talk I'm 16 cup Kent caught me calling out the traffic stop so call out a traffic stop is when I'm on the road and I'm letting my dispatcher know where I am and the vehicle that I'm out with um I start out with Tom 16 which is my personal call sign uh I'm the only Tom 16 in the in the agency so when I call out Tom 16 they know it's me um in my particular agency if your call sign starts with a Tom that means you're a Traffic Unit so if you know we have Tom 11 all the way to Tom 20 something right now and um so my call sign's Tom 16 so that's that's me uh all the other units have detectives or David units and the search and rescue or SAR that's there there are SAR one SAR 2 SAR 3 um all the different agencies you use different call signs that's just the way that we do it here in panel I just have to pick up my daughter I'm not just trying to let you know cuz I don't want to be late I can tell was I driving that fast honestly I was listening to a country song and I wasn't even so you're more than double the speed limit was I really yeah the speed limit on Kenworthy is 25 and your speed was locked in at 51 your top speed I saw you at was 52 that's awful I think I was just distracted cuz I got off a work call and yeah no that's not typically my all right well I'm Deputy slope I work for the panal county sheriff's office Traffic Unit may see how your registration paperwork current proof insurance can you tell on a mom I napkins were always a necessity and then my insurance is on my own sure yeah we do that here that's a it's an Arizona [Applause] thing as soon as the lady says that she was listening to country music on her way to go pick up her daughter Kent cues the country music kind of as as background music so I appreciate that not only being country but also the fact that the lyrics were that the the lady was singing about being on the move which obviously was the reason that I stopped that car is cuz she was also moving a little too fast I mean if these people were going 40 I'd never talk to them like and that's 15 over but like I get it like everyone's you got to go somewhere but at least make a make an attempt what's going on man Frank right yeah nice right on man I like your car never seen you in real life that's it I'm here man just writing tickets that's aesome be [Music] good I just put two and two together on who you were I just realize it with the camera there yeah not all the time but sometimes that's not a great feeling sometimes it it just happens that way you are well within the criminal realm of for Speed because you're more than 20 over we kept it civil which makes it a lot easier for you okay are there any questions I can answer for you I don't think so you are free to continue I appreciate you wearing your traffic ticket it's always nice to at least be able to to give them you know a verbal warning for for criminal speed and keep it civil makes it set they don't have to go to court so it's a little bit you got to know better I know so I talked to this guy about having a Class A license uh in Arizona if you have a class A license you're a commercial vehicle driver so if you drive a tractor trailer or you're driving some sort of real heavy machinery or something you have to have a different class license which means you've gone through more schooling more driving tests Tes in um you you just you have you're responsible for more on the roadway than the average driver um so all the tractor trailer drivers they're all class a driver licenses um when you have a class A license the state of Arizona also holds you to a higher standard um you can't go to driving school no matter what the violation is you can't go to driving school um and you can have that class A license taken away which means that you can no longer do your job um so when I stop people with class a driver's licenses I I really unless they're doing something that is just absolutely terribly dangerous um I really try to give them a break because I mean those are guys that are just they're hardworking guys and girls that are on the road um and the vast majority of the time when I'm stopping them it's for something that is not um moving violation related because they really know the rules of the road being professional drivers but when I can I cut them a break I have a question what are you fishing for I'm going to give you a warning even though you're speeding well that one expired in January about a month and a half ago it's probably just a good reason to stop them there we go what out for the not not registration that expired were coming up on 2 months being expired it's my girlfriend's car I thought she had it she got you stopped man let me call her real quick and find out give her a call the registration should be in here let see that one's a better one let me see if she has another one well that one's from 2022 so there might even be a better one oh my God this woman what's your girlfriend's name man she got a warning for Speed yeah I know I know man what where's your registration at in the glove compartment where I told you that piece of paper that they gave me the DMV nope they wouldn't have given you your insurance at the DMV you're Frank said you're full no the registration yeah I'm looking for insurance oh the insurance is on my phone I'll send it to him all right can you if you could send him that I'd appreciate it she's on her way which which one are you at at the very que is your license suspended shouldn't we so why is she coming here cuz she doesn't have to come here it's her freaking she save your save your time just send him the insurance as long as he doesn't have a warrant he's not going to go to jail and hey take all that stuff that's hanging from your rearview mirror off we're not allow no no those things are actually meant to go on your turn signals and your shifter and stuff all right let me go check this stuff out stay in here okay oh man there was a dude driving my girl's car and I got pulled over I sure wouldn't call her and tell her to come here handle your business man his license is valid we've never contacted him before totally fine no reason no reason to come here some dudes hey still there yes sir all right do I need to write a ticket please don't okay are you going to send him the insurance yeah I just did okay let me check that out yeah let's see yep see that one's good it's good all the way through August perfect so we're going to cut him a break but you got to get get your car in line don't be letting him drive around dirty being harassed by the police I got you all B to the side I look I said babe what car does Frank Drive she said I think it has a black light as soon as she said back your ni SCH yeah by the time I'm behind you partner it's too late you better mistake when he gets home for putting up with all this that you caused maybe we don't have to get the butter explor yeah now we're talking all right man your license is good you've obviously never been contacted by us before am that's all right I don't care about I don't care about what you did care about what you're doing you know and you're being super cool and you know your girls got good insurance that's which is really one of the most important things man she'll she'll get that registration taken care of I'm sure be me I'm going to make sure she does all right dude dude a picture man thanks for being cool put your seot back on be cool man it really starts out with pcso having a great culture we're not the best paid panal County Sheriff's office is not the highest paid police agency in the state of Arizona that is a true fact um there are lots of agencies that make more than us uh Phoenix PD Queen Creek Pache Junction Scottsville PD Tempe PD Chandler Gilbert goody year I mean a ton of agencies make more than we do um but like I say panal is a great place to work and our leadership and the culture within the agency um morale is good so if I'm not making as much as those other agencies but I have more fun um I deal with less bureaucracy than in some of the city agencies um I'm I'm willing to take that pay cut to have more fun at work um and it also allows me to have a personality um and to bring that personality to work and how I do my job um and some other agencies that are um a little bit more stringent on how they conduct themselves um maybe don't appreciate the fact that I have a personality so I like the fact that panel does but we do have the best culture you can't put a price tag on that cuz if you gave someone a $5,000 raise in 6 months they're going to forget about that and they're going to be back to being miserable but if you have a great culture that culture transcends time I have support from the line level supervisors all the way up to the sheriff our job sometimes it's not pretty it doesn't mean that what we're doing is wrong sometimes you do the right thing the right way and it doesn't look good on someone's video camera and that doesn't mean you did anything wrong we have an amazing leader we have leadership from the bottom to the top in this agency um there's all sorts of stuff that that makes this place great
