the video for today highlights some
exceptional police work by officers of
the columbus division of police
and coordination with the columbus
division of police helicopter unit as
well as
the columbus fire
department the officers were responding
to a call of a burglary in progress with
multiple armed suspects 9-1-1 what's the
location of your emergency
yes sir we just had somebody kicking in
our door with a gun in our pack now
when the officers arrived on scene they
immediately became engaged in a foot
pursuit with a man who they believed was
armed during that pursuit the man was
able to disassemble and pitch the
firearm he was carrying
all of which was recovered and as shown
in this video
i'm often criticized for spoiling what's
happening in the video but in this case
the more interesting part is
how they recovered the property not
necessarily the property that was
recovered the suspect in this case was
placed under arrest for a weapons
offense as well as obstructing official
business and tampering with evidence
with all that being said i hope you
enjoy this video i hope you watch till
the end
i'll talk to you soon

he's compliant but i do not have a nap

don't move man
i got you man okay
okay
[Music]
[Applause]

no not there keep going
[Music]
that one
laura move up the handcuff
[Applause]
see what this officer tells you okay man
all right
thank you sir
what's going on
one three we got one secured
i just wanna go back to the original we
got evidence that was dropped just
outside the
west door of that building
[Music]
yeah
there's gonna be a distance to walk
[Music]
on the other side
all right so i'm gonna have to see down
here on the uh
sit down
[Music]
well if we can just get the first car
over here to get this gentleman secured
[Music]
okay choppers and crews are coming south

103a firm
take my lucky bullet for lucky bullets
might not be your lucky bullet buddy why
not
you know i got that for my dad before he
died okay let's have a seat man
appreciate it
yeah he ditched the mag
and then he also threw one up on the top
problem is it's wedge wood so
i don't know depends how quickly people
got over there
the jam one of his boys picked it up
came falling out of him when he came
down these stairs
tumbling down the stairs i almost want
to say kept going out the back
so he's coming out here he's all over
this and boom magazine comes out
[Music]
straight launches something up over the
roof i go on age 30 up on tower 803
is it as tall as these it's all very
much
so we're going to be fighting fire to
get out there because i don't know
if we'll be able to get them to get the
roof hatch
yeah
803.
no it's 800 i'm sorry because he cut
through 803. so just go try to see if
maybe it fell off or if it didn't make
it to the roof
one of their spots well i changed them
through there
so
do you know these guys
i know a couple of them but no i don't
okay
why are they over here what's going on i
came home and they were here i
don't know for sure do you know any of
their names no
okay
who was kicking the door
i'm not for sure i didn't look through
the people okay
you see any of them from any of them
the shotgun two officers
okay
i mean they all had sweats on and head
masks can you identify a sweatshirt or
anything part of what they want more
wearing gross sweats
i think one that red sweats black sweat
and sweats on with headbands like
they ever make entry
they were definitely in they're in your
home when i came home
how'd they get in your apartment when
you came home windows or something i
repo and me something he has a key to my
house but i don't [ __ ] know
he's freaked out over here
i don't know he even lives out here
[Music]
what's your name he wasn't here
he wasn't here though
okay what do you what do you want done
out of this man because i just chased
one of those dudes i threw half a wedge
wood and he's got ammunition on him he's
dumping a magazine out of this front he
did that
really i'm just
i'm worried that somebody's gonna come
back and shoot at my house tonight i'm
probably gonna take my animals and leave
[Music]
apparently these guys are already here
one more four and now they're back again
the other one's in here
okay
yeah
there's a third
i'm not trying to dissuade you from
calling this kind of stuff in
all right but i walk up your stairs i'm
putting the dude at gunpoint all right
then i chased them three woods with that
gunpoint and i held them at gunpoint
about 30 seconds while everybody else
tried to come out and help me
with the police
this is a chance to charge a felony or
two or maybe
three is almost unconscious i can't
force
[Music]
okay i understand that but i put one
behind bars if you send me a message the
other one's gonna knock this off
[Music]
i'm gonna call it detective detectives
don't want to come out
that's another part of this i don't have
to ask to do that to have you sit in the
police cruiser where they won't be able
to see you and you're going to have to
identify the guy that i've got
well i can't come to your house i know
i'm saying they're going to know it's me
that's identical anyways i just don't
know who you're talking about that
you're referring to that's what i'm
saying there's a guy standing right here
when i walk in it's the bill i tell them
to stop and come to me and out the back
door and start shedding gun parts
can you pull your cruiser around back
this officer is going to come on back
all right you're going to go out the
back door you're getting her grizzly
okay we're going to do the
identification process but no one's able
to see you as long as you stay clear
from the windows okay
[Music]
all right so uh lauren got back super
negative on the id did you get this guy
figure out who he was
yeah i'm uh trying to verify a uh
possible traffic 50 right now
okay um i'm at the very least hit him
with uh obstruction
nice little footprint that we went on
here uh there is one burglar detective
for the entire zone right now
and uh
probably get a hold of them and since we
didn't have a positive id they'll
probably tell me that uh i've won this
i'm gonna drink the water
that wasn't any fun
[Music]
oh
[Music]
[Applause]
i think he got one all the way up on the
roof
so it looks like a big silver extender
probably towards the back and it's up to
you i wish he's going to get one out
there
[Music]
yeah i'll go with the ladder i don't
care
okay
you guys been busy somebody saw him
throw some [ __ ] up there hide it oh
it's jason okay we showed up there
he's staying in the hallway he's a
burglar in progress he's just staring at
me
so i chase him around he dumps the first
magazine out of his pocket like coming
down the steps so these two chuckleheads
over here i guarantee pick it up
so i'm pursuing him he comes around just
before he cuts into this he does a big
old
seal i'm betting it's a big silver
extended maggie
probably towards the back
he got a glove no he's he's not going to
touch it okay all right if you want you
can follow all right
yeah he got over to 806 and gave up
[Music]
[Music]
33 covered in the top of uh
well 803 and 791 it's in two pieces
[Music]
that just looks like a handle
that's been there for a while
103 to s10 do you have a camera or can
you grab mine out of my car
oh it's got more
more complicated
glad i called you guys yeah
don't touch it
i have not seen him throw that part
but i mean he had his hands jammed in
the entire time oh yeah i definitely saw
him toss that that's what i saw is that
the slide
yeah okay so he took it apart
[Music]
i just got done with the
voiglery
yes sir
[Music]
cheers
thanks man
you know it's cops
not made for ladders
one place
well i hope this is the most exciting
i was like
maybe i should just tell them like just
through the tall ladder i'm like then it
ain't gonna go all the way up come on
man
no no that way
[Music]
someone's looking out
yeah we're all set uh
gentlemen i appreciate it
these are stairs you just gotta turn
around
[Music]
burglary
we'll we'll get
i guess the best description you can
for our four subscribers
she can go
yeah let her out go back to her house so
get the best description you can for the
four suspects okay
um and then
that's me code one because i agree with
burglars she can't id the guy
well that that's that's fine well then
you know
people complain that we never show up
and do anything
so
um
i'll hold on to that since
done
so what he had done is he had steel
stripped it and what only thing i saw
was him throw the slide that's what it
was i thought it was a nintendo mag but
it was the slide this is over slide
there's a silver slide and the
barrel slung out of it
so it looked really really long
oh yeah that and i mean just possession
of
so
[Music]
you
