legislature or going to, but I can and I am right now. >> So, the reason I established because you were splitting lane. You were diving between two lanes. >> I'm sorry. We were changing channels and stuff. I apologize. >> It's all good. Keep keep your eyes on your seat a little, please. >> Some entitled and power-drunk Republicans act like they can bully their way through life because they suffer from main character syndrome. But what happens when they meet stern officers who won't bend the rules to accommodate their excesses? >> What is the reason you're you're so against what I'm doing? I'm doing my job. You say you're a DA? >> I am the DA. >> Here are several moments when no BS cops, humble, entitled Republicans. Starting with the awful moment officers encountered Jim Lucas, a heavyweight Republican lawmaker who bolted from his crash scene in the middle of the night while armed and heavily intoxicated. >> I mean, you've been drinking. So, that's why we're I'm asking you because we got somebody that's apparently driving around with no tires on a van and then we've got you stumbling around out here. >> I have no van. >> I have 64. >> Okay. Where's it at? >> That's why you see >> your camera on. Yes, it's always on. Y >> turn off. You don't want to say so. >> On May the 31st, 2022, just after midnight, officers were called about a vehicle that had slammed into a guard rail and gone the wrong way on an Interstate 65 ramp near State Road 11. The disturbing information became more bizarre when a Seymour officer found a wrecked 2012 Toyota Tundra with its front end crushed and three tires missing. parked nearly three miles away from the crash site behind a local flooring shop. While the officers were assessing the situation, another officer spotted Lucas walking nearby, but he appeared to be intoxicated. Suspecting that he might have been the rogue and careless driver. He immediately approached him. >> What's your name? >> Jim Lucas. >> Jim Lucas. Where you coming from? >> Just walking. You >> weren't driving a van? >> No, no van. >> No van. You sure? I don't drive a van. >> Okay, let's step over here. Just out for a walk. Mhm. >> Okay. You didn't see a van go by with no tires on it? >> I No van. >> No van. Okay. >> All right. I mean, you've been drinking, so that's why we're I'm asking you because we got somebody that's apparently driving around with no tires on a van. And then we've got you stumbling around out here. >> I have no van. >> Well, it may have looked like he was already lying, which, let's be honest, wasn't exactly shocking for a politician. His vehicle was not a van. It was a truck. But that had nothing on what the officers were about to uncover about him and how alcohol could bring the most carefully hidden secrets out into the open. >> I have 64. >> Okay. Where's it at? >> That's why I'm telling you that. >> See, that's what I'm saying. Right here. >> Got it, Mr. Lucas. >> There's no saying I I I volunteered this. >> I know you did, but I I know I know it is around the chamber. >> It's no good otherwise. >> Going to be in the roadway. Hey, I'm 2A all the way, baby. >> I have just FYI, knife in my back pocket. >> Okay, >> if you don't mind us, >> I appreciate you letting us know. Back pocket right here. >> Oh, that's a nice one. >> A man of taste. >> I know. I like it. I can hear. >> Make sure you register. Ask him about his gun. I'm not going to talk anything. >> We're just standing by for state police. Are you a SIG guy or you a Glock guy? >> He's going to try and go through their post and see if they can get some assistance. >> Both. I didn't know if you had a preference, >> but Sig has grip. There is a Glock in the center console of that truck over there. >> Okay. >> One in the chamber. So, >> nothing illegal. See, I wouldn't expect you to do anything illegal. That'd be shocking. >> Zing, >> but my guy's got a sweet comeback. >> Law is not a barometer. >> Yeah. >> So far so good. I like it. Yeah. Um it's definitely not for everyone cuz I know some guys have gone into it, man. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, that's definitely not for everyone. Are >> you more of the environment shapes who you are or how you're brought up or a little bit of both? >> Environment or upbringing? Mhm. >> Um, again, both ways because you could you could look at a lot of rich kids that have been brought up in the most wonderful environment on earth and they're act. >> Agreed. >> Or you can look at um Anne Frank. That's up to the individual how they choose to see things, >> right? >> And Frank, >> right? >> Okay. She had Okay. She was hunting. She she was at an early age. She never gave up hope. >> Mhm. She saw beauty in the world. >> Right. >> Okay. But then again, you've got your uh your people that have been brought up whose parents are millionaires, billionaires. >> Mhm. >> They're >> Mhm. >> and they don't respect humanity. They don't have morality. So the upbringing has nothing to do with their case. So again, that that's that's a it's a coin toss, >> right? >> And ultimately, it boils down to individual, >> right? That's why I'm asking what what is your opinion? Do you think it's >> the individual? >> You think it's the individual? So, you think it's the upbringing? >> Yes. >> The upbringing was the upbringing. Now we're back to the millionaires. >> Yeah, but I'm asking your opinion. I'm not I'm just a general just a general. It's not black and white. I'm just saying I'm just asking. >> Seems like you're trying to argue with because I'm giving you an answer. >> You're not though. You're I'm I'm just saying. I'm like, do you think you lean more towards the environmental or do you lean more towards upper or you or you're in the middle. It sounds like you're in the middle, right? >> No, it it could be. There is no one answer because you get an Frank in the middle of Nazi Germany, she shines. >> Based on the same standard he had used to judge others, he wasn't exactly measuring up either because now he was on the verge of throwing it all away over drunk driving. a state lawmaker, a Republican state rep that put lives at risk and could have easily sent pedestrians into the afterlife because of his own reckless, drunken choices. >> Cuz Okay, if you want to take the easy way out, take me be a teacher. >> I don't know. This day and age, man, that's a lot of school. >> Is your camera on? >> Yes, it's always on. Yep. >> You turn off cuz I'm going to say something. >> I I >> Okay, you up by not by not checking me. I volunteered my way. >> Yeah. Well, I didn't have to check you yet. And plus, I was standing with you. >> But but you >> I'm not arguing. >> I know >> you. I had a weapon, >> right? >> If I were a bad guy, >> right? >> I had the advantage. >> Yes, I know. >> I'm trained. >> I didn't say you weren't. >> No, no, no. I And I'm not arguing. >> I know that. I always I I don't I don't um >> And see, here's the thing, okay? I I am the biggest supporter of 2A rights. >> Same. >> Everybody has a right. >> Same. >> No, you in this situation, you have a right to be suspicious and ask me if I was carrying or anything. >> Mhm. Well, it's not it's not against the law of carry, right? So, >> nobody pushes that more than, >> right? So, when I asked if you've had anything on you, so that's that's the stage. Now, that gives me where to how to judge you, right? And then you voluntarily told me you had a gun, >> right? But I wasn't I didn't need to pat you down or anything like that just yet because there was three unit. >> Huh? >> Next time you should. >> Yes and no. >> I agree with you. >> Your life. >> I agree with you 100%. But I can't. There are certain things I can or cannot do right off the bat. >> I have to have certain things, certain requirements before I can do such things. >> But you can ask questions. >> Bill, you're right. I >> I get what you're saying. I get what you're saying. No, no, I know. I know you're not help. >> No, I get it. >> In the end, he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, owi, causing endangerment, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash. Lucas was terrible enough on his own, but he was a near miss compared to Charles Schwartner, a Republican Texas senator who tried to deflect responsibility by passing blame onto the road after being caught driving while heavily impaired. Yeah, guys. It's all I'm worried about is the way you all driving is you're splitting lane like literally in the middle of two lanes. >> These lanes are honestly terrible. >> I had anything to drink, sir. >> This alcohol smell coming from you. >> Yes, I have not had anything to drink. >> On the 7th of February, 2023 at around 12:45 a.m. An officer pulled over a black Cadillac in Hyde Park, Austin, after was seen swerving and straddling two lanes. The officers had already observed that something was off. But when the officer got closer to the vehicle, he didn't expect the driver to be a man who was part of the law makingaking process and was expected to obey them. >> All right. How you all doing? >> Good. >> How are you, sir? >> Good. So, the reason I established because you were splitting lane. You were diving between two lanes. >> I'm sorry. We were changing channels and stuff. I apologize. >> It's all good. Keep keep your eyes on the steering wheel, please. Where youall coming from tonight? >> We were out just um over at I was picking her up at the airport and then we went out to Dur. that. >> Okay, cool. Do you have a driver's license and approve officials? >> This is actually my place. >> Yeah, this is where she lives. >> Yeah, I get it. It's all I'm worried about the way you all driving is your splitting lane like literally in the middle of two lanes. >> These lanes are honestly terrible. >> Is the lane full? >> Well, they're super narrow. >> Yeah, they are. >> But you all were taking the whole street pretty much. I have it on camera, but like you're driving in the middle of the two lanes. >> I'm sorry. We didn't notice that. I'm so sorry. >> No, it's all good. They are now both identified as Charles Schwartner, a Republican Texas senator, and his female counterpart who was identified as state representative Claudia Ordazz from El Paso. They both knew the truth about the driving was ugly, but perhaps because of their impaired minds, their lies weren't convincing, which was uncommon for a seasoned politician. >> Nice thing you're doing. Cool. >> Is that your car? >> Yes, sir. >> You have insurance? >> Yes. Okay. >> Can I show you? >> Yes. Progressive. I'm not sure. I have it on. You want to sit outside for a second? >> Oh, sure. >> So, here's the deal, man. I have a strong smell of alcohol coming from your brain. And you tell me that you didn't drink anything. >> No. >> So, you lied to me because there was some smell, strong smell coming from you >> that you were drinking tonight. And the way we were driving is consistent with someone who was drinking. Okay. So, let's try again one more time. Come against you tonight. >> I haven't had anything to drink, sir. >> This alcohol is not coming from you. >> Yes, I have anything to drink. >> Okay, cool. Just stick your mark for a second. Hello. >> How you doing, Sergeant? >> Uh, I'm going to set up somewhere for a second. >> Yeah, you mind staying here with my sergeant for a second? >> Just get just get by my vehicle. Let's have some conversation. I have a couple questions to ask you. and >> we'll be doing some testing. Make sure that there's no alcohol involved like we were saying and we'll go from there. Okay. >> Let's go buy the spotlight by control vehicle. Stand there for me, please. The spotlight. >> Spotlight. >> Yeah. I'm going to just check you very quick. Make sure you don't have any weapon or anything like that. Put your hand back >> just because I'll be in a very close proximity with you. I need to make sure that you don't have any weapon on you. >> So again, where you coming from tonight? >> Waterburger. >> Which one? >> Picked her up at the airport. One on. >> Which one? >> In Guadaloop. >> Okay. And where you going? >> Right there. I'm dropping her off in our house. >> Okay. Without looking at your watch, approximately. What time is it now? >> About 1:00. >> Okay. About one time. Can you approximate your location right now? Where you at? >> Yeah. 45th Street and Avenue B. >> Okay. scale from zero being 100% sober, 10 being the most intoxicated you ever. What do you think you are on this scale? >> I'm sober. >> Zero to 10. >> Zero. >> Zero. Okay. >> The officer eventually allowed the senator to clear things up by taking a field sobriety test to confirm what he was already starting to suspect. >> Just stand right here for me, please. >> What do you want to stand? >> Yeah, just stand right here. Oh, >> so you see this thick wide line that goes straight. I want you to go ahead and place your left foot on the line. Okay. And then go ahead and place your right foot in front of it with heel touch and toe. >> Okay. Heel touch and toe. >> No, no. I didn't tell it to walk. Just place your left foot on the line. >> Okay. >> Just follow my instructions. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> Place your left foot on the line. >> Mhm. >> Then you place uh place your right foot in front of it with heel touch and toe and put both your hands on your sides just like that. >> Like that. >> Okay. Okay. I didn't instruct you to stop, sir. Just go back to a stand position. Just follow my instructions, please. >> Sorry. >> You're good. Just It's all about paying attention to the instructions. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> For purpose of demonstration, I'll be doing three. You'll be doing nine. It will look like the following. >> One, two, three, all the way to nine. You keep your lead foot on the ground. Take serious small steps with your back foot. Come back with another ninehill to steps. One, two, three. Again, all the way to nine. Now, I want you to keep your eyes on your foot all the time. Keep your hands on your sides. Count out loud what step you taking. And once you start, do not stop to completely done. Did you understood my instructions? >> Yes. >> Do you have any questions? >> No. >> Over me begin, sir. >> Okay. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 nine. Can you do it again? >> As I instructed you, sir. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. Officer, is that good? >> Yes, sir. Uh, last exercise. We're almost done here. Go ahead and stand right here. Have face me. >> Soon, an unexpected person showed up at the scene and almost threw the whole DUI investigation off track. The officers, on the other hand, held their ground. They knew what they had seen, and there was no way that they were letting a drunk driver, politician or not, walk away and become a danger to everybody else on that road. >> Belinda. Blinda. She's an attorney. What' you say? >> Go ahead. >> Are you ready for my instructions? >> I am >> for the last time. >> Yeah. >> Put your feet together, your hands on your side. Now, did you understood? >> Yeah. How many do you want me to count to? >> Tell till I tell to stop. Okay. You ready? All right. You may begin. >> 1001,002003. >> Hands on your sides. 1005,006. Would that be enough? >> I told you. Till I tell it to stop, sir. >> That's sufficient. Is it on? >> No, it's not. Keep going. >> How many times do you want me to do this? >> Till I tell it to stop, sir. 100 10002 1003 1004 1005 1006 1007 1008 >> Are you done yet officer? >> No sir, keep going. >> Officer. >> Yes, sir. >> This is getting to be a interrogation. >> It's really not interrogation. >> Yes, sir. >> All I'm trying to do is test your ability to follow instructions. It's standardized by test. >> Follow your instructions multiple. >> Well, it doesn't seems like it here. >> We made a determination and may go. >> Okay. So, would you finish this exercise or not, sir? >> Again, I've done it multiple times. >> Okay, cool. So, you So, you done here? >> I've done it. I'll do it one more time if you like to, but I will. >> I want you to do the whole complete exercise. So, if you wish to continue, >> you do stop. >> It's up to me to tell you. You don't need to follow up. >> You're a trained seal and you're acting inappropriately and being a individual that is not. So that is what the Nitsson manual tells us to do, sir. >> How many seconds? I I don't know. >> I will let you know once you're done. >> Okay. >> All right. You want me to begin, sir? >> Mhm. >> 10001,0023 104 105. >> His protest was baseless and the officers could see rise through it. Schwartner was agitated and likely trying to derail the process and perhaps he would have gotten away with it if the cops were a little lenient. while he was a lawmaker. They were going to teach him that it was their role to enforce the law. >> Hey sir, sir, please please just hang out with me for a second. >> We're just trying to follow protocol like we always do. It's a standardized thing. So, it has to be the same. Not trying to treat anybody any different. It's a standardized thing. If if uh we stopped anybody for a traffic stop and their wife or try to like talk, this just not my policy. We can't have people just come to the scene and stop talking. So, as soon as we're done, by all means, yes. So, so what I have here is a preliminary breath test. What it does, it detects the presence of alcohol on your person. It's completely voluntary. >> It is not admissible in court, right? >> And it is not used to make any kind of arrest decision. >> Is this something that you would like to take? >> Okay. >> Let me go. Put your hands behind your back, sir. Please, >> is there anything inside your boot? >> No, sir. >> That would be great, man. Just just be comfortable taking me to jail. Go ahead. Step. I'm step on it. just really want to take them. >> They will take them off in jail anyway. So, it's not like >> strange stuff. I would rather take them off here than deal in jail. >> I'd rather take them off. I mean, I don't mind showing them to you, but may I put my boots back on? >> Sure. >> Absolutely. No problem. >> So, just those boots like have so much space on them, please. >> Cool. Yeah, please. Make sure there's nothing there. You hope you get it all. Is there anywhere I can go in front of my hand? It comes in front. >> No, it's just there's a policy I have to put in, but it's not like I'm going to hurt you guys. I've done so much for you guys. >> Well, I really appreciate it, man. I'm just doing my job. Really, nothing personal. >> No, I understand. >> Despite how polite the arresting officer had been the whole time, he had no idea who he was dealing with. It didn't take long before that reality hit him, followed closely by a wave of entitlement that started spilling out. >> Uh, I need to call the watch commander. Why? Because that's a senator, Texas state senator. And in the legislative session right now, you do everything right. Everybody's treated the same right. You stop me, you're going to treat me the same, right? If I'm intoxicated, you're going to arrest me. It's the same thing. >> So, I I will not be able to put it to the front. It's against policy, but I will add one extra handcuff just to give you enough space. Okay. >> Yeah, that'd be great. It's not so much the space. It's the the tightness around the left wrist. >> I will make sure to So, the P is two fingers. I will make sure that >> Let's get to the front of the vehicle, sir. Sir, get to the front, please. >> So, I will add one more C to you. Okay. >> And again, policy say two fingers. This is more than three fingers space between your hands and and the cuffs. Make sense? I >> I guess sir. One second. Let's keep facing the vehicle, please. More than 250. Okay. >> I hope that's enough space to release the attention. Can you turn on the AC, too, when we get here? >> Cool. I'll give you more AC. >> Yeah, thank you very much. >> No problem, sir. You guys need the seat belt. >> Eventually, she was charged with driving while intoxicated. Speaking of entitled Republicans, meet Ian Smith, who was running for Congress and then got pulled over for a DUI. return struting out with the right foot. >> On March the 27th, 2022, at around midnight, Ian Smith found himself in the parking lot of the Pandora Diner on Route 130 in Cinnamonson, New Jersey, after police had pulled him over for swerving and failing to stay in his lane. While he tried to explain it away as high winds or a death wobble in his truck suspension, officers had already picked up on the signs. Bloodshot eyes, the smell of alcohol, and a story that wasn't really holding together. As soon as I hit my rear circuit, Turn to face you this way. Don't move until one step. We're going to return nine steps. One, two, three. Counting out now with your knees there by your side. Okay. Sure. >> Do this on on some flatter flatter ground. I don't I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but I'm being tested. >> It's fine. I mean, >> I'm doing it up here. >> I don't mean to be 100%. Is this good? Right up here on this part. >> Nine. Nine steps. Count them out. Turn around. Come back. Count all of them right here. >> Start starting out with the right foot. >> Right foot. >> All right. One. >> Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Try to keep them hands down. Eight. Nine. One 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. His slow, dragging approach already raised red flags for the officers. It appeared as though he was buying time, trying to avoid what was already staring everybody in the face. But what made it even harder was his history, because this wasn't new behavior. Back in 2007, he tragically caused a lethal DUI crash that brought the life of a 19-year-old to an awful [music] end. Although it had brought him some years behind bars, this situation meant that he had definitely not learned his lesson. from openly defying CO shutdown orders to getting arrested and placed on probation. And now right back in a familiar spot with the same kind of trouble closing in again. Just based on my observations, okay, I'm just going to take your hands back for me. Okay, >> just another test of the station. >> Just another just >> All right, just relax. Relax. What's up? What's up? >> What's up? >> Why Why are you Why are you taking me in the cup? for driving based off his observations and the the test. All right. So, basically what happens from here is we take it back to the station. There's one more test. >> Okay. What is the test? >> It It's the breath test. We'll explain it to you when we get to the station. Don't tense on me. All right. Just >> I'm not I'm not Mr. Smith. I'm just going >> You're you're you're taking me into custody and I didn't I didn't I didn't fail anything. >> The state of New Jersey does it based off our observation. So, you'll have a chance when we get back to the station, we'll explain it to you, okay? will read this thing to you and you'll you can decide whether or not you want to submit to breath samples. Okay, >> we'll explain that to you when we get back to station. We don't have like a on the roadside like breath wizer to do it. So just off of our observations the way you're driving. What's that? >> But what what observation? >> So my observations from your test from your eyes from your walk and turn and then from your test and and listen I I am not trying to make any trouble. >> I got you. >> You're standing out here on a windy road. You're submitting me the balance test, which I did. >> Did I not do well at? >> I I did not. You did not pass. I think from my perspective, from my observation, >> um >> standing out here on a windy highway, I didn't pass that test that you just gave me. >> I mean, I did it with all this gear on as well. >> You're a trender? >> Okay, I understand that. >> So, you're going to submit me to a breathalyzer test because >> So, bas So, so it's everything in account. You're driving a car off the road. Okay. And then your tests based upon my observations. I reason to believe you're under the you're intoxicated tonight. Okay. >> Too intoxicated to drive the car. That's why we take you back. We read this thing to you. We'll explain it to you when we get back to the station. Just because you're we're out here, like you said, you you have your arguments. You know, that's what court's for. We're not this is it's an accusation. It doesn't mean that you're found guilty here and everything. You get what I'm saying? >> Because of an accusation. >> Correct. Yes. That's how the system works. We don't, you know, this is it's not like we made this up like on our own. Like, you know what I Like I'm not we're just explaining it to you so you understand. I'm not trying to be rude. I'm not, you know, trying to insult you. Anything like that. Like >> I stepped out of the car willingly. I did the test willingly. >> And then now you're going to take me to the station. >> Correct. >> For another test. We'll explain that test. We'll read it to you. We have to read this whole thing to you and you can decide what you want to >> correct. Yeah. And you we can explain that to you. So >> why why can I not be explaining that right now? because it's it reads a whole paragraph to you. He reads it to you and you can decide what you want to do from there. All right. >> But I I'd like to know what it is before I get in your vehicle. >> We'll explain that to you at the station. It's now it's a box. It's a physical box. >> It's not going to make any sense to you, right? Like while we read it to you right here. So it makes sense when we get back to the station cuz we we can explain everything right here. >> Why Why am I being arrested? >> For driving while intoxicated. >> Okay. So you're you're accusing me of >> Correct. Yes. All right. So you want to go first car. In the end, he was charged with DUI and refusing a breathalyzer. Ian Smith was wild, but he was nothing compared to this Oklahoma State rep who got arrested after refusing to leave a bar past legal hours while arguing that he was untouchable and above the rules. >> You've been given ample ample opportunity. >> I was walking away. >> Then you wanted to tell me about how you're a state representative and that we're going to have this conversation tomorrow. >> Hey TJ, they said that they can detain me right now. >> You're not being detained. You're being arrested. You're being arrested. >> Oh, I'm being arrested. TJ. >> On March the 23rd, 2023, at around 2:00 a.m., Oklahoma police spotted a group drinking on a bar patio past the legal cutoff. Within minutes, they had to restrain a man just outside the bar before things could spiral, especially after he had already been warned to leave, but was too impaired to take the hint. >> Give me any weapons, are you? >> What's going on here? You're going to talk to skating on purpose today. >> You've been given ample ample opportunity. >> I was walking away. >> Then you wanted to tell me about how you're a state representative and that we're going to have this conversation tomorrow. He did. And then you want to flap some bad. >> Sir, he did. And first of all, you cannot detain me right now. >> We absolutely can, sir. Will >> Hey, TJ. >> They said that they can detain me right now. >> You're not being detained. You're being arrested. Oh, I'm being arrested, TJ. >> It does not go that way. >> All right. Well, I've got like a bunch of room. I can put I'll put another set of cuffs on. Stop. >> That's what they >> If you want another set of cuffs on to where it's not as tight, don't move. Okay. >> You understand that, sir? >> Yes. >> I don't understand what you guys are doing and why. >> Whenever you want to not listen to simple command, sir. Okay. Well, so the privileges, arrests, speeches or debate, senators and representatives shall except for treason, felony or breach of peace be privileged from arrest during the session of the legislature. >> Correct. >> And in going to and returning from the same. >> Correct. >> And for any speech or debate in either house or shall not be questioned in any other place. >> Correct. >> You're not in the legislature? >> Yes, I am. >> Okay. Well, it's you're not in the state capital right now. You need to >> fine. Call your Call your advisor. Call everyone. Hey TJ. >> TJ. I don't I don't answer to TJ. >> I know you don't have to. But they're going to call >> if you if you instead of talking, if you'll listen for just a minute. Okay. >> So, at this point right now, the way I'm reading it, you're not I'm not arresting you at the state legislature >> or going to or from I can >> and I am right now. So have a seat and I will run it past my supervisor. >> You will. >> I already told you I will. So go ahead and have a seat. >> You walked up to me and just >> I we gave you and your friends ample opportunity to leave. You're remaining at a business that is supposed to be closed and and you're already obviously intoxicated. Have a seat. Put your feet in. >> Okay. Yes, sir. He was identified as Dean Davis, a Republican and Oklahoma State Representative for House District 98. It quickly became clear that he believed his position would put him above the law, an illusion that was already starting to crack and would soon drag him straight into the beginning of an unexpected end. >> Can I ask why you guys rolled up so fast and just like basically bombarded us? >> Is it was 2:12 in the morning? >> Yeah. And you're not, you know, the bars are closed at at 2. There's not supposed to be anybody on the premises at 2:00. >> We go up there and you you're still holding a beer >> along with your your buddies are still drinking and you're not supposed to be. >> Okay. >> My supervisor tells you guys y'all need to go. >> And I put mine down. You continued on. No, you did not. >> Yes, I did. I put it on the table. It's over there, >> Davis. You didn't. You did not until after two different times of telling you that you need to go. >> I put it down. >> Yes, you did. >> And then I started to walk away and then you grab my arm >> because how can I >> Mr. Davis, I'm not going to discuss this any further with you. You tell me of how long you got here, when you walked up, what you said, what you did, and then within 30 seconds, you grabbed my arm cuz it was 44 seconds. In 44 seconds, what do you think's going to happen? You tell me. So, you already made up your mind of what was going to happen, correct? >> His attempt to lean on legislative immunity for public intoxication already showed the kind of person he was. Still, the officers weren't in the clear just yet. This wasn't his first rodeo. He was arrested back in 2019 for DUI, speeding, and obstructing an officer in Broken Arrow, so he knew exactly how these situations played out. But with his position in mind, this time it looked like he believed he could talk and maneuver his way out of this situation. We going >> uh we're going to the county jail. >> For what? >> Public intoxication. >> Uh did you test me for that? >> No. So, how can I be intoxicated if you haven't tested me? Um, what was I drinking? >> Alcohol. >> No. How do you know that? Because it was a coke. >> Okay, dude. I Again, stop with your attorney stuff. You can question >> No, I'm being very serious right now. >> You can question me in court. >> How am I being detained? >> You're being detained. You are arrested. >> Exactly. >> And I don't know how many more times I need to explain to you that yes, you are have alcohol in my cup. It was a Coke. So, please tell me what's truly going on. >> You're a smart guy. >> Yes, I am. >> So, what is truly going on? Officer, what is going on here? >> You're being arrested for public intoxication. >> So, you guys can make up anything you [music] want? >> No. >> Yeah, you did. I'm trying to take care of my friend and I'm the one that gets arrested. This is funny. >> In the end, Davis was arrested and charged with public intoxication, a municipal misdemeanor. And by March 27th, 2023, the Oklahoma House of Representatives had voted 81 to9 to formally censure him for conduct unbecoming, a rare move that even members of his own party supported. And just like that, the fallout caught up with him in a way he could not sidestep. The next case takes us to Monroe County where a district attorney essentially kissed her career goodbye over a routine traffic stop that spiraled way out of control. >> Sorry, I'm the DA. I was going 55 coming forward. >> 55 and a 35. >> I don't really care. >> I am the DA of Monroe County. >> I understand that, but that doesn't give you a right to go 55 and a 35. On April the 22nd, 2024, an officer in Monroe County, New York, realized that he had followed a belligerent driver all the way to her home after she had ignored his lights and sirens. After arriving at the house, the officer confronted the woman who quickly tried to use her position to shield her awful misconduct. >> Sorry, I'm the DA. I was going 55 coming forward. >> 55 and a 35. >> I don't really care. >> Okay, >> so you can call. >> Can you come Can you please come over here? You're on a This is on a traffic stop, ma'am. >> Yes, it is. You can call Dennis Cole Meer right now. >> Okay. I'm telling you why I stopped you. You didn't stop at all. Did you not hear my lights or sirens or anything? >> No, I didn't. Actually, I was on the phone. >> Okay. Well, you're not supposed to be on the phone while you're driving either. >> Yes, I am. With the handsree. Absolutely. >> Okay. Why are you so upset at me? I'm doing my job. You You just admitted to me that you were going 55 and a 35 on Philips Road. >> To leave me alone. It's >> officer Christopher Foley. >> Christopher Foley, >> can you stay over here, ma'am? Your This is a traffic This is This is a legal traffic stop. Do you have your ID? >> No, it's in my purse. Here. >> You have your purse right there? >> No. This is my lunch. Would you talk to your talk to Dennis? This is ridiculous. Just go away. >> Hello, sir. >> Good. Ma'am, can you please stay at the back? This is a Ma'am, this is legal traffic stop. Can you please stay over here? >> No. Hey, baby. Get your little guy out of here. >> Sir, I stopped her for going 55 and a 35 on Phillips Road. >> On Philips Road. >> And she failed to stop. She drove all the way back home and parked in her garage. >> And now she's not she's not complying with any of my commands. Ma'am, do not go inside. >> Oh my god. >> She was later identified as Sandra Dorley, the district attorney of Monroe County, New York. Her attitude showed no regard for the officer or the authority he represented. It was a bad look overall, especially coming from a longtime Republican prosecutor who was expected to know exactly how these stops were handled. >> Yep. All right, ma'am. Come outside. You can't just go inside. This is a traffic stop. >> Here's your phone back. >> I understand the law better than you. Would you >> 953? Can you have a supervisor come to the scene? >> No. Get out of my house. Seriously. >> I don't know why. I don't know why you're acting like this towards me. >> Can you please go to the back of the vehicle? I'm not going to. I'm home. I was going. I was Okay. 50. >> I don't care if you got home. You were supposed to stop at Phillips Road when I pulled you over when my lights were initiated. >> I didn't know you were stopping me. There was lots of other people on the road. >> I was right behind you. >> Yeah, there were other people on the road, too. >> Okay. I was directly behind you. >> I was dealing with you right now. >> Can you please step over here? >> I'm not going to. >> What is the reason you're you're so against what I'm doing? I'm doing my job. You say you're a DA? I am the DA. >> Okay. >> Okay. Let me get you my badge. I am the DA in of New York. >> I just don't understand the hostility towards me. I'm doing my job. >> No, you're being >> How am I being an [ __ ] >> I am the DA of Monroe County. >> I understand that. But that doesn't give you a right to go 55 and a 35. >> And you even admitted to me that you went 50. I understand that, ma'am. I understand that. >> How do you know what? If you give me a traffic ticket, that's fine. I'm the one who prosecutes it. Okay, just go ahead and do it. Go ahead. >> Go ahead. >> I just don't understand the hostility. I understand you're coming home from work. >> You're making And half the time I was on the phone with Dennis telling him, "Why are you pulling me over? >> You're not even supposed to be on the phone to begin with. You should know that." >> Oh. Oh. Oh. I'm handsree. Absolutely. You should know the law. >> Okay. If it is handsree, that's great. But at the end of the day, you were going 55 and a 35. That's 20 miles over the speed limit. >> Okay, you know what? That's fine. You know what I've been dealing with all day? Three in the city. And do you think I really care if I was going 20 m over the speed limit? >> Okay, I'm just doing my job. If you pulled If you pulled over when you saw my lights, which obviously you did? >> I thought you were going somewhere else because I thought no one would ever pull a a black SUV if you ran my plate. >> I didn't run your plate. I just called your plate out. and then I'm following you because you're not stopping. So, I had to take the air from dispatch. >> Just please. >> The hostility and harsh remarks spoke volumes about her. The officer could clearly tell he was being treated unfairly by a superior for doing what was right, but he didn't flinch because sometimes being in a position doesn't always prove someone is worthy of it. >> Just come outside over here. >> No, I'm not going outside. >> Okay. >> I'm waiting for you just to leave. I'm having a supervisor come because that's what my chief told me to do. >> I >> do you have your driver's license? >> I just showed you my driver. >> You show me your You show me your badge. >> Thanks for >> really >> with EMS. A 14-year-old having a seizure. 200 East River Road, apartment 200 on the third >> because I was going 55 up. >> And I was just She's a DA. >> Yep, I know. >> And I was just trying to pull into my driveway. I was on the phone with Dennis Colemire saying, "Would you please tell the person who's following me that I'm almost home?" >> Ma'am, I understand you were going home, but I started my lights back at Phillips Road. >> On Philips Road? Yes, you did. And there were other cars. >> I was right behind you. directly behind you >> at at the end. Go ahead. Like if you want at the end of the day, go ahead. If you want to write me a traffic ticket, that's fine. >> Okay. At the end of the day, >> at the end of the day, I was stopping you for speed. If you just >> had a really bad day. I've been dealing with >> And I get it. And I get it. We have bad days also, ma'am. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> We have bad days also. >> My license back. >> I'm going to just add it to the job real quick. Okay. You want me to do it? [snorts] >> This is a traffic stop and you out of everyone should know that if there's a legal traffic stop, which I have, >> I have the right to detain you until this is done. >> Then just write me the tag app. I really don't care. >> Okay. Well, then just hang out at the back of the car [music] >> because I'm the one that's going to prosecute myself. >> You know what I'll do with the ticket? >> Okay. Just come out here for me and just stand. >> I'm not walking out there. I'm not. I'm not. Hey, baby. You ready? He's a good boy. >> After a short while, a police supervisor arrived at the scene with additional officers, hoping to steer the situation back into a calmer, more cooperative path. >> She was going 55 and 35 on Philip. She didn't stop at all. She decided to drive home, called the chief, and this is where we're at. >> She's met him multiple times to me. What's up, puppy? So, >> I attempted to stop her on Phillips Road. >> Yeah. >> Going 55 and a 35. >> Didn't see the plate. I was just keeping an eye on the vehicle because she wasn't stopping. Drove all the way here, >> pulled into her garage, got out, was just being aggressive towards me for no reason. I was being respectful, telling her this is a legal traffic stop. Come to the back of the vehicle. No. Since she called chief, then that's why I requested supervisor. Okay. And now she was wanted to go inside, told her, "No, you can't go inside." And this is where we're at. So >> what? >> 17. All set. Made contact over the phone. Accidental call. >> What's the deal? You got >> ticket. What? What are you going to do? >> I mean, it's your stop. I'm not going to interfere with that. >> Yeah. >> She came home. I mean, obviously, if I >> since I explained that to her, makes no sense to you. >> She came home. She failed the stop. I mean, it's arrestable offense. I'm not trying to arrest the DA of the county, but also I want I don't want to not do my job and not at least write her something. >> So, I get it. And I'm not, like I said, I'm not going to >> I'll at least write her the freaking going 55 and a 20. >> Okay. >> At the end of the day, I got discretion whether or not >> No, I get it. So, >> hello. I'm only just going to start the the one ticket. All right, ma'am. So, I'm issuing you speed in zone 55 and a 35. >> I'll take care of it since I'll be prosecuting myself. >> Okay. At the end of the day, if you see my lights and sirens behind you and obviously they're going off. Just pull over. We can have a conversation and be on our way. I kept my eye on your vehicle. I'm not going to check my computer to see what plate it is. If a vehicle is not stopping for me, I want to keep my eyes on that vehicle for my safety. So, I make it home at the end of the day. I apologize. >> I I'm sorry that you had a bad day >> and I'm sorry it went this way, but >> I do respect what you do. Have a good day, ma'am. >> In the end, the Monroe County Office of Public Integrity and the Board of Ethics found that she had violated county rules by trying to use her office for personal gain. As of April 2026, Sandra Dory had officially retired from public office. And just like that, her time in the spotlight came to a quiet but firm close. Speaking of Republicans who thought they were above the law, meet Nicholas Rios, who completely unraveled when he was pulled over on suspicion of DUI. >> Guys on me, >> you guys are going to you guys are going to regret picking on me >> because you don't know who [clears throat] the am because I I got to call Attorney General Durley to let these guys know that you're being an [ __ ] to me. >> Okay. On the 15th of December 2023, police officers on patrol duty noticed a vehicle that was driving in a manner that indicated that its driver was possibly under the influence of some substance and pulled it over. At the time of initiating the stop, the officers had no idea that they had just encountered one of the most arrogant politicians they would probably ever come across in their careers. >> How's it going, bud? What you looking for? >> First registration. >> Oh, okay then. Yeah, you can go in the glove box if you need to. >> I'm not trying to give any of you guys to come. >> No. Okay. I'm just like I said, I'm going to give you guys my card to let you know. >> Nope, I don't want the card. I need your registration, buddy. >> Hey, I'm not I'm fine. >> Whatever you guys looking for. >> Can I ask a question? How long's that open bottle of Corona been back there? >> [ __ ] nice. Three, four days. >> Three or four days. Okay, then do you know where your registration is in the vehicle? >> Uh at least um April 24. But do you know where it is in the vehicle? >> I there's there there's no an open bottle of liquor there. I can see there's a glass bottle of I believe it to be corona back there. I was just asking. >> Yeah, but I can assure you that I live two blocks away. >> Okay. Have you had any alcohol to drink tonight? >> Not in like what is it? It's uh midnight like 6 7 hours. Yeah, it's uh 11:40 right now. >> 6:00. Oh, >> okay. How much you have do you have to drink? >> Uh three three or four beers. >> Three or four beers. Where was it? >> Uh at the restaurant at famous. >> Another secondary question. This is expired by like four months. Do you have like a newer one or a more recent one? >> I definitely do. >> Okay, that's totally fine. So, I'm just going to put this right up here with you. Let me go. >> No, just taking a swap. >> So, where'd you get that wristband at? Uh probably the whatever club that is [ __ ] next to uh I don't even know. I don't go. >> Okay. >> Next to uh the place. >> Give me a second. >> Thank you. >> I'm not going to lie to you guys. [ __ ] >> slers. The club slers. >> Okay. When when were you there? >> This is what I'm going to have you deal >> like two hours ago. >> Okay. >> Although he wasn't happy with having to deal with cops, Nicholas grudgingly agreed to cooperate with them. At least before he saw the need to bully them with [music] his status, if that what was needed to get them off his trail. >> Did you have that wristband and there's an open container in your car? We're going to have you step out of the vehicle. Okay. >> Hey, that open container was like weeks ago. >> Yep. Well, you know, you can't have an open container in the state of Northakota. Okay. So, I'm going to have you step out of the vehicle. Okay. Let can you unlock your vehicle so we can step out? >> No, that's totally fine. I just wanted to, you know, >> No, we're just have a quick little conversation. >> Okay. >> I might be doing it. >> Are you going to do it? >> Yeah, I can do. I'm feel. So, all right. What I'm going to do? >> Yes, sir. I I I don't mean to eat any. >> No, you're good. So, you said it's been 6 hours since you had the last drink. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay, then. So, >> 7:00 p.m. It's like 2:00 a.m. now. >> Okay. >> I live two blocks away. >> Okay. So, what I'm going to do, I'm going to I want to conduct a series of field tests, okay? To make sure you're good to drive cuz I smell alcohol in your breath and you you're slurring your words a little. I said with the the Slater's wristband that you said you're coming from Famous Daves. Um, so I just want to run some uh field soriety tests. You happy to do that? >> Absolutely. Why not? >> Dispatch, right? Delta. >> It's hard because that light's right there. >> Okay. Well, it's just the outside of this in your eyes. >> If you guys are trying to ruin me, destroy me. I mean, >> just do me a favor. Just keep just conducting the task. Okay, sir. >> You guys are doing your job. >> Just keep following your eyes. Okay, we're nearly done. >> [snorts] >> I'm nowhere near drunk. I'm two blocks away. >> Okay, just keep your hands on yourself for me, please, bud. >> I I mean no trouble, sir. >> Okay. >> Would you like me to do a dance? Just one more. Just uh what we're gonna do, we're gonna go up now. Okay. So, same thing. Just follow your eyes and your eyes only. >> Hey, where you from? Can can come down? >> No, just uh I need to do this test, right? Bud, just stand still. Your feet together and your arms by your side, please. >> Time out. >> Where are you from with your accent? >> Okay. If you don't continue the test, I'm going to take as a refuse. Right. >> Sorry. Yeah. No, I I'm not going to refuse, guys, because you guys are cops. >> Just put your feet together. Just hold your eyes and please keep my head straight. >> Yeah, please. Eventually, he began to see the multiple procedures as an affront to his personality and decided that he didn't need to be so nice after all, especially for a man of his status who felt like he was being treated like a commoner. It was at this point that things began to take a turn for the worse. >> But what I'm going to request is that you provide a specimen breath in this called [music] an alcohol sensor, otherwise known as a breathalyzer. >> Yes, sir. >> Are you happy to provide that? >> I'm not going to do that. You know why? Why is that? >> Speaking cuz I'm like two blocks away. >> Okay, >> you guys are on me. >> Okay, >> you guys are going to You guys are going to regret picking on me [music] >> because you don't know who the >> Just one second. I'm going to give I'm going to I'm going to give you a chance. I'm going to give you a chance again. [music] >> Will you provide the test? >> No, sir. >> Okay. >> And you know what? >> Sir, this moment of time you're under DUI back. I got to have uh another thing that you want to cuff up. Cheers. There's a couple more things I need to read you. Okay. >> No. Hey, >> I don't trouble with you guys. >> Trouble with me. >> Dispatch, right? The door. >> Can we at least drop my shirt, please? Okay. >> Like two blocks away. >> Hey, listen. We're asking He's asking you a question first. Let's start with that. Are you willing to submit to the Intox 8000 or you not? Simple as that. Yes or no? >> I will submit that if you let me drive my >> You're not going to be driving your vehicle. Okay. >> I I >> So, but what we can do, we can lock your vehicle. Okay. And we can bring the keys with us. >> There's two of you. >> How many [ __ ] >> Yeah, I'm not driving that car that far. So, this is literally two blocks away. >> Listen, this is what I can do though. Instead of leaving it on that side, I can put it over there. I can put it right over there. No, >> I want to I want to drop my off. No, >> we're not doing that. So, we're going to go to this vehicle. You're >> okay. I'm going to go to the rear passenger side of the vehicle. >> Nobody respect you. >> Okay, there's no need for that language, bud. >> You guys are going to rest more than I will. I just can't get into that. >> All right, just hold him for a sec. Hold him for a sec. Just don't get in yet. Okay, as of everyone, this vehicle has been searched. There's nothing in there. Anything that's found once you leave is going to be related to you. Okay. Do you understand? >> Yes, sir. I stopped, so it's easier to scrap them in. >> Hey, hey, hey. I mean no respect to uh put it in. >> All right. I'm just gonna You ain't got any weapons or anything on you, have you? >> No, sir. >> I'm just going to search you real quick. >> There's no weapons on my car right there. >> So, what do you want us to do about your car? So, what I can do is I can roll your window, shut your vehicle off, and you can have your keys in your possession so that when you are released, a sober individual can do it. Or >> I'll tell you, that's the best. That's the best. We're not moving the car. Those that's your only option. As things unfolded, it started becoming obvious that Nicholas wasn't a bit pleased with his very humbling experience. And even more embarrassing for him was that the cops were not hesitating to teach him that no one was above the law when he acted up. >> Do you want your uh phones? There's two phones in there. Do you want those? And do you want your >> I would take two phones here. That would appreciate >> because I I got to call attorney general directly to let these guys know what you're being an [ __ ] to me. >> Okay. Your your country is being taken over by migrants and this refugees, right? Am I wrong? You're arresting me for driving home, but people will come into your country and rape your women. >> Yes or no? And I'm the bad guy. Yes or no? Tell me. Tell me, bro. >> Yes or no? Nicholas was eventually charged with misdemeanor counts of drunken driving and refusing to submit a chemical
