Her escalating antics pushed the officers to take more decisive action. We pulled up here because the Dollar Tree called that you were sitting here for a long period of time. You changed positions twice, okay? So, it went from a reckless suspicion investigation just to see what you guys were up to into a criminal investigation, okay? You were in total possession of your vehicle, okay? But, then you said I was driving. Listen, listen, all right? When I got here, the vehicle was on. You were in the driver's seat. You had total control of your vehicle. The vehicle belongs to you, doesn't it? Yes. All right. All right, and then I ended up building that you were in intoxicated or near reading in some type of alcohol or drugs, okay? All right, so I asked you to step out of the vehicle and asked you if you wanted to take field sobriety exercise. You denied several times, all right? I gave you the opportunity to take it. When you finally did, you couldn't do the nystagmus, okay? So, we had to That's the first exercise we did, okay? Then we had to move to the next one. Okay, that's okay, all right? Now Now, I have enough I have enough reasonable suspicion and probable cause to believe that you're you're inebriated, intoxicated at the time. And there was the passenger that advised me Why do you keep saying that like you know how Well, whatever. We have open containers in the vehicle as well, okay? All right? All right, he said he also saw you taking um taking a sip of your drink. You also told me that your eyes are always yellow because you're you're you're an alcoholic and then you said you were drunk and then you said that you didn't say that, okay? And Based on the fact that everything that were on there Yeah, but I'm I'm going through a lot of I have probable cause to believe that you were you were intoxicated at the time, okay? He's trying to explain to you what's going on. If you don't want to listen, then he's not going to continue to explain it, okay? Like you said, what's your argument what's your argument saying that you weren't driving? You don't have to be driving at the time to be DUI, okay? You just have to be in full control of the of the vehicle at the time, okay? All right, so your vehicle was on. You were in the driver's seat. You guys got here somehow, okay? All right? And and at and at the time of arrival, you were in full control of your vehicle, okay? And it's your vehicle, all right? There's open containers in the vehicle. You're intoxicated, all right? And that that's where we're at right now, okay? So, are you going to let this officer search you now? I have a phone number. Okay, all right. Hey. Um She doesn't act like this at all prior to this episode on her, right? She said not another DUI. So, I think she's been down this road before based on that. Only through 2030. I need to lay down. Can we lay DOWN IN HERE? NO, I'M TOO CLAUSTROPHOBIC. I JUST NEED TO LAY DOWN. She didn't have her 10-17 on her at the moment. All right, I'm going to need you to calm down for me, okay? I need to be with Mother Earth right now. That's it. I can't feel her. I can't feel her. I can't feel her. Let me touch her, please. It's okay. It's okay. Listen, um Mariela, is that right? I'm a Just tell them to let me touch the ground for a moment. I need to What I'm going to do I need to be with Mother Nature right now. What I got to What I need to do I got to I'm going to undo your Ma'am, let her talk to you. I'm going to undo your cuffs and put the cuffs on the stretcher. Can you guys do that? Yeah. So, you can sit on your arms. I need for like 2 seconds. Just let me feel her. Can you just stand up for us? We're going to stand up, okay? All right, stand I don't know, but I need to lay down. No, ma'am. We're not going on this uh bed over here. Please. This is made of um No, no, no. Relax. I need to feel. I'm so I feel. You're right, but no, no, no, something's I need to What are my seven Earth things? Relax. It's a cot is made of earthly materials. So, you're touching the Okay, so let me see what is coming off of to decide mine and yours. Uh yours. There's a hole right here on each side. Actually mine since she took that off. Hold on for that for a second, please. Sorry. Do you need another one? Nope. Did she drop something? I heard something about drugs. Yeah, she took them too. I need a lot of them. Watch out for the Do you have any um anything Do you have any drugs? No. Watch out. All right, you guys uh You want You want both on? Yeah, put them both on me. On December 7th, 2022, police responded to a complaint about a woman who reversed her car at an extremely fast speed, almost hitting someone and destroying a mailbox on the way out. Upon arrival, the police spoke with witnesses who provided details about the incident and then turned their attention to the suspect to hear her side of the story. Well, I know we told you what happened in there, but there's part of the stuff and the mailbox. The Yeah, the mailbox. I don't know if you saw that when you came in, but it's crooked. We What So, what happened was they came over unannounced. We told them to get out. They were all leaving. We Me and him go to a separate room and they start rushing out the house. I was seeing them We Yeah, we caught them stealing. So, he tries to confront them. And then she screams she screams no with the door wide open trying to drag him with her. Fast she says Fast she puts her car into that. Continues to drive off over there. Runs over our mailbox and just drives off. Keep in mind there's at least 10 people in a like a four-passenger seat. Little kids riding around being all stupid. I can't stand them. And she witnessed it too. One of the neighbors witnessed it. How you doing, ma'am? Is uh Is this McKenzie here? Hey, come here. Quick. Don't put me in the ambulance. She won't bite you. Okay. We're good to come in? Yeah. Oh god. Hit that light switch right there. This one? Yes. Sorry, I just got woke up. Are you her mom? Yeah. How old is she? Um 19. I'm sorry, I just got woke up out of my sleep. Y'all got to give me just a second, all right? That's fine. You know the situation's going on, ma'am? She just told me a little bit of it, but like I said, I'm I'm half asleep. I just got woke up. So, Ms. McKenzie, what happened tonight? So, me and my friends, we just went over there to Josh's house to hang out. We get there. He wakes up out of his sleep. He's already aggressive saying "All y'all need to leave. All y'all need to leave." He comes down. We're sitting there. We're hanging out. Then I brought up something that had happened last time I was there. Me and him we get heated into an argument. I go to leave because my friends that were with us, their parents texted and said that they needed to come home. So, we load up and he comes out the door like aggressive and charges towards the car, snatches open my car door, and starts to reach in the car. So, I hit the gas in reverse trying to get out cuz I didn't know what he was reaching for me or what. And I hit the side of his truck and took out his mailbox. Why didn't y'all call the police then? I wasn't allowed. Why didn't call law enforcement? I didn't want to get in trouble It was just an altercation. I didn't really think police needed to be involved. So, what happened in the house before you came out? Just me and him got into it and I said I was scared. He just He was like "We're not doing this in my house." Da da da. I was like "Okay, I mean I'm leaving anyway, so just left before it got too bad. Okay. And I didn't mean for this to happen. I really didn't. You take anything out of this house? No, sir. You might want to re-say that one cuz I got about six, seven, eight people saying differently. You can search the house for whatever it is you're looking for right now. I swear I did not take anything from them. You got your ID with you? Um I don't know my What's your last name, sir? Chuckleford. Chuckleford? Yeah, okay. Where's Ant at? Excuse me? I said Ant. Oh, okay. Have you been making threatening text messages, Snapchats to this other group? I don't ever talk to them. Okay. I hate this. 229 dispatch, 563 Olin. As the police spoke with the suspect, she denied any wrongdoing, but further questioning revealed witness reports that contradicted her statements. Did you have another family member in the car with you? Any family? Family? Or friends? Um our friends, yeah, but family What? I haven't got Is it Is it because of my class? Yeah. Um I haven't got it renewed on my team yet. You haven't got it renewed. Um that's my ID from a long time ago. I haven't got my driver's license It's renewed. I lost the card. I have a copy of it since I got it. So you got your hours license, but you don't have no the physical copy of a driver's license. I have a paper copy somewhere in my room, but I haven't got a new one yet. He was asleep, so he was just hanging out with his brothers. Then um he woke up. He was like, "All y'all need to leave." Just he was mad. I guess he got woke up in his sleep. But then he calmed down. He was hanging out with us for a little bit. Well, me and him got into a little argument. And he did leave. He just left cuz my friends said they needed to go home anyway. Their mom texted them. So we were getting in the car and then he came out the door like aggressive and hostile and scratched up my car door. And then was reaching into the car, so I put the car in reverse and hit the gas. I didn't think I'd hit the truck and the tail light get knocked out, so but I didn't want to call the police cuz I wasn't going to want to press charges or anything, so It probably would be smarter for you to do so. Yeah. I just try to avoid all that cuz it's just a lot of time. When the suspect's actions were revealed to the cops, they took the appropriate steps to address the situation. What is Hit and run, aggravated assault with a vehicle. Aggravated assault? Wow. He's on the side of the vehicle. And when you start backing up you should have called 911 right then instead of trying to do that because when you when the vehicle's used like that it is a deadly weapon by that point. I told him I didn't have any witnesses that I understand. You should have called 911 by that point. Do you have anything sharp in your pockets? Um I don't have any pockets here. I don't have I don't think I have anything in my jacket pocket. Can you check real quick? All right. Hang on for 1 second. Read your rights, okay? You have the right to remain silent. You may decide anytime to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? Yes, sir. Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us now? If you do want to talk to us, that's a yes. If you don't, you just say no. Can you repeat that again? I'm sorry, I didn't hear you. I am on my Uh-uh, she don't have anything. You don't have any pockets anywhere else? Okay. Will he be there in the morning? Yeah. Will she Will she get bond or what? Um with aggravated assault, I'm not sure. She'll probably get a bond, but she's got to talk to a judge first. That's probably going to be what, Thursday? This may be a felony. A felony? He smashed my car door open. Yeah, she got 911. Aggravated assault felony and a How you want to get a warrant? So she goes where? From here? It just depends on I have to talk to the judge about the warrants, so it may be reckless conduct or aggravated assault. It's going to be up to the judge on that. But at this point it may be aggravated assault. It won't be a felony. You know why they're taking you to jail, right? Yeah. Because I didn't call the police. Because when you got out the driveway and got away from him, you should have stopped right there and called the cops. Cuz it's a hit and run by that point. Striking a fixed object, striking a non-moving vehicle and well, I got witness statement forms and everything else in the car saying that he's right beside the vehicle, you took off. No one else was out there but him. Well, I got witness statements from everybody on that. Well, I'm going to have to get I got neighbors that seen it as well, ma'am. Can I put some shoes on? Yeah. After she don't come get them within 7 days, I throw them away. God damn. Call them so they can get statements. [Music] Oh, hang on for a second, man. I'll make this clear. I don't want nobody at that house over there. And they do have plenty of room there. So if anybody wants to retaliate, that's not the time to do it. At that point, the cops took the suspect into custody and transported her to the station for processing. Can you loosen this up a little bit? It kind of hurts. Just a little. They don't have to hurt you, they ain't going Damn, seat belt and left stuff on me. You got it. I'm going to take a picture of her car as well. All right, ma'am. I'm going to come on that side. Let's drop the seat belt out. All right, you go ahead and step out for me. All right, hold up. All right, come in here. Go to the right. Go right here to the right. This is far enough. So I'm over here. So then can I take it off? So that door anymore or is it like stuck? No, it's not stuck. We just left it like that to make you ask questions. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What if he takes the cell phone in the vehicle and he needs to place one on the driver and keep them there, okay? Mhm. The woman was charged with aggravated assault.
