are going to experiened some truly disturbing discoveries that even left the cops terrified uncover the disturbing case of an employee who stooped so low as to steal from children's charity donations only to face a reckoning he never saw coming the cash is removed your pocket is pocketed and then the drawers are short that amount of money so I'm pocketing the money that's that's what they said they happy on video doing on July 31st 2024 officers responded to a mini mart to investigate a theft that revealed a betrayal far worse than anyone expected as the police arrived the store staff unfolded the situation to the cops they wasted no time and took immediate action against the woman the she Wasing up there and then doing a refund and po make the money so she did that for 2 weeks and total was $1,900 she's on the register right now I've got another manager in there who's supposed to pull her into the office so she doesn't get spooked and try to bul um but she's in there right now still $1,900 in total so do you have the we've got the CCTV footage we've got receipts that she's wrung up she did it on another Associates numbers but it you can attach it to the cameras and see that it's her she did on another Associates numbers yeah sign in so it's under somebody else's name but you match the time stamps with the camera on the camera it's it's her you can see it put in her pocket and stuff okay hey just turn around and put your hands L direct for me so you're being placed under arrest right now for fraud I know you got a lot of questions everything's going to be explained to you okay okays together like you're praying there you go do you have anything illegal on your person no knives anything sharp that's going to poke cut or anything like that okay where would your belongings be over here where is there a purse or something over there okay just let me know which ones are yours this just leave those here my purse is right there okay those my purse is right there this purse yeah do you have anything else no okay wait oh not that one oh I'm sorry the other one this one this one yeah one now do you want to leave that here oh yeah at that point the police began questioning the woman about the situation but she chose to make excuses so you're 20 21 21 21 okay um how long you been working at 7-Eleven um I want to say almost a month a month and yeah about a month you said about a month a little over yes okay what you where you work before this um McDonald's well actually I was a I wasn't at McDonald's for long I was only there for like a few days um but I was at I was a CNA and all that stuff okay all right so real quick before we get into any further into details I just want to read you something real quick it's kind of like procedure have you ever been read your rights before yes okay so you've been arrested before or no yes what were you arrested for um my previous charges um uh what was it fra it was fraudulent stuff it I can't tell you the exact charge but I know it was like fraud related yes okay how long ago was that um about two to 3 months I want to say two to three months okay all right so uh I'll read you this real quick just kind of get it out out the way and then we talk further okay so yeah right mhm yeah I just need you to say yes yes okay thank you all right um so you've been working sevland for for about a month or maybe a little over mhm uh poor that spend a little time in McDonald's you did uh CNA uh certified nurse assistant okay um all right do you like working at 7-Eleven yeah okay all right are you going to school or anything like that currently no all right I just have three babies you got three kids okay all right um so you said the fraud case you previously had you said it was a few months ago yes but we're it hasn't been like finished I'm going through it still are you still kind of going through it okay so the reason why you're here today um obviously there there's been some concern uh in reference to Charity donations at work you you know what I'm talking about all right can you tell me what's going on with that I haven't did anything wrong um by me starting being new um I work up under somebody else's numbers um they gave me numbers for my own register but they wasn't working this morning when I tried to put them in um from my understanding in I mean I was still in the system for everything so I don't really know too much about that um so like in numbers as as far as like kind of like register like yeah each employee has a different register number okay all right so you kind of yours wasn't working or something like that they she just had gave them to me what was it I was off yesterday so the day before that she gave me them um I tried them this morning they didn't work um so work up under someone else's numbers okay is it multiple people's numbers to work under or is it just hers just one specifically yes whoever like is over that shift when I get there like whatever manager or something like that yes okay well she's not a manager but she's I guess a lead okay like a like a team lead okay all right so the first thing you said is like yeah mean you didn't do anything wrong what made you say that because I haven't I mean they wouldn't really tell me anything okay when I was up there but I I haven't did anything I'm going through too much to be yeah are you going through like this hard times right now at home or something like that not really I mean of course bills but yeah every and taking care of three kids but that's really it okay so what was brought up um reference to these donations um is I guess there're there's a barcode that needs to be scanned um and management was able to review cameras and stuff so uh so they got you scanning the barcodes um and then essentially later pocketing the cash pocketing the cash out of the register when did I Pock it I'm sorry when did I Pock uh there's apparently there were several incidents um so that's that's what they brought up to us to our attention this is why we're here right now and that's that's what I'm trying to figure out cuz obviously you're saying one thing yeah I and they have they have video showing something entirely different yeah so I mean if you're going through hard times cuz I get it I mean we all go through difficult challenges and stuff like that especially Financial issues I know uh you know being a parent you know money can it's tough especially you know it's for you and you have other responsibilities and people to take care of and if if that the case is that something that that led you to this like I understand I mean but it's it's I'm talking to cuz I want you to be straight with me cuz if you're being dishonest then that says something totally different and now we have videos showing otherwise I mean it's I rather you just be straight with me say hey look I messed up I'm not perfect and I get that cuz no one's perfect but if you're saying one thing and then I have evidence this to say otherwise and it's not matching up then that I mean that shows a different character and I don't looking at you I don't think you're like that I mean I don't think you're that type of person I mean you're young you you know you're still trying to make plans and grow you know I mean raise your family and I get that I mean it's if you made a mistake I mean this is this is me talking to you I want you to just be honest so that way we can figure out what's going on and if there's some assistance or anything like that that you know programs that can be offered like let's let's figure out despite the evidence the woman continuously denied taking the money making the situation more difficult for herself cuz I had never been here yeah like my first time being arrested they took me straight down to what was it Mary County jail so like am I under arrest well right now there's obviously an investigation going on So based off of that investigation it's kind of pointing towards you so I would like to talk to you I mean and get an understanding of what's going on that's that's why you're here right now yes I mean cuz me just taking me to the jail what what are we achieving out of that yeah I mean no one gets to hear your story and this is this is your chance to come out and say all right look if you made a mistake I mean I get that you know just let it be known but if if you choose not to talk and you just want to go the route like nothing happened but everything else is showing otherwise then you know the judge if you go to trial jwy is going to see all that and again you don't seem like that type of person I mean no one's perfect and I get that I mean this is your opportunity to kind of explain that and come on up does that make sense yeah so tell me what's going on and what happened cuz they got you on video taking cash out of the register so it doesn't show me it being on me it just shows it me coming cuz I have regardless we have to drop money M regardless so I have to take cash out of there anyways every time we get big bills over big bills yeah and we have to insert it and we have to do all the computer stuff anyways okay so that's it's what I'm saying is they have video of you taking cash out of register and then later put in your pocket so there and then there's been multiple scans of cash donation under your name and other employees names uh but it's it's only you doing it on video and then later the cash is removed your pocket is pocketed and then the drawers are short that amount of money so I'm pocket in the money that's that's what they said they happy on video doing cuz I use the red things that the red Brown things that the money go in normally when you put it in if you drop the money literally I write on those and everything so that's what I'm saying I use those and I do have like stuff that I done wrote on that I done put in my pocket and everything but yeah as far as like money I don't have any money okay all right so can you explain why you're drawers are always short I Pro probably the way I rang stuff I mean cuz like I say I'm fairly new so probably the way I run it in cuz now they got it where you have to have manager approval to do refunds and all that stuff so that's what I'm trying to understand okay this is why I'm here too I'm I'm trying to figure out what's going on yeah so this is the story I'm getting from manager you know what I mean and this video so it's it's like that's showing one thing and then you're saying another thing so you see how it's like it's just not matching up yeah so that's that's the confusion and that's what we're trying to figure out well I know I don't have no money okay I if I but I don't have any money okay so so I I watched a video of one of the incidents okay um you didn't have any customer uh you would just have to register um by yourself um you know watch you scan the barcode looks like you entered uh information on the computer drawer open took out cash but see to the side when I'm when I'm oh you can tell went up to the side looks like you're counting some bills M um I believe I saw that Vault where you were doing some drop and then you walked over and you put some cash in a paper bag and then later put the paper bag in your pocket so what happened to that cash that you put in the paper bag that you put in your pocket I don't have no cash or nothing that's what I'm saying it it can literally easily be a cuz I also use them paper bags also to write on and I literally like I don't have no cash if I had the cash I'll okay yes I got it whatever but I literally cuz it's the closest thing to me and the receipt papers you can't automatically just press the button and it come out you while the woman tried to avoid the situation the cops informed her of the charges making it clear she could no longer escape the truth a lot so I'm always putting that in my pocket the ones that I write on which when they just got me I was writing on them two of them and yeah writing what on on the B I was just basically I had some bills to pay but but I was just making little notes on it but I didn't bring it with me okay all right but I don't have any money seriously I don't have any money so but we we have you on video putting money in paper bag and put in the bag in your pocket like I I literally just watched the video so you're you're telling me something but I I watch something entirely different and what day is this um off top of my head I don't know date um but again I I literally just watch the video sir I don't have any money okay I can't leave my kids I can't leave my kids yes ma'am you want to ask me a question um yes do you do you know what is going to happen because I have a my son is at home and he has a second degree burn and I was supposed to have an appointment okay um who's he at home with he's at home with my grandmother right now okay um how old is he he's two all right well um I to be honest right now I have prob calls for your arrest all right uh based off the evidence um shows that you stole money from the business okay uh so today you will be placed an arrest for organized fraud and Grand Theft um you currently on bond yes all right there's again there's a good possibility that you're going to be no bonded um it's and again I I try to speak to you you know me like an opportunity to come forward um but I'm just going to document you know our interview today and again all that information is going to be up to the judge on during first appearance you understand okay all right so just be patient and we'll get everything uh moving okay the woman was charged with Grand Theft and organized fraud let's begin with a case where a Public's employee was busted after defrauding the store 23 times I'll be going out County they'll probably give you like a some kind of bond tonight and then he can just Bond you out so I don't think they're going to keep you manorly overnight okay but unfortunately they they do want to press charges on July 12th 2024 officers responded to a public store following a report of an employee committing fraudulent transactions what seemed like small acts of Deceit quickly added up to something much bigger upon arriving at the scene the police spoke with the manager who exposed how the suspect had manipulated the refund system by scanning receipts putting them on gift cards and loing up GI card for himself and been sending the gift card for okay so she's been refunding on some customers or what no no just refunding items she's scanning a receipt the works now you don't even need the item you can SC this bar code on the receip all those items to refund gift got it okay and then keeps loading the same gift cards over and over so this has been going on now that we for you said 3 weeks video yeah for like 3 weeks okay multiple times we're trying to figure out what statute that would be I think it's be more of like a fraud thing then so six times so she I guess she's doing like the the fraudulent refunds where she's taking the the receipts and then refunding it and then putting it onto a gift card you know they've made it easier now you don't even need the items for refund you SC the receipt the Barco on the receipt it'll pop up all the items on the screen you just slip them all over the refold and then you you be to Def frud then or is that still just a effect she's been using the card to buy other it on her own so we've got her for 3 weeks doing it she did it six times last night tell what statue that would be I call make he's got a dollar value I don't know what that is I think it was like five something a quick phone call so we know what charge uh me one second it's uh 61 61 huh that's what I call she's in the office with my district managers it's female my l hey Serge um me and F are here at Publix and I I haven't done one of these in a while so the I guess the manager here at publ is saying that the their employee I guess over the course of 3 weeks has been basically getting receipts and refunding items on those receipts and then putting it onto a gift card and then using that gift card for herself is that to the fraud okay all right but what what receipts did she col like where is she collecting the receipts from exactly the original one was probably a customer return yeah like a customer return and stuff like that so I guess they don't need the actual item anymore to the return they just do the by the receipt so um so it's to the fraud it's funny yeah it's video she's here she's us the same receipts over and over like last night she us one for $11 she at the same time same one over over same two items it does like after the receipt yeah one was $362 I think use that one like four or five times same items over and over they get 36s 36 bucks right and then and then I'm have to even spend it in my own I don't think you're going to get gone yeah so I guess it's St the fraud too because she's doing the fraudulent refunds what's the what's that what's the fony limit the scheme to the fraud fony limit is uh 750 but this is scheme to the fraud it's it f any either way so give me one second I tell you what I do have what's that I can tell you what I do have are you the one are you theion manager okay um what's your first name how long has you been an employee here for 24 March so 4 years almost okay or over four years years okay and she just started doing this within the last 3 weeks June 14th was the first one okay2 and June 14th was the first one correct okay is she in there with somebody else right now yes okay so while we're out here I'm just going to get a quick sworn statement from you and what uh what are we here for today what happened we have an Associated who was performing fraudulent transaction from June 14th through July 11th approximately 23 times totaling a loss of at least $575 94 she admitted to performing these fraudulent transactions and issued a statement to that effect that St was completed today okay um so between the 14th of June and the 11th of July she did about 23 uh fraudulent transactions how is she doing this she's pulling up saved or saved refunds scanning them on the the register when no one's around and applying them to her own gift cards and when she saves refunds how does that so they were refunds that were already administered to customers okay so she was going back into the system and recalling them recalling the refunds okay at that point the manager showed the footage to the cops which clearly hinted at the suspect's involvement that anyone can get access to or customer service staff is trained on how to use it okay so she would recall these refunds out of the system and then what would she do with them exactly she would process the refund onto her gift cards okay and then use those gift cards in the store for personal purchases okay so she was putting them back onto puppet's gift cards correct you would do these refunds with no items present no customers and she's on camera doing these transactions as well yes every is is each 23 of them captured on video yes okay and was this occurring at the customer service desk or where was this occurring at customer service desk okay the main one right here in the front yes it occurred I think one other once or twice on a regular register okay but majority 21 times at customer service and you do you want to prosecute yes and for a total of 575 94 594 575 94 575 94 right now where is she in exactly she's there's a training room I'll kind of show you a couple she it back it back to she's this one right here yeah in the back [Music] okay so all she does she'll recall it keeps it in her pocket mhm scans it so the customer will basically come off and return Whatever item they have correct and then she returns it for them and then goes back in scan you'll see her scan it's the white girl her yeah okay that's similar amount for each one she's going to do this with the other one present that's how she got came fin Geto saw with the screen up Wonder like that looks funny there so they saw her like acting like she was processing return but nobody was there yeah see like right here she's going to recall a see like a return that was already in her system mhm she's like looking around me he nobody sees her yeah when she pulls a card out of her pocket or something does a good card you can kind of just swipe it over then J keeps his gift cards and then kind of just uses them in the store m okay so they're able to actually go back into that we're already process recall it and then do it again okay again so they can do it multiple times on the same exact refund the same for the same receipt for the same item something like a flaw for system problem they should definitely fix lock it down yeah right I if a customer does it and then customer gone now she's doing it again on his ex on his same return that he just did any time she reaches over there loading here no way just the officers explained the woman's actions to her and then detained her moving forward with the necessary with the staff and uncovered the man's defenses they then encountered the suspect and took the necessary steps to address the situation um we have our commander te call he was doing the interview stuff um and uh let me see we have like a statement from him admitting it and everything okay and we want to request a trespass for so no criminal charges uh we are PR Char oh it's What's the total it's about I can get the exact total like no we have to do cost so it's like $3 to $1,400 I can give you the exact amount okay when was when was this done oh it's done in May 2nd and then there was another one too um this was prior to that he admitted to um but he believes that there's more does he know your first in charge I'm sorry does he know your in charge see there more yeah we'll talk um back yeah yeah they'll suspend him today because he'll be U they have to open up an HR case before termination um so yeah she'll notify I just told hel at the GM that to make sure he gets suspended U was 2 months and did you know what you were doing did you know that you were doing it for financial gain you didn't so you didn't realize that you were taking money from the store um yeah anything can I put it um on the the pen drive a picture of it uh we have to have a physical proper can you see there's a Another Printer that scan CER service notop um yeah evidence is kind of a important degree now let's turn to a case involving a suspect who just 7 days into her new position devised a daring plan dreaming of hitting the jackpot but her scheme didn't stay hidden for long have you on video okay steal my tickets stealing lottery tickets all right stealing money okay which that that's all verified okay that can be proved and there's no question about it on March 29th 2023 police responded to a report about a brand new employee at a Florida Speedway who managed to steal $5,000 worth of lottery tickets when the police arrived they spoke with the staff to understand what had happened through their investigation they uncovered surprising information about the suspect the register okay um I got video clip of takat CAS put it in the trash pleas speak a little bit louder or she nearby or oh no she's in the I just want to hear you better camera can hear you better okay I got her on cameras taking stets off stand cash it taking some putting it in a trash and putting it in another trash to make it seem like she's thr a lot of trash away and go ahead it soone is for to do so she can get it and go home with it was she able to get any cash from any one of those or did she take any she went some and she doing it so there was a couple of time when she she took $150 ticket and she push it out for $100 ticket okay and W course she won $100 she take the money first um how how much total in cash and how much total in ottery I'm total secret it was from eight different books eight different books and you you have that you have that on um surveillance camera players day 100% all right no questions asked about that no 100% all right um You Want You said you want FR start is correct absolutely have you filled out a sement before or no I feel one of these out before oh she's thrown it away and we'll pick it up at the end end of her shiping yeah and that's that's on camera too taking the trash bags at the sh and going in her car being picked up or whatever the maybe just fill out all your information and detail up top I don't need a home address I don't need your home phone but everything else please and the statement I'll just be as detail as possible so on whatever date whatever time however it was you found out um I found out um on um mon well it was it happened on Sunday I found out Monday morning because as a manager we loty yeah um and I couldn't figure it out so I let my district manager know that some stuff was missing and basically they had to go on there and do the research and then when I got my camera um the camera for the store contacted and everything that's when I check the video and that's when I saw all yeah just this in the statement just basically chronological order date approxim the time how it wasn't found out just like we were saying as the cops approached the woman she claimed it was a desperate act driven by addiction and attempted to deflect responsibility for her actions hey how you doing are too bad all get the the lottery tickets did you put the lottery tickets in your front pocket walk out the front door stick it in the back no I scratched I scratched the ticket and and turned it in and got the and then you went back to the dumpster to kind of collect them to kind of hide your evidence or whatever no that's what you just said no bring it through okay you got to be clear for us right we don't we don't we don't work out gas station so you you you rang them up you threw them in the trash and then what I kep part of the money and put the money for the ticket in the in the chill okay so at no point did you try to conceal anything in trash and to hide it or anything like that or or collect anything after you got out of work by the dumpsters or anything no okay okay even even a surveill fo clothes this in my pocket fine thing here is milk and it's leaking that's on November 8th 2022 officers were called to a wind Dixie to investigate this bold Act of employee theft what happens next is a reminder that every action has consequences upon arrival police engaged with the staff Who provided a detailed account of the incident they soon uncovered video surveillance that captured the suspect's actions um okay we started seeing some Lottery shortages over here for instant ticking online um it started back around the beginning of July um and it's gone on till present so since July this individuals been selecting lottery cards lottery cards playing online TOS yes okay you want to go back in for real quick okay he said going I don't know what's going on so I that's the I don't want my keys to be stuck out the door and I know but we don't I don't know what's going on yes let me talk to him and we'll go from there um so have on video you know sctor tickets mainly the liquor store she would just scratch the bottom to see if they'll win or not discard them if they weren't cash them in if they were and there's also another process on the cash register door where um like if somebody brings up a winning ticket we can key in instant Lottery Redemption and then put in the dollar amount then we pay that out well she figured out that she could do that even without a winning ticket and everything's still balanced on the back end in our world but then when we got the bill from Lottery then obviously we were like okay well we paid out more redemptions than what we reive and so that's when all this started unfold um so we're looking at um total that I can prove that she was $1,653 something like that during that time in on video in on video I got it all in the thumb dve for you everything in on video I've got the our our report that shows our redemptions on our register and then the all of the redemptions on the Florida Lottery terminal since we don't own that I can get that to the St and that shows everything of what ticket she scan what the value is on an Excel spreadsheet is there any type loog for her information doesn't matter the machine is a machine anybody The Machine's a machine anybody can do it but it's her scheduled shift uh and obviously on video she's the only one at the liquor store cuz we usually only work one person in the liquor store so basically she's been taking lottery tickets scan in the bottom if they're winners or not they're not winners they don't way if they are winners she scans them takes money and she found a way to get to make a lottery ticket away every and it's been going on since July they have a Thum Drive full of all the start July 2nd I think was the first day that we discovered um so do you have like date and times written out you have anything written out yet or no everything's on that Thum drive as far as Expos spr sheets so she's basically taking lottery tickets scanning them but don't they have to be activated first they're all as the cops confronted the suspect she denied the accusations insisting that the prior warnings were unrelated you said sorry I didn't know what's going on for a I will tell you we're trying to figure that out trying to figure out what I have okay I'm going to figure out if we're taking a Jil or not taking a jail well I I will let you know once I know I will let you drop it obviously the only thing I'm worried about is restitution so obviously have to go through the prosecution part to get that so is it is it when dict that's at a loss or is it for lottery I'm at a loss for the now the cases that I've worked for in the past is we'll prosecute for the value of the tickets CU that's my loss and then the state goes after that person for the winnings of those fraud tickets okay so that's what usually happens that's even more in depth for flottery yeah what's the total value for the almost for my loss is 10,000 yeah 10 10653 for the uh just for the tickets suspect to uncover the truth he denied the allegations and attempted to downplay the situation that he took some skull and a couple beers and drinking them on the job go I forgot to pay for it I'll go back there stocking them and saw over here one out of the six set it over there so you took one out of the sixpack no I took a one like the tall uhhuh Steel Reserve yeah yeah just see took one out out one of these drawers like or refrigerators a pack of a pack of dip and um peanuts and the peanuts you said sheep are free okay the police discovered video footage that clearly showed the man's I saw a handgun on a shoulder holster or something right here and I said I drew my weapon I said don't don't reach for that I said or I will shoot you and he said well then you're going to have to shoot me and he reached for it and okay it was that was that so are you hurt at all I'm not I don't think so Drew looked me over he said I'm not hit I don't know if he even got a shot off but the gun was laying right in front of me after uh from what it sounds like um I heard epr in progress and then you know obviously everybody started showing up so all right Brandon was the first one here got him cuffed sorry I didn't rec you're got the lights in my eyes couldn't see but so my first thing is I want to know you're okay I'm I'm I'm just checked on I'm upset well you got to do what you got to do man but um I'm missing a magazine and I dropped my flashlight which I found but I can't find my magazine so let me just Gunner if you would stay with him I'm just going to go check on Mr buer and
