on January the 10th 2023 at
approximately 5 55 PM officers with the
Columbus Division of police were at a
local Kroger grocery store when they
were flagged down by a security guard
stating a man had just stolen some meat
yes sir
okay I just walked out with two full
bags full of meat okay

the officers were given a description of
the suspect and actually stopped two
people that matched that description the
first was not the suspect the second was
it's not uncommon for police officers to
stop several people who matched the
suspect description before leaning on
the correct person
unfortunately these well-meaning stops
often lead to unnecessary accusations of
racism

that the suspect the officers detained
was positively identified as the man who
stole the stakes he had warrants for his
arrest the crack pipe and drug
paraphernalia that the officers found on
his person was taken to the property
room he was arrested on his warrant and
was not charged with any additional
crimes on this day
