Help. >> We're taking her. >> Please, stop. >> Eventually, she racked up a whole laundry list of charges, including assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, endangerment, assault on a family member, failure to appear, and violating bail conditions. Up next is Kelsey Warren, a mother who passed out in a drive-thru while impaired, putting her little one at risk. >> I think she's clearly high off something. >> Is she still in the car? >> Yeah, she's still in there. And the baby's just sitting there. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. Hey, Maricopa Police, ma'am. You're going to be real right, okay, buddy? >> This is Dude, I I've never seen anything like this, so I have no idea. >> On April the 23rd, 2023, the Maricopa Police Department swiftly responded [music] to a distressing 911 call about an unconscious woman behind the wheel of her parked car in a McDonald's drive-thru with her 1-year-old child in the back seat. Upon arriving [music] at the scene, officers were met by a concerned McDonald's staff who had made the call and detailed the situation. [music] >> I think she's clearly high off something. >> Is she still in the car? >> Yeah, she's still in there. And the baby's just sitting there. Look, she ordered food and you see the baby's back there. >> The woman identified as Kelsey Warren presented a heartbreaking sight that left the officers profoundly heartbroken. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. Hey, Maricopa Police, ma'am. Hey, Maricopa Police, ma'am. Hey. >> Hey. >> What's going on? Hm? Hey, stop reaching. What's going on? You're really tired? >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Turn the car off for me, please. >> Yeah, go ahead and turn the car off for me real quick. Turn the car off for me real quick. Turn the car off first for me, okay? Can you hand me the keys real quick? >> Yep. Here's my phone, my glasses. >> Give me your keys first, ma'am. As the officers engaged [music] in conversation with Kelsey, it became painfully evident that she was struggling to stay awake. Eventually, she confessed to getting high on before driving to the McDonald's. When the officers noticed the baby in the back seat, their hearts sank. There, dangerously close to him, lay a syringe. The sight left the officers deeply shaken and horrified. >> Hi. Hey. Smile. You're going to be all right, okay, buddy? You're going to be all right. Breaks my damn heart, brother. >> What is this? >> Dude, I I've never seen anything like that, so I have no idea. >> As the officers conducted their search of the vehicle, they made a discovery of illicit including a white powdery substance and a syringe. [music] This alarming discovery heightened their concerns for the well-being of the child in the backseat. [music] In the end, Kelsey was charged with possession of a controlled substance and others. If you thought Kelsey was an irresponsible parent, wait [music] till you see Isabella Tucci, a 22-year-old mother who was high on and was asleep for several hours while her young child wandered the road without supervision. >> So, nobody found you? >> No, I've been waiting here for over an hour. >> Do you know where we found her at? >> By walking towards the street. >> So, we'll go to this car over here. >> I just fell asleep. I just slept. >> Okay. >> No, honey, no. No. >> On the 1st of July, 2024, officers were dispatched to a condo complex in Palm Coast after receiving a report of a juvenile in distress. A concerned witness had spotted a 2-year-old child wandering alone in the roadway. Staying with the child, the witness hoped a parent would appear, but no one came. Upon arrival, the officers quickly approached the witness to gather details, unaware of the shocking turn the situation was about to take. >> Hello. >> Yeah, there are two police. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, nobody found you? >> No, I've been waiting here for over an hour. >> Do you know where you found her at? >> By walking towards the street. I was out running and I noticed her and I was like, "This is not looking good." And she um I asked her where her pants were and she said she didn't She clearly didn't >> Hello. >> You're probably in her house. >> Oh. >> Do you have a dog? Let's go this way. >> I'm thinking cuz she's walking towards like the main road there. >> Okay. >> She sat by that yellow car. I mean, I don't know if she She likes the car, maybe. But nobody has come out and looked for her in the last hour. >> Okay. So she's right by the Mustang? >> How's this area down here? >> This is supposed to be like a 55 and up community. Um >> I'm just here staying in my brother's condo and I'm like, yeah. >> Yeah. >> Looks like it could go 50/50 here. >> So it was by the Mustang we seen in the grass or in the roadway? >> She's sitting Well, she saw me. She was in the road and then when she saw me, she ran and sat by the tire. >> She did? >> I kind of went and looked to see where she went cuz I didn't see a parent. And I walked >> And you've had her for about an hour now? >> No, I clearly Yeah. Longer than that. It's It's that. Yeah, I've had her for a long time. >> Try and just make contact to see if we can't find a parent real quick. If not, I need to get a written statement from you just where you found her, just kind of describing it. >> Yeah. >> Realizing that parents hadn't shown up for hours to claim the wandering child, [music] officers decided to search the complex and cars for any clue about their whereabouts. During the search, they noticed an unlocked condo with its front door wide open. They called out and Isabella, who had been sleeping, awoke and claimed to be the mother of the child. It was confirmed that the wandering child was indeed [music] hers. Isabella revealed that she had last seen her child when she went to bed around 2:00 a.m. and had gone to sleep immediately after. [music] She hadn't woken up until the officers arrived. The Department of Children and Families were called to the scene and conducted a thorough search of the apartment along with a test on Isabella. The test revealed that she was positive for and alcohol and she admitted to recently testing positive for THC. >> [music] >> The apartment was littered with open containers of alcohol, trash, and food on the floor. Isabella was placed under arrest and her reaction only [music] confirmed the officer's suspicions that she was struggling with substance >> All right. >> Have fun. >> So, we're going to this car over here. >> Oh my god. >> There's nothing on you, right? Cuz anything I don't find, they find it at the jail, it's going to be an additional felony charge, okay? >> Okay, but I don't do anything. I'm just saying. >> just As you're getting ready to go back in the backseat of my uh patrol car, I got to ask. >> I just fell asleep. I just slept. >> Okay. Um again, no narcotics on you or anything like that? >> No, I don't have anything. >> All right. If they do find it at the jail with their scanners, it's a felony charge. So, now is the time to talk, okay? >> I don't do anything. >> All right. Um Have you taken any alcohol or narcotics in the last 24 hours? Cuz I don't want you to need to go to the hospital. >> Okay. All right. Are you not pregnant or anything like that? >> I'm not pregnant, no. >> Okay. All right, I'm just asking. Can you turn from one second? All right. Do you have something to sit back there? >> She was taken to jail, but during the ride, her conversation with the officers revealed a shocking reality. She was failing to grasp the seriousness of her actions or the extent of her responsibility. >> No. No. No. >> [laughter] >> Kids. >> You doing all right back there? >> I guess. >> All right. >> A child charge? >> It's a child neglect charge. I'm going to be frank with you, okay? Um, I don't think you have any previous history of this. >> No. I just fell asleep. >> Um, I think you're going to work with DCF for a parenting plan. State attorney's going to review everything. The judge has to review everything. So, again, you're innocent until proven guilty. Um >> And then if I if it is proven guilty that I fell asleep >> proven guilty doesn't mean you're going to be denied your child or anything like that. Um >> What about my business where people look me up, they're going to see I I'm a I'm a child neglector? >> Dude >> That's how I feed my child. >> All right. Turn off your phone. >> The doors were locked. >> Again, you're you're aware that your child has been opening doors. >> appreciate you talking to that officer. >> You live near a water hazard. You live on a second story flight hazard. And homeowner or a clubhouse drive is right there. Um And your kid's in diapers, too. Like I I got a 4-year-old. And I don't know what it is. And >> My son's three, about to be three. >> Um, here's my 4-year-old right there. I don't know what it is. I wake up like he's out of diapers. I mean, he's fully functioning, go to the bathroom on his own, everything. I still like wake up >> I would have woken >> every 4 hours or so. >> Yeah, if >> And I just I just check on him because I I've known maybe because I do this job, but um >> I mean, we're in like a an apartment the size of like most people's room. Like it's like how how much could he really do, I thought, you know, without me waking up? >> nothing happened to your child, okay? >> I know, but the yeah >> do. >> I know. >> your child would have fallen in that water and have you facing drownings and >> His father was killed in a hit-and-run when he was a year old. And that could have happened, too. >> She kept trying to justify her actions instead of being accountable for what had happened. >> I'm just looking at 8 and 1/2 hours and what the the hazards um you know, I think there should have been a little bit more diligence there, okay? >> I just >> You can disagree with me, but >> Yeah, I know. I just when you're exhausted, you don't really wake up in the middle of the sleep. And if you don't, it's not really your fault if you don't wake up in the middle of the sleep. The only thing that I I could really done differently, I can't help how hard I sleep, would have been to put like that door lock and possibly risk losing my apartment uh by putting up another door lock up high. I can't help how hard I sleep. >> Well, if you're taking kratom or supplements like that that uh get that you know, mimic the effects of like a depressant or I think it is a depressant. Um you know, those are things that you got to account for. You're going to be impaired by any kind of substance, you know, you got to if it's going to make you sleep, you need to make sure that somebody's there to take care of your child. >> It doesn't make you sleep. It usually He the opposite for me. That's why I take it so that I have the energy to >> Everybody has a different uh reaction to kratom. I just know that it's often taken with My knowledge of it, it's >> I take it so that I don't have to take prescription cuz I was diagnosed with like ADHD and stuff like that. >> But my genuine hope is that from here forward and you get your kid back and >> I doubt I doubt it. Once they're in the system, I really doubt it. >> No, I'm >> I I'm going to try. I'm going to do everything I can. >> with the system before? I don't [clears throat] think you're going to you're going to see your kid again, I don't. >> I think I'll see him. I don't think that I'll get him back. And I don't think I'll be able to afford to anyways because I think that this is going to ruin my business and I won't be able to afford to get him back. >> In the end, Isabella was taken to jail and charged with felony [music] young person without great bodily harm. Just when it seemed like nothing could surprise you anymore, along comes 37-year-old Jennifer Consolino found impaired in a parking lot with her baby sitting in the back seat. >> DUI goes far beyond alcohol. You understand that, right? A DUI can be drugs as well. That was 18 seconds. All right, at this time you are being placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, chemical, or controlled substance. >> I used to >> Stop. >> Come on, man. >> Hello.
