resistance you tricked me into opening
the door you lied okay you lied you
lied hey
hey I can shoot your dog grab him
you trying to act all who the you think
you are you have the right to remain
silent you should have told me all of
that before you asked me any questions
so you that up already I'm going kill
you all one by one that's true story
when police in St George Utah respond to
a 911 hang-up call in a sleepy Suburban
neighborhood they're caught off guard by
how quickly things spin out of control
what happened on may3rd 2018 won't soon
be forgotten by any of the participants
who were there first on the scene as
officer Jared Carlson of the St George
Police Department he attempts to make
contact but when he hears an ongoing
dispute inside the house he pauses to a
prize dispatch of the situation it's not
long however before the situation comes
to him IU has obtained an exclusive
interview with Willie Mosher a key
player in the incident that occurred
early that spring morning he was able to
provide his perspective on how the
unsettling events played out so I had
went over to a girl's house we had been
drinking we got to a point that night
and and said I want to go home she I'm
not taking you home you control five
Charlie there's some yelling going on
doesn't sound physical hey
stop get
outside I want
him get out stop come here come here all
right just calm down dude this girl is
Jack up okay come here come here champ
all right we're code four kind of for
now I still keep coming Cod please oh my
God she's jacked up dude this girl is so
whack okay can you get your dog yeah I
got him all right I'm code for now we're
up dude the situation seems well under
control and officer Carlson tells his
dispatcher as much on the radio however
with the arrival of Officer Joseph diam
the facade of calm
shatters
I can shoot your dog grab him grab him
shoot sh and they had their guns drawn
on the whole time they had their guns
drawn on me to be honest and I'm trying
to contain champ I'm yelling I'm champ
he came around I said champ lay down
champ laid down on the grass everything
was cool after delivering a menacing
round of threats at the officers champ
the German Shepherd seems to be subdued
and ready to obey his owner's
orders issue I'll keep the dog I'll keep
the
dog I'm
going and one of them officers plugged
him with the taser they plugged him he
gets up he bust he bursts through the
taser and he kicks off running down the
road and I'm in shock I don't even know
I thought did they shoot him with a gun
like did you just shoot my dog I'm I'm
confused and they're
like they started going nuts I said did
you
really obviously scared out of his mind
he ran and he just started running
through the neighborhood sit down right
now
BR come on bro sit down right now I got
you st sit down right now I got you sit
sit down on the ground camera fell
you're lucky your dog didn't get killed
no no we gave you plenty of
opportunities to get that dog yeah but
I'm I'm telling you I just about shot
you dog came this close to freaking
shooting it you need to control that
thing what the is wrong with you
whatever the reason my have been for the
woman to call 911 in the first place
it's clear now that the only thing she
and her friend are worried about is the
safety of their dog Jessica the woman of
the house who was the original 911
caller is not impressed with the way
police have handled things thus far but
it's
called get over there and sit down
deployed
on we could have killed your dog you
know that right it's not my I don't care
we guess what it could have killed you
too okay well it didn't
well that's too bad ma'am sit down sit
where stamp I'm not we're going to stay
right here no I'm not ma'am you're
detained right now you hear me CH have a
seat how am I detained have a seat
where's champ have a seat Jessica goes
back into the house while officers
Carlson and diam stay outside to
question her friend Willie his concern
over the dogs whereabouts becomes
irritating to the officers where Sam I I
I I told you I didn't want you stop
what's going on here nothing nothing
were you guys fighting no but where's
champ at I don't know here's the thing
when I get here I hear her yelling at
you to get out of the house she comes to
the door and then you grab her and pull
her away from the door no man I'm trying
to get champ man no I could have shot
your dog at the door when it came at me
and bit at me he could have shot your
dog there we're not talking about the
dog anymore do you understand well I'm
not trying to fight with y'all man but
where's my dog man your dog's gone we're
not talking about the dog are are you
going to talk to me about what happened
in here yeah absolutely what happened in
there I I'm not trying to do nothing in
there we everything's fine man what
happened inside the house there's
nothing inside the
house what's her relationship to you
best friend best friend girlfriend best
friend do you date her what's the deal
we were friends we can go in there and
you can see what's going on what's your
relationship to her listen hold on I'm
not going to tell you to get up no
stop
[Applause]
you're you're under arrest okay stop
resisting hey let's go yes get on the
ground yes get on the
ground
yes another unit you're under rest stop
resisting okay yes I got
yes stop resisting put your hands behind
your back don't you come outside yes
don't you come outside I didn't do
nothing
J stop resisting
stay
stop out of
here stop
res just get around of here just get
around of here
a new officer on The Scene goes to the
door to have a conversation with Jessica
what are you doing J get
around I didn't do nothing I didn't do
nothing J got
male verbally combed female she's
inside I'm not going to talk to you till
you
call okay what's your
question
I just got
here okay I just got here I'm
you I'll find that out for you in a
sec
okay okay I'll tell you in a
minute can't give you any answers until
this is under control okay let them do
that
rela let them do what they're doing
[Music]
don't if you don't know
what's how
about your
down and then one of the people that
does know what they're doing can come
and explain it to well that's just not
how it's going to work I know it's funny
huh it's called I don't know using your
brain has nothing
I
am okay up pleas while it may seem
unusual to call the cops when you're
speaking to one Jessica makes good on
her promise the next time we hear her
she's on the phone to 911 I have three
stop [ __ ] tou control 101 I'm
fine touch me D did call in on
9911 she call dude are you kid
me
stop no right now she's calling the
police she told me and I'm just
wondering if she's call down on 911 just
almost shot a dog thank you like I am
not okay with this you guys probably
coming standing at the door with her
she's quite disorderly so why did you
call 911 cuz it's not an emergency the
cops are
here no the cops are here accident I
guess so you recognize that the police
are here I guess it's I made an accident
and then a dog
don't
okay will you talk to me so I don't have
to do this through the door I'm talking
to you I don't want to yell through a
door the door okay have rights I'm going
to at least going to keep those Jessica
seems firm in her commitment to keep the
door closed unfortunately when she
decides otherwise things take a nasty
turn don't do this come outside stop no
you're underr you are underr right now I
already have you anyway are you serious
Joe tell him to step it up stop
resisting are you are you stop resisting
let's go you told me to open the door so
I can talk to you I didn't go
outside I didn't go outside I
didn't what I didn't go outside you said
open the door so I could talk to you
it's okay cuz I had PC to arrest you
anyway from earlier what don't resist
don't resist you're going to get hurt
what am I getting arrested for failure
to stop at the command an officer you
were detained I had a lot for to DET you
and 911 abuse 911 abuse yeah we're going
to stand you up are you going to stand
up ma'am you going to stand up y are you
going to stand up yeah okay no more
fighting okay no more fighting are you
joking me I had the door shut okay you
tricked me into opening the door you
lied okay you lied you lied you said if
I open the door I can talk I need to
lock my house and cut my stuff up okay
okay thank than so we can walk back
there
and no I'm not getting in the car until
I loed my house up no I'm not see no I'm
not we Lo wait we'll see we we'll do
that later Jessica's been safely secured
in a patrol car but she's not done
giving the officers a piece of her mind
you told me to open the door to talk to
you and then I barely opened it not
enough for you to even get me out and
you pulled the door open and dragged me
out secondly I was never told I was
being under arrest by chasing after the
dog this is
all okay are you going to talk to me or
you just going to yell at me I'm going
to tell you how I feel I'll come back
when you're calm I'm calm go
ahead
okay I want to ask you a couple
questions real quick though what is your
guy yours and Willy's relationship we're
friends has he been living here for a
bit no oh cuz he told me different
that's why I was asking you guys are
just you guys are friends but he hasn't
been living here for a bit no okay and I
didn't do anything wrong and I just was
worried about the dog and nobody said if
you check on the dog you're going to get
under arrest okay and you didn't say if
I open the door to try to talk to you so
that you could hear me better that you
were going to drag me out of it and
arrest me for what arrest me for what
the reason you were arrested right here
is how you came out aggressively out of
the door I did not come out aggressively
I barely even opened the door this claim
that Jessica is being arrested for
coming out of the door aggressively is
baffling it's possible that his report
will describe the interaction as an
assault as coming out of a door
aggressively isn't a valid reason to
arrest someone okay number two that's
number
two I opened the door like 2 in all
right just just calm down for a minute
opening the door for two
in
okay you open the door and remember what
I told you about 911 abuse the police
were here and you called 911 officer
Carlson informed you to stop while you
were running away because he was
investigating an incident you did not
stop you kept going and slammed the door
in his face slammed the door in his face
when he was dealing with Willie outside
he was dealing with Willie I didn't slam
the door in anybody's face he was
dealing with somebody else I went inside
my house is that illegal well when an
officer tells you to stop yes he didn't
tell me to stop sit down ma'am you're
detained right now you hear me how am I
just have a seat where's champ have a
seat not that I heard I was worried
about the dog I understand that I didn't
do anything wrong do you want to tell me
what happened tonight before we
arrived do you want to tell me about
that is there going to make any
difference
of course it does how is that well first
let me ask you I want to ask you one
question it wasn't a 911 call a fake 911
call so if that's all I'm getting
arrested for then you can let me go now
medically are you okay I don't know you
don't know what do you mean because I'm
not a [ __ ] doctor okay are you but
you know how you feel right like you can
tell something's wrong do you yeah when
something's wrong with me I can tell
something's wrong you can yeah you have
feelings you don't have feelings right
now is that due to your intoxication
level
I was just thinking it was due to your
lack of empathy well we'll we'll get you
probably have to take you down to the
hospital and get some tests done then
and then uh before you go out to well
because I don't know if you're
physically hurt at all because you won't
tell me I'm fine okay well that was my
question do you want to tell me about
what led up to us getting called here
today we got into a fight I asked him to
leave and he wouldn't leave can you be
more specific about the fight I first
tried to call a taxi they said they
couldn't pick him up because he had a
German Shepherd so then I called 911 and
asked them to come get him and he got
upset and started freaking out so I hung
up the phone this isn't quite consistent
with Will's account when she called The
Cab Company the cab company apparently
heard yelling and screaming and
apparently they called the cop okay he
started freaking out what did he do was
it just yelling yeah just like being
upset like don't call the cops so me
don't call the cops on me and they said
okay fine I just want you to leave
anything else that happened then the cop
showed up he came outside I saw the dog
like getting hurt and I felt bad for the
dog so I want to ask you some other
questions okay but I want to advise you
of your rights really quick all right
you have the right to remain silent you
should have told me all of that before
you asked me any questions okay so you
that up already so duly noting Jessica's
commentary on his police work the
officer nonetheless goes on to provid
her with a full reading of her Miranda
rights it must be said that Jessica does
raise an interesting point based on a US
Supreme Court decision it was held that
the term interrogation under Miranda
refers not only to express questioning
but also to any words or actions on the
part of the police that the police
should know are reasonably likely to
elicit an incriminating response from
the suspect however just because police
ask questions doesn't necessarily
implicate Miranda rights it's the nature
of those questions that has to be
considered in this case Jessica was
asked at least one question that was
likely designed to elicit an
incriminating response and therefore she
should have been mirandized prior do you
understand all those are you exercising
your right to be silent now is that
you're just not going to talk to me now
let's belt her in she doesn't want to
talk you want to go get slide her to
this side she s over there so what if I
you need to slide to so what if I say
yes I understand my rights you're not
going to Belt me in no I just we're done
talking we're going to Fantastic because
I can't stand the sound of your voice
hey okay good slide over slide over
can't stand the sound of yours either
and your other hey don't fine I cannot
believe I'm getting arrested for opening
the door for 2 Ines because the cop told
me to okay watch your El Jessica may be
abrasive but she's not wrong to question
her arrest and this was touched on
previously an officer yanking a suspect
out of their home could be deemed a
violation of the Fourth Amendment there
are limited circumstances however in
which police have the right to arrest
the suspect in this way including the
pursuit of a fleeing criminal and
whether it's an after theact
justification or not not officer Carlson
is correct when he says he'd ordered her
to stay put before she fled into the
house Jessica's finally squared away in
any event giving us a chance to visit
with Willie who's adamant that he did
nothing to deserve the arrest before the
day is through Will's fears of going
back to prison lead him to plead
negotiate and offer monetary bribes to
the officers let's find out if any of
these tactics work when used against the
men of the St George Police Department
you okay yeah I'm good okay I just want
to sh you were knocking your head or
knocking list man listen man what's up
knock that off man what I didn't do okay
I didn't do a goddamn thing well I'd
like to talk to you about it but you
don't want to talk to me about it I I I
want to talk to you Mane man before I
talk to you are you okay answering
questions yeah I didn't do a goddamn
thing I just want to make sure cuz those
mirander rites I read to you you you
understood those right yeah okay so
you're okay talking to me about what
happened this morning yeah why did we
get called here I don't know why anybody
got called here what what was going on
at the house before we showed up what am
I doing I didn't do nothing so William
we got the ambulance here they're going
to check you out here really quick since
you're bleeding from your ear okay no
man I'm good I got you no just stay I
got you no hell no sit touch me man come
on come on they're going to look at you
from right here and make sure that
everything's okay but you can't get out
of the car you going to really book me
for what so just let these guys talk to
you let them look at you are you going
to cause problems hell no come on man
well they need to look at your ear
you're bleeding on this side let them
look at it fine I'm fine I'm totally
fine I understand meanwhile St George
police Lieutenant Joseph Hartman arrives
at the scene to get the lowdown on the
situation from the responding officers
everybody good no dog bites no we almost
killed that dog 17 times but late on me
he's detained he uh gets up to go back
in I when I show up I get there I see
them physically fighting at the door he
comes out with the dog German steer
nearly F me in the arm but I'm like get
your dog we get him detained we get him
over here he's not really cooperating he
gets up to go 4 order told him multiple
times to sit there I grab him start
fighting with him grabs my shirt rips my
shirt swings his arm at me so I punch
him in the ear get him get him good old
straight and then we were able to get
him on am I the only one that's 84 after
being examined by medical personnel on
the scene Willie speaks to officer
Williams about his role in the days
events I a godamn thing now my officer
tells me something different okay my
officer tells me you fought him this
girl like she was just acting [ __ ]
crazy dude Jess Jessica oh my god dude
never
so dude I was just like hanging it out
dude I swear to God I said leave me
alone and she came out and she's like
you're not leaving I said what the [ __ ]
are you talking about I said get the
away from me I swear to god dude as a
brother bro and I tried to leave and she
said I'm going to call the gos that was
it and then we showed up and then what
happened that's it that's it how did my
officer how did my officer get his shirt
torn how did that happen I mean dude you
understand be a man tell me what
happened I'm just saying when somebody's
coming at me I'm just like [ __ ] dude I'm
trying to get away you know I'm saying
but you recognized he was a police
officer correct I Willie come on now
you've been around the
block you did well I mean that's kind of
that's where to dude well that's where
you screwed up man you recognize he was
cop he told you to stop you kept coming
and then the fight was on you guys are
really doing me like this how am I
supposed to you assaulted my officer man
n i I don't do that man Willie has given
himself very few outs but as we'll see
in the footage to come Willie isn't the
type to give up in the face of
insurmountable odds before he dips into
his bag of tricks though he tries to get
some information about his missing dog
listen man that's my boy man I got you
this me up man you understand that right
like don't look at me like a criminal I
didn't do I'm not man I'm trying to
understand what's going on here too so
where's my dog at man we'll see what we
can do to find your dog okay where's my
dog at man Hey listen come on man your
dog took off my dog is my boy your dog
took off we'll see what we can do to
find him okay but we got to get you
settled before we can do that I'm going
to prison homeboy okay can we get you
settled then we'll go look for your dog
does that sound fair no you you get my
dog and then we going to talk I don't
need to talk to you I just need to get
you taken care of and then we'll go look
for your dog I didn't bro okay what
we're going to do is move you car
vehicles okay no I need my dog back here
man that's not going to happen trying to
act all you give a with who the you
think you are I'm nobody yeah exactly
you know who the I
amck I'm will get back in the car please
you get back in the car for me don't act
you're not better than him
don't have okay Willie is introduced to
officer Vincent Lusk who'll be escorting
him to jail Willie instantly tries to
develop a rapport with officer Lusk
perhaps sensing that with the right
degree of persuasion he can convince the
officer to drop him off at his house
what's up V how are you today man man
I'll tell you what big dog this is crazy
because I'm off Ro I'm done bro you know
what I'm saying like they doing that
they doing me like I didn't do [ __ ] man
you know what I'm saying like it's up
bro because I didn't do a goddamn thing
besides tell this I didn't want to do
[ __ ] with her you know what I'm saying
you're innocent yeah but I mean I'm I'm
a pro homie I teach half these cities I
teach half these kids bro I'm a
worldwide athlete bro you understand
that like I'm a worldwide athlete as it
turns out Willie Mosher isn't lying he
has a history playing incaa division one
baseball along with several years in the
independent leagues however he isn't as
interested in chatting about his
baseball career as he is in finding a
way out of trouble I didn't do bro you
know what I'm saying like that's up bro
let me go please let me go please man
come on man let me go please please let
me go let me go be do come on now I
didn't do n hey let me go man I got a
house and man
I didn't do a goddamn
thing y'all taking me to chill man I'm
not talking man man if you ain't going
to let me go then don't talk to me if
you ain't doing it you ain't doing it
you ain't doing it huh you ain't doing
it n yeah all right go [ __ ] talk to me
homeboy let [ __ ] up it's [ __ ] up
nice job you rat hey rat boy I'll come
get you trust me I'll come get you with
Willy's conversation with officer Lusk
veering into very questionable territory
it seems that he'll have to reconsider
his approach in the meantime Jessica is
having far less success and engaging
with officer Olsen who's escorting her
to jail sir can you not hear me sir
officer you hear can you hear me here
too
101 whether officer Olsen is genuinely
unable to hear Jess Jessica or merely
ignoring her isn't clear but she's
having no luck with her questions in the
meantime Will's not happy that officer
Lusk has shut the talking screen pull
the screen back dude that's dude all
right we going to get ugly we going to
get
ugly all right we going to get ugly you
know who the I am we going get ugly big
dog we going to get ugly we going to get
ugly boy stop that man hey stop dude
stop dude I just want to with you Ben to
I just want to I want to talk to you
like a friend man I didn't do Wily's
attempts to get ugly don't amount to
much so he decides that friendliness
might be more profitable and speaking of
profit Willie lets officer Lusk know
that he is a man of means n man let me
tell you what I do bro I teach half this
city my whole life is done okay I'm I'm
a baseball hitting instructor I'm a I'm
a multi-millionaire type guy I went over
to this girl's house and she turned on
me dude I have a big mansion on me I run
this
town you feel me I make $100,000 a year
old boy you know what I'm saying like my
life yeah no I teach kids I make
$200,000 a year as will he tries to get
the story straight in regards to his
income it becomes quickly clear that
he's not just bragging for the sake of
impressing officer Lusk come on dog take
me home and drop me off please like like
let hear me take me home and drop me off
I'll give you th000 bucks right
now I'll give you $5,000 right now you
take me on drop me up you feel me I I'll
give you 5G right now officer lus
declines the bribe which eventually
leads Willie to go back to his least
advisable tactic that of trying to scare
Lusk into letting him go free I'm coming
back spray I'm going da you right now I
hope you ain't no way when I come back
in 3 years I'm going shoot every one up
trust me hey you already took four years
of my life on it you going to be like oh
my God will did it yeah I'm done dude I
am a multi-millionaire dog you guys did
it one too many times you GNA hear it
right now you me up one too many times
good night you think I'm crazy too watch
you going to be like oh will he said
that yeah I'm going right back to prison
immediately I'mma kill y'all trust me
I'm going kill y'all you hear what I'm
saying I'm coming and I'm going to kill
y'all I'm going to kill y'all one by one
that's true story while officer Lusk
Digest Wily's threats let's check back
in with Jessica who's still trying to
make contact with the cop taking her to
jail can I be told what I'm being
charged
it hello
sir
sir
officer
sir
sir do you know what exactly I'm to be
charged with or not
sir
officer are you not allowed to talk or
what still no success as for Willie his
threats of mass murder haven't resulted
in his release but he does get one bit
of good news before getting handed over
to the guards at jail I didn't my dog
y'all took my
dog
huh
where man my
boy um man sadly whatever relief Willie
gets from the news of Champ's recovery
is short-lived when officer Lusk finally
delivers him to jail he lets loose with
a few more threats I want to talk to
[Music]
Y popping that you ain't baby me you
ain't baby me open the up I'm pissed now
you you're a punk dude you're really
that big of a funk you ain't doing for
me dude no you're a punk dude I didn't
do I didn't do a goddamn thing I didn't
do a goddamn thing you know it man I'm
coming at I'm going to kill y'all man
trust me trust me like y'all didn't want
to in turn us
bro come open my door d I'll see you in
3 years
dog I'll see you in 3 years though this
was the last of will moser's threats on
camera it was apparently not the last he
would deliver in his police report
officer Lusk said that he visited Willie
and Jessica in the Washington County
Jail the next day he brought with him a
vicious animal letter that recommended
that champ the German Shepherd be put to
sleep according to Lusk Willie stated
that he would kill anyone involved if
his dog was put down fortunately things
didn't come to that in a statement on
May 25th 2018 St George Mayor John Pike
announced that after obtaining reviews
from several independent animal behavior
experts the city had decided to give
champ a second chance of course
according to Willie there was much more
to the story of how champ was spared
than the pardon cited in the statement
they said they brought in three experts
and they deemed champ vicious they put
champ in a box in a kennel never even
hardly let him out he just sat back
there scared out of his mind they deemed
him to be euthanized people started kind
of hearing the story the officer
actually tried to say that he B him and
then he changed his story and said no he
didn't buy me but I guess the video went
viral there was a bunch of people that
were like no this isn't right that dog
didn't do nothing he doesn't deserve to
die and the city theyed to just push it
through and kill him well a lawyer out
of Bountiful Utah saw a whole of the
story heard about it and said no no no
no and he actually by the grace of God
he said I'll take his case but didn't
know this guy he stopped The Killing at
9:30 that morning he was supposed to 11
according to Willie additional experts
evaluated champ and found that he wasn't
vicious he was just scared during the
course of the interview Willie also shed
some light on the relationship he and
champ shared it seems they were faded to
be together champ was champ was
everything I don't have kids and so
champ I got champ when he was actually
six weeks old I spent every day with
champ we ran in the Hills every day and
he was everything he everyone that knew
me knew champ he went everywhere I went
everybody knew him he would do anything
to protect me sadly champ the German
Shepherd died in the summer of
2023 I died in August I went away for
two days that I went down to watch some
of my players play in the Little League
World Series the people that were
watching him said that he was just
moping around I said take him to the
hills then cuz that was his spot we
would run for for hours they said that
he went up to jump in to get in my truck
and he put his paws up on my truck and
then he just laid down they called me
back about 10 minutes later and they
said no he's not breathing very good
Willie I said take him to the vet right
now and they went to pick him up he died
right there will he couldn't believe
champ was gone he tells how he went to
see his loyal friend One Last Time to
Say Goodbye that was hysterical it was
hard for me to really believe he was
dead I down with him and he blinked his
eye at me and I said whoa whoa whoa and
then all sudden his tail moved and all
sudden he lifted his paw a little bit
and I said call the bet I said what the
hell is it I'm convinced now that he he
waited for me to get there and I laid
there with for about two hours and I I
walked out and I came back and there was
no movement but when I got home there
was some his soul was inside that body
he moved and he blinked at me and H I
said I'm not I'm not
all and so then I went buried him after
Will's account of his last moments with
champ he was asked if there was a final
message he felt was essential to share
he expressed his concern that perhaps
other dogs could falsely be deemed
aggressive and suffer a much worse fate
than champ did after all if his attorney
hadn't intervened champ likely wouldn't
have gotten a second chance I think they
would kill any dog at any moment and I
don't think they would even take
anything in into consideration like hey
the dog was scared and you did this and
this is I think these people will kill
they tried to kill champ and champ never
even bit him and never ever even had
another a problem before that so I'm
like what's the criteria for a dog to be
killed just if he scares somebody and
that's what was so heinous about it was
they were trying to kill champ and he
never touched him Willie and Jessica
themselves had most of their serious
charges dismissed though Jessica pleaded
guilty to interfering with an arresting
officer for which she was sentenced to
probation and community service Willie
pleaded guilty to the same charge as
well as a charge of intoxication
