> All right, put your hands behind your back. >> Oh my god. >> You've been placed under arrest for shlifting. Okay. Okay. So, what's the deal with this? My just turn back over. Okay. >> You have anything in your pockets? Stand right here for me. You have anything in your pockets? Okay. Just going to back up behind. Okay. Give me some fishy. Okay. Money. Okay. Going to count your money right here. Okay. Hey, Bruno. Where you at? So, I got I got here got three $20 bills. Okay. And and a $5 bill. Okay. Okay. I'm going to I'm going to keep that in your pocket right here. Okay. Put it here. Okay. All right. Put it back on the patrol car. Okay. This is what's going to happen, okay? You're you're going to you're going to get you're going to get a citation, okay, for shliming and you're going to get a bond. All right? You have to come to court, okay? >> Speaking to the younger suspects, the officer's tone wavered between firm scolding and surprising compassion. Still, the tension was undeniable, a stark reminder of just how close they had come to something far more serious. >> All right, so this has happened. Okay. >> You seen what happened to her? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Let it be a lesson learned. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> Due to the fact that you're a minor, you're 16, you're not going to go to jail today. >> Okay. >> However, you could run the same faith I said she did. >> She's going to get out. >> Won't you go ahead car? >> No, I we can't do that, man. But uh just But it's going to turn out really bad for you, too. All right. Because as a store owner, if she they see somebody stealing from her [music] and they would have had some type of way with her. >> Didn't steal anything though, sir. >> We were in there. >> We were inside the store. I saw the store and they got video of it. Okay. We got your We got your video. Well, >> you guys don't walk down. You're part to our crime. Okay. And the fact that you drove him here, >> that's part of their crime as well. >> You see what I'm saying? >> Yes, sir. >> So, you want to tell me what actually happened here that day? >> Um, basically >> we already we already got a video. I just want to hear what happened. >> I know. I'm not going to lie, honestly. I mean, I mean, we came here. They got out the car. They went in to or Liza went in. Well, they all went in to get a bottle and then Liza went back in to get another bottle and then we just left. >> So, how many bottles you guys took? >> Like >> two. >> Two. >> Okay. And from the beginning, you guys didn't you guys didn't have money to um >> Well, you guys didn't have money. You guys figured that you just going to take it. >> Um I mean, I know for sure we probably didn't have money. I mean, we're 16, you know, not >> don't have a bunch of money. >> Okay. >> But >> So, you guys figure since, you know, since we're minors, we can get away and not and not pay for it? >> No. No. No. Well, really, I mean, we're not none of us are 21, so even if we wanted to go in there and pay for it, we couldn't. >> Okay. Okay. All right. So, you guys Well, since we can pay for it, might as well just take it. Is that our thing? >> I mean, no. Said >> So, what was the deal then? I mean, I guess you guys you guys took the best stuff. I mean, I mean I mean, it's a done deal. You know what I'm saying? I mean, I just I just want to hear what you know, why your intent are cuz it's I don't think >> I mean, we was just we're just being teenagers wanting to have fun and that was it. >> Okay. So, you guys were home. I was like, let's just go to the store and get some liquor and just take it. >> I mean, I [music] guess I could say that's how I went. >> Okay. All right. Well, give him a minute. Okay. Just I mean, it's it's it's ridiculous. I mean, you guys shouldn't be doing this. You know what I'm saying? >> I I'm definitely not no more. That is for sure. >> All right. So, you understand that you know, you know, you the fact that you you know, you guys thought about it, bringing them here, you know, you know, it's still, you know, not right. And you guys, you guys depriving a owner of their property. It's not it's not right. It's like somebody going to your house and taking something is yours. Even if it's a minor thing, the fact that somebody took it from you, it feels kind of bad. You feel violated. You know what I'm saying? That's how they feel. I mean, you know, hey, they have all the right to do to do it. Okay, >> stand by. Okay. >> It was shocking how the 19-year-old crumbled under the weight of her actions. The audacity of stealing so boldly, thinking she could get away with it didn't make sense. And yet, here she was unable to face the consequences. >> Just calm down. Okay, listen. Calm down. Calm down. I know it's scary. First time you go to jail. I know. I know. But listen, They're going to go >> holding. It's just a holding cell. It's embarrassing because they're going to make you st. >> Yes, but it's in front of a woman, not a man. Look at me. Look at me. You're okay. They're going to give you like that. Okay. I don't know my name. >> Yeah. But it's just this is Yeah. It's just shoplifting. That's all it is. You're only 19. You're okay. You're going to be okay. Just don't do no more stupid [ __ ] Okay. You're okay. He's going to hop in on us. You got to calm down, babe. Okay. Just breathe. Just breathe. Just breathe. He's going to come down there. He's going to go to the bellman. I'll let him know where everything is. He'll be down there just like that to get you out. It won't tell you. You're not >> You're not going to go to population. >> However, the younger suspects were concerned about their lives. She would wonder whether they were the same individuals who collaborated to perform the very act they were being questioned for. >> So, we're like good or like >> Well, we're going to we're going to document this incident. It's going to go to the state. It's going to go to the state. It's going to go to the state. >> What does that mean? Yeah. >> That mean they're going to they're going to create a record for you. Okay. >> Create a record. >> Yeah. >> Are we going to have to >> juvenile record? You don't have to go to might not have to go to court, but it's going to be a record for you. >> There's going to be like charges or anything. >> It's not a charge, but it's just going to be documented. Oh, >> something happens to me in the future. >> So, if anything happens, like I get pulled over and they look at my record, that's what they're going to see. >> I'm not I'm not sure. >> Okay. >> So, if there's anything happens, they can pull up my record and see this. >> Will it go like on college resumes and stuff? Like, it will be on my background. >> I'm not I I'm not I don't know. >> No, cuz you'll be 18 and fall off. >> It doesn't work either. >> Oh, well. >> There there certain crimes that don't fall off. Okay. >> This don't fall off. >> Certain crimes don't fall off. Well, I asked him if he's going to be on my college. >> I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen. Okay. All right. Time. Here's your license. >> That's why life is about life is about decisions. Okay. And this decision that you guys chose to do. Okay. This was stuff that happens all the time. The people, oh, I just thought it was going to be a quick thing happen and before you know it, somebody end up dead. Somebody end up in the wrong spot. You heard about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is it right here. This is the perfect sample for it. Okay, >> hold on. I'm going tell you. >> All right. All right. So, you can you give me information, her parents information. >> Um, can y'all I know I know her. Yeah. Let me get >> cuz >> she's not 18 either. So, >> her dad's pissing me off though. Excuse my French. >> What? Why is he saying he's not coming out here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'm not going out there. >> Well, that's fine. [music] >> We got bringing my kid out there. >> No. Okay. We're going to get information. Yeah. That's how you can use the gun. [music] >> First offense did other >> I cannot give you any advice. I'm not a lawyer. What I can tell you is that we're going to document the incident. Okay? [music] And if you guys want to find out what what happens with that kind of stuff, you need to get yourself a lawyer and have them consult with them and find out what happens with that. >> In a firm approach, one of the officers laid out the repercussions of their actions. Each word carefully chosen to drive that point home. But as the explanation hung in the air, a lingering question ignored as to whether they truly understood the gravity of what had been said. >> Again, I hope you guys think about this cuz a lot of stuff has happened lately. You know what I'm saying? People are on the edge. Business owners are on the edge. They are tired of people bribing them and stuff like that. Like I explained to you guys, depriving somebody of their property. I don't care if it's one penny. You taking somebody from from them and it feels violated. you go, somebody goes to your house and you have a earpiece or whatever laying around and somebody takes from you, you're going to feel some type of way. And I don't think you need that. You don't have the necessity to do something like that. Nobody does. But looking at you right now, you don't have a necessity to do that. You You're actually throwing things away by doing that kind of stuff. Think about this, okay? It looks like you got I mean, you got more than what I had when I was 16. Having driving a car like that, a brand new one, you doing this stupid stuff out here. [snorts] Inexcusable, right? Life's about choices. Yes, sir. >> Let let this be a lesson learned. Okay. >> Yes. A very lesson learned. >> There's no excuse for doing the wrong thing. All right. If you need something, ask your mom. I'm pretty sure that she'll go her way to make sure that if it's needed and you need it, it's a necessity. She'll get it for you. With things like this, there's no need for that. >> All right. Have a good night. >> Thank you, sir. >> No problem. You, too. >> On their way to jail, the young lady made a daring but illegal move, forcing the officer to take swift and decisive action. Where >> are you? You on the phone? >> Yes, sir. I have my phone with me. Am I not allowed? >> You're not supposed to. Hang on the phone. >> You have earpiece on your ears. >> You have a earpiece on your ears? >> Yeah. >> So, the phone is on right now. >> Phone is off right now. is what? >> I'm sorry I can hear you. [music] >> Where's phone at? Right there. Eventually, the underage suspects were given documentation to indicate that they participated in the crime, while the adult one was taken to jail and charged with petty theft, just like those three teenagers. Next up is a man who thought he wouldn't get caught after making off with an unbelievable haul of beer from a local Walmart. >> Let's take it out. Take everything that doesn't belong to you out of your pockets. We just have to ask cuz if you come across with anything, then it's an additional charge from the jail and it's an automatic felony. On May the 29th, 2024, officers rushed into a local Walmart to apprehend a suspected shoplifter. And the moment they stepped inside, they took control, leaving no room for him to make any excuses or possible escapes. >> I'm just going to hold on to your arm because we're too close to the door for comfort. >> Let's go in that door right here. We have contact. We're in the LP office. Have a seat. Do you have an ID on you? Yeah. Do >> you have an ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> The wallet in your pocket. There's no ID in there. Nothing with your name on it. >> ID. >> That's what I just said. ID. Don't play games. I asked you for an ID. I didn't say license. >> 21 central. I'm on the scene. You can cancel 74. 73 27. >> So, what's that big bulge in your pocket? >> I ain't >> Let's take it out. Take everything that doesn't belong to you out of your pockets. >> And you better be on it because I will go through your pockets. And if I find anything else, you're going to be in bigger trouble. Do you understand me? This is my deodorant. >> We'll look at the cameras. >> You can see I've been using >> All right. That's all you have. There's nothing in this bag here. No, just pills for stuff I sleep on. >> Have you ever been arrested for childlife? >> I refuse though, but I >> Have you ever been arrested for shopping? >> Do me a favor. Stand up. Put your hands on the wall so I can check you. You going to poke me or stick me? >> No, sir. healthy. >> After a thorough search, the cops had seen enough and they had no choice but to slap the cuffs on him. His shopping trip was over, but his problems were just beginning. Not only do you have new charges today, but you also have probation violations. >> I got a shoplifting warrant out of Jackson County. >> All right. How does it feel for me? >> It's kind of tight. >> Well, one >> I can fit two fingers in each one. You are fine. >> Is it tight or is it just too close? Just >> just tight and too close to >> It's not tight. >> It's pretty. Or stand up. We'll put you two on that way. Spread them out. >> We can we can call them for you. Let them know. >> I'm going to squeeze by you. >> You're fine. >> Me, too. I'm done with you. Done with you. >> I don't. >> Which one's your phone that works or do they both work? This one. >> Stand up to me. Emily, didn't you pay for these or these? >> Yours. >> Didn't he pay? Did you? >> Yeah. That's what he was checking out. >> Okay. >> A little digging by the cops revealed the shoplifter's troubling reality. One fueled by more than just bad decisions. >> How many times you been convicted of shoplifting? Do you know? once, but like I said, maybe I'm once against I had a can of dip on the counter at Golden where I work and they don't even sell that brand. But the manager that saw me take it off the off the register, put it in my accus me of stealing it. They don't even sell that brand. >> We just have to know for charging purposes. >> My problem is I'm I ain't going to lie. I'm an alcoholic and I'm broke. >> Where you and your wife stay at? >> She's staying in an apartment with a roommate. I'm staying in the woods. >> Where you laying your head down at? >> Ciderfield. >> This is the third time. >> This is the third. >> This is the third one for two. Well, one conviction. The other one's still pending, it looks like. So if you're found guilty on your second one that's pending and then if you're found guilty on this one, any one after these two will be a felony every time for the rest of your life. >> Baron, how did you get here? >> He said he's homeless standing up on the hill over here. >> So you're no longer at the um Spring Valley Road address. You're homeless. Yep. >> Okay. Blush. >> Blush. >> Darren, where were you born? >> Georgia. >> Mama at a hospital. >> So Darren, you're going to be bars from this property for two years. That means this whole parking lot. So from the old parties all the way around to the wing factory. You cannot come back here for two years. If you do, it is straight to jail. We call the cops, you get the car, you're transported. We don't do this little meeting in here. All right. >> For my house later, I'll put it in this pocket. >> So, we check this pocket. >> Oh, not check the inner pockets. That's a good item. >> That's the other one. >> Yeah, that's the one you showed me. You just want to make sure you don't have anything on you. >> A pair of glasses. >> That's fine. or anything like that? >> No, I don't do >> We just have to ask cuz if you come across with anything, then it's an additional charge from the jail and it's an automatic felony. >> Like I said, only thing problem I have is I'm alcoholic. >> Have you tried Advantage? >> No. >> No. Okay. We need you need to get hooked up with Advantage. They have alcohol treatment. See you. >> Have a nice day. >> You too. >> Where's that other phone? >> Yeah, I put one in the pocket. Put another one in your back. That phone call. Try to call her and see if I >> Yeah, they'll let you get numbers out there. >> Sat on my phone. My case started coming off. The man was eventually taken to the jail and charged with theft by shoplifting.
