An officer is called to a beach in Ohio after some teens reportedly exposed themselves to the lifeguards. The officer finds the suspects arguing with the lifeguards and throwing a shoe at one of them. >> All right, everyone. I'm Frank Sloap. I'm a 25-year veteran of a sheriff's office here in Arizona. Today, we're going to be doing some body cam breakdown. So, the goat of all body cam videos is Midwest Safety. They're a great great channel. We love them. Got their cup. I've got a shirt. I've got a hat coming. They're great. Always put out great stuff. That's where today's video, when we play body cam bingo, we're going to be doing it on a Midwest Safety video. So, body cam bingo, we're going to use card number two today. Cards number one through five come in a set. If you want to check them out, go to bodycambingo.com. You order it, I'll send it to you. Let's get to the video. >> All right, why'd you throw that at them? >> Because >> She's provoking us. >> Who? >> She's They're provoking all of us. >> Okay, go and turn around for me. >> For what? >> Turn your back. >> Hello. >> What are you doing? What are YOU DOING? >> OH MY STOMACH. >> SO, you want to let me step it up? Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. >> What Why are you arresting us? >> Why are you arresting us? >> I want to tase you right now. Put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> WHY ARE YOU ARRESTING US? >> MOVE. >> You move. >> Why are you arresting us? What Why is she getting arrested? Why is she getting arrested? Why is she getting arrested? >> All right, so it looks like as this officer is approaching the lifeguard shack, he sees this first suspect sounds like pick up a shoe or something and throw it at the lifeguard. All that is That's an assault. It's a simple assault. No one had He doesn't need to know anything else. He doesn't need to interview. He doesn't need a reason. He observed a crime be committed in his presence. So, he goes straight to cuffs, exactly how he should. Awesome move. He doesn't He just wants to take a suspect, get him detained. I love that. That's like, you know, they're arguing, "You didn't hear our side of the story. You don't know what happened." It doesn't matter. Assault's an assault. So, and out of everyone who's there, the absolute calmest person anywhere was that lifeguard. I mean, that lifeguard was just standing there, just kind of watching the show, the greatest show on Earth. And I mean, that guy is absolutely calm. There is no way that he was negatively involved in this just based on his demeanor, and you could tell FROM THE GET-GO. >> [screaming] >> WELL, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T FIGHT WITH THE COPS. SHE assaulted the lifeguard, okay? For what? What's your social? What's your social? What's your social? What's your social? I saw you assault her, okay? It doesn't matter. That's an assault. It hit him. Doesn't matter. Step back. Or you're going to jail, too. What is your social? No, I It's nothing to do with race, okay? Step back. What's your social? What's your social? Okay, I get that, but what's your social? It's to ID you. What's your social? Uh, that's not no reason. What's your social? What's your social? What's your Step back. They were provoking you. You could have just walked away. >> Just step back for a minute. >> Step back. It's not that hard. Or I'm taking you both for obstruction. >> care. >> Step back. Step back. Step back. >> Your data is everywhere. It's not just annoying businesses that use it. It's also being abused by scammers. You have the right to have your data removed from the internet. YOU CAN GET BACK. >> OKAY, go and turn around. I'm just taking I didn't do anything. >> What is he doing? >> That's what we're saying. >> Why she getting arrested? >> You sit down, too. >> Why are you Why are you getting >> off. I like it. >> But you're off of me. Just sit down. >> There we go. >> Just sit down. Just sit down. >> go. One more customer for obstruction. >> Okay, so we just need to resist. >> Step back. I'm sitting Love it. >> Step back. >> Step back. >> Sit down and stay put. >> I love it. >> Touch me. Call the damn parents. Call the damn parents, baby. >> Oh my god. Can you step here, please? >> I'll take it. I don't touch me. >> I'll take it. Getting close. That's stop. Now you're going to jail for resisting, too. >> No, stop. >> Sit down. Sit down. >> Sit down. Sit down. >> Call the DAMN PARENTS, FOOL. >> NO, NO. >> THERE YOU GO. PUT THAT THING BACK ON. >> SO, YOU'LL notice that pretty early on, this officer's like, "Hey, keep my keep my backup coming." Um he's outnumbered like three or four or five to one. And he has no idea who's involved when he's coming up. He sees an assault, he places someone in custody, people are encroaching on him as she's pulling away. Like, it's a it it's a nasty situation when you're one on four or one on five. Um so, I I get it. I mean, I'm telling you right now, me in the same exact situation, I'm doing exactly what he did. I'm going to take someone into custody, and I'm going to tell my my backup, like, "Hey, keep coming with a purpose. Like, drive here fast." Um and then he can weed through everything else once, you know, once backup gets there and things quite, you know, quell with numbers of people and just a command presence of initial officers. >> Now, backup's there. Now we're talking. >> What's up? >> Step back. >> BACK OFF. >> [laughter] >> HE SAID BACKUP'S for backup. >> Step back, bro. >> They didn't apologize. >> Step Listen, I'm about to say sorry. >> I got a bro. I'm going to take a bingo up and down. >> He's about to go for obstruction. >> We're not going to ask you again. Go. We're not We're not going to ask you again. Go. >> YOU'RE NOT TOUCHING MY COUSIN, RIGHT? >> STOP. STOP. >> Is this all serious? >> She'll go to jail. >> What did you do? What do you mean? >> So, I'm just sure she won't do it. I got that. The lifeguard is just like, >> Obstruction and resisting? She'll go to jail, too. >> I didn't Easy. >> Who is this, dude? This is a passerby just walked by. She's cool. Just step back, man. Thank you. >> Y'all not even getting OUR STORY BEFORE Y'ALL ARE READY. >> IT DOESN'T MATTER. What I >> Talk TO ME. >> SIT DOWN. >> GO, DUMB ASS. >> WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? >> Try to walk away. Well, we can't figure it out right now. >> What is your name? >> Remember when she had asthma? Remember that? >> I DON'T KNOW. >> HEY, GET BACK. GET THE BACK. >> SHE'S JUST YELLING TO YELL. >> ARE YOU KICKING ME? SPIT IN MY FACE? >> [screaming] >> SIT IN THE CHAIR. SIT IN THE CHAIR. >> BRO, THE COPS IS HURTING ME. >> ARE YOU GOING TO STOP SPITTING IN MY FACE? >> BRO, I'M GOING to go complaints about cops. >> Back up. >> Get the back. >> That's a great video. >> Get the back. >> Back up. If he interferes one more time, he's going to cuffs, too. Hey, big dog. Go back on the beach. You kicked ME AND SPIT IN MY FACE. YOU DID. YOU SPIT RIGHT IN MY FACE. >> I'M NOT LISTENING TO OUR SIDE OF THE STORY, THOUGH. Y'ALL SAYING WE >> WE don't care about your side of the story. >> Police said go, bro. >> You're going to tell me how policing goes? How do you Get in. >> Don't you see me getting in? >> No. What's your social? >> I don't know my social. >> What's your name? >> I don't know. >> Okay, so you're failing to identify yourself? Okay. So, both of these suspects played the I'm not going to give you my name game. Um they have to. It is the law. It It is just as much the law in Ohio as it is here in Arizona that while law enforcement is conducting a criminal investigation, you have to identify yourself. It is it's written in the law. So, if you don't, that failure to identify yourself is another crime. And they both committed it. And just because they don't want to, all that means is we keep them in jail until we identify so if we can't figure out who they are and they sit in jail for 5 days they sit in jail for a week that's on them so that's a them problem because they can very easily comply with the law and because they don't want to there's repercussions for that and I love it just stay put do not get off that chair okay I'll get you started when I get more units okay >> go back on the beach not staying here and messing with people >> I'm not messing with nobody I'm supposed to watch I'm supposed to take care of them what do >> all right then go sit down >> you're doing a terrible job >> go near that car do you understand me hey do you understand me >> I'm responsible for both >> okay do not go by that car >> not anymore >> do not go by that car if this guy comes even near that car go in his handcuffs >> spit in my [ __ ] face >> let me your hand >> I did not do that thing >> when you were resisting yes you did >> no I didn't even resist >> let's go come on what is your name did you give it to him how old are you >> he's not bad he's like >> how old are you he's all right what did your police say whether or not you're going to have to tell me who you are sorry about that guys I'm going to step in this [ __ ] is that cool tell me exactly what happened so when I rolled up I saw her throw the shoe at you >> so I'm the supervisor on this beach I supervise the lifeguards and I was down at Euclid Beach telling the swimmers to get out of the water and I came back Victoria told me that that group of three people they were right in front of that second chair right there and she came over and she >> we were going like Elijah was sitting there he had his cup kind of walking near him and then he was facing towards me opened his pants and took a picture of his >> of his penis hey I'm going to put her in there take a seat please what's your name what is your name >> I'm not telling you why because I just did that for no reason >> okay then you're you're going to go to jail >> I don't care what time it is and I'm not >> how old are you >> I'm going to kids I can't because they hit they turned us first that's what you don't get >> that's why I'm doing that cuz they're white what >> you're >> black and you're taking up for them. >> Okay, what is your name? >> I'm [snorts] not telling you. >> What an idiot. >> I'm not telling you. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Do you know her mom like her mom or her parents or >> Hey, no. Fox. Fox. Down there. >> I was going to try to get it her name. >> I got them. Don't worry about them. >> You told me to go down. I'm responsible for them. They're not listening to me. >> He is going She's going down there to talk to the lifeguard. Okay, did he show you his penis at all? >> No, all he did was open his pants and do that and then he kept trying to circle around. So, I I just told him and then I came back here. >> I went up and I approached them and I just said, "One of my lifeguards just approached me and said you just made her extremely uncomfortable. Can I just ask you guys to leave the beach?" Like at that point they denied it. So, the guy he had a I think it I'm assuming >> The guy with the shirt on, correct? >> Okay, I got to go ID him then. >> That's my cousin. >> Okay, what's her name? How old are you? How old are you? How old are they? >> Both of them 18. >> Okay, what are their names? >> Perfect. They're old enough to know. >> Why? >> Listen, they're in handcuffs. You see that, right? So, what is their name? >> You know what I'm saying? Why are you all arresting me? >> Okay. >> There are very few scenarios where someone has to be told exactly what they're being taken into custody for. Uh a lot of times it happens during a DUI investigation that has to do with a a culpable mental state for submitting to a chemical test. But, as far as hey, you're under arrest for you know, simple assault. You're under arrest for you know, disorderly conduct or whatever, that we don't have to tell you. You'll find out on your initial appearance when you go and talk to the judge what your charges are. There is no obligation at least here in the state of Arizona and apparently also in Ohio. California, you you probably have to tell them because it's California and um they're they just seems like the legislature just doesn't like cops there. But, everywhere else in normal America, I I don't think you have to tell them. And you know, they they seem really wrapped around the axles about it. But, that's that's that's a them problem. That is absolutely not law enforcement doing anything wrong. >> You're not listening to me. >> You're not listening to me. >> I'm I'm trying to get their names and I will listen. >> people is going to jail. >> And I'm trying to get their names and I will listen to your story. Y'all were fighting, right? >> Nobody was fighting. >> Can you tell me their names? I'll gladly listen to your story all day long. Tell me their names. >> No, you're not listening. You don't care. >> Okay, that's fine. >> care. >> That's that's okay with me. >> Uh his girlfriend was speaking up for him. She was saying like he wouldn't do that. Like I'm his girlfriend and he's also too young. And so, I just assumed it was like a misunderstanding. I said, "Listen, if you guys just Can I just ask that you don't approach my lifeguards again?" And um that would be fine. Just I'm going to keep an eye out and you guys don't approach them. And then at that point, they said, "No." Like they wanted an issue and they were asking to see her. And at that point, she was in the shack cuz they just wanted to confront her. And so, I said, "No, please don't." And I came back and they followed me and I said, "If you guys like escalate this whatsoever, I'm going to need to I'm going to be forced to call the non-emergency number." And then from there, I called my supervisor and I said there's three people sitting outside the shack. They're refusing to leave and they're making my lifeguard feel uncomfortable. And she said, "Call non-emergency if they don't leave." So, I went out and I gave them another warning. I said, "Guys, like just go back to your stuff or I'm going to be forced to call non-emergency." And from that point, I called you guys. When you showed up, that was the first time they ever tried to escalate anything. >> Okay. Are you okay? You don't need any You don't need Anybody need EMS? Anything? >> I think her and him are two different people. >> I'm going to need a statement from you and you, okay? When he took the picture of his penis and stuff like that, okay? >> The first one over here in the chair spit in my face and kicked me. So. >> Okay. So, assault on a PO and then 100%. You all right? >> Yeah. >> I was trying to talk to her. She tried to switch on me and scrape her knuckles. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Can I please have your name? I'm going to ask you one more time. There's no point for you to go to jail for overnight getting adding another charge or whatever happened. I don't know what happened there, okay? So, listen to me. >> Uh Jamaya. >> Are you How are you guys related, you and the dude? >> Um that's my cousin. >> Okay. >> That's his girlfriend. That's my cousin, that's my brother, and that's my son. >> So, he's the one who took >> His phone? >> His phone? >> He didn't take it. I looked through his phone. >> I I have no clue about that. >> Can you going to try to get his info. Just give me 1 second, okay? Yo, what is your name? I know you hear me. What's your name? What is your name? Are you calling a parent or something? What is your name? Because you're all involved in this. We got the call about you, okay? What is your name? Like you taking pictures of your pee-pee. This is your little altercation. Can you please give me your name? I'm going to ask you this one more time. Are you going to go in handcuffs, too? Give me your name. Because you were involved in this whole altercation. Give me your name. Is it Deshawn? Can you focus? I will let you talk on the phone. Just focus for one on another, bro. How do you spell your name? Give me a second. I will ask her in a second. Relax. I mean, what he did was weird and making them uncomfortable, but we don't really have nothing on him. Doesn't matter. Sometimes we do that. Whatever this officer to try to detain. But the moment he went to detain I'm not having this argument. The main thing she needs to What I isn't even everything before, it's kicking and spitting on cops. Cuz that's going to be a felony. Sundays, man. Yeah. It's always Sunday. >> The suspect who was arrested first, Ajana, >> [music] >> was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing and resisting arrest. The second suspect, Maya, was charged with obstructing and resisting arrest. They are both presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. >> Card number two crushed it. So, we ended up with five squares and with the middle gave us six. So, we got the cross and we got the up and down. Now, up on the top it says, "I didn't do anything." I accepted I didn't do nothing because, I mean, we figure it's close. But, um you know what I mean. So, a great bingo card.
