Did you take something that didn't belong to you? >> No, I'm an obstetrician gynecologist and I'm working in underserved areas. >> You said you're going to miss your flight. You're going to jail, Sharon. >> All right, everyone. I'm Frank Slow. I've got 25 years as a deputy sheriff for sheriff's office here in Arizona. Today we're going to be doing some body cam breakdown. Now we went back to the all-time greatest airport video channel, NY Detective. They've they've been putting out great stuff and if it's in an airport and it's great, there's a good chance it's from them. So that's the channel we found today's video. While we're watching it, we've got card number one while we play body cam bingo. If you want all the set, the entire set of cards one through five, you can order it at bodycambingo.com and then you can play along. Let's see what NY Detective has for us today. Officers responded to a jewelry store at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport after receiving reports that a woman had stolen two items from the store. >> So where was it stolen? >> Here. >> While reviewing the surveillance footage, officers observed a woman place an item into the front pocket of her sweater. Airport staff tracked her through the terminal until officers located her seated at a charging station. >> Ma'am. Can we can we talk to you for a second? >> Sure. >> Uh-oh. Can we just talk over here? >> DFW, baby. >> Were you in Kate Spade earlier? >> I was. >> take something that didn't belong to you? >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Yes. >> Okay. Okay, we just tracked you. They said that you may have picked up that wasn't that wasn't yours. >> I picked something up and I put it back down. >> What was it that you picked up? >> Out of all the places where someone could shoplift, the airport has to be one of the worst places. There are cameras absolutely everywhere. It's like shoplifting in a casino. Like they're going to catch you. There are cameras everywhere. They can they can track you. Once you leave the store, there's cameras all up and down every terminal, they're going to know where you go, and unless you just walk out of that store, walk onto a gate, get on a flight, and you take off, their law enforcement's going to catch you. So, this lady what I mean, she dressed she dressed like the Hamburglar. So, maybe she's maybe she was intending to burgle. But, she did it, and then she went and she hung out in the airport, got herself some Wetzel's Pretzels, which she didn't need any more carbs, but those pretzels are delicious. And she's just sitting there like waiting for the cops to come and contact her because she's a thief and she stole stuff. So, just a terrible plan and poorly executed. >> Um some gold earrings. >> What were you going to pick today? >> No, he's coming. The gold earrings. Were they anything else? A bracelet? >> I picked up rings that I wanted to purchase, but they did not have my size. >> Okay. >> The bracelet though. >> No, I looked at a bracelet, but I put it right back down. >> So, everything that you picked up, you put back down. You didn't actually take anything or >> No, I was trying to buy a Trinity earring rings. >> What kind of earrings were they? >> They were kind of big. >> I think gold ones. >> Uh-huh. >> Okay. Okay. Well, I mean, so here's the thing. They're missing a couple of items and you were in the area. Y'all were really the only two that were in the store. >> yeah. >> Okay. Um Do you mind if we just look through your stuff, make sure you don't have this uh items? >> Sure. >> They said it was in her pocket. >> Yeah, she said when she when she's in there like she put it in her pocket, but they said she you went a lot of places since you came from Kate Spade. >> Yeah, but there's nothing in my pockets. >> Okay. The cops in these videos do not make a ton of money. Now, working in law enforcement has been a great career, but it hasn't made me rich. And that's why I've been using this video sponsor, Upside, since before I even had a YouTube channel. Now, my favorite part about Upside is saving on gas. This is the actual app that I have on my personal phone. And that's more than $3,600 in cash back that I've received. I use this, and you should, too. My local grocery store is on Upside, and from mom-and-pop to major chains, a lot of great restaurants are on there, too. That's 25 cents back for every gallon on your first tank of gas using promo code FRIDAYS. >> It looked like you put something in your pockets in the store, okay? >> That's why we're talking >> And when you're saying like you're not sure if you put something in there, but >> know if I had had my own earrings on at that point, I I put them on some at some point. >> So, you're not sure if you put your own earrings on from here from when you left Kate Spade to now. >> These are mine. They're and they're a different brand. >> You don't know what they are. Okay. Well, I'm going to go through your belongings real quick, okay? >> Okay. >> That's a lot of belongings. >> Okay. >> Ma'am, just come on. Step back. Step back. Step back. >> Okay. What are you looking for? I'm pulling out all my money and stuff. >> going to take your money, okay? >> All right. >> Just go. Go. Go. Go. Go go there. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> [laughter] >> Step back. That's a good move. >> Thanks. That's all right. >> Okay. All right. >> Go stand over there. Over there. There we go. I copy. Where's it at? Okay. >> I don't have it. >> What's in the bag that you don't want us to see? >> Nothing. I pulled everything out. >> Okay. So, we're we're going to look through the bag. >> Yeah. >> So, if it's in there, just tell us. If the store gets it back, there's a chance they don't even want to press charges, okay? They they might just want their stuff back. But, if we got to go run through all these hoops to get to it. >> Right. I mean, I have some of those pieces. I buy tons of Kate Spade. >> Okay. So, you have some Kate Spade in your bag right now? Is that what you're saying? But, it's not theirs. >> I think it's in my main suitcase. >> You think it's in your Where at in your main suitcase? In the >> Is it your checked bag or >> checked bag. >> Okay. >> Why are you bringing that Why are you bringing your checked bag up right now? We're talking about stuff that could be in this bag in these bags. >> Okay. I mean, I do buy some Kate Spade. I was pricing some of the things just >> Do you have any Kate Spade in there right now? >> No. I don't believe so. >> What did But, you do have jewelry in the bag. Is that what you're saying? >> Um I pulled out a small jewelry case that has Kate Spade earrings in them. >> Okay. Is that where you were just reaching in your bag? >> No. I pulled that It's a thing that drawstring. >> Okay. But, other than that, there should be no other jewelry in there. >> Not that I'm aware of. I mean, I packed very quickly this morning. I packed all my jewelry. >> She's never said that she didn't do it. What do you do for a living? >> I'm an obstetrician gynecologist and I'm working in underserved areas in New Mexico. >> So >> down here for a year working. >> Okay, so like is stealing that be that's something be out of the norm for you, right? Wouldn't be something where you normally lost your phone? >> What would be out of the norm? >> You taking something that doesn't belong to you. >> Well, absolutely. >> Okay, so is there anything in the bag that doesn't belong to you? >> Everything belongs to me. >> Okay, I'm just cuz you're like we're asking you to step away from the bag and you're reaching in there. You're acting out of the norm. >> Is that the reason why you weren't listening to us when we told you to to step back? >> No, I was just pulling stuff out. Okay, I was just trying to get everything that has zippers and things that you can >> Yeah, okay. Well, we're we're more than capable of unzipping a bag or two, okay? >> Okay, I understand. >> Yeah, all right. Just hang out with him. >> I'm sure that somewhere out there in the Tik Tok universe, there's some Tik Tok attorney that's like, "Oh, you can't do you can't search those bags. She shouldn't have talked to the cops." When there's video evidence, it really doesn't matter if you want to play along or not. If those law enforcement officers, those police officers would have walked up and said, "Hey, I want to talk to you." And she went, "I don't want to talk to you at all." No problem. She still would be in this end up in the same position. Like she doesn't have to talk. We have video evidence. Now, if it would have just been based on the interview with the clerk at the store, I don't I wouldn't have called that probable cause for arrest. I I don't I wouldn't have liked it. It she wasn't absolutely definitive. Once they watched video and the officers saw that a theft had been committed and then watched her leave, that's it. That she doesn't have to talk, but they own those bags because of the possibility of the stolen merchandise being in those bags and those bags being in her possession. They are absolutely in They are They're within her grasp. They They were under her control and they are absolutely party to this crime. So, the those bags are fair game. Search incident to arrest or in this case with consent. They said, "Hey, can we look in your bags?" She says, "Yes." They are not violating the Fourth Amendment because there is a consent exception. It was also a a exception for being under arrest and having there be a search incident to arrest. So, either way, these cops are good and they're doing a good job. >> Okay. All right, sounds good. >> Can you double check some of those items? >> I will. >> She said She said it's It's from a distance, but like she was at the She was at the same rack where the lace was was missing from. That's why I told those cops Yeah, she said if it's if it's not her, it could be somebody from earlier in the day. What is it that she took? I don't got the I don't got the jewelry. I got the >> She's giving us the sensors after the >> How interesting. Sharon. Come here. Where are Where are they at? >> So, those I did not buy here. Um So, I had the >> So, why would I have the same SKU number 2299261 KS like KS robes, not PV, KMT pink. What? Where are they at? This is going to go a lot quicker if you can just tell us where they're at. >> All right, I'll show you. I have the similar things that I picked up. >> Ah. >> But >> Ma'am, the coincidence >> Okay. I am happy >> What? >> I didn't take them. I have jewelry exactly like what I looked at. I'm happy to give you my set. >> [laughter] >> All righty. >> So, these I had. >> Okay. >> But if and I did pick those up and I looked at them to check the price. >> And then you left without paying for it. >> No, I put them back on the rack, but I don't remember putting them in my purse. I have that same set. >> See how this doesn't make sense? You put them back on the rack, but these earrings fell into five zippers into your bag? >> So, I was later I was putting on jewelry and I put >> Where is the bracelets? They're missing bracelets as well. Those bracelets. >> Okay, well, I priced that same bracelet. >> Oh, oh, you just happen to have this one, too? >> This in my bag. This is >> That's the one they're they're missing. >> Okay, I >> Ma'am, let's just let's be honest, okay? You already have the arm of the police. You're Just be honest. What happened? >> She can't be honest. >> If you made a mistake, you made a mistake. >> Okay. >> Just tell us what happened. Be honest. >> I just put that I made a mistake. >> a mistake and what happened? You made a mistake and did what? You Did you take something that didn't belong to you? >> I didn't think I had, but >> You're you're a grown woman. >> I >> didn't think I had. >> say yes, I'm a grown up. I've been up 36 hours on call. >> Okay. We don't need the excuses. >> just say um I didn't know I was taking them. >> You're going to Kansas? >> Yes. >> Which South Kansas? All right, turn around. Yeah. Okay. Well, you said you're going to miss your flight. You're going to jail, Sharon. >> There's a national average that people that drive impaired have driven impaired approximately 80 times per year. And that they've done it tons of times before they're ever caught for the first time. I believe with this particular suspect her stealing or committing shoplifting, committing theft is probably the same thing. She's probably done this before. This is just the first time that she's got caught. And if she is indeed a doctor uh she might use that as a way to try to defer attention from her with law enforcement thinking, ah she's a doctor. She couldn't She wouldn't be stealing stuff. But now with video evidence, it makes it different. But it's possible she's done this before. She just hasn't been caught until now till she committed this theft in the airport with cameras everywhere and a great law enforcement agency behind them. Yeah, Sharon. >> Can I pack myself up? >> We will do it for you. No, you can't cuz you're in handcuffs. Cuz you're under arrest, Sharon. >> My computer needs to be packed. >> Everything that you took Well, not everything you took. >> You have to put the on. >> Yes. >> You're under arrest. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, it's part of being under arrest. >> But we can go stand over here. >> That's okay. I want to make sure I'm >> Okay, you don't get to decide anymore, okay? >> Okay. Okay. All right. >> We going to go stand over here. >> Am I leaving the airport? >> Uh so right now you'll go to the GW Airport jail to the south of the airport and then you'll be arraigned from there. Either you get transported You go to Tarrant County and make make bond there. >> Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, great guy. >> That was not true. >> Well, I said maybe. And then you didn't even give us the stuff back. Like I have to find it. And then you you lied until the end. >> I found it for you. I honestly I was pricing what I have at home or in my big suitcase and >> Okay, well so let me say so right now I'm not going to ask you any more questions about it cuz you're in custody, okay? So if you want to talk to me about it, I'll read you your rights and we can go >> I would just say just read her rights. I love that the officer that's doing this investigation absolutely understands and is properly applying the philosophy and the laws and policies behind the Miranda. Miranda rights and being read Miranda. He's talking to her, she's not in custody. They're talking about a crime that he believes that she may have been committed, but she's not under arrest. Absolutely fine. That post or the pre-arrest conversation is not doesn't need to be read Miranda. He puts her in cuffs and she is talking, but he is not asking her specific questions about a crime to which he believes she committed. Those statements are also they're voluntary. She it's like an excited utterance. She can talk and as long as she's talking and he's not prompting her, those are all good statements. Once he wants to ask her questions about a crime to which he believes she committed and that she is under arrest and not free to go, then he realizes, "Hey, if I'm going to ask you any more questions, I'm going to read you Miranda." He does it absolutely perfect, and not all cops do. Not There are old school cops that may not understand it. There's new cops that that don't understand it or read it too soon or too late or too often. This officer does it perfect. >> Uh if y'all want to do that, I'll do the store portion. >> Yeah. >> Welcome. Are these your items? >> Oh, yeah. Where did you get, sir? >> [laughter] >> From the lady. >> Thank you. The second lady, sir. >> lady, sir. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> What the heck is that little tag? Oh, man. >> She was charged with theft of property. Great video by NY Detective. Not good for body cam bingo. So, we didn't get anything. She just She didn't She talked a lot. There was a lot of word salad, but nothing nothing that ended up on the card. So, what always hits is being a member. So, if you click here, you can join the channel and be a member.
