Search for >> They're the country's most remote police force. You can be 250 km from the nearest uh anything. >> Let's rock and roll. >> Patrolling over a million square km of the world's most unforgiving [music] landscape. They keep the peace. >> It looks like it's starting to get out of control >> without losing their cool. >> Just doing our job. >> Territory cough >> tonight. How's every hair do? >> If a man bunning Darwin isn't criminal enough, >> fancy seeing you here. >> This bloke gets busted twice in one day. >> You're not having a good day. >> A raid on a drug [music] turns up some slippery characters. >> How many cops does it take to catch a snake? >> And the Cinderella story >> territory style. It's a 500 a.m. breakfast for Sheamus, Tanya, and Tizzy. And in the NT, they breed these coughs so tough they've traded donuts for muffins. >> We still like donuts, but it's um Yeah, these muffins aren't bad, though. >> What are you putting on my muffin, Yogi? [laughter] >> Secret ingredient. Yogi is the best muffin maker in the NT. So, everyone meets up on night shift, comes and sees Yogi. >> Yogi. >> Oh, man. people in property crime. We're one unit, one family. We are all there for one another. >> Thanks, mate. Good work, Yogi. Yeah. >> You know, a lot of us have come from different areas, have different experiences. A lot of guys in Trident have worked out bush, come from interstate like myself. So, we all bring something different to the table and um I think we complent one another. >> There is no other copper in the territory that drinks strawberry milk. >> Got to keep in touch with your feminine side, you know. [laughter] Back at HQ, Tizzy is heading up a raid on a well-known drug den. >> The situation is this. Methamphetamines are being sold from the address in Malac. [music] >> They expect to find three dealers who are not only in the business of selling drugs, but bad batches of them. >> There [music] is a number of incidents involving persons from that address under the influence of ICE being taken to hospital. We've received keys. However, if they've changed the locks, we've got permission to force entry. Given the fact that it is a drug house and we know that there's a lot of illegal drugs moving in [music] and out of that location, there may be other persons there. So, just um you have each other's back for this one. When you act on [music] information, you got to think of the other officers safety. You don't know what's in the house. You don't know what threats. You don't know who's going to be in there. You just want to make sure that your buddy's going to be all right. >> We're strike force t logged on until 1500 hours had to copy. >> We're just approaching the location now. If everyone's ready, let's go. Dogs in the front yard >> with the front covered. Tizzy heads around the back to try to key it. >> No, wrong keys. The locks have been changed. >> Luckily, he's brought along his own set of keys. >> YEP. >> What shift have you got to work? >> Uh, just a night shift. It's an old cliche, but like [music] most cops, Loy says he's married to the job. And he literally is. >> Just watch when you're driving. >> That's deep. >> Yep, you guessed it. That's his wife, Sandy. >> I'm two years older than him, so [music] >> I wasn't too keen on it to begin with, >> but he won me over. >> Yeah, more more persistence [music] pays off, probably. Here [laughter] you big fell. >> Sandy works the beat in the mounted unit while Locky's a street cop. >> He loves a good cat. Give me a >> She is a really good copper. She's really intelligent. She's really thorough. She's got a really good investigations background and she's also just a caring person. >> Yeah. Do you want to hold him? >> Yeah. >> The pair met through mutual mates in the force and take working [music] together as a bonus. >> A lot of days that we come home and we have a big discussion about some of the problems that we face today. And there's also [music] that understanding of sometimes we don't really want to talk about it. I think there's a a greater understanding [music] as well if you know he calls me and he's not going to be able to come home for 6 hours and it's my birthday. Um I understand the job. I understand that he can't just pick up and leave. >> At this stage I'm just going to advise you that you have the right to remain silent. >> Wonderful. >> You're under arrest for failing to leave a licensed premises. Okay. >> It's good. It kind of keeps me grounded in a way as well because I don't get too busy cuz I'm not even the best police officer in my house, let alone the station. So, >> well, Locky, tonight could be your night as Darwin's party strip is going off. >> Sometimes it can be crazy. I've literally seen Mitchell Street glowing blue and red with like eight police cars just parked up with little spotlights and just trouble everywhere. Look out, ladies. It's going to be sick. Watch your head. >> Sy's also working on the night shift and she's got a new recruit. >> This is Amarok, his four-year-old. This is his first night shift. And this is high tower. He's one of our more experienced patrol horses. There's a lot of intoxicated people on the street. So, we're just patrolling the main CBD at the moment. So, we'll do the main four streets um and try provide any backup that any of the foot members need. These horses are specially trained to cope with the noise and intimidation of drunk or aggressive crowds. But sometimes that's easier said than done. >> Outside Monsoon nightclub, a bloke's just been kicked out and is trying to fight the bounces over a missing shoe. >> But even once he's got it back, he still wants to crack on. So, we've gone out and tried to have a chat. So, maybe he's become aggressive, yelling and screaming. We've tried to push him off the road. It's become even more aggressive at the horses. When someone's on the road like that, they're obviously not obeying directions. They've got no idea where they are. The horses provide some sort of shield or cover. So, we usually try to shepherd that person off onto the safety of the road um and use the horses as blockers. Okay. >> In Darwin, on a busy night like this, agro spreads like wildfire. And Locky and Drew are called to help sort things out. >> Hey, it get back. >> But this Cinderella is not going down without a fight. >> Stop resisting. Get on the ground. Working in traffic gives Senior Constible Sarah Hutchinson a good chance to get out and meet the locals. >> You look way too young to be driving. >> I'm 21, actually. >> Are you really? >> Wow. Fountain of view. >> Perfect. Like a pro. [laughter] >> The people in the territory are [music] varied. Let's just I'll put that politely. >> You're obviously continuing Movember. >> You realize we're almost at the end of December now. >> What's your name? >> Sheriff. Sheriff, >> if you believe him or not. >> Really? Your name's Sheriff? >> Once you know me, like no one ever forgets me. So, >> there are some great characters up here and I've come across quite a lot of them. I'm sure there's still many out there that I'm yet to meet. >> And there's plenty of chances because driving without a license seems to be how they roll up here at the top end. >> I've left my license at home. You >> got any ID at all? >> No. >> Is there any reason you're driving without a license? >> No. >> In fact, some turkeys lose their license and pretend it never ever happened. For some reason, people who get disqualified by the magistrate don't take any notice of it. Come straight out 5 minutes after being disqualified and uh get in their car and drive off. And it happens all the time. >> Which is why the cops are running a stealth operation, cruising the Darwin Magistrate's Court car park. >> The six people going to court today. I think out of the six, three have been involved in motor vehicle crashes whilst they're intoxicated. So these are the people that we want to keep off the road. An up rolls customer number one. >> It's not one there, is it? >> No petrol cap and a dodgy front end. In police beat, a dead giveaway. But he looks pretty good, doesn't he? >> Punchy runs a check on the plates and they [music] circle back around. >> Now that car back there has got the wrong number plates on. >> We are looking for a couple of silver sedans. That one's a silver sedan. >> All right, we'll go back there. He may not have been one of the people they were looking for, but he is now. >> I want to get him before he gets out of the car park. He might even know. >> You got to ask yourself, why would you park in the courthouse car park with dodgy number plates? So, this guy's going to have a reasonable explanation, right? >> Where'd you get these number plates from? >> You found them. >> This one. It's a >> with an aggro Cinderella having a go at the horses. >> Locky and his partner Drew have rushed in to pull a bloke into line. >> Resisting on the ground. >> Alexis is out here traveling. Lost a shoe in a nightclub and even though he's got it back, he's been picking fights ever since. >> Give your arms out. >> Just stop, man. Just stop. >> Stop resisting. >> But this is one blue that he's not going to win. >> So, you're under arrest at the moment for resisting police. It's three defenses. You understand? >> Yeah. Huh? >> In his fight with the coppers, that missing shoe's gone. Walkabout again. >> Got to sit up. >> Don't worry about your shoes. >> Stand up on your feet. On your feet. >> Calm down. >> While Alexis will be spending the night in lockup, the shoe remains at large. I'd hate to see what would happen if he lost them both. >> Not my choice. Sergeant Slate and I have approached the male. We've placed their hands on him and informed him that he was under arrest. At that stage, the male has actively resisted us. Uh he shrugged shrugged the sergeant off and formed a clenched fist and it was my belief that he was uh going to strike. He was taken to the ground and uh resisted our attempts to place him under arrest. He will go to the watch house now and he'll be able to sober up and uh be spoken to in the morning. Looks like Alexis chose the wrong [music] couple to mess with. And wife S is not the only fan keeping tabs. >> This is my mom Julie and my twin sister Ashley. >> Hello. >> First time we see him in action. >> Proud of him. >> Keeping the city. >> Definitely a bit of a family affair this one tonight in a good way. Disney and the team are raiding a well-known drug den on the hunt for a trio they suspect are selling ice. >> SEARCH [screaming] and move quickly to get control of the house. >> Bedroom two is clear. >> The element of surprise is everything. One in the bedroom in here. >> And surprise, surprise. Here's two of the three suspects. They find Joseph and his girlfriend Tarly. But the third suspect, Kenny, is nowhere to be seen. >> Kenny was obviously out. One could argue that he actually had some gear on him and he was he was out selling [music] it. And that's uh just the way it worked today. Unfortunately, we missed him. What's your name, buddy? Sorry. >> Joseph. >> Well, my name is Mark. >> All right, Tarly. I know you. >> Um, so what we'll do is I'm going to serve you with the search warrant. Talia has an outstanding warrant for one of my jobs actually where she was located with a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine. Tally, at this point, I'd like to inform you that you're under arrest uh for an outstanding arrest warrant. You're in our custody, [music] not free to leave. Do you understand that before we get started, man, is there anything in there that you'd like to tell us about before [music] we obviously we're here searching for drugs? >> Any needles? >> Whereabouts? >> Yeah, that's cool. I just don't want our guys to get [music] stuck searching. Yeah, probably. >> So, they're not hidden. Are they capped or uncapped? Needles? >> Capped. All right, cool. >> Our procedure is to let the drug dog come through and do its search. It will give the handler a number of indications and give us a bit of a hint as to where to look. >> And sure enough, the snipper dogs head straight upstairs and make a beline for Tarly's handbag. >> Anything here that should be needed? What's that? >> But is this all Charlie's hiding? >> That car back there has got the wrong number plates on. >> The cops noticed this turkey parked in the courthouse car park with fake plates. >> I'm just doing a license check. Is this your car? >> The number plates are incorrect on it, mate. >> So, have you got some ID? Licensed or unlicensed? Not disqualified? >> No. All right. Any Where'd you get these number plates from? >> I found them. >> You found them? >> He's driving unlicensed in an unregistered car and he's committed another major offense. He's also sporting a man bun in Darwin. >> Who's that for? >> Obviously, you're going to get a notice to appear to go to court. >> What? For a man bun? >> They're unlicensed and unregistered, uninsured, and >> Oh, I I get it. I get it. >> Wrong plates as well. Okay. Picked the bad day to come to court. Sorry about it. >> It's a bad day for what could be Darwin's only hipster. >> Just take a seat in the car, mate. That way I know where you sit. >> So, I'm always surprised by some of the things I see happen in Darwin. >> This is a first for me. >> We're going to take those number plates off your car. Okay. >> Well, mate, they don't belong in the car. Are they stolen plates? So, you know who owns them? We in possession of property that's suspected of being stolen, mate. >> They're not. How do you know that? >> Either way, he's losing the plates and getting a ticket. >> Right. What I'm doing is a notice to appear in magistrates court. If you fail to turn up, a warrant may be issued for your arrest. I advise you to turn up. >> And when you do turn up, make sure you've got a driver's license and your car's registered before you park at the courthouse. There's a comedy of various in relation to this case. I mean, unregistered for starters. Wrong plates. Pretty easy for us to detect. >> What's that car? >> But no sooner have they pulled out of the car park. >> Says station wagon white Camry. >> And [music] Hatchie thinks this car might be on her hot list. >> Oh, hang on. It's unregistered. Get it. >> Are you serious? >> Yeah. Where'd they go? >> Go. Just rock it. Watch this car. Watch this guy. >> Come on. Get on my road car. >> They've only been on the job for half an hour and already they pulled over their second unregistered car. >> I'm Tango 205. We have a trap on Dina Beach Road. >> And Hutchie can't believe what she's seeing. >> Hello again. >> Fancy seeing you here. >> You're not having a good day. >> Jizzy and Sheamus are in the middle of a drug raid. There's no sign of the mysterious Kenny, but they may have just found some of the drugs they are looking for. >> Anything here that should be >> needles? >> What's that? >> MSM cutter. All right. At this stage, I'm treating as a dangerous drug. What's your reason for possessing a dangerous drug? >> Somebody gave it to me. I've been sitting on my bed for the last two weeks. >> Okay. >> It's not a drug. Yep. [snorts] MSN is a cutting agent and it's basically used by druggies to dilute what they've got. Gets more value out of their product, but also [music] too druggies use it as throw downs as well. So, they'll put a few of those bags in places [music] where police will look and hopefully that'll deter us from continuing to search. Along with the cutting agent for Tarly's home cooking, there's crystals they suspect to be methamphetamine and of course Tarly's cooking utensils. A cheeky measuring scale. >> What are the scales for? >> And a syringe. >> I asked you if they were capped or uncapped. >> They are capped. >> No, they're not. >> Well, unless you just threw my bag around then. >> And it seems while the bag was being thrown around, this ice pipe also fell in. >> What's the reason for possessing a smoking implement for drugs? >> Okay. What are you doing possessing it? >> She asked me to hold on to it the other day and back. >> Okay. It's an unlikely story, but not as good as her next yarn to explain how this complete stranger's credit card also fell into her handbag. >> Who's Miss Ku? Yep. >> What's your reason for unlawfully possessing property? >> I found it on in the car park in the shops. >> Yeah. When? >> Um 3 or 4 days ago. >> Yeah. Why haven't you taken it to the police? They're credit cards. >> Chance. >> Hey, >> I have another chance >> in the last three or four days. druggies are always looking for ways to get money. The [music] last time I arrested her, she was in possession of a lot of stolen property, uh, stolen mail, etc., [music] things like that. So, I'm not surprised, and I don't really believe her story at all. Tyler, I'll get you to stand up, mate. We'll [music] do give you a quick search. >> She had used needles, loads of empty clip seal bags, uh, which obviously would have held methamphetamine at some point in time. It's a good result. She was on bail already for methamphetamine use and possession. With Tarly in custody, Tissy and the team continue their search for drugs. >> Take a seat. >> And Kenny, >> I know you've been [music] asked, but where's Kenny right now? >> Sure, mate. I thought he was here. He was here last night. >> It's funny. >> Well, if Tizzy finds that funny, then he won't believe what he finds next. >> What is it? >> Now, that car back there has got the wrong number plates on. Hutchie and Dunlop are pulling over unregistered cars in the courthouse car park and it's like shooting fish in a barrel. >> They're unlicensed and unregistered and uninsured and wrong plates as well. >> They've already busted this bloke for being unlicensed, unregistered, and in the possession of dodgy plates. >> What's that car? >> It's unregistered. Get it. >> And now they're on to the second unregistered bust. >> Cam Tango [music] 205. We have a trap on Dina Beach Road. >> There you go, ma'am. You're not having a good day. And hello. Hello. Hello again. >> Look who's in the car. >> Fancy seeing you here. >> It's the Darwin hipster again. >> Yeah. Tell me about it. >> He's got someone to come and pick him up and now their car's unregistered. You would think you'd wouldn't be coming to a place when your car is unregistered where their police might be. Your car's unregistered. >> No, it's not. I got it registered the other day. >> Have you got the paperwork for it? >> She insists her car is registered, but Dunlop checked with Hutchie and sure enough >> nothing. >> No, it's out. >> Okay. We wish you had an infringement. >> How stupid can you be? >> She learned the hard way. 800 bucks. >> I thought it'd be a bit strange that you come pick people up. >> Yeah, that's okay. >> Most people we deal with do stupid things. >> You can't drive this car any further unless you drive directly to motor vehicle registry. >> That's one less unregistered [music] car and one less man bun on the road. So far, a bust has turned up drugs, drug paraphernalia, and stolen credit cards. But a second sweep of the house reveals that the credit cards are not the only thing stolen. >> What is it? Is there a snake in there? >> It seems these druggies aren't just ice enthusiasts. >> Kenneth had no permits for the snakes. We did some checks for parks and wildlife, so we're aware that he's got these snakes illegally. Luckily, Sheamus fancies himself as a bit of a Steve Irwin. >> I'm going to get it out >> because just the thought of snakes sends Tizzy into a tizzy. >> I'm just scared of them. I just do not like them. There we go. The only good snake is one that's not near me. >> Snakes and the territory go hand in hand. I actually own snakes anyway. So, this little fella is a bit flighty. He hasn't been handled very often, but he's not too bad. >> With python number one in the bag, >> done. >> It's time to take on his much bigger brother. Snake. >> I've owned snakes. >> Oh, >> and he's a little grumpy. >> Once he smells human flesh, that's when it's bad. Bad juju. >> Yeah. >> Oh, he wants you. >> Got it. We got it. >> How many cops does it take to catch a snake? He's a little bit more aggressive. >> There are no drugs on Joseph, so he's free to go. But with Darly in [music] the slammer and Kenny summoned to the court for his snakes, it's also not a bad hall. >> And this drug den is officially closed for business. >> At least it sends him a message. >> Yeah. >> Kenny turned up for court and was fined 500 bucks [music] and his snakes were adopted out. Cinderella was charged with four offenses, including using his shoe as a weapon. That saw him 1,500 bucks out of pocket. This blood cop traffic fines totaling 2,250 bucks, but they let him off for the man bun. >> We've got a trap at the airport motel. >> Next time on Territory Cops. >> He had plans to take you here for the next couple of nights. What it sounds like. >> This couple's romantic night. >> Obviously, he was hoping for a bit of action. >> Gets gate crashed by the cops. >> Are you serious? >> Deadly serious. >> Opal the drug sniffs out a giant stash. Piss up. Piss up. >> And a wee problem on Mitchell Street. >> It really does smell like piss everywhere. >> They're the country's most remote police force. >> You can be 250 km from the nearest uh anything. >> Let's rock and roll. >> Patrolling over a million square km of the world's most unforgiving landscape. They keep the peace. It looks like it's starting to get out of control >> without losing their cool >> just doing our job. >> Territory cops >> tonight. >> He had plans to take you here for the next couple of nights. What it sounds like. >> This couple's romantic night. >> Obviously, he was hoping for a bit of action. >> Gets gate crashed by the cops. >> Are you serious? >> Deadly serious. >> Opal the drug dog sniffs out a giant stash. >> Pizza. and a wee problem on Mitchell Street. >> It really does smell like piss [music] everywhere. >> Senior Constable Jen PCO is living her childhood dream. >> I've always wanted to be a police officer. >> And she's taken some inspiration from [music] the small screen. >> This one. >> I love cop shows, you know, all the sexy drama that comes with that and I thought I could do that. That looks pretty cool. >> One, two, three. >> And now she's part of Strikeforce Trident bringing her own style of [music] policing. I don't always try and be everyone's friends, but I try and say it like it is. Most crooks will know that it is what it is with me. I'm not going to try and [ __ ] them. >> And like any good cop drama, a lot of Jen's work is undercover. >> We tend to operate in probably a more stealth mode given the unmarked vehicles that we operate in and the clothing that we wear. We usually try and wear darker clothing at nighttime, which makes us fit in. So, I think it definitely gives us an advantage at nighttime. It's nearly 4:00 a.m. and after a long shift, the tire Trident team are heading back to call it a night. But a car gunning it down the highway out near the airport catches their eye. >> You catching up to this car in front of us? >> He's slowing down for the speed camera. So, he's definitely speeding. >> Sheamus is straight onto the rejo number to find out who owns the vehicle. >> Late turn. Got anything? >> Hang on. possess methamphetamine. Let's see him. Let's go. >> Oh, he's just gone in there. >> And just like that, a speeding car becomes a car full of suspects. >> Meth meth meth meth meth. >> BKM 107. We've got a trap at the airport gateway motel. Just in the car park. >> Looks like no one's clocking off this shift anytime soon. >> Yeah. Yeah, mate. Just police. Notice you're traveling pretty quick along that road there. Get a driver's license on you. >> Thank you. Been in trouble with police before? >> Oh, yeah. >> Are you staying here? Are you? >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> While Jen deals with the driver, Sheamus pays a visit to his companion. >> Hey, how you going? Police. >> Do you have any ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> What's your name? Sorry. >> Jasmine. >> Jasmine. I know you. >> Yeah. >> Bingo. What are you up to? The reason these two are together is a little sketchy. >> How do you know Jasmine? >> Sort of met. >> Yeah. One of your mates or boyfriend, girlfriend. Bit of this, bit of that. >> Not really. We sort of just met each other tonight. >> Yeah. >> But his plans of romance is news to Jasmine. >> He had plans to take you here for the next couple of nights by the sounds of it. >> Like that. >> That's what he said. >> What were you doing tonight? >> I was just getting the train. Okay, that's not what he's saying. Have you got accommodation here? >> I have no idea. I'm just in the car getting a lift. >> And if this hookup isn't looking sus enough, a bag search is about to make things even worse. >> Is there anything in here that I didn't know about? Is anything that's going to hurt me? >> That's not my stuff. That bag there. >> Unfortunately though, you were pretty able to identify that pretty early on. What else is in here? >> Some toys, buddy. Originally a country boy from Victoria, Cable Brad Leget has now well and truly set his roots in the territory. I've >> wanted to be a copper probably since about 12. I've always been interested in it. >> Good boy. >> During days off, I love spending time at home with my wife, my little boy, doing all the family stuff. >> As a new dad, Brad sees firsthand the magic of life. But as a member of the police negotiator unit, he's all too often confronted with death. Recently there was a job where we did go to suicide intervention. A guy was in the city and hanging from a scaffolding. It was only after 25 minutes. He looked around at us. He smiled and then he let go. Fell onto the road and died a short time later. >> It's late at night. And Brad and his partner Mitch Bell are on patrol. When the last call either of them want to hear comes in a threat suicide >> Oh, negotiator. >> That's me. >> 74. Roger. Attending. Any further details? >> Believed to have been involved in an incident with an exartner. Um we're as we've been told she's in tox and um she's threatening to jump off the bridge. So we'll pull up and um hopefully we can talk her down of course and >> calm it down, get her to rethink what she's doing. >> With the memories of the last job still raw, it's a tough situation to face. >> They're off the elevated near waterfront bridge. >> Ahead of them, a distressed woman is being held against the bridge railing with a 25 m drop onto the street below. Hello guys. Well, >> it's not what we've been told, mate. >> What's going on, guys? M >> do you feel like you want to jump off this bridge at the moment? >> Are you honest with me? >> A passer by managed to pull the woman from off the top of the railing a few minutes ago and her husband [music] has been trying to stop her from climbing up again ever since. >> What we are going to do is going to get her and we're going to have a sitting down. >> I'm here to make sure that you do not hurt yourself. Can you let go for us and walk back up this end with us where we're not near a great height? We're not going to hurt you. Some of the challenges of dealing with people having a mental breakdown or having suicidal thoughts. It's one of those things where you've really got to get on par with them and find out what's going on. >> Come on, just relax. You're not We're not going to hurt you. >> Just leave me. I'm done. >> Rally up in the car park in 10 minutes and we'll go from there. >> 15 years ago, Detective Kenny Bradshaw had an epiphany. I used to be a plumber before I was a police officer. Couldn't really see the long-term future in it. So, I joined the police for its variety and diversity, and there's nothing I would change about my job. I enjoy everything I do, the travel, even the paperwork. [music] >> Now, a permanent fixture in the drug squad, he reckons keeping it real, Roger, >> is the best approach. Your family could be in the situation these people are in and and try to have some compassion and sympathy and empathy. All those things that keep you feet on the ground and motivated as well to help them as much as you can. I personally regularly talk to the people that I deal with about their options of getting off drugs. Some take it well, some probably just throw it out the window. And uh they're the people we see on and on, you know, over and over again. And today, Kenny's on [music] the hunt for drugs and grog that could make its way to the remote community on Tiwi Island. Just heading down to the Tiwi Ferry Service to uh screen passengers for drugs and alcohol. It's something we do on a regular basis to create a deterrent. The alcohol and drugs create all sorts of problems for the community and the police that are over there. Alcohol's banned and drugs are illegal. So, uh, we try to deal with it as much as we can from this end. >> The cops have [music] brought along a secret weapon. Opel, the sniffer dog, who's trained to sit if he gets a whiff of drugs. >> Detective Senior Constible Alicia Harvey is part of the drug squad and can spot a stash a mile off. >> Well, you can't take that over with you. >> Biggest hall in the world. >> Yeah, >> the impacts are huge for drugs and alcohol. There's an increase in domestic violence, suicides, unlawful entries. Everything revolves around substance abuse is is what we're trying to prevent. >> Mrs. Can you just stay here, please? We got to check with that dog first. >> And it doesn't take long for Opal to discover one of the passengers is less than happy to see him. >> When we come down here with the drug detection dogs, you definitely see a change in behavior and people that are worried about what they've got. Not very often that people can keep a poker face, especially when you bring a dog past them. >> She keeps trying to walk away. That's why I've been watching her. >> That's all right. It's all right. Hey, hey, hey. It's all right. I'll just stop. Just stop moving. >> But it's not what's in her skirt that's got Oel worked up. He's ced a whiff of something else and gives the signal. >> Whose umbrella is this one? >> What's inside that umbrella? >> We want it. >> It's just gone in there. BKM 107. We've got a trap at the airport Gateway Motel just in the car park. >> It's the end of the late night shift and love birds Brendan and Jasmine have been pulled over for a routine search. >> The problem we have here, Jasmine, is that if we find some stuff in here, it looks like I'm going to. So, what I will do is while I'm doing this, I'll tell you that you don't have to say or do anything unless you want to. >> Yeah, you're right. >> Anything that you say or do may be recorded and given an evidence. Okay. Do you understand that? >> Yeah, no worries. Brendan has been busted before for having meth. And the cops think the pair could be up to a little more than midnight romance. >> I'm just going to do a quick search. I'll get you to take a tour. >> Jen suspects that Jasmine is hiding drugs. >> You just want to come over to the front here cuz I've searched you before and you've had stuff somewhere. >> Yeah, you're right. I don't have nothing. >> You are both pretty confident about that. So, >> yeah, I don't have nothing. >> No worries. >> But before Jen even gets started on the body search, Jasmine's history catches up with her. >> Got a warrant. Who do >> you do >> got a warrant of apprehension so you didn't go to court? >> So you've been summoned. You would have been summoned for >> possess methamphetamine. >> Oh, there you go. >> Are you serious? >> Yep. Deadly serious. >> So you're under arrest at the moment. Just shake your hands together. >> Yeah, you're right. >> And that's your bag there. >> Yeah. >> All right, just hang out with this officer. >> A warrant for dodging court for drugs charges. And now Jasmine's staring down the barrel of even more strife. >> What's in these bags? These are got gear in them. Those >> seven. >> Yeah. I don't know. >> Okay. >> Oh, was that in the sharps container? >> Yeah. >> Interesting. >> That's pretty smart. Most cops don't like looking in sharps containers. >> I don't know. >> But Jasmine's not the only one that's been holding out from the cops. >> So, just a bit of cannabis just located in the door here. Smoked into that weed tonight. If I do a lick test, are you going to show up as positive for cannabis? Yeah. Paul Bloke thought he was going to come here and have a good time. Now he's getting arrested. >> Yeah, look, they said that they had a bit of a fling together [music] four years ago and they've just met up tonight. Obviously, he was hoping for a bit of action, but the only action he's going to get is our handcuffs. >> Jasmine, this is your ride. >> Both of these people have got extensive history for this behavior and um and I think they're probably planning bigger and better things, so it's probably good to detect it now. Kenny and the drug squad are at the ferry terminal intercepting any illegal drugs and alcohol trying to make its way to the remote community on Tiwi Island. Sniffer Dog Opal has positively IDed something suspicious inside an umbrella. >> Whose umbrella is this one? >> Not my bought yet. >> What's your name? >> Betty. Betty, what's inside that umbrella? >> Paper. >> Just paper. What's in it? >> I don't know. >> Two deal bags. Hey. >> Is this yours, Betty? >> No. >> Who put it? Who put it there? >> I just knocked it out and smoked that thing. Anyway, >> you just put it there. It's just two deal bags of cannabis and they just wrapped in a bit of tissue inside this umbrella. >> She also had a six-ack of beer that she was trying to take over to the Tiwis. >> I just had my beer. >> I'm going to take that beer cuz you can't have that one either. Okay. Do you know that? >> Yeah. >> We didn't notice them. We were coming. >> You didn't know we were coming? Oh, well. >> They're pretty good, those dogs, aren't they? >> So good. Alicia's hardly had time to write Betty's infringement when Opel sniffed out another problem. >> In here. In here. How much do you have on you? >> You don't know? >> Is it in your shirt? >> No, >> it's on you. >> And her deep pockets are getting more interesting by the minute. >> Is that in there? Wow. >> What's that? >> Grog. >> Well, we'll take that. >> You don't need it then. >> Yeah. >> And if two bottles of Bundy wasn't enough, even Alicia is surprised at what comes next. >> Is that strapped to you? >> Are you serious? >> Coming up, the big find that rocks the we folk on Mitchell Street. >> That's an expensive piston, isn't it? Roger 420 attempt to threaten suicide to jump off. >> Senior Constables Brad Leget and Mitchell Bell are in the middle of a delicate negotiation. >> Just let go, mate. I'm going to have to make you let go. Come on. Just relax. >> Onto the >> relax. and someone wanting to take their life or at least considering it, you've really got to take a step back and apply a fair bit of empathy and try and find out where they're at so you can really make a bit of rapport connection with them. >> There's a little seat just here. I'm just going to get you to sit on that for me. >> Turn around. Have a seat. >> Don't try and run. Don't do anything silly. All right, mate. We're here to look after you. >> Although the immediate danger has [music] passed, the woman's too fragile to be left on her own. So, what's happened tonight? >> I I'm just I'm just seeing the bigger picture. >> Yep. >> I'm just done. I don't want to I don't know. I'm just done. [snorts] >> Okay. >> You're done with what? >> Everything. >> Um some people are quite suicidal and um sometimes they really want to tell someone about it, get it sorted. In this case, um it appeared to be quite a bad day and um I think it was just a cluster of things that rolled into one and got a bit too much. >> Can you tell me about anything else? What happened tonight? >> Finished. >> Listen, what we're going to have to do as police, we have responsibilities here to make sure that your mental health is in check. I know you've had a few drinks tonight and I know you don't seem like a [music] bad person and people have tough times in their life, but you do need to speak to someone at the hospital. Okay. >> Do I have to go? >> Yeah, mate. >> What I would want to get across to anyone in that position who would be thinking of taking their life? It's not over. There's so many agencies, whether it be a support for counseling, whether it be a youth organization or marriage counseling or someone who's got troubles with their kids. There's so much help out there to get you through. If I get you to stand up for me, I'll open up this door. >> Brad and Mitch will take the lady to hospital where she can get the help and support she needs. >> There's a step here to help you up. I can help you up there. >> Thank you. We're there to help you and there's no other reason we're there. >> Drug dog Opal has sniffed out a suspicious passenger waiting to get on board the ferry to the remote community on Tiwi Island. >> In here. In here. This one. Is that strapped to you? >> No. >> It's a vacuum pack full of pot. >> How much is in this one? And it just keeps on coming. >> What's it in it? Coffee. >> I don't know. >> She tried to conceal them by using coffee to try and mask the smell, but the dogs trained only to respond to one thing and it detected the cannabis. >> Who gave it to you? >> Some guy >> came to the house. >> Where? What house? >> Um I was staying with my nephew in Vegas. >> Yeah. >> I don't know. This guy just walked up. But the guy picked the wrong day to get his drugs smuggled onto Tiwi and into the community. >> All right, Mari, come out with me. >> There was definitely someone over the island waiting for those drugs and the alcohol to have a good time. We fled that. There's no doubt about it. >> It's a substantial bust as 200 [music] g of cannabis on tiwi is worth more than 10 times the going rate in Darwin. >> It's in bags. >> Yeah, it is quite a lot. It would be probably commercial quantity. Out in the communities, one gram will sell for about $100 and one gram is only a tiny little bag. And these are all packaged into actual individual bags inside the crybacking. >> The grip that drugs has got on people is never surprising to me. >> All right, Mari, you're under arrest. Do you understand that? Possessing cannabis and supplying cannabis. >> All right. >> Trying to break that grip on people is pretty hard. And we do that by trying to reduce supply and access to drugs. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Coming up. >> Oh, Mitchell Street. How I love Mitchell Street. >> An unwelcome surprise for Kyle and Paulo. >> Oh, can you see penis there? I can see penis. >> It's a little known fact, but Darwin actually has one of the highest rates of alcohol consumption in the world. Oh, Mitchell Street. How I love Mitchell Street. >> And as the [music] pubs and clubs close their doors and send the punters into the night, >> I don't understand why they do it. I still haven't worked that out. >> There's a wee problem that takes over the streets. >> It really does smell like [music] piss everywhere. >> Some people just they drink and then >> piss up, piss up. Just a male urinating up against the wall. >> People get very embarrassed about getting caught out. >> Do you want to finish up, man? >> It always astounds me with public urinators. They think that they're doing nothing wrong. Oh, I just had to go to the bathroom. But using the outside toilet, bad idea. >> No, you're not all good. Just stop where you are. >> It's usually the same excuse. There's not a toilet around or I couldn't make it. I couldn't hold it. >> That's an excuse. >> How you buddy? Sorry, mate. I think it's uh generally poor planning on behalf of the individual themselves. >> Planning? We're not building a house. >> Why are you urinating in a public place? >> There's far more that do it that get away with it than get caught. >> And you couldn't wait till you got home. >> No. >> If you know you're going to leave a licensed premises, the onus is on you just to maybe take care of business before you go. >> Yeah. I've just come from a club. >> Was there a toilet in there? >> Every pub's got a toilet in it here in Darwin. >> What club did you come out of? >> Discovery. >> Discovery. Do you have toilets in there? >> Personally, I do feel sorry for him. I mean, when you got to go, you got to go. >> Mate, you're painting in someone's container there. This is a business center. People are walking through and people do complain that they can smell urine all the time. >> There we go. >> There are a few short things in life. For Paulo and Kyle, Saturday night public urinators are definitely one of them. >> Oh, can you see penis there? I can see penis. >> Fellas, we get the picture. I haven't worked it out, man. I've been doing it for a long time. E like >> came back to jail and then went out and then got done for peeing in public. >> It's the purest day, mate. >> What uh what's your reason, mate? Why do you want your reason listed as um urinating? >> The club's a lockout. >> Yep. >> There's no public toilets open. >> Is that your reason? >> I'm going to give you a ticket tonight for urinating in the public place. >> Please don't fight me, man. I really can't afford it right now. >> It's $472 fine. >> What? >> You got 28 days to pay it. >> $472? Are you serious? >> $472 it is, mate. >> $472. >> Just because I piss him? >> Yeah, man. You're a big boy, man. You made the decision to urinate there. >> Along with the big fine comes some big regrets. >> I would not do it ever again. >> Bit of expensive weed. >> Take almost 300. >> That's an expensive piston, isn't it? >> In any currency. If everybody did that, Darwin would not be a nice place to walk around, especially in the heat. >> That's terrible, eh? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Still leaking all over the ground. >> It's not something It's not something I'm proud of. >> You know the old saying, once you break the seal, that's it, man. It's all downhill. [laughter] >> Betty's umbrella stash got her a $300 fine, while Mari's vacuum pack supplies saw her in the slammer for three months. And as for the romantic couple, Jasmine didn't turn up for court again. While lover boy Brendan could be facing a $1,500 fine for possessing cannabis and driving whilst stoned, their relationship is currently [music] on ice. Next time on Territory Cops. >> You're under arrest for assault behavior, swear in a public place. Okay. >> Greetings from [music] Alice Springs. >> I didn't swear to you. You don't >> He abused me and he want to smash me. He abused me. How not to get a taxi in Darwin. >> I'll jump out the car and smack your neck. >> Knock knock police >> and the hunt for a cheeky bag snatcher. >> There's a bad boy. >> They're the country's most remote police force. You can be 250 km from the nearest uh anything. >> Let's rock and roll. patrolling over a million square kilm of the world's most unforgiving landscape. They keep the peace. >> It looks like it's starting to get out of control >> without losing their cool. >> Just doing our job. >> Territory cough. >> Tonight, >> you're under arrest for the sorely behaving and swear in a public place. Okay. >> Greetings [music] from Alice Springs. >> I didn't swear to you. >> He abused me and he want to smash me. He abused me. [music] How not to get a taxi in Darwin. >> I'll jump out the car and smack. >> Knock knock police. >> And the hunt for a cheeky [music] bag snatcher. >> He's a bad boy. >> Daniel Hogan's been a cop for 10 years, but being a police officer is far from her only job. >> Hey, >> hello my darling baby boy. How are you? >> She's also been moonlining as a mother and grandmother. I have four kids and I have two grandkids. What have you been doing today? >> Wearing new shoes. >> New shoes. >> You're police? >> Yeah, I am police. I have to go. My background is indigenous and there was an opportunity to assist indigenous people through the police force. I joined as an Aboriginal community police officer. I got to know a lot of indigenous people in the area. >> All the ainal people in the area. Tanya, what you know, she doesn't know. On the job, her plus one is new dad, Steve Flynn. >> Flynn and I have been working together for the last two years. >> Put it in your phone and your notes. It's good to work with the one partner for a little while at least cuz you rely on your partner a lot. If they're not there watching your back, things can get a bit out of hand. [music] >> Today, Tanya and Finny are on the hunt for a fleefooted bag snatcher. A few nights ago at the local mackers, innie walked, golf club in hand, and started sussing out the unsuspecting customers. Closest to the exit, an innocent grandmother has left a handbag on the table, [music] and while she's busy chatting, he strikes. thing is in this town it's pretty hard to be inconspicuous [music] when a you're committing a crime on camera and b you have what could only be described as a very unique [music] hairstyle. >> We're looking for a young man by the name of Henry Martin. He's been identified from that footage. >> Got some info that this fella is going to be at the showground. So, we're going to go check it out. Have a look. >> This is like a refuge shelter for the people of Daily River. At Christmas time, they evacuated the people of Daily River due to the floods. This is where they've been housing them for the last couple of weeks. >> With the Daily River flood now over, everyone is making their way back home. But with the buses leaving every hour, it could provide the perfect escape plan for Mr. Henry Martin. >> Hey, good night. Just wondering, do you have like a list of people that are going on the bus? >> Thank you. >> What we're going to go through now is the list at the bus shelter to see if Henry's actually booked himself onto the bus. Quite a lot of names to go through. >> Henry Martin. No bus. >> No luck. Now they're really hoping someone might remember Henry. >> He's got really long. >> Really long hair. You I've got a photo scene there. >> Or at the very least his blonde tips and mullet. >> I don't recall him going. >> Having hit a dead end, the cops change tack and try the Bush Telegraph for some information. >> Yeah. >> He's being a bit naughty, so we need to catch up with him. >> He's always naughty when he's gone. >> Yeah. Right. Okay. >> He's not here. Hey, long grass. >> Longass. >> Long grassing is the NT term for sleeping rough on the streets. >> A lot of people around here know him and they've stated that he is in the area. He doesn't have any intention [music] of going back to Daily River at the moment. If >> we were trying to find him around Darwin, where would you start looking? >> The most valuable intel is from the people of the community themselves. They're quite happy to share information and tell you where you can find him and who he hangs out with. >> All right. Thanks, mate. Yeah, take it easy. Cheers. Hopefully the information that they've provided us today will lead us to an arrest today. This guy has offended. He likes to go armed in public. Henry's rap sheet lists violent assault and carrying firearms. Who knows what he's planning next? It's closing time on Mitchell Street. [music] And as the pubs and clubs usher out the final revelers, a familiar ritual takes place. We >> stop it now. >> 4:00 comes along. It's the witching hour. >> [music] >> That's where the zombies come out of the clubs. >> And some zombies. >> Look out, ladies. It's going to be sick. >> And with this many grogged up people roaming the streets, R Slate and the team have well and truly got their hands full. >> Get the [ __ ] out of you. >> We're not going to get into a fight here over this. Okay. >> What we need to do is we need to arrange for you to be able to get home safely. >> Our targeting at this time of night is move people on, try and encourage them to get into taxis, leave town before the issues start. If I get you this taxi, you can jump in for >> I would much rather you wake up in your own bed than our watch house, man. See you, buddy. >> Your own bed versus [music] the watch house. You think that's a no-brainer, but at this time of night, brains don't really come into it. >> You got some idea on you, mate? >> They say there's no place like home, but this [music] bloke can't even tell the taxi driver where he lives. >> Now, we've had information from the taxi driver that you've been leading him around. He doesn't want you as a fair anymore. Okay? So, you need to pay your fair and he's going to go on his way. Okay. You prepared to do that? >> 100%. >> All right. So, do you want to pay the taxi driver now? >> Okay. Pay him now. >> 100%. >> So, to be clear, that's 100%. >> So, do you want to sort out the fair with the taxi driver, please? >> 100%. >> And when the time comes to actually pay the fair, you calm yourself down or you're going to get yourself arrested. Okay. Okay. So, we've been >> Just hand over. Thanks, mate. >> Why Why are you being so aggressive? >> I'm not. You are. >> You're being quite hostile towards us. Okay. We're trying to resolve a situation. What's the problem? >> Problem. >> Calm yourself down. Problem. >> Calm yourself down. Okay. Relax. Calm yourself down. All right. >> While Drew struggles to keep his unhappy traveler out of the taxi. >> Further down Mitchell Street, Brad Leget is trying every trick in the book to get these guys into one. >> Trying to go, fellas. Jump in a taxi. They don't want you. Go home or you're going to sell straight away. Simple as that. Calming drunk people down is um very much dealing with children sometimes. >> Listen to your friends. Take him home. >> Take your mates home. >> As dawn approaches, the streets are proving by far the easiest things to hose down. >> Time to go, guys. Come on. >> And finally, a breakthrough as the big man finally agrees to pay his taxi fair to nowhere. >> If you're having trouble remembering your address to give to the taxi driver, you can always show him your ID. Not a bad tip, Drew. >> Get yourself home. Okay. >> Have a good night. >> And as one door closes, another opens. And this one is pretty [music] rank. >> He abused me. And he want to smash me. He abused me. >> I'll jump out the car and smash you. >> Alice Springs is the geographical center of Australia [music] and the heart and soul of the outback and home sweet home to Shane Party McCormick. I originally came to [music] the NT as a backpacker. Came over like all Irish people do. Come over try and make Australia better and came to [music] Alice Springs where I worked in a pub here. There was a pub called Sha's Bar and I met my wife here. We always said someday we'd love to go back and work in Alice Springs. We knew Alice is a great place to bring up kids. So, we decided to do [music] it and here we are. >> The type of people you meet up here are different. >> You're a handsome fellow. Why wouldn't you be? The MT is not everyone's cup [music] of tea, but it does bring a lot of quite unique people to the NT. >> I [laughter] did lose I didn't lose 5 kilos. >> The ENT was kind of built on hard work and [music] it kind of shows with the people you deal with that they are hard workers and work hard, play hard, I suppose. >> Right. Thanks, man. Have a good one. E, >> no worries. >> Make sure you stay out of the sun. >> God bless. >> You look pinker than me. >> I don't think so. It's the start of the [music] shift and Patty teamed up with Constible Bronty Hegy. They've just received some pretty interesting CCTV footage. It's a very brassy [music] laptop theft right under the cashier's noses. >> We've got a report of a stolen laptop and tablet from Dick Smith's. >> I think I'll just walk away with it. But what this [music] brazen lass doesn't realize is 1500 km away up in Darwin, the CCTV operators are watching her every move. There's 42 cameras in Alice [music] Springs. And right now the operator Lee is watching this. It's the thief surfing the net on the stolen laptop right smack bang in the middle of the Alice [music] CBD. >> Look like Sarah. And it turns out the suspect and the cops >> Oh, it is Sarah >> are on firstname terms. >> Where do you get the laptop from, Sarah? >> Um, my mate's house. >> Your mate's house. >> It's closing time on Mitchell Street. And it's been a busy couple of hours as Drew, Mitch, and Brad and all the team tried their best to get their tired and emotional revelers home without an incident. >> He abused me and he want to smash me. He abused me. and they're saying he doesn't [clears throat] have a right. >> But things were about to turn ugly because this cabbie doesn't believe his passenger is either paying fair or playing fair. >> So come over and talk to me first. >> He refuses to go. I'm now on to the taxi company >> and that and they're saying he doesn't have a right. >> I'll talk to you, but we'll go over here away from him. >> This [music] old guy, he didn't want to back down tonight. He's come here. He's tried to get his taxi home. The cab drivers asked for an upfront payment tonight and uh the old fellas refused. Well, his language may have been a little stronger than that. >> And he said he said I'm going to smash you. >> Did you ask him to get out of the taxi? >> Yeah. >> The iate passenger is now lodging a formal complaint with the taxi call center. >> He picked me up and we've driven we've driven 20 m up the road and then >> but the last time I checked talking to a call center didn't exactly solve anything. >> I said to him, "We're going to Palmer." And he stopped and said, "Nope, I don't have to take you anywhere." is a hell of a lot of fuss for a fair that didn't even leave the taxi rank. >> Where'd you pick him up from? >> Here. Here. Still here. I didn't move little bit. >> Well, that's good. Okay. >> Can you come with me? Come with me. >> Mitch tries his best to calm the passenger down. >> Come with me. >> And for a split second, it actually seems to be working. >> Just get another taxi. Listen. Listen to me. He can refuse anyone if he likes. I can't do anything about that. >> He's his taxi mob just told me that. >> So, I'm very scared because somebody want to punch me. Excuse me. Can you refuse my taxi? >> But never ask a question if you can't [ __ ] the answer. >> And why is that, mate? >> I'll jump out the car and smack your head. >> Coming back. >> And with that, he no longer needs a taxi. Now he needs a lawyer. >> You get in the back now, mate. I'm sorry you've blown it. >> Mate, I'll remember you. My boy, >> don't go start making threats. >> No. He already threatened to drag me out of the car. >> There's a step there. Put your foot on it and pop in the back for me, please. >> We've got you. All right. 1 2 3. >> He was at the door yelling, screaming, ready to go. Like he could have been dragged out. They could have both got tussle. So, it was pretty good timing. >> Thank you so much. Thank you so much. You save. Thank you. >> Safe night. >> The cops are very good in Dar. They help us a lot. >> Thank you very much. Tanya and the team are on the hunt for a bag snatcher wanted for ripping off an 81year-old granny and they're relying [music] on the locals to help track him down. >> Henry Martin. >> She's not here. >> What are you doing? >> Long grass. >> Long grass. >> And around these [music] parts, the Bush Telegraph can turn up some pretty good results. >> If you have a good relationship with them, they're happy to give you information. >> Hey, you mob looking for Daily River people? >> Uh, no Daily River? >> No, nothing. >> Can't think of anyone that would be Daily River. No, no, cuz we all from Tiwi. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Hello. Looking for a young fellow, Henry Martin. [music] Don't know. >> Another dead end. But then all the years Tanya spent as an Aboriginal community liaison officer gives her an idea. >> We're going to get a bonsson. >> Bonsson. >> There's a daily river house on Bonsson. >> Are you from Daily area? >> I'm Daily. But >> yeah, right. I live here. >> Well, you know him now or >> my right. is the first [music] positive sign they've had. >> Bit of mystery. Where else would Henry stay if he was staying there? Do you know an address in particular or the person's name? >> Um, that's a rosemary bed. >> Rosemary branch. >> Rosemary branch. >> Henry's [music] cousin thinks he may be staying at their friend Rosemary's. >> Hello, Henry Martin. Where is he? Is he in there? >> No. >> Henry Martin don't live here. He was here other day with me. Y >> and he took off. >> Okay. >> While Tanya chats with Rosemary, Steve and Sheamus check the house. >> Yeah, she's a bit evasive at the front, just so you know. So, have a decent look. >> Yeah, >> I just saw moving inside, somebody for a room. >> The cops move from room to room, but there's one door that remains locked. >> Police officers, who's in the bathroom? >> Is he in there? >> No. The cops are on the hunt for a fellow with a bad reputation and a mullet who stole an old lady's handbag. They think he could be hiding in this house. He's in the bathroom >> behind this toilet door. >> What's your name? What's your name? >> No, no mullet, so no Henry. But turns out Tanya and the team have only just missed him. >> Where is he? >> Yeah. when >> I don't know where he went then, but >> Well, he's in a big problem or what? >> Yeah, he ripped off a a handbag from old lady. >> Oh, wow. >> She's 80. >> There's a bad boy. >> Try and find him. Yeah. >> So, I don't want Henry's problem in my home. You might check the Darwin airport. >> Tizzy and Sheamus head to the airport to where the long grasses hang out. >> Hey, you from Daily River or what? >> Nothing. Do you know um what one young fella called Henry? >> Henry. >> Nothing. >> We've spent a lot of time today chasing Henry. The community's given us a lot of good leads. He is around. Uh he hasn't gone back to Daily River. It's just a matter of tracking him down. >> But just as the team call it a day, word comes through Henry's been spotted by a street patrol. >> Roger. That's confirmed that is >> come back down the street. >> I was just sitting in the office. I'd knocked off and next minute I get the call from the supervisor saying that this target of ours was in the area. So I just jumped in the car went for a cruise and next minute half your luck was driving along the street and there he is. He crossed in front of me. >> Wrong person he was. I don't >> Someone watched that CCTV. They reckon it was you. >> Not me. >> Unfortunately for Henry, the camera doesn't lie. >> Wrong man. >> No. You sure? >> Not me. One of the things that made this guy stand out to us is his distinctive [music] haircut. He's got long hair down to his shoulders, really curly, and he's got a dyed blonde patch at the front of his head. So, yeah, not the smartest move to go doing bag snatches when you've got hair like that. >> Patty and Bronty are tracking down a laptop thief who's not only been caught on camera lifting it from the shop. >> I think I'll just walk away with it, >> but also making good use of it in the Alice Springs Mall. Where do you get the laptop from? Sarah. >> Your mate's house. >> What brand of laptop is that? >> Okay. You're under arrest. E stealing. >> Come on. >> You We know you sold us. >> I didn't steal it. >> You did? Come on. Let's go. >> Yeah. >> You got anything else in your pockets? So rest for stealing. Okay. You understand? No, cuz you never stole anything. >> Right. Well, you've got something that's been stolen today. Okay. >> Okay. Put your hands up. You're going to be searched. 3 hours ago, we had a theft of a laptop and a tablet from Dick Smiths and she's in possession of a same silver, same brand deal laptop. Okay, hop in. >> It just shows you how brazen she is if she's going to steal a laptop and sit around CVD and [music] start putting the headphones in and have a play with it. >> With the laptop theft in the can, Patty and Bronty can move on to the next job. 5 minutes longer hair low cut floral white dress >> vegan 453 >> a parked car windscreen has been smashed [music] >> what's the name of the informant for this job we're all fat at Stewart Lodge >> with no sign of the complainant [music] Bronty's trying to track down local witnesses while Patty heads over to a woman fitting the description >> what story does car miss >> I know who they're looking for. But hey, Patty, you're all good. >> What happened? Cuz people said you were over smashing that cow. [music] So, you causing any problems here now? >> No, I'm not causing any problems here. I'm going to get back into >> Yeah, I'll see you in a few [music] minutes. Okay. >> We got description of a female smashing this car. Got no one that's actually seen her. We can't find the complainant. My gut feeling it would be that lady there. At this stage, we just need to do a few more inquiries. We need to find out who owns the car. Tana is it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I don't know what's happened. >> Right. If I come back here [music] and we get any word about you being disorder or anything, you'd be going to watch out. >> Really? >> Yes. >> With the cops out of earshot to makes a full and frank admission. >> Okay. Don't me around, man. That was just like whack whack whack. Woohoo. Sorry. [laughter] [music] >> Hey, you just need to keep your voice down. Okay. >> Might want to know you're dumb. >> Hey, don't swear. >> I'm not listening to you. >> Communication just wasn't working with her. But obviously, her action dictates what we then have to do. You're under arrest. Gave you plenty of opportunities. You've been swearing. >> Hey. Hey. >> But her performance isn't over yet. And she's not going to go quietly. >> Be silly. Okay. I came out to ask him. >> Gave you plenty of opportunities. You've been swearing. >> Patty and Bronty are investigating a smash windscreen. And this lovely lady, Tana, is currently assisting them with their inquiries. >> Silly. Okay. >> I came out to ask him. >> Oh, put behind your back. >> Okay. You can put my arms in resence. You don't need to be forceful. Do you know that you can ask? Do you know that you can ask? Do you know that you can ask? [laughter] >> Very few times when people are in talks do they say I was the cause of all this. They don't. >> Why are you so angry? >> The worst part of the job is probably >> get up >> 451. Hello. when you get assaulted on the job, when you go home and your kids see the result of the assault, because you want your kids growing up to think that daddy's out there helping people. Everybody likes daddy and why would someone hurt daddy? >> Typical copers in Europe. >> You going to help yourself up? >> I want you to know >> why I'm under arrest. You were dumb, [ __ ] I didn't do nothing to you. Why was I arrested? Come on, [ __ ] We all have our good days and our bad days. I suppose I need to keep in mind that um at the time of us speaking to people, they're not in the right state of mind and they're upset or they're hurt or they're angry, they're intoxicated. So, of course, you're not going to get the usual thanks for coming. [music] We're so glad to see you. >> You're under arrest for the sorely behaving. Swear in a public place. A >> because what? I DIDN'T SWEAR TO YOU, YOU DUMB. >> I DIDN'T you dumb boy. >> Right. >> A lot of times when she gets away from an audience and [music] calms down a bit, you start to see the other side the emotion. She's upset, apologizing, crying and stuff. >> If she wasn't intoxicated, she wasn't so aggressive. That would have went [music] 10 times smoother. >> I got evidence. You dumb. Come on, bring it on. Tana was later released, but [music] she'd been charged with disorderly behavior and property damage. The brazen laptop thief appeared in court and [music] was lucky to escape with a one-year good behavior bond. And as for Henry, the bag snatcher, he could be looking at 3 months jail. >> Get on stomach. >> Next time on Territory Cops. >> Police, get on your stomach. >> Monsoon madness hits Mitchell Street. >> Let's go. >> And continues at the watch house. >> Police search, come to the front door now. A raid turns up an unexpected house guest. >> He's already on bail for robbing someone at gunpoint. >> And buckle up. >> Where'd he go? >> Straight into the bush. >> Because you've never seen a police chase like this. >> There it is. Straight ahead. >> They're the country's most remote police force. You can be 250 km from the nearest uh anything. >> Let's rock and roll. Patrolling over a million square kilometers of the world's most unforgiving landscape. They keep the peace. >> It looks like it's starting to get out of control >> without losing their cool. [screaming] >> Just doing our job. >> Territory coughs. >> Get on your stomach. >> Tonight, >> police get on your stomach. >> Monsoon madness hits Mitchell Street. >> Let's go. >> And continues at the watch house. >> Police search war, come to the front door now. A raid turns up an unexpected house [music] guest. >> He's already on bail for robbing someone at gunpoint. >> And buckle up. >> Where'd he go? >> Straight into the bush. >> Because you've never seen a police chase like this. >> There it is. Straight ahead. >> This is the pingpong tournament between Tis and myself. It's how we settle scores, disagreements, arguments. >> [music] >> Sheamus and Tizzy are good mates, but when it comes to playing pingpong, they're fierce rivals. >> Although at the moment, >> he's not doing too well. >> The guys I work with are awesome. They're some of the best coppers I've ever worked with. I think it's important in a section to have diversity. You've got to play your strengths. [music] Uh, and that is really what makes Trident what it is. Officers Sheamus and Tizzy are hot on the heels of a car that's just been seen leaving a drug den. >> They suspect he's just done a fresh drug deal. >> Vehicle's come out of a location that's known for drug activity. >> Yeah. Asian driver is the same person who attended the residence. >> The hard part now is to trailer a car without being spotted and the dealer tipped off. Apparently, this is a false plate and the front number plate is missing. >> All right, Joe, he's cutting into Homemaker Village. We'll make the apprehension as soon as he turns a corner. >> Light him up. >> You should be able to cut in front of him. >> With Finny in an unmarked cop car blocking the BK's exit, this bloke's not going anywhere anytime soon. >> What's the go with the number plates on this car, man? Is this your car? Whose car is it? >> Yeah. >> Borrowed it from who? >> The plates are the wrong plates, man. That's why I'm asking. >> All right. What I'm going to do is I got reasonable grounds to suspect that there's drugs in this car. I'm going to take you out of the car and do a search. Is there anything in here that I need to know about? [music] Any drugs? Answer my question, man. Any drugs? >> But the nervous drivers keeping mom, >> jump out. Put your hands in front. You're in my custody. You're not under arrest, but you're not free to leave. So, I'm going to handcuff you for my safety. Is there anything sharp in this car that's going to hurt me? Knives or needles? Knife there. >> Finny searches the passenger without a result. >> All right, I'm just going to grab some gloves, man. Just careful of needles. Hey, there's a needle caps here, man. So, >> while Sheamus finds evidence [music] of drug use, there's no trace of actual drugs. >> Roger. Looks like it's just false plates and the guy is unlicensed. >> And is there anything on your person that I should be aware of? >> Yeah. Anything else? >> You're all right, mate. Just tell me. Yeah. >> I don't want to say anything. >> Okay. But there's something in there. [music] >> The driver is still keeping quiet and it's not long before Tizzy works out why. >> So, you're going to tell me what's in there? >> In my right pocket. >> Hey, >> in my right pocket. >> Yeah. What is there? Just just save me. I'm going to find it anyway. >> Every year during the wet season up here in Darwin, a strange phenomenon spreads across Mitchell Street. When you mix unbearable heat with some driving rain and way too much alcohol, you've got what the locals call monsoon madness. Police work by its nature is is dangerous. We're dealing with the worst type of people in society. A savage brawl has been caught on CCTV cameras right outside the aptly named Monsoon's nightclub where these two BS have had a belly full and then foolishly decided to take on the bouncers. And they're not holding back. >> Get on stomach, police. Get on your stomach, police. Get on your stomach. >> As one of the troublemakers is taken away, Bruce Le is doing his best to control the other. >> All right, mate. Roll onto your left side. >> O, LISTEN. >> LISTEN, STOP. >> STOP. O, RELAX. >> RELAX. LISTEN. >> LISTEN. >> But unfortunately for Drew, this bloke just does not want to listen. Stop. >> Relax. >> And even though the fight is over, in this guy's mind, it's still raging. >> Just calm down, man. >> Relax. >> Calm down. [cheering] >> Calm down and get away from the cage. >> No, they're not attacking each other now. They're taking it out on the police van. And after the short drive back to the watch house, both boys have still got plenty to say. Step out of the vehicle, please. >> You going to help this police? >> Step out of the vehicle now. >> For no reason. Oh, >> most of them after being locked up a couple of times. Understand that we have a zero tolerance approach and they're not going to be able to stuff around on our streets. >> That message clearly hasn't sunken in for these two, especially considering both have been arrested before. >> Young, he's only 18. Blank's got a warrant. Everybody's got a warrant as well. >> In the watch house, the cops have a name for, how should I put this? They're regular visitors. >> A frequent flyer is uh is someone who's uh well known for police company. >> Sit down. >> Sit down. >> Dealing with these people sometimes can be good just because they know the system. They know how it works. >> Uh usually you'll know them by name. >> Thomas, what's going to happen? Is he going to be put away? And now that he seems to have settled down, Thomas will be the first to check in. >> What we might do is um You're a little bit wet. >> Yeah. >> Do you want a t-shirt and a pair of shorts? >> That would be awesome. >> No worries. >> Seemingly happy, he's shown to his room, >> but that happiness is >> shortlived. Get your stomach. Constable Rebecca Crossingham. >> Sir, >> when Rhys Kershaw took over as the police commissioner of the NT, he had a few things on his to-do list. >> Constable Helen Holcraftoft. >> But one of the most pressing was to change the perception that you needed to be a bloke to be an NT copper. >> We know that women bring a whole range of skills and capabilities that men don't and the two complement each other. I think it will make for a better police force, a different way of thinking. >> If he hits the target of 50% men and 50% women, he'll be the first police commissioner in the country to do so. >> Women have very good communication skills. Male colleagues will rip me and say, you know, well, how are you going to take down that 100 kilo man who's aggressive with a knife? I've been in those situations where I've been faced with very large men who have been aggressive towards me [music] and just by communicating with them properly, I've managed to talk them down or or calm them down. So being big and physical isn't everything in this job. >> Right team, listen up. We're about to execute a 117 search [music] warrant. Women are fantastic in in leadership roles and that's something that I don't think is recognized [music] across Australia enough and we can bust some of those myths perhaps and perceptions of what a traditional old style police officer was. >> For me, it hasn't been hard to slot into a male dominated police force. I think we're getting more and more females join as each squad goes through, which is a great thing. And it's been really fun actually working with a whole heap of BS. And today Hutch's co-pilot is her boss Craig Dunlop. They're running a remote patrol 100ks out of Darwin. >> We're in the vicinity of Belu and community. So we are on the lookout also for people carrying drugs and alcohol into the community. >> Like many indigenous communities up here, alcohol is banned. >> We're traveling outbound on Fox Peninsula Road and we're on the lookout for people committing traffic offenses. >> There's no no weights on it. >> And they don't have to wait long. No number plates and heading straight for the community. >> No plates at all. >> Okay, that's a good one. >> But as soon as Hutch and Craig chuck a U-turn, the guy in the white ute heads straight into the thick scrub. >> Oh no. >> Oh, here we go. >> Straight into the bush. >> It's going to come out eventually. >> Yeah. >> Hopefully gets bogged. >> Where'd you go? >> This way. You know the old saying, needle in a hay stack. >> He's cloud in here. >> That's called to police. >> Well, it soon becomes clear this is not your average pursuit. >> Where's he gone? >> A savage street fighter seen two familiar faces brought into the Darwin watch house. Fre and Fly is pretty much someone we deal with on a regular basis. >> But right now, there's one very unhappy regular. >> Calm out. Calm down. >> Two. >> With Tommy secured and settled again, it's onto [music] his mate >> on the floor, >> Mr. Blake Opel. >> Who has been waiting patiently. >> Hands behind your back. You're going to stand up ON YOUR FEET. THAN YOU THINK IS. >> But as he's checked in, Blake is a little unhappy. >> What have you been drinking? >> What have you been drinking? >> Jacks, mate. These are >> How many Jacks have YOU HAVE? >> OH, THEY'RE POOR, MATE. >> It's a ritual Locky's seen many times before. >> I try not to take anything personally. Nothing that we do here as place is ever personal. >> When did you have your last drink? About 2:30. >> What's the time now, mate? About4 to 3. What's the time up there? >> Do you drink every day? >> 34 to 3, mate. >> Do you drink every day? >> I KNOW I DON'T. >> I think the two gentlemen were uh basically just playing up for um for everyone present. [screaming] >> Whatever the reason, with Blake now heading to his new room, the only thing left to do is sleep it off. Some people just get so fired up through the use of excess alcohol. Unfortunately, we're the ones that left to pick up the pieces. >> Sheamus and Tizzy have pulled over a bloke they reckon has just bought some drugs. >> Vehicle's come out of a location that's known for drug activity. >> But so far, the guy's been pretty tight lipped. >> Can you tell me what that is? >> I want to say anything myself. >> Okay. I mean, you've already indicated it's in your eye pocket, man. So, at this point, it doesn't make much difference. We're going to get it tested. >> What is this? >> Okay. >> Got a bit of gear on him, a little bit of ice, and a crack pipe. And there's probably about4 of a gram. >> A full bag of meth means this BK's recently bought drugs. But more importantly, they suspect the house the cops were watching before they nabbed him was where he got it. >> So, that means they're hot now. >> Yeah, exactly. Yeah, >> they're now on a race against time to get a warrant to search it. >> What's the other guy going to do? >> He will give them the heads up straight away. >> The passengers known to us. We've arrested him numerous times for property offenses. He's also a drug user. As soon as we let the passenger go, there's nothing on him. He's going to try and alert the occupants of the house. So, we need to get everything sorted as quickly as we can and execute this warrant ASAP. >> They need to make sure he doesn't make the call and tip off the dealers back at the house. >> Do you have a phone? >> No, he doesn't. the and it's not in the car. So, >> so we're really we've got like a 5minute window. >> Hey, we've just done a trap on a car and located some drugs. >> Finn's on the phone now to the superintendent making an application for a search warrant at the house that we followed the car from. So, speed is of the essence here. >> There's been two 120B executions at that location probably about the last 6 months. >> 181 to all tri units. I've just spoken to Finny. He's got the warrant signed off. We are ready, everyone. Yep. >> With the passenger now free to go. It's time to strike. >> It's the home of a woman who has multiple drug convictions. >> So, we'll get you on knock. >> Yep. >> But have they moved fast enough to catch her? >> Entrance is on the left. Police, please search warrant. Police, come to the front door now. Open it up now. Police, please search warrant. >> Cops from Strike Force Trident have raced to search a suspected drug. >> Hurry up. Open the door. Come outside now. >> Open the door. We're going to kick it. >> Police. >> Bedroom clear. You're not free to leave, but you're not under arrest. Okay. >> Yeah. Go through. >> You want to just take the >> two GS inside are on lockdown while the cops continue to search. >> Yeah. Listen up, fellas. >> What we're looking for is dangerous drugs. Okay. Specifically, we're looking for methamphetamine whilst we execute this warrant. Do not get up. Do not move around unless we do tell you to do so. Do you understand that? >> Okay. Don't go to the toilet. Don't make any phone calls. Do you understand? >> Inside, there's no obvious signs of drugs or the suspected dealer. One of the guys is already on bail for a robbery, robbing someone at gunpoint. So, yeah, who knows? We'll see what we come up with. Um, fingers crossed we get something decent. They're just about to run the dog through now, so we'll sit tight. >> Suspiciously, the whole place is decked out with security cameras, but this could be good news for Finny. >> Hey guys, if you see a hard drive, sees it cuz they got surveillance cameras. Oh, yeah. >> They got these set up everywhere. They go from room to room. They find no evidence of drugs or good housekeeping. >> Finally, in a bedroom, a set of scales and dozens of tiny deal bags. >> The boy I seized the ice from at the trap we did, his ice was in a deal bag that looked just like that. >> But any drugs along with the woman they suspect is dealing them have gone. Fortunately, when we got here, the target was uh had left little literally minutes before. >> It's not the victory they'd hoped for, but as far as Tissy's concerned, if it makes life hard for drug dealers, well, then it's still a win. >> The longer they're comfortable in one location, the more they're going to deal drugs and move a lot of this methamphetamine into the community. And yeah, it's just wreaking havoc right now. So, we put some pressure [music] on the dealers and we've arrested a person in possession of methamphetamine. So, you know, it's uh not the result ideal result, but it's still a good result. >> Hutchie and Craig are on the hunt for this ute. It's got no plates, and the BK's done a runner into the bush. So, this police chase with a difference has gone off road. >> Oh, yeah. Starting to get a bit squishy. >> Actually, when I say police chase, >> how do they get through here? Chase might be a bit of a stretch. >> I want to hit this. >> Oh Jesus. >> Uh, not that way. Greg >> might give it a miss. >> Bugger. >> Straight in. >> He just flew in here. That's >> Yeah. So he ends up high. >> With the pursuit on hold, they head back to the main road. >> Obviously countryman knows his country. Oh yeah. Do >> you reckon he would have gone into Bel? >> Yeah, they probably got their grog and they're about to head to Bung for a feed. But all of a sudden, >> there is right there. That's it. >> Hutchie spots him. >> That's it. >> He's definitely hiding something. >> There he is. >> There he goes. Going bush again. >> He bolts further into the bush the minute he knows he's been sprung. Oh yeah. >> Sure. Do that. >> Okay. Off-road pursuit. Take two. And action. >> There it is. Straight ahead. Keep going that way. Where now? >> Over there somewhere. Got it. >> It's just going down the hill there. Down the ridge. >> We're going to come out somewhere. >> That's right, Craig. Focus on the positives. I >> hope so. We're on the right track. >> [ __ ] I can't get under there. You going to keep going? No, >> I think we'll stop. Every dog has his day. We'll catch him. I don't really want to go in any further. >> It's the end of the road again. But as they head back out, Hutchie stumbles across what could be a vital clue. >> What do we have here? >> It's a panel from the ute. What a shame there's no radio play attached to it. >> Hey, >> but this may be all they need. >> Hutchie and Dunlop have picked up a vital clue after a pursuit through thick scrub. He was pretty keen to get away from us. It's happened twice now and um straight into the bush. So, we'll head back to Belleview now. There's constant alcohol and drug running into this community. Definitely may have something a bit more sinister to hide. go to the mechanic shed and just ask him about somebody with a you >> and around these parts you just never know what a chat with a local mechanic might turn up >> hello >> mate we've just chased a bloody ute through the bush the back um door's fallen off if I give it to you guys are you happy to hang on to it and just someone might be looking for one you don't know who owns this you >> who said Tony >> Tony so Tony works here so I come to the right face tonight. >> Well, that was a bit easier than Craig thought. >> It's got to be unlucky day, though. >> He would have thought he was home at home. >> Yeah, >> we've got a name. And we've also got the address of this person. >> That's his house there. >> Hello, Tony. Hey, who's got your car? >> My car? >> Young Dale, too. >> Okay. Basically, he's driven off into the bush. We followed him and Yeah. and the tailgate fell off the back of the ute and he did it twice though. Not once, twice into the bush. >> Your car may be wrecked. So, >> just what any car owner wants to hear. >> You want it again. >> Go for it. >> Oh, you can if you want to. >> Probably stuck in the bush. Eh, >> hey. Um, what does Dale look like? Describe him. >> Same color. >> Stocky stock follow. >> He must have ran away from you guys. Must have had gro on the car. Is the car registered? >> It's on matter of radio at the moment. >> Okay, that would be a reason. >> Yeah, >> but anyway, thank you. >> Okay, no worries. >> Thanks for letting me know. >> You're welcome. >> A few days later, the cops pay Tony's nephew a visit, and there's a surprise waiting for them in the car park. >> Hey, Sarah. It's the side panel, not the the rear one. Good bit of damage. >> Hey, Dale, how you going? I need to talk to you about driving Tony's car. No. >> Okay. You didn't damage his car too much. >> Well, apart from a bent tray and a cracked windscreen. Nah, there's not much damage at all. >> You didn't have any grog with you other day. No gunja. >> Hey, look. Um, says a notice to appear in the D magistrate's court for drive unlicensed, drive motor vehicle unregistered, and drive an uninsured motor vehicle. >> No worries. >> All good, mate. Next time just stop, eh? >> Yep. Nothing. I'm not driving. >> Don't drive. That's probably better. All right, mate. >> Thank you. In court, Dale the Bush Basher was fined 2,130 bucks. This bloke could be 3K out of pocket for the ice, the pipe, and the multiple traffic offenses. Blake's on bail, while Thomas was fined 800 bucks and has [music] 160 hours of community service to complete. That's all [music] for now from Territory Cops, whose motto is to serve and protect. >> You're under arrest for failing to leave a licensed premises. Okay. They take that seriously, but not always themselves. >> Where's the man keen? >> Just going in now. >> Another one. Bad dust. >> Boom. >> Hot tonight, isn't it? >> S working, mate. >> No, mate. When you got [music] a sloppy rig like mine, it's not really the sort of place you go. >> Who's winning? >> Is it pretty? >> For me, it's always been a big adrenaline rush. That's one of the things I've loved about policing. >> I've always wanted to be a police officer. When the job's on, we usually get it done pretty well. >> I'm in the presence of greatness. What can I say? [laughter] >> Well, you could be a police officer without a sense of humor. >> I didn't say nothing. My boyfriend didn't say nothing. >> Do you know him? >> No. >> Okay. >> Please, mate. >> Shouldn't have had that second hand of Red Bull. Do you want to finish up, man? >> Where? >> Calm down. >> Oh, Mitchell Street. How I love Mitchell Street. >> I have it in a bogan that comes out every now and again. You got the mullet. You got the flanny. It's good. We're always focusing on serving and protecting territorians and in particular delivering the best police service that we can >> in the territory. What you see is what you get. Our officers are the most unique in Australia, if not probably the world.
